Sehr unfreundlich, wir waren gar nicht erst essen. Deutsche Küche . Hier wünscht man keine Reservierung was in Oberhof bei vielen Restaurants der Fall ist. Jede Frage war der Dame am Empfang zu viel.

Quaint little restaurant. It doesn't have much space, but the food is amazing and the prices are great.

Absolutely unacceptable!!! We were turned away so rudely because we had a small dog with us. They could have politely said they hated dogs. Apparently, they don't, but they don't need to anymore. Went around the corner: "Beim Waldschrat" (At the Forest Goblin)...we were given a very friendly welcome despite the dog, great service, good food...we were happy to spend our money here. Gaststätte Kauzeneck: If service and friendliness are important to you, this is the wrong place.

I have the impression that you are not welcome here as a guest.

Das Kauzeneck ist bzw. war unsere erste Adresse, wenn wir in Oberhof zu Besuch waren und Hunger hatten. Die Küche ist sehr gut und die Gerichte schmecken hervorragend. Seit ca. einem Jahr haben wir jedoch zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten (insgesamt 5 Mal) über das Jahr verteilt versucht, mal wieder im Kauzeneck zu essen - leider ohne Erfolg. Entweder war wegen Krankheit oder ohne Begründung geschlossen. Ist echt schade!

We actually didn't have any bad memories of the Kauzeneck in Oberhof. However, we didn't go inside, but just drank mulled wine beforehand. During our short break in Oberhof this year, we wanted to have a nice meal at the Kauzeneck. The offer, according to the exhibitor, sounded very promising. So, I thought, let's go by in the early evening and reserve a table. "We don't take reservations here," was the rather brusque reply. Oh well, that happens. So around 7:00 p.m., we went on a whim. We went into the corner and politely asked for a table. "We don't have a free table" was the response, just as harshly as when I asked 90 minutes earlier. Behind me was a table with a RESERVED sign! Hey, I thought! I politely asked what was happening with this table - "...I thought they didn't take reservations?" "I need the table!" came the familiar harsh reply! I'm certainly not petty, but hospitality is something different! Something completely different!

We were in Oberhof for two days. One evening, we spontaneously strolled here. A few years ago, we also ate here and have very fond memories of it. We were greeted warmly this time and were able to choose our own seating. The veranda is wonderfully cozy, with plenty of space. We ordered two large dark beers, one roulade with dumplings and orange red cabbage, and one venison goulash with dumplings and orange red cabbage. The drinks were served quickly. We had to wait a reasonable amount for the food. We love home-cooked food, and this is exactly what they serve. The roulade was tender, well-seasoned, and very tasty. The venison goulash was also perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The dumplings weren't too big, were fluffy, and went perfectly with the rest. The red cabbage had less of an orange flavor than we expected, but that's not a bad thing. It was still very fitting. There was plenty of sauce on both plates. We ate everything. The restaurant continued to fill up. Then we each treated ourselves to a herbal schnapps from Thuringia, which wasn't too sweet but still tasty. The prices were also reasonable. The restrooms were clean. The service was absolutely excellent the entire time. We say thank you.

The service was friendly and the roast beef is absolutely amazing!

We were warmly welcomed and were able to choose one of the available seats. The staff is attentive and friendly. The ambience was rustic and pleasantly cozy. The food (Thuringian cuisine) tasted delicious and authentic. The dumplings were a poem. It's nice that dogs are not allowed indoors.

Thuringian cuisine, as you would expect, Unfortunately the innkeepers want to stop for reasons of age. I hope there is a successor who can and wants to continue the quality of the restaurant.

Really great and quaint little restaurant. Very traditional and simple. There aren't many dishes on the menu, but there are incredibly tasty 👍 delicious beers and very friendly service. I can really only recommend it 👍

Ich lese TripAdvisor, aber ich schreibe normalerweise keine Bewertungen. Aber das kauzeneck verdient es, gerade aufgrund der vielen negativen Bewertungen, dass ich schreibe. Es war ein sensationell schöner Abend! Großartiges, frisches regionales Essen. Super sympathische, aufmerksame und aufgeschlossene Bedienung. Rundum top!

It gets very crowded after 6:30 p.m., so it's best to arrive beforehand. Price performance was okay. I can recommend it

Very nicely and simply furnished, service is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. The food (Jägerschnitzel) was super tasty, value for money was completely okay. We will stop here again on our next visit to Oberhof.

The restaurant is shabby and uncomfortable. Food average. Service super unfriendly. There are better alternatives in town.

The service was unfriendly and she also reacted harshly when other guests asked about the Rennsteig. Well-known guests, however, received exuberant hugs. The food came quickly and was well seasoned, but carelessly prepared. We ordered without creamed mushrooms, but the food came without any sauce. You could have reacted, it was just dry. Unfortunately, the meat was also hard, the only choice was croquettes or fries, which is a shame because Thuringians are actually better at it. In general we cannot recommend the restaurant at all.

Unfriendly service who insulted everyone when it was (in their opinion) too loud. And told everyone about their illnesses (surgery). Horrible

Absolutely great and authentic Thuringian restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was warm in a cozy, rustic atmosphere.

Unfortunately we can't say anything about the ambience or the food, because we didn't get that far. We were treated so rudely at the entrance because we had a dog with us that we didn't even get that far. That is not how it works. I can understand if someone doesn't want dogs in their restaurant, it could be an allergy or fear or no matter why, but the lady came up and down almost like a fury and threw us out. So... if you're planning on going there with a dog, don't do it!

Good restaurant with nice staff. Good down-to-earth, local food. The only thing that bothers me is that there is hardly anything for vegetarians. But everyone enjoyed it and little extra requests were also fulfilled. Definitely worth a second visit.

Luckily, a very rainy event gave us some lovely hours in the Kauzeneck. The regional cuisine fascinated us in a nostalgic atmosphere and had a very positive influence on our short vacation. Thank you! If we come to Oberhof again, we will definitely come to you!

Some time ago we stood in front of the restaurant, a little undecided. A lady told us that the best Thuringian dumplings are here. And we were not disappointed. The cooking here is really tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is very courteous and friendly. The view of the garden is also very nice. Whenever we are in Oberhof, we always look forward to a visit here. The Kauzeneck is now a must for us when we visit Oberhof if we want to eat authentically.

Das Kauzeneck gehört für uns zu einer Reise nach Oberhof unbedingt dazu, wenn wir authentisch essen wollen. Hier sieht es halt nicht aus wie in Tirol oder in der Toskana. Und deswegen fahre ich nach Thüringen. Das Essen ist lokal und lecker. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich ohne viel Chichi.

Urig, lokal und super sympathisch, kann das Wild und den Germknödel wärmstens empfehlen.

For the potential foreign guests here in English: A hidden restaurant a bit backwards from the main street. Quite rustical but original ambiente. Clear recommendation to go for Soljanka as a starter - a wunderfol original taste I missed long time. But also the venison meals are delicious with the dumblings.

Insgesamt ein wenig ‚ostig‘, dafür aber eine sehr gute, bürgerliche Küche!!! Definitiv einen Besuch wert!!! Die Roulade mit thüringischer Klößen ist unfassbar gut.

Wenn man eine urige regionale Gaststätte sucht, dann ist das Kautzeneck genau richtig. Das Essen ist super lecker, die beiden Damen in der Bedienung und am Tresen total nett, man kommt schnell ins Gespräch. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt , danke an die Damen, macht weiter so. Conny&Andrea

Wir sind hier spontan eingekehrt. Es gibt gut bürgerliche Gerichte zu fairen Preisen - kein Schnickschnack. Menge und Qualität waren absolut zufriedenstellend.

Nettes Personal, gutes Essen. Zügige Bedienung. Ambiente im thüringischen Stil, was sehr selten geworden ist. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Keine vielen Reservierungen. Danke nochmal an dieses Restaurant

Eng, Service ist naja, Essensauswahl ist klein und nichts besonderes.

War spontan zum Essen dort ,wurde auch als Alleinreisende freundlich begrüßt, Essen war sehr gut, Ambiente gemütlich. Empfehlenswert! Da das Lokal keine Reservierung macht ist es ratsam nicht zu den Stosszeiten zu kommen.

Wir waren vor paarJahren schon einmal hier essen (Kurzurlaub) und ich finde es sehr bemerkenswert, dass man der guten Thüringer Hausmannkost treu geblieben ist. Hier wird selbst gekocht.... Rotkohl geschnippelt gegart, fein abgeschmeckt, die Roulade handgewickelt mit Speck, Zwiebel und Gürkchen gefüllt....so wie sich das für eine Thüringer Küche gehört. Die Klösse "de Hüts" absolut klasse. Hausmannskost mit Liebe gekocht wie frührer von meiner Oma.... das Restaurant kann ich nur empfehlen. Sehr aufmerksame nette Bedienung und was für mich den Besuch abrundete.... lecker Thüringer Küche mit Hintergrundmusik von Herbert Roth. Hier ist die Welt in Ordnung, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. :)

Eine sehr schöne Lokalität, das Essen ist sehr lecker, wir haben vieles ausprobiert. Alles frisch zubereitet. Gute deutsche Küche : Ente, Rouladen, Sülze, Rostbrätel u. v. m. Trotzdem geht es schnell. Gute Atmosphäre. Es grüßt Bad Gottleuba, Familie Neumann /Kutschebauch

Die Küche ist einfach PERFEKT, das Personal ebenfalls. Wenn ich in Oberhof bin, dann nur ins Kauzeneck.

Mmmmmh.... Ente, Wildgulasch, Roulade... zum niederknien. Super lecker mit Thüringer Klösse und Rotkohl. Es geht NICHT besser. Urigen Ambiente. Im September sollte man sich 1 mtr. Schnee vorstellen, dann wird es perfekt.

Gutes Essen für einen angemessenen Preis. Kann ich mit ruhigem Gewissen empfehlen .
