Indisches Restaurant Swarg (Seit 2005) in Bamberg

We received extremely friendly service at Swarg. The food was really delicious and still very inexpensive. It's really worth taking a look here.

On Friday at 7 p.m. the restaurant was quite full and unfortunately we were seated in the back corner of the restaurant despite having a reservation. The service was very friendly throughout, but unfortunately forgot about us at times. For starters we ordered pakoras, which were to be served with a dip. Unfortunately the dip came 10 minutes later when the pakoras were already cold. With the dips came the main course plates, the main course and the naan bread that was ordered as a starter. Despite the existing spiciness scale, my chickpea curry was printed on the menu without a spiciness level. The food should be labeled correctly so that people like me, who don't tolerate spicy food well, can then choose a mild dish. The dish would have received at least 1 out of 3 chilis on an Indian scale. I told the waitress all this when I was clearing up, but unfortunately I had the feeling that she didn't understand me properly. The situation was a bit unfortunate for me because I could hardly eat my main course, but I'm sure that the next visit will be better. The reviews on Google are almost all super positive.

Sorry forgot to take pictures. Went here because I was craving Indian food and ordered Lamm Vindaloo and my daughter ordered chicken vindaloo and my husband ordered vegetarian option. The food were fantastic. We cleaned everything including basmati rice. The vindaloo is spicy as it should be and we love it. Service is fast and efficient. Staff less friendly but we came for food. Highly recommended.

Food is fine it's good enouph but very dangerous for people with allergien since they have no idea what has nuts/Lactose and the stuff that shouldnt they are unsure (don't know the menu)

I am extremely disappointed with the food. One of my worst experience. The reason I was informed was that the cook was not informed that the guest is Indian. Because of the food was not with Indian taste. According to me the food was stale, irrelevant to the nationality of it’s a Indian restaurant everyone expect to Serve Good food not a spoiled food.

Super delicious food. We had two vegetarian/vegan dishes. Super tasty, great service and the ambience is absolutely great. At the end there was a schnapps on the house. In addition, the sanitary facilities were also very well maintained. Clear recommendation!

Located at the heart of city, warm and inviting ambiance and he restaurant’s decor strikes a nice balance between modern and traditional Indian elements, which adds to the overall atmosphere. Nice restaurant with delicious food (North Indian cuisine). We were there in the evening during the week. We liked the atmosphere. The food was very tasty. Only the service wasn't quite as attentive as expected. Very nice and friendly, we just needed a little patience to be able to order something else. That surprised us at first because there weren't many guests there. But maybe everyone was busy with delivery/pickup orders at times. As in many Indian restaurants, you can be happy as a vegetarian here. My recommendation: Dal, Pakoras, Palak Paneer, Chana Masala, Lassi

We love Indian food de we took a taxi to get to this restaurant. We were not disappointed the food was delicious and the service very kind! Go there if you have a chance!

We spontaneously went to eat there after a stroll through the city. We wanted traditional Indian cuisine and based on the reviews we went there. Sufficient seating available. Service very friendly and quick. The meal itself was a poem. Chicken served tender and hot in the pan. Paired with rice and various sauces. I had cachew sauce and it was to die for. Plus the bread that comes fresh from the tandoor oven. In terms of price, the food is absolutely fair and you usually pay more for lower quality elsewhere. We recommend the restaurant 100%

Very nice Indian restaurant. There are mainly North Indian dishes and a large selection of vegetarian dishes. There is a large outside seating area. Particularly noteworthy is the Indian Chai.

Best Indian in town. Very tasty, authentic Indian cuisine that lives from its wonderful colors, scents and spices. The whole street smells! On request there are also thali, which are different dishes to try. Only salad and soup are better swapped for the many other delicious starters here.

average food, staff doesn’t seem to care much. They insisted me paying in cash although they had card machines. Overall not so good experience.

We were looking for a restaurant with gluten free options and were happy that the menu showed allergens and gluten. But, the experience was terrible. We waited for one hour before we got our dinner. We had ordered two different duck dishes which looked the same, were both tasteless in some red sauce. The meet was chewy and dry and nearly inedible. No vegetables, no potatoes as you normally expect in a vindaloo dish. The best was the basmati rice. Never again.

In the end, a happy ending: Unfortunately, our delivery came quite late and we were then kindly explained that there was a technical problem. As a kind gesture we received a voucher and mango juice. The food was super tasty. Next time we'll come straight by :-)

Wir waren an einem Montagabend hier essen. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und schnell. Das Essen hat ausgezeichnet geschmeckt und das Ambiente war toll. Ein Besuch ist dieses Restaurant absolut wert.

The food is very tasty and we would order much more often if the opening and delivery times weren't so late. We've tried everything: pre-ordering, ordering directly at the opening, etc. Delivery time is given as 6:15 p.m. but the food is rarely there before 7 p.m. Unfortunately, as a family with small children, this is too late for us.

We have known about Swarg for years. Today we had lunch with the grandchildren. The young people didn't yet know Indian food. The positive response from the young people was even nicer. As before, all dishes were very tasty. As always, the service was extremely courteous and friendly. Swarg is a very good choice for Indian food.

The food was okay, but the service was bad (no one came to our table to order drinks etc.) and the prices were too high for the bad service.

Quiet, dignified restaurant with good Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, it has become significantly more expensive recently. Unlike in other Indian restaurants, there is no papadam or similar greeting from the kitchen at the beginning, and the schnapps at the end is more of a booze. The food was delicious, except that "spicy" doesn't really mean spicy. If you actually want to eat spicy, you should order "very spicy". The decor is Indian-colorful, but in an elegant way and not as overloaded and intrusive as elsewhere. The service is also unobtrusively friendly.

Dies war unser erster und auch letzter Besuch in dem Restaurant. Das Ambiente war echt schön gestaltet und passend indisch dekoriert, doch zum Rest können wir echt nichts Gutes berichten. Der Service war teilweise freundlich, kam aber nur auf einen zu, wenn man auch die Hand gehoben hatte, ansonsten wurden wir eher ignoriert. Sowohl bei Getränken als auch beim Essen war die Wartezeit unverschämt lange... Und auch das Essen selbst war eher mild und ungenügend. Die Portionen sind sehr klein und dafür ist das Preisleistungsverhältnis definitiv zu teuer. Aus unserer Sicht war es ein flop, wir kommen nicht mehr.

Nach einigen Jahren habe ich mich wieder mal vom Duft der indischen Küche in das Restaurant Swarg leiten lassen. Früher war ich gerne hier zu Gast, da das angebotene Essen einerseits authentisch und es mitunter auch die beste indische Küche in der Umgebung war. Über die Jahre hinweg scheint sich einiges geändert zu haben. Die Einrichtung ist weiterhin gemütlich und auch der hintere Bereich im Restaurant wurde inzwischen schön eingerichtet. Die indische Wohlfühlatmosphäre gilt also weiterhin. Geschmacklich waren die servierten Speisen solide, wenn auch nicht mehr so gut wie zu den Anfangsjahren. Enttäuscht wurde ich allerdings vom aktuellen Preis-Leistungsniveau. Man muss sich heutzutage hier im Restaurant Swarg also darauf gefasst machen, dass man von dem servierten Gericht nicht statt wird, aber im Vergleich zur Portionsgröße und zu anderen indischen Restaurants in der Region verhältnismäßig viel bezahlen muss. Selbst am Reis wurde leider gespart, was für mich vollkommen unverständlich erscheint. Evtl. kann oder muss man in Bamberg inzwischen aber ein solches Preisniveau bei durchschnittlicher Qualität anstreben. Ich als Einheimischer, der auch nicht zwingend an innerstädtische Bamberger Restaurants gebunden ist, werde allerdings zukünftig eher alternative indische Restaurants in der Gegend ansteuern. Falsch macht man allerdings mit einem Besuch im Restaurant Swarg nichts, soweit man sich des gehobenen Preis-Leistungsverhältnisses bewusst ist.

Wir haben sehr lecker hier gegessen. Unser dreijähriger war auch sehr zufrieden. Zwar hat der Kellner eine Kleinigkeit verwechselt und alles in allem sind auch die Preise entsprechend heutiger Zeit etwas höher geworden aber schmecken tuts großartig. Wir kommen gerne wieder. 😋😋😋

just your very average indian restaurant in germany. place is very nicely decorated inside, very cozy atmosphere. there is a good variety of dishes and drinks to choose from. the food was good but not the best indian food i’ve had (having grown up in singapore). i had the butter chicken and mango lassi. after i finished my meal i was feeling really nauseous so i had to rush to the bathroom. this restaurant has really clean and nice bathrooms. i don’t know wether the nausea was related to the food or because i ate too much, or from some other food during the day, so i am still giving this restaurant a high rating as the food was quite good and the waiters were friendly.

Bamberg kann sich glücklich schätzen so ein super indisches Restaurant zu haben. Wir haben in einem tollen Ambiente wunderbar gegessen. Es wird alles frisch und ohne Mikrowelle zubereitet. Die Preise für diese Art von Qualität sind top. Immer wieder gerne.

Sehr leckeres Essen, freundliches Personal. Nur zu empfehlen! Haben zu zweit etwa 50€ bezahlt was mit Vorspeise völlig in Ordnung ist.

Insgesamt war das Essen in Ordnung, allerdings war der Fleischanteil unserer Hühnergerichte doch recht überschaubar. Ja, ja, die Inflation. Vor dem Hintergrund war das Preis-Lesitungsverhältnis dann auch recht grenzwertig. Nichts besonderes.

Wir waren Gäste aus Berlin und waren total begeistert von diesen leckeren Gerichten . Wer in Bamberg ist , muss das unbedingt genießen. Peter und Sabine
