Delicious food like Mom used to make, a pleasant atmosphere, and good prices. I'd gladly come again 😊

We had potato soup with sausages and goulash soup, both very tasty, but the lukewarm temperature wasn't ideal. We'll still come again, though.

I had some really delicious stews there. And the piece of crumb cake was moist and nicely crispy on top. I can highly recommend it after a lovely walk through the woods.

A perfect, rustic, and cozy place to stop for a breath of fresh air after a hike. The staff is friendly and welcoming. However, the "hut" is self-service. Typical Thuringian bratwurst is also available. Advance reservations are recommended for tour groups.

I made a quick stop at the Thüringer Hütte, and I have only good things to say. The beer was cold and not overpriced.

This is self-service. The food is dispensed through a window. Since it's always prepared first, there's quite a wait. Perhaps this could be better organized. The food itself, however, tastes very good.

The most delicious Thuringian bratwurst I have ever eaten!!!

So, I'm writing a review for the snack bar next to the Thüringer Hütte. I won't be seeing this snack bar again! I stopped there today to eat a bratwurst. I ordered and paid for the bratwurst at the snack bar and was given a roll to take with me to the grill. I did that and was told it would take a moment. So, no problem. I said I'd sit at the table and wait my turn... A few people were ahead of me and all got their food. The next guests arrived and also got their food... So I thought... I'd ask... So I did, and was stubbornly ignored. So, they should shove their bratwurst somewhere dark. They won't see me again!

We took a break here with our motorcycles. The covered wooden benches were very inviting, and the bratwurst was truly delicious. We also had a very refreshing Waldmeister draft beer. I definitely recommend it for a lovely break. 5⭐️

We celebrated my husband's milestone birthday at the Thüringer Hütte with 40 people. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for us. The bartender was on the ball, the hot buffet was customized to our wishes and was incredibly delicious and more than sufficient! We were able to spend the entire evening on the terrace in the beautiful weather. Thank you, dear hut team, for your hospitality!

If you're coming back from hiking, this inn is a very nice place. The price/performance ratio is simply excellent, and the friendly staff is something you don't find everywhere these days. 😏 Keep up the good work 👏🏻.

The place is recommendable. But the prices for a regular roast beef, even if it's from Thuringia, aren't. It's completely overpriced at €5.50 and too salty. I'd say it's a rip-off.

We've been to this beautiful, delicious place three times already! The day before yesterday, we were once again able to experience the warm hospitality and excellent food. We were there with our dog, Julius. He even received a treat. The snack was freshly prepared by Manu. We always feel very comfortable. Best wishes to you.

I won't be back. The place looks quite nice. I wanted a fries because I'm vegetarian. After waiting in line for 10 minutes outside at the sausage stand, I was told they had fries inside. So I waited another 10 minutes inside, where I was told they didn't have any. I drove on, hungry.

The grill is great, the man behind the grill knows his stuff. A deduction is made for the fact that the beer isn't filled to the gauge line, which was unfortunately noticed too late. The service only gets two points: first, it's self-service, where you get the drinks first and then the food, and the beer head is long gone by then. The biggest drawback, and the one that loses the most points, is "cash only." In a place that attracts tourists from all over, that's a real nuisance. It's completely unacceptable.

We arrived (unintentionally) just before closing time, but were still served friendly, enjoyed the food, and it was also reasonably priced. We'll be happy to return.

Arriving for the Rennsteiglauf weekend is always a Thuringian bratwurst tradition. This time we landed here. It was delicious.

Rustic inn to stop off when visiting Oberhof, an event or after skiing or hiking. Located within walking distance of the ski slope, bobsleigh track and directly opposite the biathlon arena. You can get food and drinks at the respective counters. Food is simple but freshly prepared and good as you would expect. Outside there is a barbecue hut, seating and a playground. Sporting events are broadcast on TVs and, if necessary, screens. Worth a visit!

The bratwurst and solyanka were delicious. My daughter's ketchup sandwich wasn't charged. Great :) Otherwise, it's just a snack bar, but I think it's exactly what I was looking for.

Had a solyanka there again for a long time. While this cost €6 in May 2022, you now charge €7.50 for a child's portion. You will be asked to pay extra to use the toilet and charge your cell phone. An impudence that certainly does not serve the Thuringia tourism region. The operators should be ashamed.

Friday lunchtime (outside of major sporting events), best winter weather, nice to look at the hut inside and out. BUT: Here, too, one has the impression that the people of Oberhof have still not recognized that regional day tourists could make up a large part of the business. The hut is packed on a Friday lunchtime. There's no music playing. Unfortunately there is only ONE service at the self-service bar, which is not unfriendly but moderately quick. The waiting guests were annoyed. Unfortunately, the food on offer was only snack-like. With a little more ambience, proper daily cuisine and service, much more could be achieved. It felt like a big takeaway. The upstairs bar was closed. Walking up the stairs with ski boots, a drink and food in your hand isn't necessarily fun either. The basis is there, but the execution needs a lot of improvement.

We have been here many times and always feel very comfortable. Everything just fits.

We were there in winter after a hike and were very grateful for a warm and dry place. Based on the meal we ate there, I judge the kitchen and the kitchen staff to be extremely simple convenience processors. The atmosphere appears very rustic due to the rustic wooden fittings.

Great pit stop after walking or skiing

I find it impossible that you have to pay to use the toilet in a restaurant even though you eat something. And the waitress could also chew your gum with your mouth closed.

Beautiful rustic location! With self-service, you have to get food and drinks separately! Pasta with sauce was ok to fill you up, plate of solyanka was very sparse for the price, but it was tasty! The offer isn't that big, but it's enough for a short lunch break, the prices are quite high!

The hut was very busy. Nevertheless, the staff managed to process the orders quickly and carefully. All dishes were nicely prepared. The soups were delicious!

Since I travel in the region every week for work, I took a short detour at the end of the year to eat a bratwurst. It was worth it - the bratwurst was tasty, the grill master was in a very good mood, the price-performance ratio was good and the environment invites you to linger, especially when it's snowy. The clientele you meet is very diverse, from young to old - Winter sports enthusiasts/skiers, vacationers/tourists, professional commuters and craftsmen... We spontaneously took the 2 hour drive on Christmas Eve to have lunch at the Thüringer Hütte. That was also very worthwhile. In addition to the snowy winter landscape, there was mulled wine and we decided to stay in the hut. It is self-service, the food and drink selection is extensive and the price is completely ok. The atmosphere is cozy and invites you to linger for a longer period of time. The staff was consistently very friendly and accommodating. The hut fits there and is certainly worth a visit at any time of the year. We'll definitely come back for a weekend vacation in January. Keep it up!!

Avoid at all costs if you are not a skier

We drove an hour to Oberhof to walk from there to the Thüringer Hütte. We were looking forward to a beer outdoors in the sun. But we couldn't pay by card or cell phone. It would only be possible to pay from 20€. Even the question of why and an exception remained unsuccessful. We were very annoyed about this because there was no reference to it anywhere. It seems a bit backwards if you want to make sales in today's digital world and can only pay with cash.

Traurige Vorstellung Kartenzahlung erst ab 20€....Leute...wart Ihr schon mal woanders im Urlaub? Deutschland ist sowas von ahnungslos, wie man einen Gast behandelt...und hier am Thüringer Hotspot so eine Vorstellung...Wie gesagt, einfach traurig!

Rustic hut, friendly staff, self-service. We only drank something, the prices were completely reasonable. The grill master stood outside in the snowstorm and grilled Thuringian sausages. Great. We'd love to come back. Dogs are very welcome there, our dog was even brought a drinking bowl. Thanks for that.

Nice atmosphere and restaurant at Grenzadler. No service. You order and pick up food and drink at the “counter” or counter. We only had cake with cream and ice cream and were very happy with it.

Mass tourism...is not to everyone's taste, and quite expensive for a snack. For a small paper cup of hot chocolate 3 euros,... pure sugar water.

I often come by here on my bike to take a break, eat a Rostbrätel or a bratwurst and drink a wheat beer. The prices have always been indecently high, but €9.50 for a small, dry roll with a small Rostbrätel and a wheat beer, that's criminal. In addition, the wheat beer glass only has a content of 400 ml. Quietly, quietly and secretly, the state-tolerated or desired fraud of citizens is progressing. It will certainly be argued that the many recipients of citizens' benefits and the invasive, alleged refugees need to be fed. In any case, I won't be eating or drinking there anymore.

Great ambience, nice seating. The bratwurst was too small for the price that was way too high and very greasy with gristle. There are better ones in Thuringia. The Rostbrätel was ok.

We were guests at the small kiosk next to the inn. There is a nice playground right next to it. The wait was reasonable as everything was freshly prepared as it wasn't busy. The prices are ok for this exposed location. Rostbratwurst 4 euros, liver cheese roll 3 euros, Rostbrätl 5 euros.

You'll immediately be on your first name. Unfortunately the potato soup didn't taste good. Bland canned soup. The sausage was delicious, but it only felt like half a sausage. Price a bit high for a soup. The hut itself is a wow. The lady behind the counter could be a little friendlier. All in all a 3 from me.

Highly recommended! Cozy log cabin atmosphere, delicious food (despite the many visitors) and cozy ambience. For the acceptable price-performance ratio, the excellent and very tasty food, but also for the excellent/attentive service, we clearly give it a full five stars: )*****

Rustic self-service restaurant with plenty of seating. Ideal for hikers and athletes. Nice playground next door. Some free parking spaces, otherwise many paid parking spaces directly in front. In the middle of the Rennsteig, a good starting or ending point for tours.

You just have to know that if it's free, you can park right in front of it, so that women or men can save the rather high parking costs directly opposite...if something is free and you "just" want to come to eat. The prices for the food have now become quite “reasonable”.

You can get the best bratwursts in all of Thuringia here, the view of the sports facilities all around is also gigantic and you can occasionally see well-known athletes training.

The service is subpar... given the prices you have to wait in line and organize everything yourself... even the rolls for the bratwurst are carelessly handed to you and when you ask if you could grill them for a bit you are kindly sent away. It's actually a shame given the beautiful location
