Hotel Thüringenschanze in Oberhof

A very clean hotel, really nice and courteous staff, dog was allowed into the restaurant with meals, food was really good, hotel centrally located. We'll be back, we were thrilled

It was a very nice stay. The service is very friendly and the breakfast and dinner are really bomb👍. The rooms are cozy and clean, but unfortunately they don't have a balcony. The location is great because everything is within walking distance. The price - Performance ratio is really good, we will definitely come back!

First I have to complain about the gourmet buffet in the evening. The food is “way too delicious”! The chef exaggerates. What is that? 5 stars or 10 stars? I've been to at least 1000 hotels and restaurants and I also work in quality assurance, but I've never experienced anything like this. You can choose from the most delicious German dishes, perfectly prepared. One tastes better than the other. There is a huge selection of main courses, side dishes, vegetables in all variations and desserts. There is something for everyone. If cooking were an Olympic sport, the chef would be the winner. Everything else in the hotel is quite good. Rooms clean, service top, location very advantageous. What I particularly appreciate is that you have your privacy here. This is our third time at the Thüringerschanze and we will be back soon.

We were here with a larger motorcycle group. The breakfast buffet and especially the evening buffet far exceeded our expectations. Soup, fish, meat, vegetables, salads, pizza, flam cakes, ice cream counter, desserts, cheese, soft drinks etc. One complainer said, between us, Calemares are missing. The next night you were part of the selection and he fell silent. In short, every evening there is a wide selection from healthy to junk food, sweet to savory, fresh and good quality, everything is there. If you don't feel full and happy, it's your own fault. Children's prices for the buffet are also top-tier. The restaurant/beer garden is open until 10 p.m. After that, there are alternatives in the area. Rooms are spacious, tidy and clean. The view on the ground floor of my motorcycle in the parking lot suited me. Should be better for a room on the higher floors. The service was friendly and great.

I spent a few lovely days in your hotel with my mom and my children. Even though the rooms are a bit old, the friendly service and the delicious food every day were a great pleasure and deserve extra praise. As promised, we will definitely come back in winter and are really looking forward to a “different” Oberhof than in summer and the unbeatable food.

We stayed at this hotel for one night for mountain biking on the Rennsteig. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and were immediately shown where the room was to store the bikes. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the beds were comfortable and it was great Have a good night's sleep. We didn't take advantage of the hotel's wellness offerings, so I can't say anything about that. What I highly recommend, however, is the buffet for dinner in the restaurant. It's amazing what's on offer there. There's really something for everyone, Everything was fresh and tasty with regional products. We were very excited.

We were there on the motorbike for two nights. The room was super clean. We had the biker arrangements, that is, with half board and garage. The buffets for breakfast and dinner were great. You couldn't try everything, there was so much choice. Everything was super tasty. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. As well as a very warm welcome. We can recommend it to everyone. Keep it up!!!

Room ok, price for room ok. Dinner only as a buffet. Despite staying overnight we were charged in full for the buffet. (Expensive) The reason was that we should have stated it when booking. It doesn't say anywhere. RIP OFF.

Very nice employees. Very sustainable breakfast buffet until 11 a.m. Evening buffet was very rich and tasty. Overall, highly recommended, the only annoying thing was that the shower gel wasn't refilled. Otherwise we always have our personal one with us, even if we don't take it with us 😕 We will check in there again next year.

We stayed in this 3 star hotel as a couple from June 17th to June 20th, 2024. For the first time ever in Oberhof. The hotel is definitely recommended for 3 nights, but for a longer period of time we would prefer another higher quality hotel. The hotel is very centrally located and you are immediately in the center. The hotel has a beer garden, but unfortunately it wasn't open on a single day. Sitting outside for a cool drink when the weather is nice is not possible. We suspect that it is due to the lack of staff, which can be complained about everywhere in Oberhof. The free parking spaces behind the house were positive. We had half board, 32 euros per person, only alcoholic drinks had to be paid, soft drinks, tea and coffee were included in the price. There was something to eat for every taste. Sometimes it could have been better seasoned, unfortunately some of the food was a bit too cold when the buffet opened at 6 p.m. The breakfast was sufficient, we would have liked other sausages as always, bacon, bratwurst, liver sausage or black pudding. Of course cheese and scrambled eggs with ham and sausages were also available. Since there were several motorcycle groups on site, breakfast wasn't exactly quiet. The staff also had problems clearing the tables of empty plates because they weren't always there and sometimes had to serve the reception, so empty cups and plates piled up on the tables. As a guest, you think about your part and of course it doesn't look nice when you're still having breakfast. Unfortunately we would not visit this hotel a second time. But it's definitely great for a short visit achieved for us. Maybe it is possible to tackle such things better.

We go there for dinner once every year. The buffet is extremely good, a nice selection of dishes and very friendly service.

The room was simple but clean. The bathroom too. The breakfast good. But the biggest upset for us was the outrageous price for an overnight stay. Oberhof was probably fully booked on that day, but quadrupled prices are overkill.

Very nice staff. Room was ok, but 400 euros for 2 nights without breakfast is a rip-off for me. Too bad 😥

We spent a long weekend at the Hotel Thüringenschanze as part of the Rennsteig run and were absolutely thrilled: Rooms: spacious with plenty of storage space, tastefully furnished and absolutely clean. Food: Breakfast was included and left nothing to be desired - we also used the evening buffet twice, which was also absolutely tasty and offered enough choice (also for vegetarians). Location: Top - just a few minutes to the city center with cafes, restaurants and shops. A good 40 minutes to the Lotto Thüringen Arena (particularly relevant for Rennsteig runners or visitors to the Biathlon World Cup). Service: deserves 10 stars. All the employees were super warm and friendly, we felt totally at home from the first second. At this point many thanks to the team :) Conclusion: We will definitely choose this hotel again the next time we visit Oberhof.

Went to this hotel for a buffet dinner today. Price / offer: Very good. The food was super delicious 😋. There was something for everyone. The vegetables, e.g. Brussels sprouts, were perfectly prepared, the fish was very good, the desserts were delicious... It's a shame that you were so full so quickly. A successful evening at the end of today's hike... so I didn't feel guilty about having eaten so much. :) Thank you

We booked a weekend with half board and were thrilled. The room was comfortable, everything was very clean and well equipped. The location of the hotel is very central and we received many excursion tips from the staff. All employees were very friendly, helpful and courteous. The evening buffet was the best we have enjoyed so far. All the dishes were very fresh, varied, very varied and delicious. The breakfast buffet also left nothing to be desired. The Hotel Thüringenschanze stands for friendliness, cleanliness, service and an excellent, varied, very tasty breakfast and evening buffet. We were there in a group of 6 over the Easter holidays and each of us was completely satisfied with everything, that's how you imagine a short vacation. You don't have to go to a 5-star hotel. Many thanks again to the entire hotel team.

A great, small hotel with a family atmosphere. The breakfast and evening buffets are varied and have something for everyone. The location in town is central. You can start great excursions from here and get tips for breakfast with the lovingly designed daily information. The staff is very friendly. We felt good. Really highly recommended.

The hotel is quite decent for this price. Very good breakfast The rooms are clean but mediocrely equipped and I can already feel that they are old. The service was nice but poorly available. We arrived after 10 p.m. and there was no one to give us the keys (they were in a safe, we had a code). When we paid in the morning, there was no one at the reception, we had to take someone out of the kitchen. Although all this may be due to the fact that we were out of season. There are saunas but they didn't work. There is an exercise bike and an elliptical trainer, but they are very old and worn out. Obviously just for the photos.. Price very fair and very good breakfast. We were on a business trip, so these aspects were the most important. The rating here is ok But I wouldn't go on holiday that way.

Four of us stayed here for 2 nights. Top clean, nice staff and great owners. The breakfast and the evening buffet were amazing, very rich and this quality and large selection cannot be found in many 5-star hotels. It was constantly refilled and all soft drinks were included in unlimited quantities. The location is also perfect. Thank you for the wonderful time.

This weekend we stayed at the Hotel Thüringenschanze with two small dogs for 2 nights. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed, they took the time to explain everything and were also given brochures about Oberhof for food, hiking and leisure activities. Our room was beautifully furnished, everything was very clean and inviting, as was the bathroom with shower. The breakfast has something for everyone and if you still have any wishes, you can contact the service staff, who were all very friendly. The hotel is located in the middle of the city and you can easily reach everything on foot. We will recommend your hotel and we would be happy to come back to you on our next trip.

Old-fashioned hotel with large rooms and good breakfast. No elevator

We were very disappointed, for 3 nights 2 people, over €600. We imagined something better. Breakfast €19, evening buffet €32. Way too overpriced. Dining room far too loud and crowded. There's no trace of vacation and getting out of the stress of everyday life. First of all, we need a HOLIDAY. NEVER again, not recommended!!

Very nice cozy hotel! Rooms very clean. The food is great!!!! The buffet is well prepared and the selection can't be topped for us. The relaxation room and the saunas are also very nice. We would book here again.

We were at Christmas Day evening for the gourmet buffet. As always, the food and service were simply fabulous. We would love to come back and... can only recommend it to everyone.

We were surprised by the buffet. Many other hotels can learn something from this. The selection was very appealing, rich and tasty. The rooms are clean and well equipped, but could use some updating.

Were not guests and wanted to eat a buffet for 3 people in the evening for €32 per person. Disappointed, food was cold, not a big selection, unfortunately the taste was really disappointing. I hardly ate anything. Waitress on the cold food pointed out, still 32€. Not recommended for someone who appreciates comfort and good food!

Wir durften im Oktober hier Gäste sein und waren überaus zufrieden. Die Zimmer und das ganze Hotel sind sehr sauber. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Aber der absolute Hammer sind das sehr leckere Frühstücks- und Abendbuffet !

Gemütliches Hotel in der Nähe des Panoramahotels. Zimmer sind sauber, Betten sind bequem und das Frühstück ist auch völlig in Ordnung. Gerne wieder...

Wir waren zum Essen abends beim buffet. Die Auswahl war groß. Essen war hervorragend und wer da nix findet der hat keinen Hunger. Der Service mehr wie freundlich. Und das Ambiente sehr gemütlich. Können es nur weiter empfehlen. Eine kleine Anmerkung wäre, vielleicht die Teller zu wärmen damit das Essen länger warm bleibt, aber das ist schon jammern auf zu hohem Niveau. Kommen gerne wieder!

Zentral gelegenes Hotel, saubere Zimmer, nettes Personal, gutes Essen. Waren vollkommen zufrieden und können das Hotel weiterempfehlen.

Der Aufenthalt in ihrem Haus hat allen mitgereisten Gästen sehr gut gefallen !!! Wir möchten uns auf diesem Wege bei allen Mitarbeitern recht herzlich bedanken. Wir werden sie auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen und wünschen für die Zukunft alles erdenklich Gute!!!
