Customer service is a disaster. Returning an item worth €20 took over an hour, which was completely unreasonable and unfriendly to customers.

A disaster. I'll never buy anything from IKEA again. Pay is definitely required when dealing with complaints. Customer service staff are very, very slow. 1 star – Poor service, wasted time – never again at IKEA Ludwigsburg. On September 5, 2025, I purchased a complete bed at the aforementioned store for €769. The bed was transported home and was to be assembled the next morning. During assembly, however, it turned out that a supporting bedside beam had been incorrectly prefabricated, making proper assembly of the entire bed impossible. This is clearly a material defect within the meaning of Section 434 of the German Civil Code (BGB). I immediately visited the store that same day to find a quick solution, as the bed was urgently needed for guests. However, despite having a waiting number, I had to wait for over an hour without my complaint being recorded. Several employees were on private business, and only three of the six counters were staffed. Finally, I was treated extremely rudely by an employee named Katrin at counter number 4. The following points are particularly problematic: - I was offered neither an immediate replacement of the defective part nor a quick complete replacement of the bed. - Instead, I was told that a possible solution could be communicated in two weeks at the earliest. - When I suggested making the adjustments myself, I was threatened that doing so would void all warranty claims – even for untouched original parts. - A price reduction or any other accommodating solution was also categorically rejected. - Initially, only the return of the bed frame without any other parts within three days was offered, and only if I transported it back myself. After tough negotiations, Katrin's supervisor, Mr. Özkül, very rudely agreed to take back the entire bed with a refund within three days, which was completely unsuitable for my current situation. This treatment not only constitutes inadequate performance of the contract but also violates fundamental consumer rights. According to Section 439 of the German Civil Code (BGB), I am entitled to subsequent performance (replacement delivery or repair) within a reasonable period of time. Given the urgency, an immediate or at least short-term replacement delivery would have been appropriate. Furthermore, I consider the threat of complete loss of any warranty for self-adjustment to be an impermissible restriction of my statutory rights.

Please finally open more blue checkouts. I'd like to be served by friendly employees at least at the checkout. I also prefer paying in cash! Customers are happier then, and they'll happily invest the saved waiting time in a meal after the checkout. That didn't happen for me today.

After almost 8 years, I extensively renovated the nursery. In doing so, I: - needed replacement parts for products that were no longer in the range => they were delivered without any hassle and free of charge - had to return products for which I had obviously packed the wrong boxes => apart from the employees' concerns that what I had assembled from two different boxes might not work, I was refunded without any hassle. - overestimated the size of my car and had to leave parts of my purchase with customer service for a second trip. The customer service deserves the highest praise - thank you very much

This IKEA really already has everything you'd expect from an IKEA. A large store, lots of people, and tons of decorative items. Personally, I'd like to see this market switch to more sustainable materials and fairer prices, so that fair wages can be paid in manufacturing, but that would probably appeal to IKEA's clientele, who primarily want to shop affordably.

Ikea itself is okay. Unfortunately, the staff is unfriendly: customers are lectured and patronized (including no child-friendly treatment of small guests), and in the warehouse, we were almost run over by an "ant." No apology, no consideration for the customer. In general, the staff seems unmotivated and stressed. The restaurant has discontinued fries. There's only mashed potatoes. No choice. Is this part of the climate protection initiative (see https://www.hogapage.de/nachrichten/wirtschaft/gastronomie/wirbel-um-twitter-post-zu-pommes-frites-im-ikea-restaurant/#:~:text=Einzelentscheidung%20des%20Standortes,Bremerhaven%20keine%20Pommes%20frites%20an.)? The large IKEA store has been in the area for many years, but unfortunately, there are only a few other branches in the area. The product range truly offers everything you need for a beautiful home. It's often quite busy on Saturdays, but the employees are always friendly and helpful. The Malm furniture, in particular, seems sturdy and high-quality after assembly. One area for improvement would be the checkout situation: On busy Saturdays, there are often only two regular checkouts open. Especially in a furniture store, you shouldn't rely exclusively on self-checkouts – more open checkouts would be very welcome. Nevertheless, I always enjoy coming back!

I ordered crockery for pickup using Clic and Collect. Unfortunately, I received everything without outer packaging. It was quite an art to get the plaster off the Ikea pickup line without breaking it. When I asked, they could only give me two small boxes. They didn't have any more. That really annoyed me. How is the customer supposed to get it home without damage? At breakfast in the restaurant, the plates were completely discolored and worn out... Tell me, Ikea: can't you find affordable, decent plates in your own store? The plates are simply completely worn out.

A mixed visit to IKEA: Service in the "store" was excellent. We searched for a chair together at the information desk, organized and loaded the cart...then we went to the checkouts. No "normal" checkouts open, just two self-scan areas. Not a problem if the staff were having a good day. I was spoken to rudely several times and would have preferred to leave my shopping behind. TERRIBLE SERVICE at the expense of the customer at the checkouts. ADDITIONAL 08/2025: Again: Only four checkouts open, annoying queues at the self-checkouts, flippant comments, no app? Didn't scan in advance? ...always been like this with us! Why does this self-checkout system work in all stores, except IKEA?

After receiving no response from IKEA, here's the story: This is the story of Markus S., self-appointed detective at IKEA. The scene takes place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 5:00 PM at IKEA Ludwigsburg. Markus S. enters the scene, in this case, the self-service checkout. He's a small man, rather inconspicuous, not exactly friendly but not unfriendly either, and he looks a touch arrogant. Markus S., but he seems very self-confident. At the aforementioned checkout, my son and his girlfriend want to scan their purchases, hoping to finish faster. So they scan their two carts full of different items (60 in total), which means 60 scans! All this under the watchful eye of Markus S., who stands with his legs wide apart. After all 60 items have been scanned and paid for, Markus S. makes his grand entrance! He now had to randomly scan a few items to verify the accuracy of the previously laborious scanning (approx. 15 minutes!). No sooner said than done. But since Markus S. hadn't found anything "suspicious" and probably had to show results, he decided at short notice to scan all 60 items. So another 15 minutes passed, and Markus S. finally had a success. His previously arrogant approach and the discovery of irregularities brought a small, satisfied smile to his still unprepossessing face! He actually found 3 items that weren't scanned...or so he thought! He then smugly told my wife: If something is "forgotten" with every customer, then something adds up at the end of the day! I watched my son and his girlfriend scan and knew for sure that nothing was "forgotten." So, after the little agent celebrated his triumph and recalculated the "missing" items, we checked the receipt again. Minutes didn't matter anymore. We quickly noticed that Markus.S., in his zeal, had "scanned" three towels. When we asked him about it, agent Markus S. acknowledged this with a tight lip and canceled the three towels. If you think he apologized profusely, you're wrong. It was just a barely audible "sorry." What's the moral of the story? Dear IKEA, perhaps before hiring a Markus.S., you should check whether he's capable of the tasks assigned to him? Were we even customers the way Markus S. treated us? And you, Markus.S., a little more humility, customer friendliness, and enthusiasm in the right place ;-) We won't be setting foot in an IKEA store again! Our free time is too precious for that! We did a special Shop&Go, but then discovered that no checkout was open. We had to wait forever at the self-scanning checkouts. We also had a coupon from our last purchase. However, it couldn't be redeemed with the points. (There was nothing about this on the coupon.) The notification about this only came after the checkout process, and since you can only redeem the points voucher once, we lost €30. The employee said there was nothing we could do about it. We bought boxes, but the lids were sold out. The system then reported this, and so our entire purchase was checked again by an employee. So it dragged on like chewing gum, and there was no Shop&Go... The Pax series has supposedly been optimized. During assembly, we discovered that it's slightly easier to assemble because no tools are required. Well, at least for the body; I still need a cordless screwdriver for the doors. And what's definitely a negative is the stability. You can actually only place the wardrobe against a wall now. And even then, the cabinet is in danger of tipping forward.

Restaurant: Finally go back to the food we used to eat. Pork, duck, venison goulash, fries, etc. Today we ordered salmon with mashed potatoes and beans at the counter, but instead of the dill sauce, which none of us likes, we ordered cream or tomato sauce. The main thing was not the dill sauce, which none of us likes, and I'm even allergic to dill. The young employee behind the counter then said he wasn't allowed to substitute the sauce. Are you still doing this???? That's so terrible for allergy sufferers, so we ordered it without the sauce. Do human lives matter anymore, do allergy sufferers not care? Terrible service! We were here to buy a desk and an office chair. Supposedly everything was in stock. They came with two trucks to make sure everything fit. In the warehouse, it turned out that the tabletop was theoretically there, but it was higher up on the shelf, and they couldn't lift the pallet down. The tabletop is being delivered now, but it will take a week, and the Back2School discount doesn't apply here either. The cashier referred me to customer service. After waiting an hour, I finally got through, and they referred me back to the cashier. And later, they said the tabletop was ordered from the department store... Nobody cares that it was supposed to be there. Conclusion: Nobody is to blame, and the customer just has to pay more and wait longer. I'll be staying well away from this place from now on! This has nothing to do with customer service and shows that no one here cares about the customer's needs.

The food in the restaurant changes constantly. Why aren't there fries anymore?????? They haven't been for months. Not everyone eats the meatballs!!! The vegetarian version is definitely not an option. Do hot dogs only come with mixed meat??? In the past, you could lure the kids into Ikea with ice cream and fries, and I could shop in peace. Now there are no more fries, and the kids don't want to come anymore, meaning I can't come as often as I'd like as a single mom. I don't want to hear the comment "fries aren't healthy," blah blah, meat isn't healthy either, and certainly not all that sweet stuff. Kids just don't eat everything. It's a shame. I even mentioned it to a restaurant in Ludwigsburg, and nobody cared. It's a shame!

You should stay away from this furniture store and IKEA's customer service as much as possible. You can read about my experience in the following review. I hope I've spared you the hassle of having to go through it yourself. My case involved a warranty claim covered by the IKEA warranty. I contacted customer service by phone, where the (un)friendly employee explained to me that it was none of their business because I had purchased the item in-store. They were only responsible for items purchased online. (Laughs) So I went to the store to complain about the item. The completely overworked and unfriendly employees asked me if I had the assembled bed with me. I denied it. I was then referred back to the telephone hotline, which was only responsible for items purchased online. I purchased the item in-store. ;) From here, the true odyssey began. After a 45-minute wait, one of the hotline employees finally answered. I arranged a replacement appointment over the phone. It was possible after all. ;) When I got there, the "nice" men, much to my chagrin and very late, revealed that the item had already been assembled. I explained that I had arranged for the replacement bed to be assembled and the faulty bed to be disassembled over the phone. The men from the shipping company called IKEA again, but because they didn't speak German well, they asked me to explain the problem. Much to their delight, they let me do the men's work. Because I was relying on the promised services, I refused. Especially since, in such a rush, disassembling the bed myself would have been impossible. Now I'm still waiting and struggling through the hotline. I can already sing along to the hold music. ;) Best regards Please share your experiences here, too.

Actually, every visit on a Saturday afternoon is a sadistic self-experiment. Click & Collect is a great idea in principle. Unfortunately, IKEA can only manage it theoretically. Ordering works, supposedly everything is in stock. Booking a time slot works. According to the internet, all parts are available. No sign of life for four days. Because one handle was no longer available, the entire €2,000 order was not processed, and only after extensive research were we summoned to Ludwigsburg to pick up everything except the handles. Unfortunately, a base was also missing, and we had to wait two hours!!!!!!! Despite Click & Collect. Now the handle is being delivered by a freight company because it's 180 cm long, and the base is being delivered by DHL. Free of charge 😂 The company has truly lost control.

I'll keep it short: the installation date was in February, now it's August, and things I complained about simply aren't being repaired. No one's been in touch. Absolutely outrageous. 1 star – Poor service, wasted time – IKEA Ludwigsburg urgently needs to improve its customer focus To the management of IKEA Ludwigsburg, Today I was impressively shown how, as a customer, you can waste an hour of your time – for four simple screws for a bed that's currently in stock. What happened? I reported it via the spare parts terminal as scheduled, hoping to solve the problem on the spot. After waiting for over an hour at the customer service counter – an area that already seems completely overloaded – I was told: "No, we don't have the screws here, you have to order them online using this QR code." As a "positive" suggestion, I was then told that shipping was free – it was almost sold as if it were a gift. Honestly: If you can't help the customer, fobbling them off with "free shipping" is not only unprofessional, but also disrespectful. Why wasn't I told from the beginning that the screws were out of stock? Why are we sent through a system that prevents precisely this flow of information? Why do people have to wait for over an hour, only to be sent home with a QR code and a shrug? Customer service looks different. What I experienced was a poor system that wasted time and created frustration. No thought, no real solution – and a "sorry" didn't bring back the lost hour. I appeal to management: Please take a look at what's going on at the counter. Redesign this area, allocate more staff, or develop a transparent system that doesn't keep customers waiting needlessly. This is how a short visit turns into an entire afternoon of frustration.

Positive: The staff at the Shop & Go checkouts are usually very friendly. Free charging for electric cars. Negative: It seems like you never get what you need; it's always sold out or not even in stock at this Ikea. Then, items that have been available for months at other Ikea stores are still being sold here at their original price, and the prices from the bargain bin are simply ridiculously high compared to other Ikea stores. Many items are €1-2 cheaper than the normal price, which isn't worth it for already assembled and possibly damaged items with no warranty, etc. Now, what I find most disturbing: after I asked Ikea for help because my car was damaged and I requested evidence for filing a complaint, I haven't received a response from the store itself for about a month. It shouldn't be too difficult to give a quick answer about whether there are surveillance cameras in this area, etc. The damage involved amounts to several hundred euros, which is something not everyone can simply afford. And then, I find it pretty cheeky that such a "family-friendly" and "cool" furniture store doesn't even answer such a question. Especially since customer service wants to resolve the matter themselves and the furniture store has already asked several times to answer the questions.

Never again!! Don't buy a kitchen there. My kitchen was delivered and "installed" 5 weeks ago. The result? Damage to my apartment, parts installed incorrectly and not according to plan, missing parts, and damaged parts. The installation company, with whom communication was almost impossible, assured me that the missing items would be recorded and ordered so that the work could be completed promptly. Safety-relevant parts were also left open and incorrectly connected. For 5 weeks now!! I haven't been able to reach anyone at this junk shop, whether by email or hotline. I can't move in, and the kitchen is sitting there half-finished. I've never experienced such incompetent service in my life. I've already set two deadlines, and they haven't responded. The food in the restaurant is delicious, they serve coffee until you drop for €2, and you can get something nice for the kids for a small price. The advice and planning are very good, and public transport is easy to reach. The bus stop is right in front of the house.

Hello Ikea, thank you for offering vegan options. At least one 😅 but... that you're out of fries, when half the world comes to you (including children!) to eat them, is really very bad. We were there frequently during 50% off Fridays, and like many, many, many others in line, we were like, "Please pass me some mashed potatoes now." We'd all like the fries back. Otherwise, the staff is friendly, which is worth one star. It's clean, and the fact that you get free tea or coffee is also worth a star. The kids should try the warm oat milk. It tastes very good. Please offer more healthy vegan options, but not those based on wheat gluten. Thank you very much. Unfortunately, you can hardly find any help or advice inside the store. Hence 3 stars.

Over four months ago, we ordered a kitchen from IKEA Ludwigsburg – we paid for both the kitchen and the assembly. To this day, it's still unfinished, not fully functional, and barely usable. Half of the kitchen was assembled, but due to an incorrectly sized countertop, the other half has been sitting in the hallway in its original packaging for two months. Despite the poor review of the assembly company, we have to commend the team: They were very friendly and even discovered additional errors that we wouldn't have noticed ourselves. Although all the parts are now in place, apparently no one feels responsible. We keep getting the message that "someone will get in touch" – but nothing happens. We followed up several times, showed patience, and hoped that something would finally happen. But customer service is difficult to reach, not solution-oriented, and completely lets us down. Our conclusion: Poor service, no reliability, no responsibility. A real shame – we expected more, especially because the kitchen itself is really great.

I've rarely experienced such abysmal customer service as I did today at IKEA Ludwigsburg next to Breuningerland. Despite my polite demeanor, I was completely ignored and treated like air. Not a single employee seemed even remotely interested in helping. Questions were brushed off or not answered at all – as if customers were considered a burden. Particularly unbelievable: An employee I politely asked if she could briefly show me where a certain item was, simply stayed seated and preferred to continue sipping her drink instead of helping me. Seriously?! That's not just disrespectful, it's anti-customer! The same tone at the checkout: listless, annoyed, absolutely no trace of friendliness. It can be stressful at times, but when EVERYONE is like that, something is fundamentally wrong. I was a fan of IKEA for a long time, but after this experience, I'll think twice about ever setting foot in that store again. This kind of treatment of customers is unacceptable.

Since we live near IKEA Ludwigsburg, we often go there for breakfast. Afterwards, we stroll through the store, get some inspiration, and pick up a few small items. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly difficult to pay for the items and take them home. The reason: there are fewer and fewer checkouts where you can pay. ⭐ Disappointing service – long wait time despite a simple request ⭐ I never expected such a simple service issue at IKEA Ludwigsburg to turn into such a time-consuming and frustrating experience. Despite an obvious error on IKEA's part, I had to wait for over four hours at the service counter – without any sign of urgency, without any apology, and without any apparent appreciation for the waiting customers' time. Instead of dealing with the long queue, some employees continued to have private conversations undisturbed, which further increased the confusion among those waiting. In total, this process cost me about six hours – pure life time that no one will give back. Of course, waiting times in the service area are nothing unusual – but on this scale, and especially when the error lies with the company, it is simply unacceptable. Fast, solution-oriented service would have been the bare minimum here. It is with a heavy heart that I award one star because zero stars are unfortunately not possible. After this experience, it is more than questionable whether I will shop at IKEA again in the future.

We ordered a Kallax cabinet with delivery and assembly. Regarding delivery: The shipping company only delivered the goods to our front door. If I paid €50, the gentleman would carry the package into my apartment, which I, of course, declined. The support team promised me compensation over the phone, which I still haven't received. Regarding assembly: I requested the service, but no one ever contacted me. Decide for yourself what to do with this review.

We couldn't be happier with our IKEA kitchen. From planning to delivery and installation, everything went smoothly. We received excellent advice during the planning phase. After the planning was completed, the old kitchen was dismantled six weeks later. The materials for the new kitchen were delivered one day later and installed in the following three days. Special praise goes to the installer, who did a fantastic job despite the structural challenges of our old house.

After buying furniture, we wanted to have some cake there at 4 p.m. Unfortunately, they were out because it was apparently so busy that day. At that time of day, the restaurant was at most one-third full. We then decided on an ice cream that was advertised on the display. It was vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries. I also ordered a drink, which was also out, and then I ordered a hot chocolate. After a while, the server came to the table and said they were out of cocoa, and therefore there would be no hot chocolate either. How ridiculous is that? After about 40 minutes of waiting, the ice cream we ordered finally arrived, and it came with chocolate ice cream, not the vanilla ice cream we ordered and advertised. The server should have informed the guest about this beforehand, because if I order vanilla ice cream, I don't want chocolate ice cream. The portion was also more than small, the ice cream was already very melted, and then to top it off, the wait was long. Vanilla ice cream and chocolate powder are mass-produced items that should always be in stock. The purchasing officer should be retrained on material procurement. This was truly a total disappointment. There will definitely not be a return visit to this "restaurant"; we'd rather go to Hofmeister if we want something to eat.
