Nice evening, good food and fine drinks, very pleasant and quick service.

Really nice atmosphere, value for money for food and drinks really good here in the region. Unfortunately, 2 stars deducted because there is no lactose-free milk or milk alternatives. In my opinion, this is now a must because it really affects a lot of people. You don't have to have the entire selection, but at least one should be standard. Especially since many dishes are also labeled “vegan”.

We were there on New Year's Eve. In the chalet. Was very quaint. The menu with fondue was very tasty and had exactly the right portion.

The original is highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and you can express any wish and if possible it will be implemented. The ambience, especially in the evening with the lights, is a cozy, beautiful atmosphere. The breakfast offer is very inviting. The menu in general is a journey for the palate. Anyone who has ever been to the ORIGINAL will always be happy to come back. We the Schöpflin / Boos family definitely do

Was there today for the first time, and according to my partner, also for the last time. So let's start at the beginning, the entrance towards the parking lot is a really high curb, a small warung would be quite good. Then came into the restaurant, it was still very empty. You were still served well there. Then ordered 2 starters, although one (the goulash soup) was already out. Sorry, we're talking about a Sunday. Then say that in advance if you give her a ticket then it's ok, but saying it's sold out now isn't good. Then came the appetizer of lamb's lettuce with bacon and crackers. The taste is ok, but the price/performance is subpar. Given the quantity, a price of €5 would be appropriate. Ah, in between my beer was empty, I tried to order a new one by saying sorry, sorry or pointing at my empty glass. Unfortunately I was just ignored. Then ordered from the other waitress, who just replied, “It has to be that way, then we’ll get confused with the tables, really now?” The guest's problem? I do not think so. Well the good thing was, the beer still came. Then for the main course, tarte flambée with pinsa dough and rump steak with fries. You almost had to look for the tarte flambée on the board. The portion was very small, hardly any toppings and all for just under €16. Here again the price/performance is below ground, for the size max 10€ even with Pinsa dough. For the rump steak, ordered medium, got medium. The fries were really good, they were probably homemade. The rump steak was done well, but it was a bit cool. So that the last quarter of the steak was just cold when I ate it. And I definitely didn't eat slowly. Another thing we noticed is that there is a cat running around in the restaurant, is that necessary? Personally, I am allergic to cat hair, sorry that my mood drops as soon as I spot a cat eating. But we are talking about a restaurant here and not an open terrace.

Ambience something different. Food Disappointing New Year's Eve menu: Nut salad very fine, large portion. Cheese fondu (flavorless flour paste. With disastrous bread) Tiramisu taste OK but otherwise just embarrassing. And that for 68 euros. Sorry, just embarrassing for gastronomy. Dirty and broken dishes. Waiting for drinks for an hour. Or not get it at all. You'll look in vain for festive decorations. A tip for next time. Something to grab on the table or offer. A menu or drinks menu without normal prices is disappointing when you see what the food actually costs, even for that it's too expensive. A little decko on the dessert Oh yes, cheese fondue should also taste like cheese and not like flour mush. Bread with taste, but preferably a day old. Tastes better. And a few nice words from the boss or employee wouldn't be bad either. And music is a matter of taste, but it can definitely be done better. I can also give you help privately. Just get in touch ;-)

We were looking for a place where we could eat comfortably and "normally" a la carte and found it. Food was super tasty. Service very friendly and professional. Ambience pleasantly quiet. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend mit der Familie und einem sehr sehr leckeren Essen. Fünf verschiedene Essen und jeder war begeistert! Sehr empfehlenswert! Freundliche unkomplizierte Bedienung trotz vollem Haus und dann werden wir auch die Desserts probieren!

Food was excellent, tasted great, Unfortunately there were 2 stones in the lamb's lettuce, the second stone was so big that a piece of my tooth broke off. Therefore only 3 stars. Service and ambience top!

My wife and I have been there four times now and each time we had to wait up to 30 minutes for the drinks to be taken and the food after an hour!! Never again, the owner is very snooty and arrogant. Ambience is great but with such staff I would rather have a picnic.

Very pleasant atmosphere, very cozy, something different. Good selection of food and drinks. Something for every taste. Food was very good, there were four of us, four different dishes, nothing to complain about. Everything tasted great. You definitely have to try the tarte flambée. Also the pasta dishes... = again at any time. All in all, you can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. After another visit or two I may well rate this restaurant 5 Stars. It is very impressive in its greenhouse setting. Informal and very welcoming, staffed by attentive and polite young people who invariably speak English. An extensive and modern menu, with very good prices. I can say that the Carpaccio is as good as any I've had, and the others all enjoyed their meals as well. Highly recommended. **UPDATE 2023** Im Original remains very good. Not five-stars but certainly four. This is a busy, popular place. Through the week one can likely get a table without a reservation but likely not on a weekend. The staff is so busy when the restaurant is full that you will be ignored if you stand at the door and wait for someone to tell you there's no free table. The menu is unchanged for some years but it is a varied combination of trendy dishes and some regional (like flammenkuchen). Prices are good.

We stayed in chalet: Unfortunately the cheese fondue was very bad. Hardly any cheese but a lot of sauce thickener. Really without any relation to a real cheese fondue. You had to fish out the added mushrooms with a spoon because it was so thin. Tasted like a thick, creamy cheese sauce. But not a single string of cheese showed up!!! According to many other reviews, it was almost to be expected that the reservation didn't work out properly. At least we were treated to an aperitif on the house. Cozy atmosphere, but what's the point if there's only cheese fondue.... Please don't skimp on the cheese, it'll be fine!

Das Ambiente in der großen Glashalle ist ganz nett. Das mediterrane Getue ist allerdings FAKE. Wenn selbst die einheimischen und die Carte dominierenden Bratkartoffeln verbrannt, und das Hirschragout der Tageskarte lauwarm auf eiskaltem Teller serviert wird, möchte man dem Chef de la cuisine dann doch nur noch eine qualifizierte Umschulung zu Lasten der Rentenversicherung empfehlen. Die Organisation dieses Betriebes ist chaotisch, die Wartezeiten waren bei mehreren Besuchen IMMER zu lang.

Reservation and confirmation work great. I also find the reminder helpful. Service and food were - as always - very good. Since our table was right next to the window panes/doors to the outside area, it was very drafty and relatively cool.

Very nice and cozy restaurant. The service was top notch and mastered her craft. The food looked and tasted excellent. The only drawback was the building (doors), where there was quite a draft. Not comfortable for staying for a long time. It's a shame, this distorts the overall picture a little.

Delicious food, great ambience and good service, super nice

I love this restaurant 💕 I've enjoyed going there for years. No matter whether it's a special occasion or just because, you can drink a glass of wine and eat a snack with your girlfriend. I also think the prices here are okay given today's conditions. Very friendly service 👍 not intrusive but always there when you need it. Always suitable dishes for different seasons. Now delicious chanterelles in different variations. Flammkuchen or 🍝😋 I definitely recommend 👌

Some reviewers incorrectly write that it was a great idea to convert a greenhouse into a restaurant. The "Vinolivio" as the "Im Original" used to be called was never a greenhouse, but was built specifically as a restaurant. As far as I know, there was/is a counterpart in Schallstadt and Hohberg. The design all around is great, as is the outdoor area Very nice. The service was always good during my stays, the food was always great. I think the lamb's lettuce is particularly good here, although I don't think the name is particularly good Recommend. Also ideal for coffee and cake. The cakes taste very good. The continuous opening times are great, as almost everything else in EM is now crying out for renovation somehow not to the rest of the house.

Nice ambience and good food. In the past, there has often been poor service in the form of queries as to whether anything else is needed, drinks are wanted, etc. + long waiting times for the food. On the last visit, however, the staff were very attentive and there was only a short waiting time for the food - it should stay that way, then you'll come back more often!

When the sun is shining you can sit in the sun, and the house is also beautifully designed. The food is good, the bread wasn't good for a while, that's changed :-)

That really doesn't work. Apparently they had too much success and now think they can rest on their laurels. Opening hours until midnight on Saturday. At 10:30 p.m. it was not possible to get ice cream or coffee. The bill was brought to us at 10:50 p.m. and 20 minutes later all the staff were gone. Opening hours until midnight? Kitchen until 11 p.m.? We won't be back that quickly. Luckily there are others Unfortunately we went back yesterday. If you order a KiBa and a bottle is empty, of course no new one will be opened for you. Simply fill half the glass with ice and cherry juice. I let the glass go back. When it came back the ice cream was gone and well stirred. Not much banana juice was made pure. Due to the lack of ice, it was completely at room temperature. So the bottles are not even stored in the refrigerator. People are also saving more and more on food. The portions are okay, but please don't expect too much cheese in the cheese sauce or even enough sauce to cover all the pasta. In addition, all the food came lukewarm. But when paying by card at the end, the tip was carefully pointed out.

Sehr freundliche und schnelle Bedienung, gute Auswahl an Speisen (u.a. Flammkuchen, Rumpsteak). Wer's noch eiliger hat kann auch einen QR Code am Tisch scannen und über's Smartphone bestellen. Wir kommen gerne hier vorbei, wenn wir mal in der Gegend sind.

Never again. We were just there and wanted to order two tarte flambées to take away. Today was the second time we were expelled. Apparently too busy for that To prepare food ToGo. But on site it means less work or what?!? Sorry but the service and friendliness urgently needs to be worked on. One star is already too many.

Wir haben kurzfristig reserviert und wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Trotz vieler Gäste war das Personal sehr freundlich, sehr zuvorkommend, bestens organisiert und wirkte nicht gestresst . In der Küche wurde sogar noch ein Lehrling geduldig eingewiesen. Das Essen hat vorzüglich geschmeckt und es waren richtig große Portionen. Tolle Atmosphäre, super Service, geniales Essen! Vielen Dank an alle!!!

Nothing to say, fast, efficient, fair price

The atmosphere is very nice and I really liked it. However, we had to wait 1.5 hours for our lunch. The taste of the food was okay but not above average. The portions of schnitzel with fries were rather small.

We wanted to have lunch and sat outside, where we were ignored for 20 minutes, even though we were clearly noticed. We were looked at several times, but it was more important to clear the tables and sort the parmesan! We weren't even made aware that there might only be service inside... unfortunately, it's a shame and disappointing! When more guests sat down at any table inside and were served straight away, we left. Unfortunately, we can't rate the ambience or the food because we didn't even get the chance to do so.

We went to this restaurant for dinner with a group of 5 people. The service was very quick, nice and professional. The food was very good and the price-performance ratio was perfectly fine. The ambience was very nice and the temperature in the restaurant was optimal. I'm writing this because we were very unsure about even visiting this restaurant because of the bad reviews online. Conclusion: We would love to come back

When we asked where our food was, the waitress said in an unfriendly, stressed tone "she wouldn't stand in the kitchen and cook, there would be a lot going on and we could leave if we didn't like it" That's not how you treat customers! That was the first time we didn't tip a cent! For a mid-priced restaurant, the staff should also be friendly - even if it's busy It's a shame - things were different here

Location is deceiving! 2 stars for the beautiful location 🌴 and that's it! Already in the entrance area you can only feel the bad mood of the service staff: the service was unfriendly towards us, probably because we didn't make a reservation. Since there didn't seem to be any tables left, we were allowed to sit at the counter and the waitress would let us know as soon as a table became available. We waited 60 minutes because the waitress had “intentionally” forgotten about us, even though we had drawn our attention several times and asked! When we got upset and angry, we finally got a table, a table that was flooded with cleaning water (the menus were soggy). The food is okay but not of good quality, the meat dishes are too small. You get a mini bowl of brown water as a sauce!🤢 I can do the tarte flambée better at home😁 A tip is also required (brazenness), I deliberately didn't give one for such poor service. That's why I absolutely cannot recommend the restaurant for eating, it's ok for drinking: you can't get drunk with so much ice in your drinks😉...

I'm a fairly regular customer at this restaurant and I'm increasingly disappointed. On Wednesday the 22nd I was there with two customers at around 1:30 p.m. We sat on the terrace and after 20 minutes no one came to us even though the waitress saw us outside. So I went in to ask and was told they don't serve on the patio! We then decided to eat inside and at the end it felt like the waitress was waiting for a tip. I'm sorry, but I'm very disappointed that even though the waitress saw us waiting outside, she didn't bother to serve us or tell us that the patio was closed.

The food is very tasty, the service leaves nothing to be desired. We like to come to the restaurant often.

Very nice glass house style restaurant with large parking lot and large outdoor seating area. Very comfortable to relax in. The menu is very large and varied, everyone will find something to suit their taste.

Starter with bread, yesterday's bread was too hard, the main meal wasn't good

Incompetent staff, out of 4 things we ordered we recieved 2 and we were waiting for our food but then when we asked they said theyre closing soon and wont serve us anymore, the steak I had was really chewy and not worth even 2€ let alone the price they put on it

We have been frequenting the restaurant and each time we have had terrible experiences with the service team. Today the afternoon schedule was really too much. After cordially asking for service several times, we were literally ignored with conversations and laughter behind the counter. We decided to leave and never return. Freiburg is a beautiful city with incredible restaurants. This joint will NEVER AGAIN

Outside peak times and after selecting a table within sight of the counter, several waitresses strolled past us without paying us any attention; the gossip at the counter apparently seemed more important than the guest! Even after a “I'll be right back” the path went back to the bar community, so that after 15 minutes of arrogant disregard we left this beautiful ambience to look for a better place to feel comfortable. Therefore no “star” for the service!

Breakfast : bad breakfast. Portion far too small and too expensive. Cheap rolls and very small croissants. Lunch and dinner are good for that!

The food is delicious. But the service is unbearable - snooty, cheeky and arrogant. Never again.

Price-performance ratio was very mediocre (I had a tarte flambée) and the sanitary facilities were unfortunately in poor condition. :-( Everyone can have a bad day. I suspect/hope that was an exception.

You wait forever until you get something to eat. We had starters and main courses. The starters came after an hour and the main courses again after an hour. Never again

Great ambience but incredibly bad service! According to the website, the café opens at 9 a.m. We were there at 9am to have breakfast. The service came at about 9:03 a.m. She saw us at the door but didn't open it. At 9:08 a.m. she came and opened the door. This cheerful nature forced out a “good morning” and disappeared, visibly annoyed, to clean the tables. Then, almost without a word, she placed the cards on the table and left again. We then left at 9:15 am. Of course we didn't say goodbye either. As we were leaving the restaurant, more staff came towards us.

Ambience was great. Unfortunately I can't sign anything else! The service was very rude, unfriendly and arrogant! The food was OK, unfortunately the sauce on the pasta didn't taste like anything. PS: Air conditioning or ventilation would be an advantage.

This was the second time we were there. The first time we were not impressed with the food, but we thought we'll give it another try. Bad idea. The food was totally overcooked and didn't look fresh. I should not have eaten it. I was out until the next day with an upset stomach and worse (I spare you the details). Service is kind and atmosphere ok, especially outside. But don't expect good food. I certainly will not ever visit again.

Over dertig tafels in de "Kas" / "Treibhaus" met twee dames in de bediening, volle hut, dat is gas geven, dus een plekje krijgen en het eten duurt wat langer. Coole vibes geeft het restaurant, leuk met de planten en lichtjes. Gerechten simpel maar oke.. alles voor een snelle hap, niets bijzonders.

The restaurant has changed a lot compared to earlier times and now seems quite impersonal. Online reservations do not allow for subsequent changes to additional services such as table setting or champagne. In addition, emails are not answered and only an automated service can be reached by telephone. The table setting was disappointing: a narrow paper tablecloth, two napkins and two glasses were all that was provided. The reference to the special ceremony was also not addressed, which made the additional note offered seem completely in vain. The very tasty Mediterranean food and the appealing, youthful atmosphere, which is also pleasant for older audiences, should be positively highlighted. However, it was inappropriate for the male waiter to ask for a tip - a practice that is not common in the restaurant industry.

Two negative points: very warm in the greenhouse, and bad parking situation, otherwise everything was great.

The food was a disaster! Penne Gorgonzola consisted of an indefinable, watery sauce. We (3 people, same dish) didn't even taste the Gorgonzola. Since spaghetti came first with my dish (penne ordered, which everyone around me heard except the waiter) and I let it go back, I took the penne dish home barely touched and didn't let it go back again. The next day I prepared a gorgonzola sauce myself, it was worlds!!! Sad but true. We were definitely there for the first and last time. In addition, the waiter was in a very bad mood and you hardly dared to order another drink, goodbye to sales!

I have rarely eaten such a tasteless meal in a restaurant. And the TK Schnitzel topped everything.👎 That's not possible. My greatest respect to the service staff. Despite the absolutely understaffed and full restaurant, always friendly and helpful. Still won't come again.

Food was ok so far. Had the Schnitzel Verdura, unfortunately the schnitzel was bland and could have been left in the pan longer. Vegetables were surprisingly spicy (but weren't on the menu), fried potatoes were good. Service was friendly and responded immediately to complaints at the table.

The linguine with chanterelles was nothing - lukewarm, almost no sauce, zero taste. One waiter was very nice, the other was annoyed and grumpy. The ambience was nice. Nevertheless, I won't come anymore. What use is the most beautiful ambience to me if every beginner cook does it better?

Despite reservations for a large group, there were not enough seats. The hot drinks (including coffee) were lukewarm and only came after a delay of about 20-30 minutes. For a simple breakfast (yogurt, croissants) we waited 3/4 hours, even though there was nothing going on. The variety of fruits has become less with each additional order, e.g. Yoghurt with just melon and apples. The service was extremely unfriendly: people rolled their eyes when we wanted to pay separately.

Service a complete disaster, food a complete disaster, result: no need to go there anymore
