Hummus & Friends in Berlin

The only good thing in the restaurant is only the hummus, the salad is too sweet, the falafel is not exactly falafel, it's a hard hummus patty, tasteless unfortunately

I never saw a place so dirty. I would try that an Agent from Health and Safety comes to this restaurant in Berlin. The insects were over the food when I saw the kitchen for a moment on my way to the bathroom. I talked to one waiter he told me that they have mosquitoes and flies in the kitchen! The management it's in this restaurant just to make money. There were rats in the backyard under the table where I was eating. Really, the worst place I saw in my life. I could continue, the place it's full of anomalies. Remember, Oranienburger Strasse, 27 Hummus and Friends it's a "don't go" place. Please save yourself from a bad experience!

There were 6 of us here for lunch and almost all of us were disappointed with the food. The trio of potatoes and beetroot was in the oven for too long and the beets burned. The lentil soup was rather bland. The two types of hummus (normal and tomato) were creamy but the taste was too bitter for all of us, as if the focus had been on the tahini and not on the chickpeas. Homemade is advertised, but the falafel is frozen? The service was nice.

Were there for lunch. Not surprisingly (given the name), hummus is really tasty, the pita comes to the table warm and fluffy. Very good. The eggplant is “okay”, but very hard on the outside and the way it is served takes some getting used to. The cauliflower was okay, it could have been seasoned a little bolder. All in all good, hummus in particular is great.

Way overpriced for basic hummus and pita. Removed some of the vegan options from their menu, but still vegan friendly. Was very fresh and nice, but too expensive. They try to charge you for tap water tho!

If you love hummus, this is the right place! Great restaurant with a clear menu that I like to come back to whenever I'm in Berlin. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is friendly and on the ball and the food is really tasty. You can also share the dishes so you can try more!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. Thoroughly recommended if you like hummus! Everything on the menu includes hummus - I had the "special" with lentils, onions, gherkins, and pitta, with an Erdinger beer and paid €26. I can't yet promise the advertising lives up to it's interesting proposition, but heck, worth it for the food. Fabulous setting, service, and atmosphere. Edit: went back here a couple more times and had falafel. Very good and staff very attentive. It's great 👍

Super tasty! Staff very friendly, but a star deduction because you couldn't pay by card. Otherwise great!

The food is excellent, as is the presentation of the dishes. The menu is very rich, the part relating to wines and other drinks is missing in the photo. Good value for money. I recommend the chocolate cake with a warm heart that you see in the photo. The place is very nice, if I really have to try to find a weak point it's the paper napkins because to clean your lips after so much goodness they would be better than the more refined napkins. Highly recommended.

I'm sorry to say that the service was very disappointing. The employees seemed inattentive and my drink was even completely forgotten. There was neither a “thank you” nor a “please,” which made the experience even more unpleasant. Unfortunately, the food itself was just average and couldn't save the overall impression. For these reasons, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

Food and ambience are wonderful! Unfortunately, two dishes that we actually wanted to order were missing and the wine we had chosen was no longer available either. Still, I would recommend it.

Very disappointing and expensive. I expected a lot from this restaurant, after all it's called Hummus and Friends. The hummus doesn't taste like anything, even with sun-ripened tomatoes. When we entered the restaurant at around 6:30 p.m., the lady behind the counter was standing with street shoes on the counter where food was being prepared and was cleaning the shelves. The cauliflower was still half raw and still rock hard even after sending it back and cooking it again. The chili salad had no jalapenos or chili sauce and the mango in it was also rock hard. The waitress wasn't interested in your work either and showed it. And what's more, a bit of hummus costs just under 15 euros and we paid just under 65 euros for 3 people including drinks. Never again and no thanks.

Had a very nice evening. Good company, good food, good atmosphere, what more could you want. The two of us shared a pumpkin hummus (approx. 15€) and the eggplant (approx. 9€), plus 2 extra breads (approx. 4€). We were both full. However, the pumpkin hummus does not taste like pumpkin, there are only a few pumpkin and tomato pieces on the hummus. Service: Unfortunately we were presented with the wrong bill and the plate wasn't completely clean (so pay attention to that).

We had a reservation for 6 people. After we got the drinks and wanted to order the food, it turned out that almost all the hot dishes were sold out (e.g. potatoes, cauliflower, soups - all gone at 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays). It can happen, but then you have to communicate it directly when handing out the menu cards. There was no apology, just a "we don't have that anymore" response to each of our orders. Unfortunately we had to leave the otherwise nice restaurant and look for something else. I am very disappointed.

At first I was afraid to come because I saw a lot of negative reviews. But I said let's try. Really great place. There is a kosher certificate at the entrance. I didn't have time to take a picture of the food before because it was so beautiful and delicious so I took a picture at the end of the meal and as you can see I finished everything. Fresh fluffy pita bread comes with every hummus plate. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing different styles. Nice outdoor seating in summer. The bohemian atmosphere adds to the experience. Try the roasted eggplant with tahini.

My favorite hummus shop in Berlin. The avocado hummus is sooo delicious. I can only recommend it. One plate really fills you up. The service is friendly. Unfortunately you have to wait a long time until you are served. Sometimes you have to get the menu card yourself or go to the front to pay.

We were almost ripped off by the waiter. He charged us an amount far beyond what the meal might have cost. When we asked for the receipt, 2 out of 4 items were wrong, at least one of them was more expensive than the one we ordered. He said he accidentally gave us the bill from another table. After our complaint, we left the restaurant with €12 more than when we actually paid and we were still not sure whether everything had been billed correctly. Everything is very murky. “Cash only” speaks for itself! Regarding the answer from the restaurant: I would be very surprised if my employees collected money that (just now) has not been paid for, so no invoice can be issued for it. Where did this money go?

Positive: The different hummus variations were well prepared, well presented and tasty. Negative: The service “experience”, here are the things that bothered us: -if you order a 0.5l draft beer (6.50EUR) you also expect 0.5l. If a 0.4l glass (with a calibration mark) is served, you are at least surprised... we insisted at the counter and received a correct glass of 0.5l. The contents of the 0.4l jar were tipped away -Two oven-fresh pita breads are served with the hummus variations, which are very tasty for dipping in the sauces. Initially only 4 out of 6 pita breads were served, with the explanation that the others were still in the oven...so far, so good...but: after what felt like 20 minutes of eating and lively conversation, the first 4 pita breads were used up...ask the staff : the breads are still in the oven???? After another 10 minutes we protested more vigorously, whereupon we were given 3 cold pita breads from the storage box... which we immediately sent back... 5 minutes later warm pita breads came back - According to the menu, one of the 4 dishes included bread sticks... the bread sticks were not there when it was served... when we asked, we were told that the bread sticks were no longer made and that pita bread was also available for them - we would have expected that we will be informed of the change to the offer when placing the order. -When we checked out, we were initially only given the total amount; we only received a verifiable invoice with the individual items when we asked directly Conclusion: Each event described is a small matter in itself and would have been taken care of for us with a short apology from the staff....the accumulation and the staff's lack of insight, which we felt, bothered us...it's a shame, because the food itself was really good

They took a popular dish, made it overpriced, and completely butchered it! The texture is similar to Palestinian hummus, but the flavors just aren’t there. You’ll pay 10-15 for a plate of smashed chickpeas and pita—no fries, no salad, no pickles. It’s better to go to Azzam, where at least it’s authentic, and the people making it know what they’re doing, instead of profiting off others’ culture without understanding. And adding a hard-boiled egg doesn’t make it gourmet—nonsense place!

Food is below average and very expensive. You could find better flafals in Rewe.

Wenn man von der Museumsinsel oder dem Spreeufer in die Oranienburger Straße zur Synagoge geht, kommt man direkt zum Lokal. Meine Tochter hatte noch nie in einem Lokal Hummus gegessen. Und durfte feststellen, dass das viel besser ist als was man im Supermarkt kaufen kann. Alles war bestens.

Update: they have some new flavors of hummus - incl. a Choco Hummus! And it's so deliciously good (even without a sweet tooth) - you have to try it!!! Amazing deliciously flavorful Hummus and Israeli Salad! Vegan an Koscher (even some of the wines) Best thing is to go with friends - order everything and share the plates =) Still valid in 2024 - not like many other places - they keep the deliciousness =)

Been there a few times. One of the best hummus in Berlin, but credit cards not accepted?! Come on only in Berlin in 2024 I still have to pay cash. I won't be back

The food was great. If one portion wasn't enough, I would have liked to try a second menu. The next time you visit Berlin, this restaurant will be at the top of the hit list. Very friendly and helpful service in a great atmosphere.

Very good, diverse and delicious selection of hummus (also many vegan). Friendly service that gives you really good advice, the drinks and food come quickly and are lovingly prepared. The restaurant is very comfortable to sit in, with a view of the Bodemuseum. You can also take a seat in the beautiful inner courtyard. I would like to recommend this small, fine restaurant with a tradition going back over 10 years.

Very cosy Israeli restaurant with a wide range of vegetarian dishes. Their Hummus menu is a incredible variety. Friendly staff with prompt services. All the customers enjoyed having lunch. Highly recommended to try out

Good option to get away from typical German food. It has fresh and healthy dishes. The different varieties of hummus are very good (quite filling). We ordered what was in the photo for 4, we were hungry and it was difficult for us to finish it.

The service was friendly, you sit by real candlelight and acoustic jazz covers of Top 40 songs are playing. Unfortunately our table was not cleaned of leftover food beforehand. Anyone who has ever been to Mugrabi, Golda Deluxe, Kitten Daily or similar should not come here. The eggs were older (rubbery surface), the baked potatoes were cold, the carrots in the salad were shriveled and the falafel was more authentic in consistency and taste at most kebab shops. Prices are similar to those of the other stores mentioned, but the performance is simply not there in comparison.

I was quite disappointed... the food was mediocre and very very expensive for what you get (a Hummus dish for 15,50?!). They only accepted cash when I was there, which is not mentioned anywhere on their website. The drinks are overpriced as well... I will probably not come back or recommend

Benzogi arrived after a flight from the USA and was waiting to eat hummus, after thinking and researching the market this is the restaurant chosen. Unfortunately, the experience is reasonable and when we politely hinted at dissatisfaction, they responded less. I recommend tasting the avocado hummus - interesting and strange. Relative to the size and nature of the dishes, expensive. The falafel was baked and did not contain herbs. Felt that the pita was warmed from the freezer.

It may be that there is great hummus there. But dessert didn't taste good. And you can sit outside on wobbly beer benches at wobbly tables.

Burnt cauliflower and almost raw eggplant, hummus drowned in tahini, extremely slow and completely unplanned service (we waited 30 minutes for drinks and an hour for food), dirty, greasy tables. The outside area is uncomfortable and bumpy. The concept of Israeli cuisine itself is great, the menu also reads well - but the implementation is catastrophically bad, as is the price-performance ratio.

They don't accept credit cards so be aware of that. Food was alright. They also charged us a lot more than what we ordered so make sure you check the bill.

They charged us wrongly (13€ more than what we ordered) and since they only accept cash (to avoid taxes, I suppose) and dont even give you a receipt we wouldn't be able to go back and get a refund. Food was ok (a little expensive, I've had far better and cheaper hummus) but the service was pretty bad.

I can highly recommend this place, especially if you are vegan. The service was super friendly, super relaxed, absolutely decelerating. We ordered the Trio Hummus for 2, which came with fresh bread. All 3 varieties tasted very good. I can also recommend the homemade lemonade. I will eat there again on my next visit to Berlin. Card payment is not possible. But don't let that stop you. This restaurant is an absolute MUST for all hummus fans!

I had an extremely disappointing experience here. We came here just to try their desserts and enjoy some tea. However, the service was shockingly rude from the moment we sat down. After ordering, we were made to feel unwelcome, and the staff seemed irritated that we only wanted dessert. Afterwards, we were actually told to leave just because we didn’t order a full meal! This level of unfriendliness is completely unacceptable. If you’re looking for a place to relax and enjoy, I’d recommend going somewhere else where they actually value their customers

We waited to sit, nobody was there for a long time and we decided to sit at the table. There were a couple of tables free. Waiting staff came and gave us menus, but we knew already what we wanted. We wanted to order lemon cake and tea, but the waiter who took order refused to serve, and he said : " This is not cafe" and all tables reserved. As I saw on some tables were reserved sign, and 5 of them were free. Didn't expect this kind of service

Very nice atmosphere, excellent food, which you can't get everywhere. The only drawback is the toilets. But you can overlook that.

I was there seven years ago with the family and now I'm back with some friends. A good place to eat Mediterranean and healthy cuisine, which is very much appreciated in Berlin. The hummus and cauliflower are truly spectacular. The service, friendly, but we had to wait long enough for the dishes. One negative note is that we were charged 50 cents for each glass of tap water. This surprised and upset us, considering that we spent more than 30 euros per person.

The quality of the hummus was good, but there aren't really that many choices of dishes other than that, and one we ordered was disappointing: a small basket with oven cooked potatoes and other root vegetables, which was overpriced and just... average. The staff was very nice, though.

We waited for a very long time, they simply forgot about us. the waitress was not friendly, she didn't even bring us a menu. There was a hair on the glass, for some reason they didn’t notice it and brought it to me. I asked to change the glass, but no one even apologized for it, as if this happens to them every day. The service is very bad. The food was just ordinary, nothing special. There was no paper in any of the women's restroom! 😂😵‍💫 And the cherry on the cake is that they forgot to count us, the waitress thought that she had already counted us out.

Second time I've been here, and again very tasty, wonderful hummus with dried tomatoes and fluffy pita presented by very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Un début prometteur : bonne cuisine méditerranéenne en terrasse dans un quartier vivant de Berlin. En revanche, la suite laisse à désirer : service très long, vin rouge chaud, dessert qui n'arrive jamais (pour dire au bout de 30 minutes d'attente qu'il n'y en a pas) et surtout serveurs pas du tout souriants.

Nice combination if you are in the Jewish quarter. Delicious food, friendly service and good quality for a great price.

The place specializes only on hummus so not a lot of choice besides that, but they do their job quite nicely. Decent food, chill waiters who don't judge as they almost always do in Germany. The interior has some cozy corners to sit comfortably. I'd say it's a bit overpriced for such simple dishes, but honestly it's not too bad, especially for the location.

Natürlich denkt man, direkt neben der prominenten Synagoge gibt es auch gutes israelisches Essen. Leider ist diese Vermutung falsch. Das Essen war geschmacklich erschreckend schlecht. Ungewürzt, flach, schwach. Die Portionsgröße ist dem Preis nicht angemessen. Kein Auge und Herz für die Kleinigkeiten. Das Besteck war teilweise dreckig, das Pitabrot kalt und alt. Der Service ist ebenso unmotiviert wie das Essen. Gesamterlebnis = absolut nicht empfehlenswert!

I very nice hummus variation restaurant next to the big Synagoge. The service is excellent and flexible on the orders. Food is really great. The cauliflower is ok. Nothing spectacular. Polish it up with a little paprika powder, and fig Sirup. That's what they do in Arabic countries. The falafel however taste really great!

Great place ! I have been going for more than 10 years and never disappoints! The hummus&friends special and the cauliflower are amazing !

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. I remembered coming once years ago and I had a good experience but today it was really bad. We sat down to order and had to wait a long time to be served. When our order arrived we clearly saw that the food was reheated and not fresh and in fact we had to ask for a plate of potatoes to be reheated because they were very cold. The food was tasteless and you could tell it was not homemade. Taking into account the price one would expect something very different. The service was extremely slow and unprofessional since, for example, one of the waiters with a tattoo on his neck was talking to some friends at the next table while sharing conversation, cigarettes and beer during working hours. Very dissatisfied and we cannot recommend it. It is worth highlighting a good detail from another waiter with long hair and a goatee who was pleased to give us a 10% discount for the inconvenience. We couldn't find out his name but he showed calm and good communication and understanding.

Service was slow, and the hummus didn't meet our expectations. The “aubergiene tapas” was particularly disappointing due to the bitterness of the aubergine. Overall, it was a big letdown.

Voll schlechte Service , 45 Minuten gewartet und man würde noch nicht mal gefragt nach der Bestellung obwohl wir das mehrmals danach gefragt haben . Unaufgeräumte Tisch und zu wenig Personal !!! Noch nie sowas erlebt, nie erlebt so eine schlechte Service!

Wir haben uns zu dritt Hummus Trilogie und zwei Hauptgerichte geteilt. Es wurden 3 Pitabrote hingestellt ohne Hinweis ob wir noch mehr haben können. Service war sehr unaufmerksam, wir mussten mehrmals auf uns aufmerksam machen. Essen war lecker, aber es gab mehrere Komponenten die sich wiederholt haben. Der gleiche Salat bei den Hauptgerichten machte mehr als die Hälfte des Tellers aus. Immer die gleichen Sossen.

Way to overpriced for what you get in quality and the portion In other restaurants you get some good grilled veggies with your hummus and not canned food The sandwich of my friend was disappointing in taste too Service was ok but the communication was a bit difficult All in all it felt like we found ourselves in a touristic place where they don't really care about quality

The start was quite bumpy as we had to wait quite a long time for our order. The strange thing about it... guests who ordered far after us received their food far before us. However, the food, our hummus plate, was absolutely delicious.

I ate the Humus & Friends special plate there. It was very tasty and rich. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Would eat there again at any time. Edit: I was in Berlin again after a long time and so I paid a visit to Humus & Friends. This time I had an Israeli salad. I found it very tasty again. The atmosphere was again very welcoming and warm. Very nice service. I just found it a shame that, due to the current situation, there is an increased police presence at all Israeli restaurants and in front of synagogues. That's why you always have an uneasy feeling. Still highly recommended.

The hummus was exceptional, creamy and rich. However, the falafel tasted like they had been taken out from the freezer and warmed up in a microwave. It was dry and lacked flavors and texture that make falafel such a beloved dish. The place must elevate their falafel to match the excellent standard set by their hummus. Our waiter was kind and eagerly listened to our feedback.

Der klassische Hummus war arg flüssig, aber geschmacklich ok. Das Foul schmeckte ungewürzt und schien auch schon länger in der Küche gestanden zu haben. Der Hummus mit Mango hatte einen komischen künstlichen Mangogeschmack. Mit Hummus hatte das nichts zu tun. Der halbe Blumenkohl war ok, aber kalt. Die Vorspeisenplatte war ungewürzt schmeckendes etwas ausgetrocknetes Gemüse. Gut war das warme Pita-Brot. Der Service war freundlich.
