Beim Waldschrat in Oberhof

The food was very good, typical of the region, but unfortunately, the wait was about an hour. After two days, we happened to look at the bill again and noticed that one meal had been overcharged – one meal order had been swapped, but both meals were billed. It's a shame about the negative point; it wasn't necessary. In retrospect, it was a misunderstanding, certainly not intentional, but resolved satisfactorily! Hello Waldschrat Team, I have thankfully received your reply. Eight of us visited you last Friday evening without a reservation. We received a friendly welcome with our dog and were given a quiet place. The food came quickly, was hot and very tasty. Unfortunately, the prices on the Internet have not been updated and have become a little more expensive, but the price-performance ratio is still okay. So worth recommending! Drinks are also okay and the light beer is very drinkable. PS: we really liked the music and it was at a pleasant volume.

A very good address for delicious food

There were 8 of us in the Waldschrat as we often did, everything is prepared fresh and with love. We mostly come for the schnitzel, as in my opinion this is the highlight in Waldschrat. The Jägerschnitzel in particular is a dream. But our vegetarian ladies were also happily full. I promised myself more from the food. Had beer meat with dumplings and sauerkraut. A small slice of meat from the dumplings was completely tasteless and the sauce was like water, which is how it tasted.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was very full and the staff still tried to find space and not have to send anyone home. The taste of the food was very, very tasty, but there could have been a little more to fill you up and the children's menu was also very small, so a child couldn't have been full. I can only recommend the cocktails, they taste great and are beautifully prepared. Despite the lack of staff due to illness, the staff were on their toes that evening and always friendly. All in all worth a visit.

Quite an uncomfortable restaurant. The food, Jägerschnitzel, came quickly, but didn't taste particularly good. All the spring onions in the otherwise bland sauce were annoying. It's also a shame - especially for the friendly service - that you can't give a tip with a card (I gave it in cash)...

I've been to Oberhof several times so far, and I always enjoyed eating at the Waldschrat restaurant, the food was very tasty, but unfortunately on the day I was there there were no more Thuringian dumplings as they are really popular in this restaurant, but in the end I decided on a DDR Jägerschnitel which really tasted great! :) Unfortunately you have to wait a bit long for your food as the restaurant is very full, but the wait is definitely worth it for such delicious food! I would always like to recommend eating at Walsschrat in Oberhof! :)

We came here to eat an hour ago and didn't have a reservation...but the really nice service gave us a warm welcome and so far we've eaten like a dream, it was really delicious. A big thank you to the kitchen.

We (3 adults + 4 children) had a very good meal here! We tried: Children: - Pasta with tomato sauce - Klos with sauce - Children's schnitzel Adult: - Thuringian beef roulade - Waldschratschnitzel - Jägerschnitzel Then there was ice cream with fresh strawberries 😋🍨 Prices are normal (beef roulade €22) The service is very child-friendly; pleasant and familiar atmosphere.

Rustic, hearty, delicious. Service was quick and attentive despite a full house. Food came quickly. Solyanka as a starter is spicy and rich. Almost too much. Schnitzel could do with a slightly larger plate. Reservations recommended, spontaneous visitors could then only sit at the counter. Prices are typical for Oberhof, but also reasonable here. We will definitely come back here on our next visit.

Wie auch in vergangener Zeit hat mich der Waldschrat beeindruckt, die Speisen sowie der Service entsprechen immer noch der Vergangenheit und haben sich im Angebot sogar noch verbessert,für mich ist die Gaststätte eine erste Wahl in Oberhof wo man sehr gut essen und trinken kann,Tierliebhaber können ihren Vierbeiner mitbringen ,was für manche GASTSTÄTTEN ein Problem ist.

Initially no place, via WhatsApp. The owner even warned us via voice app to be careful with cross-country skiing as the snow was very bad and there was a risk of slippery conditions! Went by anyway and there was still room for 4 people! Delicious food (wild goulash, schnitzel and pasta), everyone was very satisfied! Nice wine and beer! We will definitely come back here again!

I was unsure whether such a conversion was even possible in my rented apartment, but the company convinced me. Everything was precisely planned and professionally implemented. We felt very comfortable in this rustic restaurant and therefore stopped here twice. The food was very good, the trout and fjord salmon were simply delicious. The service was very pleasant and despite the workload there was still time for a nice conversation. We would love to come back.

Wir kamen um 15 Uhr, um etwas essen. Es war zwar offen, aber die Küche erst ab 17 Uhr wieder in Betrieb. Kellner unhöflich, Musik furchtbar, kleiner Tee für 4.30 Euro... es schien, dass sie sich um Gäste nicht so kümmern müssen, weil es in der Saison zu wenige Lokale gibt.

We were in Waldschrat on December 30th, 2024 with a group of 16 people. The service and food were very good and they managed us well as a large group. Will be back tonight.

Total disaster! You wait here for more than an hour for your food. If you ask, you'll just be told that you're not the only one waiting. Children are talked at stupidly and insulted by the staff if they are too loud (children were talking at a normal volume). Mind you, they make the children wait over an hour for their food!! Oh yes, training in friendliness would be useful for the waiter! If only the food had tasted good. But this was just as underground! Conclusion: It's better not to go here (at least not with children or as a larger group). Edit: The reaction to my comment says it all... Everyone can make their own judgment, but then not because of... Be surprised by bad service and bad food.

Very tasty food and drink but the wait was a bit long

I had a fantastic dining experience at this place. The drink selection was impressive, the food was delicious and the ambience was thoroughly pleasant.

If you want to spend a wonderful evening in Oberhof with excellent food, you should definitely visit this restaurant. The evening was a culinary experience for us, and with this great service we were sure to book another table for the second evening. Many thanks to the entire Waldschrat team

If you don't have a reservation you will be treated and served much differently. We waited over half an hour for the starter, while the people sitting next to us had already finished eating. For your information, the people next to us even showed up 5 minutes later than us.

Be sure to reserve at Waldschrat! The ambience is very unusual, but not too kitschy. Extremely child-friendly (play kitchen and various toys available). The staff is nice and attentive, and when it's full they'll still offer you a seat at the counter if there's space. The food is great... Also unusual dishes at reasonable prices. We'd love to come back.

Last but not least, we got to know the two culinary delights and were able to express our big thanks for how great the kitchen is. What an incredible find! This place really has it all. I was very impressed by the friendly staff and the delicious cuisine. The solyanka and Thuringian dumplings were seasoned just right and cooked perfectly; definitely a place to visit again!
