Beim Waldschrat in Oberhof

Wow! It started with a reservation via WhatsApp. Our request was responded to very quickly. We had chosen a late time, with the kitchen closing time approaching and the associated well-deserved break. Nevertheless, our wish became possible. In the end, we got there much earlier and were given a very open and warm welcome. A very attentive and friendly service. Super tasty and sometimes unusual dishes. Thank you very much for the little break with you! Gladly again, then with brawn ☺️

A very busy, nice, hidden restaurant. Found via internet. Called quickly and got a seat straight away on Sunday lunchtime. The food is modern with a Thuringian basis. Prices were moderate for Oberhof (where a grilled bratwurst costs €5.00).

Went for dinner without pre-ordering and got a seat because we ate early, it's better to call ahead, but the food was very tasty, portions could have been a little larger, but maybe I was just very hungry.

Quaint atmosphere, delicious beer - good selection! Prices are absolutely fine, real home cooking, roast beer and game goulash were a 1 👍🏻 As the name suggests, don't expect a fancy restaurant - honest and cozy with a large bar in the dining room, you can imagine that you can also celebrate well here after a day of skiing 🍻

We were in Oberhof over the weekend and had dinner at Waldschrat. We were lucky and were able to get a table. All I can say is it was perfect. Super nice staff, super delicious food and a great atmosphere. I would give 10 stars if I could.👍👍👍👍👍👍 Anyone visiting Oberhof should definitely stop here.

Delicious food and super friendly service. Despite the hut being full, there were two places for us. Our evening began with a delicious spicy meat. The plates were lovingly designed in the kitchen and one or two were quickly cleaned by us. Thank you for a great evening!

Definitely a location with a very special and unique charm! Super friendly and really great service staff! Food was really good - portions more than generous! When it comes to value for money, there is nothing to complain about either. Definitely worth a visit ☝🏼

Quaint restaurant, always full, table must be reserved, great food, great, quick service

(Probably) Unfortunately had a bad day. Waiting time for the first order was about 30 minutes. Perhaps this was because the service - alone - was completely overwhelmed. But then it's part of the impression. The food itself was good, although the portion of the dumpling fries was very manageable. You can watch the glassblower through a pane of glass, which adds variety. App advertised on the homepage and everywhere else is not up to date. - The “competition” alone will no longer be tracked.

We ate here twice on our vacation. It was very tasty both times. The vegetable rösti were very good and are a great vegetarian alternative! The portions are usually not too big and not too small. If you are very hungry, you can have an appetizer. Reservations are absolutely necessary!

Table reservation was confirmed via WhatsApp. Arrived and there was no table available. The statement was: maybe again in an hour. It doesn't work at all

There are two “meal times”; you have to decide whether 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Unfortunately, this means you have to wait quite a long time until you can order and are also easily ignored. The starter was then forgotten. But the food tastes very good, praise to the kitchen.

Ambiance very rustic. Very nice waitress. Reservation of seats via Whatsapp worked great, you should also do this in high season. One of the best restaurants in Oberhof. More Thuringian beers would be cool, but Bavarian is also delicious.

The portions were generous and I was completely satisfied. The drinks were excellent and the atmosphere was truly remarkable.

We've eaten better, it looked good, but we didn't like that everything came in separate bowls (the dumpling together with the sauce in a bowl, the red cabbage in a bowl and the roulade individually on the plate in between), wasn't quite as good to eat. In addition, the dumpling and the roulade were a bit dry. I've adjusted my rating a bit because you're right, 2 stars were really a bit low, so now I'd like 3 stars 😊

The food is far too expensive for the quality offered, the service is a professional disaster and the ambience is of a really old restaurant and it smells of grease everywhere

We can really recommend the restaurant, we went there a second time because it was so delicious, this time with a reservation. So it's better to call in advance and book a table then you'll have a very relaxed and cozy evening in the Waldschrat!!!

It was our first time in Waldschrat and hopefully not the last time. If you want to eat comfortably and really well, authentically, this is the right place for you. Price performance is top!!! And the service beats everything. Actually 5 stars aren't enough 🤷‍♂️

This restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience with a fantastic selection of dishes. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available to suit different tastes and preferences.

Delicious Thuringian specialties

Authentic Thuringian cuisine that is simply convincing. We had GDR-style spiced meat and game goulash with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage. Everything is fresh and prepared in-house. I hardly know a restaurant that takes the trouble to make the dumplings themselves. Most people use the ready-made dumplings, but that's not the case here. Everything is super delicious! We were warmly welcomed by the team. We liked it so much that we made another reservation for 6 people the following week. We would be happy to come back again!

We were here today without a reservation, got a seat, the food was really great and when we wanted to drink something we were given the opportunity to stay at another table. Staff 👍

Unfortunately, it tasted more like a can than fresh. All in all, it was great to peace.PS: You could look for the filling in the beef roulade but unfortunately somehow couldn't really find it.PS: "Fresh" mushrooms, in my opinion they weren't. They were so watery that if you didn't wash them, just brush them off, maybe that was the reason .I've been in the catering industry for almost 20 years. Trained restaurant specialist, bartender and assistant chef in the saucier and gardemanger area. Despite everything, we were extremely happy with the service and quality. Nothing speaks against a next visit.

The ambience in one of the two rooms I stayed in was like that of a restaurant called “Waldschrat”. In the other, everything is very modern and not really rustic. The food wasn't enough for me personally and I wasn't full, but it tasted quite good. The waiter who served me was very friendly, but a little too pushy for my taste. The prices are within reason. All in all a solid 3/5.

Price/performance completely unacceptable. We had roulade with dumpling + red cabbage and Thuringian Rostbrätel with fried potatoes. Taste wise it was a disaster. The red cabbage was cooked completely soft and the roulade was very small in proportion. This dish came to €22.50. The Rostbrätel was very tough and wasn't even spread with mustard. The fried potatoes were neither fresh nor seasoned. The dish came to €19.90. Not recommended!

If you prefer a sports field pub atmosphere, it might be ok. Unusual: All the windows are taped shut. The second guest room exudes the cold “coziness” of a doctor’s waiting room. The staff is harsh and obviously, due to the lack of restaurants in Oberhof, very fed up and correspondingly unfriendly. Not recommended.

We sat outside and had the finest meal there. Fjord salmon on leaf spinach or chicken breast on a bed of spinach were excellent! And visually very creative.

On a Tuesday, 7:00 p.m.… we arrived hungry and thirsty! Nice and boyish service and (there was an “offensive” adjective here) menu… The Rostbrätl with crispy fried potatoes - leeeccckkkkker and also enough for a really hungry person... ...Unfortunately I wasn't hungry enough for the 1.1 kg grilled knuckle - a shame!!! But I'm training for next spring - that's it...

The cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. A shady spot can always be found and is not at the tourist hotpot. The musical background with Heinz Rudolf Kunze emphasizes the rustic atmosphere. The selection of dishes is clear but there is something for every taste. Vegetarians are also taken into consideration. The adventure restaurant “bei Waldschrat” is always worth a trip and you can’t get it from Jochen Schweizer.
