Friendly staff - home-style cooking at fair prices

I invited my team to dinner at this restaurant in November 2024. It was agreed in advance with the owner, Mr. Gustavsson, that he would send us an entertainment receipt for billing purposes. Unfortunately, after asking several times, I have not yet received a receipt. This meant that I was unable to submit this amount to my employer. All colleagues will now not receive any money back. There is no excuse for this unprofessional behavior by Mr. Gustavsson. Ms. Dams

Traditional German food in a lovely atmosphere, really enjoyed the bratwurst and sauerkraut- excellent. Strudel very nice too. Great value price and a felt like a taste of real Germany :)

Fantastic German pub near the fine

I don't often leave reviews because it's annoying, but I really wanted to leave one this time. The female waiter is slow and rude haha. They force me to tip. They force me very, very strongly. They said something about China Japan and then they said, “Hey, it’s okay.” This is the first time I’ve been forced to tip in Germany for over a week. When I asked for a receipt, he clicked his tongue and gave it to me!! Ah~~ I don't know if it's racism or just not being cheap~~ Anyway, it's a restaurant that's delicious but I wouldn't go there a second time ^__^ I don't want to give a star rating because the service sucks.

It was a meal for my wife and I, and we were full from the large salad, currywurst with plenty of fries, and beer. The authentic currywurst didn't have much of a curry flavor, but it was delicious.

Very tasty and atmospheric... very tasty mulled wine - just what you need after a long walk in winter. The food is wonderful. The attitude towards children is amazing. We visited early in the evening on a weekday - you could do without a reservation, but for convenience you can book a table and time (there is an English version of the site). We recommend.

There were 7 of us at the Gasthaus Krombach on Sunday evening and we were very satisfied. The service was very nice and authentic. The food was varied and tasty, especially the Königsberger Klopse. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy

Highly recommend! *UPDATE " We returned after a break of a few months and we're very disappointed. The restaurant can be made unpleasant by the attitude of a couple of the staff who are best described as "unhelpful clowns". What a shame. The food is great if you get what you ordered. The staff need to realise that customers pay their wages. However we have now altered the ratings accordingly. Wonderful authentic German food. Great atmosphere friendly and helpful staff. Frequented by colourful and interesting people. Reasonable prices with a great menu to choose from. Probably should book at weekends. Can get very busy. Highly recommended.

Good restaurant with typical German food, which although it may seem strange, is difficult to find in the center of Berlin. The food was pretty decent. We ordered knuckles, bratswurt, currywurst.... Everything came with its chukrut and its corresponding accompaniments. There were only two things to improve: the prices are not those that appear on their website (but much higher), and it took us about an hour to start eating (there was only one person serving). Yes, super friendly.

Terrible customer experience This was our second visit to this busy Gasthof. There will not be a third. Despite booking our table 2 days earlier, we ended up in what was effectively the corridor leading to the toilets and a constant stream of staff brushing past to serve tables. Perhaps a foretaste of what was to follow. We ordered our food - mine was an absolute German staple (Schnitzel und Pommes). What came was like a piece of leather. It was massively overcooked. After trying to eat the food, because I was hungry and recognising it was not the waiters fault, I politely asked to speak to the manager. I was told there was no manager present. I then asked to speak to the shift supervisor; again no-one was available. After some discussion between the staff, the waiter told me I would not “get anything” (I assume he meant a discount) because I had eaten half the meal. I hadn’t actually asked for anything - except to speak to someone in charge. Let me be quite clear. I would have been content with an acknowledgment from someone other than the waiter, that things had gone wrong. I received nothing and no one appeared to care. So I paid the bill and left. I have read the reviews online; our first visit agrees with the majority posted. The second visit however, was a world away. My message is clear to all future customers. Keep your expectations low.

A very disappointing experience. The restaurant's emptiness should have been a red flag. The food was clearly pre-made and reheated, with the vegetables probably chopped yesterday—or earlier in the morning—and left to dry out by the time they reached the table. The waitstaff seemed completely lost and disoriented, and the prices were higher than at far better places. Definitely not recommended.

I had the best experience with this restaurant, the food is top notch and the ambience is good too

Kudammi's side street Mainekestrasse. The old center of West Berlin, which has become very quiet in the last decade. The restaurant's popular dish is, for example, the German Eis-Bein. You can't get that in terribly many places these days, I only know a few in West Berlin. It must be in the east. Decent beer selection too. I go there often when I'm in Berlin.

I love this place. When I'm in Berlin I'm drawn there. Not cheap but top quality. And somehow typical Berlin. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

The two of us stopped there for lunch today, the service was very friendly and offered me a comfortable seat (I'm pregnant), the cards were brought quickly and drinks and food were taken. It wasn't a problem that we shared a portion. The currywurst was pretty tasty, service was friendly. We'd love to come back, keep it up.

Great old Berlin restaurant with an excellent pork knuckle

Meatballs and knuckle of pork were okay, veal liver was not tasty, the mashed potatoes were unseasoned and inedible.

I will not recommend this restaurant. We waited a long time and the order didn't come completely. We complained to the waitress and she told us that it was our fault because we didn't say our order twice. She had no problem showing this behavior even though there were other customers there who saw it. Very arrogant! Now I understand why the restaurant is almost empty.

Awful. Literally served molded bread . . . twice!! Salmon dry and tasted like it spent 2 years in a salt mine. Took 2 hours to get the appetizers. Then after 2 hours forgot one of the mains. This couldn’t have been a worst experience. Don’t waste your time or money.

Unfortunately a very chaotic stay. The wrong food was delivered and our food arrived at a completely delayed time for the group. It tasted good, but I didn't think it was good value for money.

This german restaurant was a highlight of our stay in Berlin. They offer a great selection of authentic german food and everyone in the place was very friendly, both the employees and the customers. Reservations are a good idea because the place is packed!

Got the schnitzel and goulash. Overall solid, schnitzel was crunchy though maybe a little tough. Goulash was on the salty side. Reasonable prices.

It was very strange the post of 1 star is rejected by the restaurant. Maybe this is the way to keep their 4,3 star with bad food and service It was a nice restaurant but not anymore. I have ordered steak medium rare and it turns out to be well done and even over cooked. The hash brown becomes a baked potato without any seasoning and with a lot of salad dressing. The description said it comes with salad but I am not sure that little portion with a large piece of butter can be called salad. Paying almost 30 euros I am sure there are a lot better options than that. Cannot imagine not feeling full after visiting a German restaurant.

The location isn’t bad really at all! It’s off the busy part of the street which makes it better than the other. It wasn’t crowded so it was easy to find a spot. The food was just fine. However nothing to really go on about. If you want to get off the Main Street then this is the place. But don’t stop for just the food. You can find other places that are better.

Today (26 august 2024) we ordered Schnitzel for two. And we were served an extremely dry and un eatable Schnitzel prepared in a microwave. One of the schnitzels was replaced by another almost just as bad and dry as the first one. All three was half the size of a Schnitzel normally served in this city. As we were paying the bill the table beside us had the same dish, but now the size was twice as big, but still dry as they said. Do not go to this restaurant if you want decent German food.

One should not listen to or be influenced by negative opinions; they're just bitter pro-Ukrainians who didn't like the restaurant's amusing advertising portraying Zelensky as a piggy bank (extorting money from German taxpayers who didn't ask for anything). 😁

The Krombacher Brauhaus really surprised me. The service was super nice, attentive and brought everything quickly. The Berliner Eisbein was really tasty, there’s nothing to complain about. The only negative point: the seating outside is pretty sporadic and the tables are really small. Otherwise great!

Das Krombacher Brauhaus hat mich echt überrascht. Die Bedienung war super nett, aufmerksam und hat alles schnell gebracht. Das Berliner Eisbein war richtig lecker, da gibt’s nichts zu meckern. Einziger Minuspunkt: Draußen ist die Bestuhlung ziemlich sporadisch, und die Tische sind echt klein. Sonst aber top!

A good place to eat well. I got a table spontaneously, I was lucky. Nice service, had a lot to do and still very friendly and attentive. The schnitzel was OK but not the best, unfortunately a bit dry. The potato salad was OK too. Great atmosphere!

We sat here (three of us) to have a drink. Delicious Weihenstephaner beer, white wine and apple juice. We wanted a small snack (4:00 PM) so we shared a plate of fries with currywurst. Delicious, can't say anything else. We shared an apple strudel and it was delicious too. The female (redhead for recognition) waitress was also very nice and very cheerful. I have no idea what dinner is like, but I just think you can enjoy a delicious meal here (German cuisine). Would definitely come back here if only for the friendliness.

Unfortunately I have to give this place a low rating because the food was really bad. I’ve never seen such a smallllll portion of schweinemedaillons. The meat was also overcooked and burnt. It was 30 eur for this, price value ratio ain’t good. Service staff and ambiance was nice though

Atmosphere | 3 Was welcomed by a gentleman who was very kind to set a place for our party; his welcome was friendly and appreciated. The atmosphere was good; the only drawback being that the prevailing wind blows smoke from patrons with cigarettes into the indoor seating area. It is a cozy location. Food | 4 The desert was very good and the items selected were tasty; not too salty and the meat was tender. The food seemed consistent with other reviews. Service | 2 The primary disappointment was in the receipt of the check after payment had processed and noting that the tip had automatically been included and an additional charge indicated on the meal. I am not certain I would have received a receipt, had I not asked. It would have been better to have received the invoice from the waitstaff such that the customer could review, ask any questions, and then make payment. Given the reviews previously, I was disappointed with this aspect of the service.

Horrible ! We had food poisoning! The pork smelled musty, it was inedible and then sick for several days... In addition, there is a tourist trap where the waitress herself chooses the tip that she includes in the bill. You come out sick and ripped off.

Although it's located in the touristy area near Ku'damm, this place oozes authentic German vibes. The service is extremely friendly (they speak English) and took care of me while I waited for my date to arrive. We got a Pfefferlinge soup to start (tasty!) and my date also got a Goulash soup as her main, which she reported was also delicious. I ordered the Schnitzel as my entree of course, and when they brought it out, the waitress noted how small it was and brought me a whole other cut for free! How nice is that?! The Schnitzel itself was good and comes with Preiselbeeren and a vinegar-based potato salad, which I liked a lot. We were tempted to get dessert, but sadly the only traditional option they have is the Apfelstrudel, which I'm not super fond of. But overall, I really liked this one! With the super friendly service in a convenient area and a solid menu, I can definitely see myself coming back for more. Maybe I'll see you there! Prost!

I dined at this place with my husband and two nieces two nights ago, having come specifically to have Spätzle. We had walked past this restaurant several times. On this very warm summer evening, at least half the tables were empty in the front dining areas that have large windows and overlook the street. At least two of those tables would have fit a group four, but had the “Reserviert” signs on them. Another two tables could have been pushed together to accommodate 4 guests. But we were led straight to a far table at the back dining room, where there were no other guests. Was that because we were with a child and a teenager? In a little while, a group of three, from what it seemed, tourists were seated at the table next to us. They seemed taken aback by their table as well; even slightly more tucked away than we were. For my young nieces’ sake, I decided we will stay. We dined quickly and left. I even still left a tip. As we left, the tables with the “Reserviert” signs were still vacant. Even though we received a quick service and the food was okay, I did not have the experience I had expected. Despite the old-time ambiance, the atmosphere regarding the guests was … selective.

The food is great and the staff are very friendly even with a very busy full house. It's clearly a popular place locally as I went in for an early dinner and I think the family behind me got the last table that wasn't pre-booked.

Had an awful experience here. Totally not recommending! We were a group of 20+ people, our waiter was absolutely unfriendly and not helpful. We all speak German, but that didn’t hinder him from discussing us simply while standing next to us. Some people came from other cities and countries and simply wanted to try traditional wieniese kitchen. Well, they got an unforgettable experience: waiters in traditional places are “supposed” to be unfriendly? Not an ok reason as for me. Our guests were shocked in a negative way( they were like : is it everywhere like that? Why is that man so unfriendly? A Lady at bar was absolut sweet and nice. But this place in general? Disaster…

Traditional German food at its finest. The wait staff was so helpful with recommendations for both beer and food. Their suggestions were perfect! We were full but made room for apple strudel with ice cream and whipped cream... I would highly suggest you do the same. Look it up on Google maps as it is slightly off the beaten path in Berlin.

The Eisbein was a little salty but delicious. The atmosphere is also great. However, when I asked for a receipt before paying, they said they would give it to me after payment, but when I checked, I found that a 10% tip had been charged. If you had asked, I would have gladly given it to you... I said it lightly and moved on since it was money I was going to give anyway, but I felt like I wasn't able to finish off the delicious food well.

I was here and want to say that the food is tasty. I wanted to try traditional German food. The staff is friendly, smiles all the time and open for conversation. The waitress from Poland spoke my language that was nice to hear and perfect experience in Berlin.

What a disappointment We have waited more than 1 hour and 45 minutes for our meal. And the excuse was:Sorry we have a group inhouse . Unbelievable . The food we have waited for such a long time was below average i must say! Do not recommend at all ! The staff did their best but with so little staff it is not possible to manage this crowd of overbooking !

Kind of cosy and traditional German place. At our visit the staff was nice but not attentive to our group of 8 guests. The food was below average with too thin, hence dry cooked, and not crispy schnitzel, the grilled pork, sausage and meatball and potatoes were dry and probably warmed up from earlier. We had higher expectations even though the reviews were divided. Hope you will put an extra effort into it in the future.
