Il Casolare in Berlin

I was there last night on a Friday; I've rarely, if ever, encountered such unfriendly staff. If I may give you some advice: skip that restaurant and find a decent sourdough pizza a few minutes away, because I'd give their pizza a maximum of 1-2 stars. There are plenty of better restaurants.

I've never been so disappointed with a pizza... the staff were so unfriendly. I'll never go there again. The pizza wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. The service staff, however, were the worst. They even insulted us at the end.

My son and I are big fans of this place. The pizzas are excellent and the service is very friendly and helpful.

The waiters were very unenthusiastic, but the food was all delicious. Great atmosphere, shared tables. Young people and families. Pleasant setting next to the greenery and water. A fabulous tiramisu.

After its sister restaurant Due Forni changed hands, it now serves some of the best pizza in Berlin, outside of the currently hyped Neapolitan style.

Great pizza pasta! Check also the Tiramisu and the Tartufo. But unless you are up for a DIY salad, I would advise you to avoid ordering one. Book your table well ahead as the place is always full!

Came on a slow Sunday. We sat down, were given menus. After we decided what we wanted, I tried to wave a waiter down. The girl working there refused to take our order, and called a colleague. The colleague, howver, was too busy standing in the door looking out. After 10 minutes, we decided to leave. The girl waiter even refused eye contact - very rude and reserved personality. Dont come here if you care about your time.

Thank you for considering the little extra requests! We had a festive and delicious meal with the whole group. Our young people from the neighborhood really enjoyed it. Especially with the hot chili oil 🌶️❤️✨😋👌

For me, they have the best pizza in Berlin. I have to go back every now and then. The food comes very quickly.

Large pizzas for a reasonable price—not cheap but not expensive either; you get a lot for your money! Friendly staff and a beautiful location.

Outrageous; I've been a customer there for years... but not anymore. A pizza crudo picante, a mixed salad, a 1L mineral water, and an espresso dopio at the end for 39 euros... You didn't even hear the last shot!!!!!

Much has already been written about this institution and its branches. I've been visiting Xasolare for 25 years when I'm in Berlin, but now I rarely do. I found it all the more shocking that within 2 or 3 years the cheapest pizza was increased from €5.40 to €11. Sure, it has become more expensive everywhere, especially in Berlin, but over 100%? Really awesome.

We ate pizza here last night. Then we had stomach pains all night long. The dough had remained raw or had gone badly, which is the first time we have pizza intolerance. Will not visit the restaurant again, despite its cult status. We prefer to go to Due Forni on Prenzlauer Allee with the tastiest pizza in the city 💯 Otherwise the staff is just perfect 👌🏻

Delicious pizza, super friendly staff

We had dinner in this place 3 times. Very friendly, on warm days always busy as it is next to the Admiral Brücke. A lot of pizza, some pasta and some salad. No desserts. Inside dining was only possible with reservation when we were there. Outside dining means queuing for a place at a table. Sitting is mixed with other guests.

The pizzas looked delicious, that's true. But I opted for a salad with buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes for €14.50 and a portion of tuna for €4.50. Big mistake. A plate came with 10 slices of tomatoes and the same number of slices of mozzarella, without iceberg lettuce or anything like that. The tuna came in a separate bowl. I was very disappointed considering the price. ☹️ The beer and tiramisu were good. But it shouldn't be that hard to offer a delicious big creative salad.

It was just excellent all around! The starter plate was a delight, as was the pizza. Not cheap, but absolutely consistent with the quality. I give it a top recommendation!

Ham in strips on the capricciosa. Very loud interior. Legal and unfriendly conditions. The expensive pasta with mussels and squid had no sauce and little taste.

Classic food, can be a bit loud at times and depending on luck for getting friendly service (we had a nice waitress). They don’t take reservations.

Was there recently with family and friends. Food is good and comes quickly. I found the staff and especially the waitress to be really friendly. The only drawback is that it is unfortunately quite cold inside in winter.

Quaint atmosphere. Prices completely reasonable. We were there this Saturday. The restaurant was busy and it was correspondingly loud. If you prefer discreet peace and quiet, you should take this into account. The staff is friendly and quick. Since the tables are close together, ♿️ will have a hard time. Things may be different outside in summer.

Rather cold welcome, rather raw pizza (the dough). Mixed Italian appetizer without cold cuts or cheeses... made up of ingredients from the bowls to garnish the pizzas. Good beer. In short, the best thing was German. It's not the first time, but this time it's right to review.

15 years ago, Casolare was introduced to me as a “mob Italian”. For 15 years I didn't care and found it rather amusing. However, in recent years the quality has declined significantly and one of my favorite dishes, the ragout plate, has also been canceled. Today, however, a line of unkindness and impertinence has been crossed. I ordered a pizza to take away. After 20 minutes I went in as I saw a takeaway pizza was ready. Once inside, however, I was immediately sent out again and told in a very unfriendly manner that the employee would bring them out. After 50 minutes of waiting, I went back in and asked how long it would take. The same gentleman who previously said he was putting it out told me it was ready and started yelling and insulting me that he wasn't putting it out. I simply replied that he didn't have to yell at me and that he had told me 30 minutes beforehand to wait outside. He then threw wild insults at him, causing the whole store to turn around. When I finally received the pizza, it was cold and had the wrong toppings. That was my last pizza at Casolare or Due Forni. In the future, I would rather order a pizza through a delivery service than pick it up in person a few meters away.

Authentic Italian food, personnel and atmosphere inside the heart of Berlin. Pasta, pizza, wine and dessert TOP! Definitely going again.

We were there as part of a birthday party. The food and service were great. However, we only had a 2 hour time slot and it was pretty crowded and loud.

The food was very tasty, we had a Pizza Diavola and a Pizza Buffalina. Pizza around €15 (usually under €15) is extremely fair in terms of quality. Tiramisu and profiterole were also very tasty. The service was quick and attentive. We would be happy to come back when we are in the area again.

I've been coming here for years, but the prices and quality of the pasta dishes leave a lot to be desired. 18€ spaghetti with scampi. 3 whole cooked and cut scampi, pasta tasteless. Visit on Friday where it was always very busy and fish day was on the separate menu. No trace of it anymore.

Super yum, large pizzas!! Drinks are a bit pricey but other than that.... highly recommend. Also the dessert plate to share!! 😋👌

In fast-paced Berlin I really had a lot of opportunities to eat pizza. Every now and then there is really good pizza somewhere. But here I always feel like I get the tastiest pizza in town. And it remains simply the best. And since I obviously have a tit, it's also the best pizza in the world, I didn't find it any better in Italy. The service is idiosyncratic and typical of Berlin, some may not find it polite enough, Berliners smile calmly and feel at home. My personal recommendation: the “German potato” or Patatona. The focus is not on ambience or service, but on good food. Also try the delicious oils!!

Horrible service. One hour to get served 4 pizzas when other tables that arrived later got pizzas before. Also, to pay with card he grabs the card from your hand to put it in the machine, very rude and unprofessional. And suspicious.

This is the place I always go to with friends for an authentic Italian pizza in Kreuzberg. I miss the old grimy yellow wall paint and graffiti, but the food has not changed much since I first came here in 2016. I almost always want the Incredible or Diavola. Pasta is highly underrated — you have to look for the daily menu on the wall. Reliable, sweet Italian staff, some handsome cooks in the kitchen, and a wonderful spot for groups. Make a reservation if you’re more than 4! Fabulous restaurant.

Real Italian restaurant, like in Italy (I lived there for a long time). Service great, food incomparable, price reasonable. Ecke is not the best in Berlin, but still extremely authentic!

Pizza dough was very good. It is obvious that well-rested, fresh flour and good yeast were used. I bought Nen Salami, but there were only 6 thin pieces of salami in it, it was too little for me, the cheese is of good quality. Thanks. The atmosphere is nice but the tables are very close and the pizzas are too small for 4 people. 4 pizzas were too much at the middle table. Half of the plates overflowed from the table😂. The staff are legendary, skillful and friendly, we can go again.

Disastrous service, waited forever until a waiter came. Order placed 30 minutes later they have already ordered - yes oh sorry they forgot. Wine press utopian high The outta wasn't eaten and asked if you could pack it up, of course. When asked for the bill, the pizza was forgotten again and they only came back to us 20 minutes later to pay. Straight six No compensation, sorry, nothing

Nice atmosphere and delicious pizza like from Italy. With the multi-cultural clientee it fits Berlin perfectly. I would come back for this pizza again and again.

I haven't been here for a long time and actually had concerns. I expected that here, as in many places in Berlin, prices would have risen and quality would decline. I was very surprised to find that there hasn't been a big change at Il Casolare, and if there has been, it's only been positive. I have never experienced such nice and relaxed service staff as hour. However, the fact that I was relaxed could be because I was there shortly after it opened.

We had to wait 40 minutes for our pizza and it wasn't worth €14. The Casolare used to be quite good. Now it's just mass produced and there's hardly any tomato sauce left on it and almost no cheese at all. The waitress wasn't interested. Sad development.

Of course you have to make compromises in terms of service and ambience. But the food is Italian like in a trattoria in Naples. The customers are typical Kreuzberg. Anyone who likes it is in good hands here.

Were here once and won't go there again. But the pizza was tasty (not outstanding, but very good). But staff sucks. Instead of the announced waiting time of 20 minutes, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our pizzas. Staff was unfriendly and while we waited we were allowed to stand in the cigarette smoke from the staff.

You order take away, the arrogant guy tells you: ‚come pick up in 15min‘. It‘s been 45 minutes now and I am still waiting. No apologies, no update, no sorry no nothing…

It used to be very good, but unfortunately it has absolutely deteriorated - the food is mediocre and the service is unfriendly.

Why is Il Casolare a cash-only establishment? A place this popular that won’t set up a card payment option raises a big red flag regarding taxes. I urge people to stay away until this is rectified.

My best advice on sunny days is getting the pizze to take away and eating them by the canal, do not bypass their tiramisu (which is excellent.) I'm not the biggest fan of the restaurant’s interior but I do appreciate the servers' kind demeanour!
