Hotel Strauss Würzburg in Würzburg

People with disabilities are apparently not welcome. I rely on a service dog, and at check-in, there was no problem. The next morning, the manager rudely told me that dogs are not allowed in the hotel. When I pointed out that I, as a severely disabled person, depend on the service dog and that nothing had been said about my dog ​​at check-in, she replied that she was the manager. I then paid an additional cleaning fee for dog hair, which my dog ​​does NOT shed, as he is a hypoallergenic Spanish Water Dog. The extra fee itself is not the issue, but the way she handled it was simply appalling. Apparently, people with severe disabilities are not welcome at this hotel. Wheelchair users or people who rely on a walker also have problems here, as, for example, you have to climb several steps to get to the breakfast buffet, and the much too small elevator was completely unusable. The rooms were only accessible via stairs. The location is good, the breakfast is good, and the hotel is clean.

This is a lovely little hotel, right in the city center yet completely quiet. The room (comfort) and the beds were very good. We were pleasantly surprised. The attached restaurant has a charming, rustic atmosphere. A good starting point for bike tours (there's also a bike garage). Very friendly staff. We'd gladly come back.

The greeting was somewhat haughty and know-it-all; I got the impression that the lady wasn't pleased that two men were checking into a double room. But that's what private life is all about. Otherwise, everything was nice and well-maintained.

Friendly welcome, parking directly in front of the hotel, old town within easy walking distance. Service and breakfast were very good. The occasion was a one-night stay for the Würzburg Christmas market.

Convenient, central, good breakfast at a good price. The room and bathroom are small but functional. It's fine for a quick stopover. Public parking is nearby, but be careful, it's not the €6 price we were told at reception.

The rooms are quite small, and the shower and toilet are even smaller. Close to the city center; tram stop right outside the hotel.

The room was small but adequately furnished. The service was very friendly. The hotel is located very close to the city center. Everything is close by. A minor inconvenience is the lack of hotel parking, but there is an underground car park nearby.

Somehow, I still felt a real hotel charm. I liked it. The welcome was friendly and very welcoming. My bed was much too soft for my taste. The room was clean.

The rooms could use an update. But the location and the staff were great!

Very good location to the city center

This hotel was great. We were two American tourists only staying for one night. We appreciated the heat and AC in the room. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a standard European size bathroom. The breakfast had a great selection and was worth the price in our opinion. We would stay here again!

Useful hotel if you are traveling from Baden to Hessen

Very difficult to book and confirmation emails with room codes never came through so had to phone to get entry into room.

Great hotel for a stopover. Good breakfast, but no restaurant. Room and beds were fine. Small bathroom and shower.

A rather small and cozy hotel on the edge of the Main River and the old town. The city center and several sights are within walking distance. The room (327) was very clean and, in addition to the double bed, had an indoor bathroom (shower), a TV, a safe, and a small refrigerator. The staff was attentive and friendly. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of various cold cuts, cheeses, and vegan dishes. We missed the fish, but it was easily accommodated thanks to the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, and meatballs.

Private parking was not offered.

Great location, very close to the old Main Bridge and great restaurants. Breakfast was excellent. Best coffee I've had in a long time. Small parking lot right in front of the house.

Nice, spacious, and clean room. Polite and welcoming staff. The only downside is that breakfast is a bit limited, especially for those with food intolerances or vegans/vegetarians. A great experience, and it's close to the center! :)

A very friendly welcome at the reception, the room had air conditioning AND a fan. The breakfast buffet and service were excellent, and overall, the price was fair. In 2025, asking whether you really have to pay with a credit card when paying for minibar drinks unfortunately deducts a point from the B rating.

I stayed there for two nights, had my single room facing the backyard, and was able to sleep peacefully. The breakfast was standard, and I didn't miss anything.

A place very close to the center. Nice...there's a public parking lot nearby...unless you can reserve a spot in front of the hotel. The ensuite bathroom is nice...good shower.

Nice basic hotel in the heart of Würzburg. Only had a heavy traffic jam (on Friday afternoon) on the last 2.5 km. I have no idea if it's always like this or just a coincidence.

The hotel is very dated. The rooms and furnishings more than deserve a renovation. The breakfast is very good, but for €15.00, that should be expected.

I can highly recommend this hotel. I stayed in Würzburg for one night, and it was perfectly fine for that. The single room wasn't huge, but it was adequate and very clean! Check-in and check-out were also very straightforward. The location is very central to the old town. Everything you need for a one-night stay. I would book this hotel again.

Delicious breakfast buffet in a modern, rather uncomfortable room, but even here everything was very clean and the service was very friendly. The old town is within walking distance, the Main River is a 3-minute walk away, and the "old Main Bridge" offers an incredibly lively atmosphere. Wine is being drunk everywhere, either bought at the wine stand or brought from home. Young and old alike stand there, enjoying life. Music is being played, some have bass rolls with them. What a magnificent atmosphere, almost Mediterranean. Everything is peaceful, and that in this day and age, what an experience. We would come again

Very friendly staff and reception. Rooms are clean and tidy, bathroom was a bit small, but everything was there. Nice breakfast at €15 / pers and public parking garage adjacent to the hotel. Discount for hotel guests. I paid €13 for parking for 1 night. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday, but near the Dom (10 min walk) there are many places to eat.

I stayed at the Hotel Strauss for two nights, without breakfast. The room had everything you need and surprisingly comfortable beds. It's right in the heart of Würzburg. I highly recommend the hotel.

We ate here again after many years (the reason used to be training courses) and I have to say, the food is still as delicious as it used to be. We had 3 different dishes and everything was delicious and the portion size was sufficient. Staff very warm and attentive. We would love to come back

Super brilliant hotel! Rooms very clean, mattresses not worn out, NO back pain!! Top location in the center of Würzburg! Reception manned 24 hours a day, almost direct access to the Pleich car park including a discount of 13 euros per day. What more could you want!?? For us again at any time!!!

It's an old hotel so it's a bit inconvenient. Water pressure is good, but drainage is bad. The elevator is too narrow. The location is not bad and there are 8 parking spaces. Parking is difficult if you arrive late. The wifi is too slow and very inconvenient The room is not small

Very nice hotel in the German tradition, very clean, nice rooms, good bedding, quiet even though it is really in the middle of the city, 10-15 minutes on foot from the train station or right outside the door with the S-Bahn, very nice, friendly and helpful staff on site, overall a very pleasant stay - on site. It's a shame about the problems with the bills afterwards (all breakfasts were charged twice) - which can happen sometimes - but the (written) arrogance and stubbornness of the person who responded to my complaint emails ruined the whole thing for me! How can you have someone in customer service who responds so completely rudely?? The 1st time: "You (i.e. I, the customer) made a mistake! There's nothing we can do!", the 2nd email: "Bad luck! There's nothing we can do about it!" (It was described differently but that was what was meant). I had to contact a 3rd party to get my refund. A disgrace. Invoices must definitely be checked twice! (PS my job is customer service) Visit from France, mid-November 2024, professional, 2 nights 2 rooms 2 people.

We went to the restaurant for dinner with friends. The tables were set very ceremoniously. The atmosphere suits the festival. There was a varied traditional Franconian menu. The food was plentiful and excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. What more could you want?! We will now eat there more often when we are in Würzburg.

Own parking; location right in the center

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. I had a small single room on the second floor. The bed was ok, the room was clean and the bathroom was modern. For me the room was too hot (in December) and it smelled unpleasant (a mixture of football locker room and cleaning products). Breakfast was a classic buffet. Nothing special, but completely ok. The hotel is within walking distance of the city center and the train station. Due to its location in the city center, it is of course nothing as quiet as in the countryside.

It was a nice experience there. The location was just perfect for my stay.

It was impossible to sleep because every sound from the room above could be heard. Every step, the creaking of the floor – it was unbearable. I woke up irritated, and during the night, it was impossible to fall asleep due to the constant stomping overhead.

Sensational breakfast. Great location, you can see the main points of the city on foot. If you arrive by car and there is no space in front of the hotel, you can park in a public parking lot next door and pay with a good discount using the QR code at the hotel reception. Extremely kind staff, I forgot my cell phone charger and they sent it to me in another city, I thought that was great!

Great hotel for an overnight stay

On a motobin Europe trip, I stayed in this nice hotel. A girl from the staff welcomed me and she was very professional, helpful, nice and cheerful. They gave me some great advice about my stay in Wurzburg. The staff made a difference on my visit to this wonderful little town. I highly recommend it.
