Beim Waldschrat in Oberhof

Truly exceptional. The burger was perfectly cooked and undoubtedly one of the best I've ever tasted. The fries were impeccable, and the cocktail menu was outstanding.

We spontaneously stopped by today after a hike on the Rennsteig. Luckily, there was a table available for us. The food was delicious, the portions were enormous, and the beer was tasty. We'd love to come back.

Very attentive and friendly service. Super delicious food. The dumplings are a dream. Reservations via WhatsApp worked perfectly. Our dog was also welcome. Unfortunately, we had to leave early and didn't get to try the homemade roulades. But we'll be back!

I had dinner there last night with a colleague, and the food was absolutely incredible. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors were perfectly balanced. It was an exceptional evening, and I will definitely be back!

We actually just wanted a piece of cake and a coffee. But then we made a reservation for the evening (thank goodness). My wife had the Wiener Schnitzel. I couldn't decide between ox cheeks and knuckle. When I was assured they were handmade dumplings, it had to be the ox cheeks. Both were absolutely delicious!! The meat melted in your mouth. The dumpling... amazing (like my great-grandmother's!) First, a GDR spiced meat - just like it used to be. So what can I say? Very tasty food, super friendly service, delicious cocktails. There's really nothing to complain about. The menu is very extensive, the service was super friendly and attentive, and we got our drinks and food very quickly. The atmosphere is great and the prices are really reasonable. Highly recommended.

Everything is just right here! The house beer is super drinkable, the staff is friendly, and despite being busy, they keep everything under control. The kitchen is staffed by experts who know their craft. We were there two evenings and can highly recommend the venison steak and a spot at the bar 😀

We went to eat at the Waldschrat with a large group. The food was okay, but unfortunately only lukewarm. The service was very hectic and not very friendly. It's just a tourist spot.

The food was very good, especially considering the dynamic nature of our group. All the meals for 13 people arrived at the same time, including appetizers and desserts. Unfortunately, the heated, irritable atmosphere contagiously affected the staff, who perhaps could have acted more calmly.

Unfortunately, it was fully booked. We managed to get a seat at the counter and ate there. The food was very tasty.

Even if you have to wait a bit, the staff is still friendly and the food is good. The house schnapps is very good.

Einfach nur gut!!! Bester Service, beste Laune, lecker Essen, immer ein fröhliches Wort, tolle Speisekarte...und Getränke und auch, daß muss mal gesagt werden - alkoholfreie Cocktails - nicht überall üblich tolles Ambiente nur zu empfehlen und auch zu empfehlen: reserviert am besten man bekommt ggf. auch so einen Platz, alles wird möglich gemacht, aber mit Reservierung ist es sicher 🙂

I was disappointed with the food and the service. I arrived two minutes before official opening, which the manager wasn't happy about. My meat was dry and therefore tough, and in my opinion, not worth the money. I won't be going back again.

Food very tasty, large portions

The food was very good, typical of the region, but unfortunately, the wait was about an hour. After two days, we happened to look at the bill again and noticed that one meal had been overcharged – one meal order had been swapped, but both meals were billed. It's a shame about the negative point; it wasn't necessary. In retrospect, it was a misunderstanding, certainly not intentional, but resolved satisfactorily! Hello Waldschrat team, I have thankfully received your reply. Eight of us visited you last Friday evening without a reservation. We received a friendly welcome with our dog and were given a quiet place. The food came quickly, was hot and very tasty. Unfortunately, the prices on the Internet have not been updated and have become a little more expensive, but the price-performance ratio is still okay. So worth recommending! Drinks are also okay and the light beer is very drinkable. PS: we really liked the music and it was at a pleasant volume.

There were 8 of us in the Waldschrat as we often did, everything is prepared fresh and with love. We mostly come for the schnitzel, as in my opinion this is the highlight in Waldschrat. The Jägerschnitzel in particular is a dream. But our vegetarian ladies were also happily full. A very good address for delicious food

Leider hatten wir als Familie schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht. Kinder sind offensichtlich nicht das gewünschte Klientel dieses Restaurants. Der Kellner und Chef waren den ganzen Abend unfreundlich und unmotiviert. Das Essen hat über eine Stunde auf sich warten lassen. Als es endlich da war, schmeckte es eher wie ein Fertigprodukt aus dem Discounter. Der Preis für das Gesamtpaket war dann doch schon echt stolz. Schade.

I promised myself more from the food. Had beer meat with dumplings and sauerkraut. A small slice of meat from the dumplings was completely tasteless and the sauce was like water, which is how it tasted.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was very full and the staff still tried to find space and not have to send anyone home. The taste of the food was very, very tasty, but there could have been a little more to fill you up and the children's menu was also very small, so a child couldn't have been full. I can only recommend the cocktails, they taste great and are beautifully prepared. Despite the lack of staff due to illness, the staff were on their toes that evening and always friendly. All in all worth a visit.

Quite an uncomfortable restaurant. The food, Jägerschnitzel, came quickly, but didn't taste particularly good. All the spring onions in the otherwise bland sauce were annoying. It's also a shame - especially for the friendly service - that you can't give a tip with a card (I gave it in cash)...

I've been to Oberhof several times so far, and I always enjoyed eating at the Waldschrat restaurant, the food was very tasty, but unfortunately on the day I was there there were no more Thuringian dumplings as they are really popular in this restaurant, but in the end I decided on a DDR Jägerschnitel which really tasted great! :) Unfortunately you have to wait a bit long for your food as the restaurant is very full, but the wait is definitely worth it for such delicious food! I would always like to recommend eating at Walsschrat in Oberhof! :)

We tried: Children: - Pasta with tomato sauce - Klos with sauce - Children's schnitzel Adult: - Thuringian beef roulade - Waldschratschnitzel - Jägerschnitzel Then there was ice cream with fresh strawberries 😋🍨 Prices are normal (beef roulade €22) The service is very child-friendly; pleasant and familiar atmosphere.

Rustic, hearty, delicious. Service was quick and attentive despite a full house. Food came quickly. Solyanka as a starter is spicy and rich. Almost too much. Schnitzel could do with a slightly larger plate. Reservations recommended, spontaneous visitors could then only sit at the counter. Prices are typical for Oberhof, but also reasonable here. We will definitely come back here on our next visit.

Wie auch in vergangener Zeit hat mich der Waldschrat beeindruckt, die Speisen sowie der Service entsprechen immer noch der Vergangenheit und haben sich im Angebot sogar noch verbessert,für mich ist die Gaststätte eine erste Wahl in Oberhof wo man sehr gut essen und trinken kann,Tierliebhaber können ihren Vierbeiner mitbringen ,was für manche GASTSTÄTTEN ein Problem ist.

Wir waren heute als Familie zum Abendessen hier. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Personal war sehr freundlich, Essen super lecker und das Ambiente ist auch ansprechend. Wir kommen sicher mal wieder.

Initially no place, via WhatsApp. The owner even warned us via voice app to be careful with cross-country skiing as the snow was very bad and there was a risk of slippery conditions! Went by anyway and there was still room for 4 people! Delicious food (wild goulash, schnitzel and pasta), everyone was very satisfied! Nice wine and beer! We will definitely come back here again!
