Simply great, highly recommended.

A cozy hotel with heart and attention to detail! I regularly stay at the Hotel Friesenhof in Varel and prefer to book the suite in the main building – large, bright, and wonderfully spacious. It's not overly luxurious, but that's precisely what makes it so charming: everything is designed with great attention to detail and feels very inviting and personal. The breakfast buffet is rather small, but of good quality – fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. A few additional options would be nice, but overall, the whole package is just right. A place to feel at home – quiet, friendly, and typically North German in its warmth! 🌊🏡

The hotel is very centrally located, yet parking is very good. The rooms and all the amenities are relatively new and make a good impression. The staff is friendly. We didn't really use the wellness area. The 25-degree whirlpool was the perfect place to cool off after the sauna. The room initially seemed very clean until our dog pulled a strange thong out from under the bed. We found that a bit uncomfortable.

We stayed at the Friesenhof from October 10th to 17th, 2025 (accommodation: guesthouse "Kapitänshaus")...we really enjoyed it there...the staff is very friendly and helpful...the three restaurants are great, and the food was plentiful and delicious...the entire experience in the restaurants was "top notch"...the hotel is only a few meters from the city center (pedestrian zone)...

A very nice hotel where you can easily feel at home for a few days. Clean and modern rooms, an extremely friendly and attentive staff who truly enjoy their work. Great seminar rooms and very attentive service during your event. Parking is available right around the corner from the hotel. Nothing was left to be desired. Absolutely worth a repeat stay the next time I'm in Varel!

Everything was great...especially the service. Breakfast was excellent, even for guests who didn't arrive until 9 a.m. The room was great, the mattresses were good...I'd be happy to come back.

A lovely hotel with good rooms in a beautiful central location near the weekly market. Guests can rent bicycles and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

We stayed at the Friesenhof as a family for 10 days in August. The gentleman on arrival was nice and made us feel welcome right away. The living area was very spacious, and the sofa bed was, in my opinion, high-quality and the children loved it. The separate bedroom wasn't too big but very nicely furnished. There was plenty of storage space, but the hallway lacked space for hanging coats, etc. Since everything was renovated about four years ago, the bathroom was also very clean. Overall, it was very well maintained. A family had been staying above us for the last few days, and we noticed that it could be noisy at times. Had we stayed longer, I would have complained. At breakfast, everything we needed was there. It was always replenished and checked that everything was in order. Despite the size of the hotel, it was relatively quiet and pleasantly quiet. Only on market days and on weekends was it too crowded for my liking. This was also reflected in the cleanliness of the buffet. Both restaurants in the building complex are beautifully decorated. The food always tasted great, and all at reasonable prices. I always loved the schnapps at the end. And the children also got a small juice drink at the end. For my wife's birthday, our table was beautifully set, and to toast, we were given a glass of sparkling wine on the house. And the children also got something to toast. Almost all of the staff were very nice, and thanks to Nico. He was very child-friendly. My children loved him. The cleaning staff also tried very hard. Only one new cleaner wasn't quite up to it yet. But if something was missing, it was immediately brought to the room within 5 minutes. I was only a little disappointed when I left. It felt like I got the bill, paid, and said "bye." I thought that was a bit of a shame. There's no question about whether we enjoyed it or anything like that. I found the lady "Frisian cool." All in all, we would go back. Very good value for money these days. We felt very comfortable. Thanks to the team!

Beautiful hotel, easy parking across the street, the rooms look very modern and, above all, clean. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and there was a wide selection. UNFORTUNATELY, we have to deduct one star because our room, room 100, was in such an inconvenient location that the fan outside the window was running constantly, and there was a loud additional fan downstairs when the kitchen was in use. The room stank so terribly of food. In the evenings, it smelled of cooking at dinnertime, and from 5 a.m. onward, the smell of cooking was so strong that we got up at 6 a.m. because we couldn't stand it anymore! The entire hallway stinks in the evenings.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and lovingly furnished. We were also impressed by the extensive breakfast buffet, which leaves little to be desired. The hotel's location is also very good: quiet, yet central. The wellness area is also beautifully designed and was very clean at all times. There are plenty of free parking spaces available outside the hotel. Upon request and for an additional charge, you can also get a parking space in the underground garage. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We will definitely recommend the hotel and look forward to returning ourselves!

This was our second time at the Hotel Friesenhof. Beautiful rooms, a fantastic selection from an excellent menu. What we ordered was incredibly delicious. And the best part is, the entire staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful at all times. Thank you so much for everything. We will definitely be back.

Yes...very friendly and helpful staff...spontaneously managed to get an overnight stay Friday/Saturday without any problems...very good value for money...also the room/bed...everything was very well equipped, and the breakfast buffet from 8-11:30 a.m. was very extensive and good... Very nice hotel, centrally located, excellent breakfast buffet, new and very pleasantly decorated rooms. Free parking is available 100 meters from the hotel. You can park directly in front of the hotel while unloading your luggage. The entire staff was always friendly and helpful. I would book this hotel again anytime.

Overall, we found the hotel very nice. The rooms are very spacious and renovated, but they feel very empty and not particularly comfortable. The sauna/spa area, however, was beautifully furnished and worth a visit. We also appreciated the fact that they issued a parking ticket for the town and the discounts for visiting the beach in Dangast. We were negatively impressed by the service in the hotel. Aside from the friendly reception staff, the employees simply lacked a sense of service. At breakfast, the bar staff gossiped about their colleagues while guests were present. On a Thursday evening, there were no seats available in the restaurants due to the town festival. The staff's response: "Why don't you try somewhere else in town?" As hotel guests, we would have expected at least some advance warning that two of the three restaurants would be closed that day, and the last one was fully booked. Especially after a busy day, you don't want to attend the festival outside the hotel. Another employee then rudely shooed us out of the bar area during the party, saying he couldn't leave us alone with alcohol nearby. We didn't even know which areas we were allowed to be in and were immediately sent away as if we had sneaked in without permission. So, after being indirectly accused of theft, our mood was ruined.

A very nice and well-maintained hotel on the market square. I was able to spend several weeks here for business and would definitely return for pleasure.

Were here over New Year's Eve. Very nice, modern apartment. Very large and always very well cleaned. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. New Year's Eve buffet was nothing. Sorry but for the price it could be better. Poorly arranged. Tables had to be in groups for the buffet. Took a very long time. New Year's brunch was good. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Staff here top.

The food and service here is top notch, the price is absolutely justified, great, delicious cuisine, and great service. I can't rate the room because we were only here to eat, so only 3 stars

I use the hotel very often for work and everything fits. Rooms in the main building are modern, service is top and the location is central. The wellness area is also very good and the adjacent restaurants in the hotel are of a high standard.

I can't give any information about the room and room service. But for food and service in the Friesehof restaurant. I've been there twice now and both times were simply wonderful evenings. I found the food here to be of a high standard. A small but very good menu. Since my wife is not good at separating fish, she asked if it would be possible to fillet it. The chef was happy to do this and the fish was bone-free. If we want to eat something special and good, we would be happy to come back.

We really liked it at the Friesenhof. We were there for a weekend and booked the junior suite. It was more of a large double room, but modernly furnished, very spacious and very clean. Also great: WiFi and Smart TV with full functionality! The room also had a small balcony. We particularly liked the small but nice wellness area with two saunas, loungers and whirlpool. The only disappointment: at 7:30 p.m. there were no more fresh towels and drinking glasses. It wasn't refilled either, a shame. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice. The service here was also extremely good. Always friendly and very attentive. Also good: there is a compartment for bicycles in the underground car park. Batteries can also be charged there, which was great.

I did not make it there (fell ill) but the reservation process and all questions like late check out were handled super friendly. And when I had to cancel at short notice they were still super friendly and did not charge anything. Thank you! I hope I will make it some other time ...

I have been to this hotel several times. Friendly helpful staff. The rooms in the main building have been renovated and functionally furnished. Rich breakfast. The only thing that upset me was that the towels in the rooms were changed every day. I had pointed out several times that I didn't need a new towel every day. The reception took note of this but somehow it didn't reach housekeeping. There seems to be an internal communication problem.

Very good hotel in the middle of the city center, nice rooms, although a second armchair/chair in the double room would have been nice. The great breakfast (very inexpensive) more than makes up for it. Free parking in the immediate vicinity is of course included. And the employees: always friendly and approachable. Always recommended! On the last evening the fridge broke. Boss personally installed another one immediately. (+++) then had to listen to an inappropriate comment: “It’s actually only for the minibar” (= 2 small mineral waters). And we had included a small purchase of fish (well packaged) for home. I found something wrong. ( - - ). Nevertheless, the positive evaluation of the employees remains!

So the hotel is to my taste. And the food in the restaurant… very, very successful. Philipp, our waiter in charge today really gave his all. The food… real, great, spicy and noble. I have to praise you. Great quality and very cool atmosphere. Go on like this . And don't give a damn about the typical village pub former drinking fans... if something goes so smoothly, you've done everything right. Thank you very much . 😊 Greetings Michel

Only been there for the seminar. What was presented there was great. Coffee, fruit, cold drinks, everything was available. Lunch, with a choice of 3 main courses, was also very good. Again and again...

We visited the restaurant. The food deserves an award; terrific. The atmosphere is modern but not cool. And now to the service staff: Well-dressed service staff (white shirt and black suit trousers...no sneakers!!) serve professionally at the table. Our service specialist wore white gloves when serving the dishes. I'm a fan of good table manners. Summary: upscale.

We stayed in the hotel for 1 week with our wedding party. The wedding reception took place in the Neumärker restaurant. Every wish was fulfilled, the service staff were all very attentive without exception and fulfilled every special request. The rooms were always clean, the breakfast buffet was very rich. We are very, very satisfied all around and it certainly wasn't our last visit to the Friesenhof

We stayed at the hotel for a week for our wedding. The rooms were well equipped, very clean and comfortable. All employees were incredibly friendly, very customer-oriented and listened to our every need. I have to make a particularly positive mention of Noah, who served our wedding party and served us in the restaurant on a few evenings. It is precisely because of you that I give the Friesenhof 10 out of 10 with a star. Our stay was perfect, the hospitality was outstanding. We felt and felt like we were with friends. A clear recommendation to stay here and let yourself be pampered in the hotel and restaurants. We will definitely come back to enjoy the Friesenhof and the great surroundings.

It's been my go-to hotel for years now when I'm traveling to the far north on business. I'm happy to take a 30 or 40 km detour to spend the night there. Super nice staff, good cuisine, great rooms.

wir haben mit 10 Personen ein supertolles Silvester/Neujahr-Wochenende verbracht. Alles war top organisiert, das Essen und die Getränke waren sehr lecker, es war alles sehr sauber, nettes Personal (besonders Noah), tolle Deko usw. usw. Ein schönes Hotel. Doch im Restaurant gab es leider nur eine spärliche Auswahl (Jahreszeitenabhgig). Das, was es gab war jedoch meist lecker.

Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich. Die Zimmer sind sauber. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig mit einer Vielzahl von Gerichten.

Leckeres Essen und dadurch schöne Familienfeier. Sehr nette und aufmerksame Bedienung! Immer wieder gerne!

Absolut außergewöhnliches gutes Hotel mit viel Liebe im Detail! Wirklich alles ist mit sehr viel Geschmack eingerichtet. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis vor allem durch die Freundlichkeit Sauberkeit und die wunderschöne Wellness Anlage als Zugabe ist unbedingt hervorzuheben. Ich freue mich, dass es uns wieder gelungen ist, 32 Musiker des Barockorchesters Elbipolis und 4 Solisten im Hotel Friesenhof unterzubringen. Die Musiker lobten u. a. die Zimmer, das Frühstück und die Freundlichkeit des Personals.

Ein insgesamt gutes Hotel für einen Kurzurlaub. Wir haben uns mit unseren Kindern wohlgefühlt. Die Zimmer waren extrem sauber! Mit dem Auto kann man in der Umgebung viel erkunden! 4-5Tö Tage reichen meiner Meinung nach, danach könnte es langweilig werden. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr lecker und abends konnte man im Restaurant auch köstlich speisen. Einzig und allein im Bett haben wir nicht ganz so gemütlich geschlafen (Luxusprolem)! Die Kissen waren gar nicht gut! Die Putzkraft hat unser Zimmer jeden Tag gesäubert. Vielen Dank! Von uns gibt es eine klare Empfehlung!

Ich bin schon seit einigen Jahren immer wieder Gast in diesem Haus und bin jedes mal aufs neue begeistert, das Haus nun schon seit einigen Jahren in die neue Zeit geführt. Toll wie sich hier alles erneuert hat und die Freundlichkeit und die gute Küche unverändert sehr gut geblieben ist.

Zentral gelegenes Hotel. Das Zimmer ist modern/neu eingerichtet, bodentiefe Dusche, alles sauber. Das dazugehörige Restaurant Neumärker ist zu empfehlen. Sehr angenehmes Personal.. Komme gerne wieder..

Wir waren letzte Woche mit unserem Triumph Sprinter Forum zu Gast im Friesenhof. Einquartiert waren wir im Kapitänshaus welches schräg gegenüber liegt. Zimmer nach vorne war schön, und sauber. Samstags könnte es morgens Probleme mit Lärm geben, wenn der Wochenmarkt stattfindet. Wir haben uns dennoch sehr wohl gefühlt. Personal war sehr freundlich und das Essen wirklich lecker. Frühstücksbuffet war sehr reichhaltig und ließ keine Wünsche offen. Aufgrund der Auslastung an diesem Wochenende, scheint es ein sehr beliebtes Hotel zu sein. Wir sagen Dankeschön und kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren dort Essen und das ist sehr empfehlenswert. Fünf Sterne dafür. Netter und aufmerksames Personal.

Auch dieses Mal wieder im Haupthaus eine Suite gebucht. Diese lag dieses Mal im 3. Obergeschoss und war wie beim letzten Mal gut ausgestattet. Dieses Mal hatte das Bad kein Außenfenster, was aber nicht sonderlich schlimm war. Da wir gerne bei gekippten Fenster schlafen, war es von der Strasse her etwas leider lauter - aber noch OK. Das Frühstücksbuffet war jetzt besser als beim letzten Mal. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal

Die Fleisch- und Fischspeisen waren von guter Qualität. Das Preis./ Leistungsverhältnis ist ok. Bei schönen Wetter kann man draußen am ruhigen Marktplatz sitzen.

Auf einer Radtour haben wir kurzfristig gebucht. Wie beschrieben sind die Zimmer renovierungsbedürftig - aber sauber. Für den aufgerufenen Preis würde ich wieder buchen. Das Restaurant Essen war angenehm deftig und sehr ordentlich. Der Service abends „friesisch herb“ und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist okay, alles was man so braucht ist da.

Rundum zufrieden :-) Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt und die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Ich habe mich wohl gefühlt & auch mein extra Wunsch wurde berücksichtigt.

Auf der Durchreise haben wir den Frieden of besucht. Die Lage ist recht hübsch. Das Ambiente ist etwas veraltet aber insgesamt sehr angenehm. Die einzige Service Kraft war sehr freundlich und schnell, ausser uns waren aber auch kaum Gäste anwesend. Wir hatten Spargel und Matjes. Qualität und Geschmack der Speisen war ok, aber gerade mal Durchschnitt. Die Bratkartoffeln waren sehr fettig und wenig kross. Der Matjes war zart aber etwas zu intensiv im Geschmack. Mit z.B. Glückstädter nicht vergleichbar. Der Spargel war einwandfrei, aber die Hollandaise war Fertigwaren - bei 19,50 € für den Spargel + 8,50 für den Schinken darf das nicht sein! Fazit: Service: Gut Speisen: Befriedigend Ambiente: Befriedigend Preis/Leistung: nur knapp ausreichend

Wir wollten unserem Besuch etwas Gutes tun,darum hatte ich uns das Restaurant ausgesucht.Aber leider waren wir hinterher alle enttäuscht. Die Schweinefilet waren so winzig und das Gemüse dazu kaum gewürzt,die Bratkartoffeln schmecken wie aufgewärmt und waren teilweise verbrannt.Aber was ich bei den Preisen unmöglich fand ,dass die Soße Bernaise die zu dem Filet und zum Spargel serviert wurde aus der Packung kam,was sehr deutlich zu schmecken war.Was uns auch sehr gestört hat,es wurde nur Spargel mit Schinken angeboten,wenn man Fleisch dazu haben wollte musste dies Extra bestellt werden. Na ja ,aber das dies Fleisch dann noch mal wieder so teuer war ,dass man bei einem Gesamtpreis von fast 30,- € gelegen hätte.Um es offen zu sagen wir können dieses Restaurant nicht empfehlen.Obwohl Muttertag war und alle Restaurants ausgebucht waren,war dieses in den zwei Stunden die wir uns dort aufhielten leer .Für die Preise konnte man schon etwas Besseres erwarten

Das Restaurant im Friesenhof bietet eine gute, solide Küche. Die Speisen sind gut und ansprechend angerichtet. Ich habe den Matjes probiert und es war sehr lecker. Der Service ist überaus freundlich. Aber leider etwas langsam, da sich eine Person um alles kümmern muss.

Tolles Hotel, wohl etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber dennoch schön sauber und ordentlich. Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer und sehr sehr gutes Frühstück. Der Spabereich ist ebenfalls ganz niedlich, am Wochenende aber zu voll und leider etwas unruhig. Was mich stört, und dabei geht es mir ums Prinzip, ist, dass man pro Tag fürs Parken 1,50€ bezahlt. Das ist, als würde man im Restaurabt den Teller bezahlen...für mich vollkommen unverständlich und das sollte in dem doch gehobenen Preis inbegriffen sein. Personal sehr freundlich, kommen gerne wieder. Wie es aussah auch sehr gut für Hunde geeignet, direkt am See und 🌳.

Wir wurden freundlich von zwei jungen Damen begrüßt und das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir hatten 1x Seelachs in einer Dillsoße mit Salzkartoffeln und Beilagensalat. Mein Freund hatte eine gefüllte Zuchini mit Tomatensoße und Salat. Beide Gerichte haben sehr lecker geschmeckt und ich würde sie auch ein zweites mal bestellen. Denn Hunden wurde gleich zu Beginn Wasser gebracht, es wir sehr freundlich fanden. Auch die Atmosphäre war ruhig und entspannt.
