We stayed here overnight. The hotel is located in a small village, but near a busy road. The room was very good. The insulation isn't great. Breakfast was good.

This intricate, somewhat dated hotel is worth a stay for one or two nights. It's located on the main street, which is nevertheless very quiet in the evenings. The service and staff are friendly, cheerful, and happy to help with any questions.

Update: There's always a special menu with changing dishes, but recently, the main menu has also included new, delicious dishes like Pollo Fino with bean cassoulet and potato strudel (see photo). A change in the food concept is also noticeable – there are more and more vegetarian dishes to please these guests. However, it's still a holistic concept combining hotel, restaurant, and butcher shop, so perhaps you shouldn't expect any vegan miracles here. The Aperol always tastes very good here and is a good example of the reasonable prices. Unlike other restaurants in the area, which now cost around €10 (!), it still costs a solid €7.50 here and still tastes great. They are generally very customer-oriented and especially child-friendly. Dogs are also allowed. There is a barrier-free entrance at the rear via the beer courtyard. There are always special offers, for example, a free children's meal for every child on the last days of school before the summer holidays; mulled wine and bratwurst at the stand during Advent; and during the long construction work on the main street, right in front of the sun, they served the "construction site schnitzel." They're always coming up with something for their guests and adapting to the times – for example, they recently added electric charging stations in the parking lot in the courtyard and a beautiful new bar in the entrance area. There's been a fitness room for hotel guests for some time now. In short: always delicious, always good. Special recommendation: The homemade fries 😋

The room was okay, very spacious. Breakfast was dissapointing. We went around 8am and there were no more croissants... How is that possible?? There were so many people that came to eat after us. You know how many guests you have, at least provide enough for everyone. It was fine for 1 night, but overall price/quality not what it should be.

An ideal hotel for an overnight stay on the way to the south. Friendly owner and staff (with an extra mention for the Asian waitress).

It was an overnight stop for us on both our outbound and return journeys to Andorra/Costa Brava with Behrens Busreisen Eutin. The service was super friendly and very thoughtful. I didn't see much of the surrounding area, as I didn't have time. The half-board at the hotel was fantastic, with products from the in-house butcher shop. I fell in love with the cooked ham.

Unfortunately, a metal clip from the wild boar sausage got into the (vegetarian) cheese spaetzle. It shouldn't have happened, but it can happen. But apart from a dry apology, there was nothing... Otherwise, the hotel was quite okay...

Five of us booked in at short notice, and we were all very happy! The rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean, and the breakfast...first-class! They also have their own butcher shop where you can buy delicious produce. The manager demonstrates and explains his passion for the business. We celebrated our wedding here and were super happy and satisfied with all the arrangements. Both the support and arrangements in advance, as well as the celebration itself, were excellent. The inner courtyard as a place for a champagne reception and coffee is highly recommended. The service staff were also extremely attentive, helpful and accompanied the day wonderfully. The dinner was very tasty, all guests were completely full and satisfied. Thank you very much, dear team from Hotel & Restaurant Sonne for this great and unforgettable wedding day!

No elevator and no outbuildings so you always have to go outside to get to breakfast or the restaurant.

Went to eat on site with a larger group, service was good and friendly, portions were plentiful and inexpensive, but unfortunately the dishes we ordered lacked flavor and were not seasoned enough, so only three stars.

Perfect for business trips. Holidaymakers may not be quite right here. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. The menu in the restaurant is good and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast seems a bit bland but it's completely ok for a week. The hotel is spread over several houses, which seems a bit haphazard but has probably grown that way historically.

We only ate here, but it was very good!

I stayed there only one night as part of a trip. We ate typical German cuisine at the restaurant, much appreciated by the diners. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. My room was a little small but clean and tidy.

Quite good. Rooms neat and clean. There were a few cobwebs and hair in the shower, but overall it was okay. Processing quickly. But the highlight is the breakfast. Really rich for 3 stars, original with its own butcher shop in the house. That would have earned 4 stars. Can therefore recommend it.

We came from Austria and were looking for a hotel, and we ended up at hotel Sonne. first impression was good, friendly staff, neat host. Rooms were very neat and a very good bed. Had a very nice meal there in the evening. We asked where we could watch football and we were taken to a very nice room with a big screen. We had a very good and organized evening. Had a good and affordable breakfast in the morning. All in all, this is highly recommended. 5 minutes from the highway. Just perfect

The employees are friendly and Mr. Kunz tries hard. The breakfast buffet offers plenty of choice. However, I will no longer book this hotel, even if it is the only one available in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area! Despite the cold temperatures at night, the heating didn't work. Even though the shower cubicle door was closed, water came out. After every shower there was a puddle in the bathroom. The WiFi didn't really work either.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. In the bathroom, water came out of the shower despite the door being closed (!!!). Shamefully, I was accused of not showering with the door locked 😂. The WiFi didn't work properly either. CONCLUSION: Even if this hotel had the last free room in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area, I wouldn't go there anymore!

A large room, little charm. The curtains were only decorative and you couldn't darken the room or protect it from views. Service was nice and breakfast was ok.

A really nice hotel with a cozy inner courtyard/beer yard. Rich breakfast buffet and really delicious food. If I'm in the region again, I'll be happy to come back.

The rooms are clean and spacious. Unfortunately we were just passing through and we were only able to enjoy dinner and breakfast once. I will remember breakfast for a long time. That was great. We can only recommend the hotel and would stay there again at any time.

Went for the asparagus menu today. Proud price of 42 euros per person, soup and salad were good, the main course was not good at all. Meat not cooked through properly, asparagus not cooked through properly, just like the potatoes. The requested salt and pepper were only brought when we had already finished eating, and if we wanted a little more sauce, it was only after the meal. Far too long waiting times between courses. The service was very attentive and friendly. In my opinion, the full inn was completely overwhelmed. My tip would be to accept fewer reservations and make the guests more satisfied. And better quality from the kitchen. When you spend so much money you should be able to expect something
