Having worked up a bit of an appetite from our stroll, we spontaneously ended up at the Hotel Café Post. Even though we arrived just before they closed, we were still served a Strammer Max and a delicious Spundekäs. With a great view and very welcoming hosts, you really feel at home there. We'd love to come back :)

Unfortunately, there are still people here who are bursting with envy and begrudge us our success. And thus want to ruin the real reviews written here. The rooms are priced so that no one can complain. They are renovated bit by bit during the winter months. The prices are then adjusted accordingly. We took over the business during the high season and cannot close poorly booked rooms, including those with regular guests, to renovate them. The food is sensational: homemade cakes from master baker Hans, a fresh snack menu, and the front-row view of the Rhine is priceless. The breakfast exceeds garni standards. The staff is friendly and always in a good mood. You also have to keep in mind that it has to be in proportion to the room price. If someone books a double room for around €45 per person, they can't expect to get a breakfast worth €20 per person—that should be obvious to everyone. But as you can see, that's not the case. The standards some people expect here aren't reflected in the price-performance ratio. Then you'll have to rent a room at Papa Rhein for €200-300 a night. With us, you get a sensational, front-row view of the Rhine, clean rooms, a friendly atmosphere, and if anyone has anything to say, please contact us directly and not with a fake account on Google. A truly charming hotel where you immediately feel welcome and at home. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; you can feel the passion that goes into making this place. The food is delicious, fresh, and prepared with love, and the cakes are simply heavenly! Every bite tastes like true dedication. A place we can only recommend; we'd love to come back. 💛

This hotel is a complete nightmare. Pure 60s charm, comfort is completely unknown! I advise everyone to stay away. The reviews reflect pure wishful thinking. Unfortunately, the reality is different!

~Vintage Romance Right on the Rhine River~ This beautiful old hotel is nestled between vineyards and castles, directly on the banks of the Rhine and the boat docks. The terrace, overlooking Rheinstein Castle, invites you to enjoy fresh coffee specialties, homemade cakes, and smaller delicacies like "Yvonne's Favorite Sausage Salad." Sitting under a leafy canopy is a pleasant experience even on hot days. We had a very large corner room with an equally large bathroom. From the seating area, you could wonderfully watch the passing ships, and the castle glowed in a beautiful light in the evening. Pure romance! On the other side, you could enjoy a view of one of the many vineyards. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. There was even a small refrigerator and a fan in the room. The hotel has its very special "vintage charm." We spent a wonderful weekend with extremely warm and animal-loving hosts who recently took over the hotel. For the future, we wish Markus & Yvonne many new guests who fall in love with the house and the area just as we did ♡. We would love to return here as friends. Best, Marion, Sascha & dog Tobi

The hotel recently had new owners. Markus, Yvonne, and their fantastic team anticipate almost every (special) request from their guests' lips. Friendly, courteous, and helpful. You feel genuinely welcome. The breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade curry sauce, although that's not really my thing for breakfast. Highly recommended 👍

An absolute highlight: a new, accommodating, and very friendly owner. Dog-friendly, and more than fair value. The breakfast is basic (cereal, sausage, cheese, scrambled eggs, etc.) with everything included, including coffee and juice. No frills, no extra fuss; there was even almond milk – we really have to praise that. We were spontaneously looking for a simple breakfast in the morning, with a beautiful view. The hotel has retained its 1950s charm in a sophisticated style. Other guests who stayed there also spoke highly of the hotel. We hope it stays around for a long, long time. One of the few unique hotels in the Rheingau!

The hotel recently underwent new ownership. Our concerns about older, critical reviews were therefore fortunately unfounded. We received a very friendly welcome, and the service was extremely warm and accommodating. The rooms are in classic "Rheingau vintage style." However, for the price, it was perfectly acceptable, and everything was very clean. We had a room facing the Rhine with a beautiful view, and we could easily sleep with the window open. Breakfast was also decent. There was a small buffet with fresh scrambled eggs, bacon, and various cold cuts. Parking was easy in a free lot around the corner. The train station is just a few steps away, so we were able to take the train to Rüdesheim in the evening. Overall, it was a very nice stay. We would love to come back!

Since June 2025, the hotel has been under new management – ​​a well-known artist couple has taken over, and this has had a positive impact in every respect. The old reviews about service, etc., no longer apply, because everything has truly changed. The hotel is beautifully situated directly on the Rhine, with a fantastic panoramic terrace. The new hosts run the hotel with a lot of heart, personality, and incredibly friendly service. You are welcomed here like you would by good friends: warm, open, and with genuine hospitality. We had our child and dog with us – they have rarely been so warmly looked after. The breakfast is generous and fresh, with something for everyone. The rooms are very clean. We are already looking forward to returning soon, once the planned renovations are complete. Everything will be beautiful (again) – you can already feel it. Highly recommended!

Top location, you can relax well after a hard day at work. There wasn't much going on during the week, but the peace and quiet was worth its weight in gold. Slept well and was fit again at the weekend.

Really bad service, Cake and coffee inedible. When asked if he could agree on the price because the cake was rancid, he tried the cake with his hands and licked his fingers and still asked for the full price.

Eight of us came here on Sunday for coffee and cake. When asked, we pushed two tables together outside ourselves. Half sat in the shade, the other half in the blazing sun. There were no cards, instead we were asked what we wanted. I had a cappuccino that tasted like more milk than coffee. Since I can't tolerate lactose, I asked for plant milk. Only from Emma, ​​was the answer, without regret and I was still wondering whether there was milk made from emmer now... The cheesecake was more curd and crumbly. My friend's coffee was probably very bad and there was something black floating in the milk jug. We paid more than we thought (we didn't have a card) and when we got home we noticed that one drink was overcharged! Price-performance ratio is not good anyway and then something like that. As we left, cards were placed on the table for the family after us. I don't think they wanted us to come back. Card payment not possible.

Despite the beautiful location, unfortunately the service is unfriendly and completely disappointing and shows no flexibility. There are hardly any vegetarian options and, upon request, it was not possible to simply adapt the options to include meat.

How can you treat friendly customers so rudely and arrogantly?

The owner was very unfriendly when I wanted to buy cake to take away from him.

I had lunch there, a coffee, and a piece of cherry crumble for dessert. The salad and salad dressing were also very tasty, with well-chosen ingredients and a very lean meat. An older gentleman served me very friendly. The price is really reasonable. I also really enjoyed the coffee. The silverware exudes a special charm. Very cozy and wonderfully antique, nostalgic decor. This café is highly recommended. Definitely 5 stars.

We stopped here after a long hike and didn't regret it. My coffee was good and the cheesecake was very tasty, juicy and homemade. The prices were appropriate. We sat outside and enjoyed it. Thank you very much for that, we'll be happy to come back.

We once again stayed at this hospitable establishment for a week in late summer 2024. We felt very comfortable: a beautiful house with plenty of charm and charisma, dedicated hosts who impressed us with their friendliness, diligence, and kindness, the double room was always kept clean with a direct view of the Rhine and the castle, functionally furnished, the room, staircase, and dining room were decorated with beautiful oil paintings that impressively convey the romantic Rhine atmosphere of several places in the Middle Rhine Valley, and a rich, varied, and excellent breakfast. In short: a successful short vacation, as always, thanks to a family business currently experiencing personal worries and hardships, who nevertheless cared for our well-being with constant dedication and diligence! Thank you very much for that.

Particularly beautiful surroundings. Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Very friendly owner. Extensive well-cared for breakfast. Dinner is also possible and is definitely recommended. Especially on the terrace with a wonderful view of the Rhine. Prices aren't too bad.

We stayed at this property for two nights on September 24th. I'll try to summarize briefly: Furnishings are ancient, no slatted frame but a board under the thin, completely sagging mattress. Only 2 sockets in the whole room, one of them by the bed. There is a busy railway line behind the house, due to the lack of air conditioning you have to leave the window open at night, there is constant train traffic. The restaurant was constantly closed. The bathtub was so high that it is not easy for older people to get out. We wouldn't book there again. But it was reasonably clean!!! Beds are a disaster!!!

Pay close attention to which room you book, with Check 24 you can use other providers. We booked a cheap room with a private bathroom, according to the description. We got a Stone Age hole with a Stone Age bathroom in the hallway that we had to share with 4 double rooms 😣

Unfortunately the cafe was pretty bad. Cola 0.4 costs €6 and the cake is so small that it's just not worth it.

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Cafe Post. The room was comfortable, with a wonderful view of the River. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were helpful and there was no trouble in communication. Thank you!

We stayed overnight at the Hotel Post with a JGA of 9 women. In the evening we sat together in one of the rooms talking and listening to music. Suddenly, shortly before midnight, the door opened, a man stormed into the room and shouted that we should "shut up". The gentleman was the hotel owner, who didn't contact us in advance about the volume or anything else. He stood directly above two of our women who were lying in bed and screamed at one of them. When he left the room he looked at us and said goodbye with the words "your bedroom...". The way he behaved towards us, what he said and the crossing of boundaries just to get into the room are completely out of the question and I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here.

Like traveling back in time to another era 😁

The only drawback is the railway behind the hotel.

If you would like to travel back in time to the 18th century, this is the place for you. The hotel is getting old. If I hunt down my food, it will be on the table quicker. In addition, you are woken up at 7:00 a.m. by the host with a leaf blower. There was a strong smell of Orin outside our room.

The food there is absolutely delicious and the owner is very friendly. We recommend.

Einwandfreies Hotel um von dort aus die Region zu erkunden. Sessellift, Schiffsanleger und Bahnhof sind allesamt in unmittelbarer Umgebung. Die Zimmer selbst sind sauber, aber einrichtungstechnisch in den 1980'ern stehen geblieben. Eben ein besonderer Charme. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls tadellos, auch auf die besonderen Wünsche unserer mitreisenden Veganer wurde eingegangen.
