Beim Waldschrat in Oberhof

The staff is extremely attentive and the cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable. The portions are generous and filling.

We were there from November 5th. until November 9th, 2024 in Oberhof. We ate here 3 out of 4 days (Thursday was a rest day, otherwise it would have been 4 out of 4) and we can say that it was very tasty. The team was very friendly and there was still time for a small break. We can highly recommend the restaurant, the ambience is also very good. We'll definitely see each other again in the summer! We come here to eat at the same time every year and just love it. The food is delicious and the service is extremely friendly, which unfortunately you can't find everywhere anymore. They are super nice and you don't really have to wait. I can recommend the cocktails and the Waldschratschnitzel and wild boar goulash when eating. Always happy

From the warm welcome you receive at the entrance to your departure, the entire experience is exceptional. While you're here, be sure to try the Thuringian dumplings; it's an incredible dish that you shouldn't miss. I highly recommend a visit here!

The two of us went here for dinner in the evening. We once had the grilled sausages with dumpling fries and the roulade with red cabbage and dumpling. We really enjoyed it and would certainly order it again (the price was completely reasonable). The guest room is certainly suitable for one or two after ski parties in winter. So all in all, a place where you can have one or two meals and drinks.

It's incredibly comfortable to sit here and the food is exceptionally good.

A small but nice restaurant in Oberhof. Rather inconspicuous from the outside but cozy inside. The food was very tasty. The portion is okay. The price-performance ratio is typical for Oberhof. Card payment is possible. The employees were very friendly. Helpful. Have good advice. The trout Müllerin style was very tasty. But the ox cheeks were also very tender and tasty. The homemade potato dumplings are a real treat.

It's been a long time since we've had DDR Jägerschnitzel, which was mega delicious and beautifully prepared. The gentleman in service on Saturday was super friendly and nice even though he was alone and really had a lot to do. Price performance great The only thing we found was that it was a bit cold in the restaurant. But we'll be back. Keep it up 👍

Quaint, rustic restaurant with good cuisine. On the menu there is a section with original Thuringian dishes. Yummy! Good selection of beers that are also easy to drink. The service was very friendly and quick. Food came very quickly on both visits. If I ever come to Oberhof again, I will stop there again.

Begonnen hat unser Restaurantbesuch damit, dass mehrere Mitarbeiter rauchend vorm Haupteingang standen - das geht garnicht!!! Dementsprechend standen wir für einen Moment etwas hilflos im Gastraum und hielten Ausschau nach einem freien Tisch. Wir wurden dann in die „Lounge“ platziert, an sich nicht schlecht - sauber, ordentlich, modern = hat gepasst! Einziger Nachteil - wir waren der Küche offenbar sehr nah, denn es hat mächtig nach Fritteuse gerochen. War die Ablüftung defekt?!? Die Kellnerin war flink und hat im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten zumindest versucht, Gastfreundlichkeit auszustrahlen (dies war aber durchaus ausbaufähig). Getränke und auch das Essen kamen recht fix. Die Portionen waren ausreichend und die Preis-Leistung hat für uns soweit gepasst. Unser Sohn wollte als Nachtisch gern ein Eis und meine Frau einen Eiskaffee, nachdem wir jedoch 21min. darauf gewartet haben und zwischenzeitlich der Kellnerin mehrfach signalisiert haben, dass es jetzt dann doch schön wäre, wenn der Nachtisch kommt, haben wir den Nachtisch storniert, alles andere bezahlt und sind etwas enttäuscht wieder gegangen. Fazit: das Essen war wirklich gut und fair bepreist, leider hat der mangelhafte Service uns den Besuch verdorben! Wirklich schade.

A little hidden away near the Berghotel and consumption (in the middle of Oberhof) you will find this small, cozy inn. The reservation for 13 people via WhatsApp was super easy and quick. There is a small play area for the kids👌. Our food was ordered quickly and on the table quickly, beautifully prepared and delicious. The Waldschrat drinks (such as schnapps or non-alcoholic cocktails) are particularly recommended.

We went there for dinner today in a group of 12 people. The waiter and waitress were super competent and very nice. You immediately felt warmly welcome. We also got the food quite quickly and, above all, all of it almost at the same time. The food is delicious and attractively prepared. I had a large salad and what was great here was that the dressing was served separately. Super delicious Thuringian cuisine. We'll definitely come back.

A very busy, nice, hidden restaurant. Found via internet. Called quickly and got a seat straight away on Sunday lunchtime. The food is modern with a Thuringian basis. Prices were moderate for Oberhof (where a grilled bratwurst costs €5.00).

Went for dinner without pre-ordering and got a seat because we ate early, it's better to call ahead, but the food was very tasty, portions could have been a little larger, but maybe I was just very hungry.

Prices are absolutely fine, real home cooking, roast beer and game goulash were a 1 👍🏻 As the name suggests, don't expect a fancy restaurant - honest and cozy with a large bar in the dining room, you can imagine that you can also celebrate well here after a day of skiing 🍻

We were in Oberhof over the weekend and had dinner at Waldschrat. We were lucky and were able to get a table. All I can say is it was perfect. Super nice staff, super delicious food and a great atmosphere. I would give 10 stars if I could.👍👍👍👍👍👍 Anyone visiting Oberhof should definitely stop here.

(Probably) Unfortunately had a bad day. Waiting time for the first order was about 30 minutes. Perhaps this was because the service - alone - was completely overwhelmed. But then it's part of the impression. The food itself was good, although the portion of the dumpling fries was very manageable. You can watch the glassblower through a pane of glass, which adds variety. App advertised on the homepage and everywhere else is not up to date. - The “competition” alone will no longer be tracked.

We ate here twice on our vacation. It was very tasty both times. The vegetable rösti were very good and are a great vegetarian alternative! The portions are usually not too big and not too small. If you are very hungry, you can have an appetizer. Reservations are absolutely necessary!

There are two “meal times”; you have to decide whether 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Unfortunately, this means you have to wait quite a long time until you can order and are also easily ignored. The starter was then forgotten. But the food tastes very good, praise to the kitchen.

Ambiance very rustic. Very nice waitress. Reservation of seats via Whatsapp worked great, you should also do this in high season. One of the best restaurants in Oberhof. More Thuringian beers would be cool, but Bavarian is also delicious.

The portions were generous and I was completely satisfied. The drinks were excellent and the atmosphere was truly remarkable.

We've eaten better, it looked good, but we didn't like that everything came in separate bowls (the dumpling together with the sauce in a bowl, the red cabbage in a bowl and the roulade individually on the plate in between), wasn't quite as good to eat. In addition, the dumpling and the roulade were a bit dry. I've adjusted my rating a bit because you're right, 2 stars were really a bit low, so now I'd like 3 stars 😊

Authentic Thuringian cuisine that is simply convincing. We had GDR-style spiced meat and game goulash with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage. Everything is fresh and prepared in-house. I hardly know a restaurant that takes the trouble to make the dumplings themselves. Most people use the ready-made dumplings, but that's not the case here. Everything is super delicious! We were warmly welcomed by the team. We liked it so much that we made another reservation for 6 people the following week. We would be happy to come back again!

We were very satisfied. A great and lovely staff. The selection of dishes left nothing to be desired. Drink requests were fulfilled very well. Unfortunately, a few dishes said "fresh". Unfortunately, it tasted more like a can than fresh. All in all, it was great to peace.PS: You could look for the filling in the beef roulade but unfortunately somehow couldn't really find it.PS: "Fresh" mushrooms, in my opinion they weren't. They were so watery that if you didn't wash them, just brush them off, maybe that was the reason .I've been in the catering industry for almost 20 years. Trained restaurant specialist, bartender and assistant chef in the saucier and gardemanger area. Despite everything, we were extremely happy with the service and quality. Nothing speaks against a next visit.

The ambience in one of the two rooms I stayed in was like that of a restaurant called “Waldschrat”. In the other, everything is very modern and not really rustic. The food wasn't enough for me personally and I wasn't full, but it tasted quite good. The waiter who served me was very friendly, but a little too pushy for my taste. The prices are within reason. All in all a solid 3/5.

Price/performance completely unacceptable. We had roulade with dumpling + red cabbage and Thuringian Rostbrätel with fried potatoes. Taste wise it was a disaster. The red cabbage was cooked completely soft and the roulade was very small in proportion. This dish came to €22.50. The Rostbrätel was very tough and wasn't even spread with mustard. The fried potatoes were neither fresh nor seasoned. The dish came to €19.90. Not recommended!

If you prefer a sports field pub atmosphere, it might be ok. Unusual: All the windows are taped shut. The second guest room exudes the cold “coziness” of a doctor’s waiting room. The staff is harsh and obviously, due to the lack of restaurants in Oberhof, very fed up and correspondingly unfriendly. Not recommended.

We sat outside and had the finest meal there. Fjord salmon on leaf spinach or chicken breast on a bed of spinach were excellent! And visually very creative.

On a Tuesday, 7:00 p.m.… we arrived hungry and thirsty! Nice and boyish service and (there was an “offensive” adjective here) menu… The Rostbrätl with crispy fried potatoes - leeeccckkkkker and also enough for a really hungry person... ...Unfortunately I wasn't hungry enough for the 1.1 kg grilled knuckle - a shame!!! But I'm training for next spring - that's it...
