The food was incredibly delicious, the portions very generous, and we all went home full and satisfied. The restaurant itself is also impressive – both inside and out, everything is tastefully decorated, with atmospheric lighting and an atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Highly recommended!

Extremely delicious, cozy and super friendly

Fantastic service, entertaining waiters (especially the blonde young lady), and delicious food. The special offer of a schnitzel for €12 is a rare find these days. In summer, the outdoor area is recommended. Children can enjoy their creative arts by painting.

We only ate here, not stayed overnight! The Swabian plate and the Thai curry were excellent. Very fair prices. Very good service.

Unfortunately, the salad and mini spring rolls (the new ones, which aren't actually that mini) weren't that good. Spicy food wasn't marked.

I was there today with two children. I had an excellent red Thai curry, and the kids loved their nuggets and fries. The plates were empty. That says it all. We were served quickly and very friendly. The atmosphere in the beer garden is so lovely, and I think they also serve curries! It's great that there's something like this in Birkach.

A superb and well-maintained restaurant and hotel, with super attentive and friendly service. The food is a true delight and very plentiful. You can taste the quality and love the chef puts into every meal ♥️ We drove here all the way from Schwaikheim and we love it.

An insider tip!!! The food is truly incredible, no matter what I've tried so far! You can feel the freshness and, above all, the quality of the dishes! The kitchen is truly a masterpiece! It's truly rare to experience something so fresh and fabulously prepared, all for a reasonable price these days! Thank you so much for hosting our family celebration so beautifully. The tables were beautifully set, and there was plenty of shade in today's beautiful weather. All of our guests loved the food. The service was attentive and accommodated all of our special requests. We would love to come back.

We ate on the large terrace as part of a family celebration. Good menu, fair prices, and acceptable portions. We'd be happy to go again.

We weren't staying at the "hotel"; we sat in the garden restaurant that evening. There were only three other guests in the entire restaurant, meaning the place was sparsely attended. For dinner, we ordered, among other things, cheese spaetzle with salad. The salad was dressed with too much vinegar, but otherwise nicely presented. The spaetzle were inedible. It was a single, sticky mess that tasted of nothing. I had to leave half of it because I didn't like it. The young waitress politely asked for feedback, because you learn from it. But if you don't know how to cook properly, then feedback is of little use, that's my opinion. As a restaurant, you think you can charge the same price for a dish as other restaurants, regardless of the quality and preparation. But this time, I really have to say, this meal might be enough for the students living nearby (although they deserve good food too), but then the price would have to be adjusted significantly. For such a sticky mess as these cheese spaetzle, you shouldn't be allowed to charge €16, but a maximum of €8. The alternative: close the restaurant. Of course, we still gave the waitress a good tip. It's not her fault. P.S. The food sat heavy in my stomach all night. This used to be a good Greek restaurant. The owner changed, and unfortunately, so did the quality. This wasn't our first time here, but unfortunately, this will be our last. Unfortunately, I have to say that the owner's response to my review is incorrect. The waitress asked us if everything was okay. I then explained that the cheese spaetzle were a complete mess, completely sticky and flavorless. The waitress apologized and thanked me for the feedback. I still gave the waitress a €5 tip because she did a good job. I understand that the owner writes that all the other customers are satisfied. However, he should take the feedback to heart, improve the kitchen, and work on satisfying every customer.

From my personal experience, I can't understand the many negative reviews. I stayed at the hotel for three nights on business and also had dinner there in the evening. First, the negative: the parking situation isn't ideal, it's just outside Stuttgart, but the few meters walk are worth it. The rooms are clean and equipped with everything you need, the Wi-Fi is very good, the bed is comfortable, there's a flat-screen TV, a desk, a bathroom (also clean), and additional storage space in the single room. The restaurant offers a large outdoor area and a few indoor seats with a pleasant ambiance and chill-out music at a pleasant volume. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and we were served quickly. Even the wait for the starters and the food was hardly worth mentioning, as there was practically no wait at all. The food was a Swabian-Asian mix of delicacies. I had the mozzarella sticks with a delicious sweet and sour dip with a slightly spicy twist and the rump steak with herb butter and fries. The portion size is good, really good. I really struggled with the perfect "well-done" rump steak and crispy fries. The steak was not only well-done, but also so tender that the herb butter wasn't really needed; the walk back to the car eases your conscience after the delicious meal. The pricing is absolutely justified for the service provided and is comparable to current restaurant prices. I have one more critical point: the mozzarella sticks are listed under "salad" on the menu, which I don't really care about; I just wanted to get the chronically choleric people on board. If you're in the Stuttgart area, go to Birkach; it's worth it.

I can only recommend the food. Absolutely top quality. The staff are very friendly and extremely attentive and know everything about the menu. Just ask and they will recommend the right thing. The chef...2 absolutely perfect, always happy to go back. THANK YOU Rainer M

I had mixed feelings about my stay at VAU. The accommodation is very clean and everything is available for a relaxing overnight stay. I can't say anything about the restaurant because we weren't served. The staff walked past a few times but didn't respond or bother to take the order. But you can sit comfortably. Maybe you could have eaten your own food? We immediately received friendly service in the restaurant opposite.

When I entered the room I immediately noticed that the bed was very poorly made. You probably didn't show it to the maid properly. Bathroom toilet seat very loose, you have to be careful not to fall when wiping your innermost parts. The maid should have noticed if she had cleaned the toilet bowl properly. But deep down there are coarse deposits. The biggest hammer of all, 9 degrees outside, bathroom well ventilated, that's fine. However, I would have liked to take a shower after the long drive. I missed the heater in the bathroom. You have to be very hardy to take a shower in a cold bathroom. Perhaps this is intended to reduce water consumption. Red mold in the shower, yuck. It probably hasn't been cleaned in a while. Cleanliness generally leaves a lot to be desired. Conclusion: they won't see me again.

After dragging my suitcase to the third floor, as there is no elevator, I was once again badly surprised! On the homepage it says that all double rooms have a bathroom. However, it didn't say that the budget double rooms all share a dirty shared bathroom! The room smelled bad and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. And there was hair in my towel (not mine). Pictures of the bathroom attached. So please keep your eyes open everyone

I just checked in and can already say that I will never come back. First they make me wait for almost an hour, even though I was promised that I could check in at 4 p.m., and then I find a completely dirty (shared) bathroom. The room with a shared bathroom was only booked because the homepage says that all double rooms have a private bathroom, and only the small print on booking.com says that the budget double rooms have a shared bathroom. I cannot and will not recommend this hotel!

Traditional swabian dishes, large portions enough for two on reasonable price.

We had dinner in Vau with a larger group. Nice location, comfortable chairs outside. The service staff was friendly and the cuisine was very good.

We had an impromptu dinner for 10 when friends came into town. The service was super and the food was great!

No guests there although the restaurant is comfortably furnished. 0.1 Red wine could not be ordered, only 0.2. Food seems like a ready meal, salmon wasn't cooked well and is way too expensive. It's really a shame, as it's well located in the heart of Birkach.

The hotel is a properly renovated old house, the welcome is good, the location is a little noisy due to a road that is very busy at night. Black point: the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, the shower tray was filthy and not properly cleaned for several days, the cleaning was poorly done, we made this point to the manager.

There's an extensive menu. We tried Swabian cuisine as well as a Thai dish and were very satisfied with everything. The price/performance ratio was also good. The service was very attentive and friendly. We highly recommend it!

At 120 euros per night you should be able to expect more. Breakfast is not offered. The reception is only staffed during restaurant opening times. The room has largely been modernized, although unfortunately they didn't manage to install a suitable toilet lid, which is also so loosely attached that you practically float on the porcelain. Outside restaurant hours you can only stay in your own room. There is no foyer or other seating in this hotel.

I had booked a double room for three nights in advance, but was only given a single room for the first night because everything was fully booked. Of course I still had to pay the full price for the double room. On the day of my departure, I discovered clothes under the duvet in the bed that I hadn't used that the guests before me had obviously forgotten, which implies that the bed linen had neither been cleaned nor changed! This is absolutely not possible! Since the reception isn't open until 5 p.m., there was of course no one there in the morning that I could turn to. I can only recommend everyone to look for another hotel where more emphasis is placed on hygiene.

Top service / top food / top prices

Overall, the Hotel VAU is a recommendable, small hotel if you can live with a few compromises. The rooms are modernized, but quite small. Unfortunately there are no fly screens on the windows, but there were a lot of mosquitoes that wanted to get in, which unfortunately wasn't conducive to ventilation. The mattresses on the beds are great, unfortunately the pillows were very voluminous, but that's a matter of taste. You can drink a few beers in the modern, high-quality restaurant, but unfortunately I can't recommend cocktails. Overall, I would visit the hotel again if I have anything to do at the university again.

We had lunch on the terrace on the holiday. The food came quickly and was just as delicious as last year! However, the staff was much friendlier, very nice! I have one small suggestion...the prices are completely reasonable for the quality and size of the portions. However, the portions are really huge and difficult for some people to eat. Maybe it would be possible to offer small portions at a reduced price? Maybe the prices sometimes scare off a new customer who hasn't tried it yet....? We will definitely come back!

I came with a friend for lunch. We wanted to see what was new. It is stylish, but still comfortably furnished. We chose spaghetti Bolognese and the baked potato with salad. Since I was very hungry, I ordered another side salad. This was the highlight for me as a vegetarian. Lovingly prepared with sprouts. I would like to highlight the excellent and attentive service. We were even allowed to look at a room. There is rarely such trust. It makes you want more. We will definitely enjoy the food on offer one evening.

In the salad with champions there were a few champions and a lot of green salad. A little more diversity would be good.

Brilliant restaurant!! The VAU is not only a visual feast for the eyes, but also offers excellent service and food of a very high standard. Overall package really 5 out of 5 stars. We will be back. PS: The cocktail bar is also excellent and invites you to have a drink after work. :)

Sehr gemütlich sauber und sehr freundlich

Wir waren heute hier essen und hatten auch großen Hunger mitgebracht. Das Ambiente ist ganz toll. Sehr bequeme Stühle und Sitzbänke, schön stilvoll Eingerichtet, entspannte und ruhige Musik. Der Service war sehr gut. Wir wurden schnell bedient und gut beraten. Auch sehr individuelle Wünsche waren kein Problem. Das Essen kam schnell und war wirklich lecker. Wir haben zwei Schnitzel und einmal Frühlingsrollen bestellt. Das Hähnchenschnitzel war sehr Zart und die Panade hatte eine gute Konsistenz. Die Pommes waren auch optimal, außen schön knusprig und innen leicht weich. Wirklich lecker. Die Portionen sind sehr groß, die Preise dementsprechend auch absolut in Ordnung. Einziges kleines Manko ist die etwas schwierige Parkplatz Situation. Mittags war das kein Problem, abends könnte das sicher etwas schwieriger werden. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und werden wieder kommen, wenn sich die Möglichkeit ergibt.

Zufällig hier gelandet, da ausgerechnet zur Essenszeit bei uns der Strom ausfiel - Gott sei Dank, denn das Essen war sensationell gut. Mein Enten-Curry war scharf, aber nicht zu scharf, die Ente zart - einfach lecker. Das SchniPoSa meines Mannes war auch sehr gut - mit den weltbesten Pommes ever! Wir werden gerne wieder kommen!

Liebes VAU Team gestern durfte ich meinen Geburtstag bei wunderschönem Wetter in Eurem Biergarten feiern. Das Essen war sehr frisch zubereitet. Von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert alle waren begeistert.Jeder kam auf seine Kosten. Weiter so. Der Abend war sehr gelungen. Mein herzlicher Dank.

Leckeres Essen, gut schwäbisch und Thai. Beides sehr hochwertig und lecker. Die eine Bedienung war offensichtlich neu (kippt ein Glas um und sagt nur "Huch"), aber wir kommen gern wieder

Hatte die Möglichkeit verschiedene Essen zu probieren, kann nur sagen es war alles seeeehr gut. Einfach vorbeikommen und selber testen. Es lohnt sich. Preis Leistung super.

Waren zum Essen da,Essen war sehr gut

Wir waren dort zum Abendessen. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm und das Personal ist gut. Leider gibt es nur genau eine vegane Alternative (einen Flammkuchen) und auch nur sehr wenige vegetarische Gerichte. Ich werde daher wohl nicht wieder kommen, außer die Karte erweitert sich. Für mich war etwas sehr viel Soße am Salat aber der Salat hat gut geschmeckt. Ich hatte den mit Ziegenkäse.

Wir haben 80 Minuten auf das Essen gewartet.Zumindest an diesem Tag war die Mannschaft kpl.überfordert.

War heute Abend mit meiner Frau essen. Schöner Biergarten mit Sofaeck zum chillen. Bequeme Stühle, außer man will essen, da sind sie nicht so geeignet, da man nach hinten etwas tief sitzt, es sei denn, man ist 2 Meter groß. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich. Das Essen geschmacklich sehr gut, allerdings könnte der Salat mehr von dem ausgezeichneten Dressing vertragen, wurde aber nachgeliefert. Die Maultaschen sehr gut, allerdings wurden sie in der, auch wieder ausgezeichneten, Champignonsoße ertränkt. Manchmal ist "mehr" besser und manchmal ist "weniger" besser. Das Schnitzel sehr gut, aber die Bratkartoffeln langweilig, nicht richtig gebraten und ohne Speck und Zwiebeln, aber mit guten Bratkartoffeln tun sich viele Köche schwer. Leider. Auf den Tischen fehlte Salz und Pfeffer, welches entweder Standard ist, oder normalerweise automatisch gereicht werden sollte, wenn das Essen serviert wird. Die Preise für die heutige Zeit völlig in Ordnung. Aber ich will nicht so viel maulen, wir waren recht zufrieden und kommen wieder.

Tolle Location Super leckeres Essen 100% empfehlenswert!!

Ich hatte für eine größere Gruppe im Garten des VAU in Birkach reserviert. Wir konnten Tische unter einem großen Schirm nach unseren Wünschen zusammenstellen. Nach dem Essen à la carte (die Qualität wurde von allen als sehr gut bewertet) sind wir noch einige Zeit zusammen gesessen. Ein perfektes Treffen! Besonders hervorheben will ich die freundliche, schnelle und unaufdringliche Bedienung, die uns betreut hat!

Zum Außen - Ambiente : Einladend, gepflegt, die Hecken könnten etwas höher sein, dann wäre man zur Straße hin etwas Wind - und schallgeschützter. Empfang und Bedienung : Freundlich und umsichtig. Wartezeit : kurz. . Die Bestellungen waren schnell am Tisch, man konnte gemeinsam beginnen. Die Speisen sind frisch und selbstgemacht, da steckt viel Liebe und Mehrkosten drin, das schmeckt man, man merkt es aber auch bei der Größe der Portionen. Ein gestandener Mann wird hier nicht satt! Bestellt wurde eine Maultaschen - Suppe und Maultaschen geröstet mit Ei und Beilagensalat. Dazu eine kleine Johannisbeersaft - Schorle. Diese schmeckte sehr wässrig, da die Hälfte des Glases mit Eiswürfeln gefüllt war (obwohl wir diese nicht bestellt hatten). Gespart wurde auch beim Salat - Dressing. Der Salat war nur oben etwas benetzt. Auf unsere Bitte hin wurde jedoch bereitwillig nachgeliefert. Fazit : Neben viel gutem Willen bleibt noch viel Luft nach oben. Wir werden diesen Sommer nochmal bei Euch vorbei schauen und testen, ob sich etwas verbessert hat.

Für nur Übernachtung ist es ausreichend. Zum Wohlfühlen und Zeit im Hotel verbringen ist es nicht geeignet.

Zum Hotel kann ich nichts sagen, zum Restaurant aber wohl. Seit ein paar Monaten gibt es das Restaurant VAU. Das Personal ist sehr schnell und aufmerksam. Das Essen bodenständig gut. Selbstgemachter Kartoffelsalat mit Fleischküchle, SchniPoSa, oder Kässpätzle. Ich kann mich ie entscheiden, alles richtig lecker. Preislich nicht wirklich günstig aber bezahlbar. Zum Glück wohne ich in der Nähe. ;-)

Essen ist gut und kann man empfehlen. Leider ist der Service überfordert gewesen.Ich mache der Servicekraft keinen Vorwurf ehr der Geschäftsleitung. Wenn das geändert wird könnte man die Lokalität empfehlen aber so geh ich lieber woanders hin.

Heute zum ersten Mal dort gewesen. Waren von der Begrüßung bis zum Rechnungs Vorgang komplett zufrieden. Das Essen 5☆plus Hausgemachte spätzle findet man heute noch sehr selten und allein das Waren schon 5 Sterne 🌟. Wir werden es in unserem Freundeskreis weiterempfehlen und Waren dort nicht zum letzten Mal. Weiter so👍

Sehr tolles Restaurant. Bei der Speisekarte wundert sich vielleicht manch einer, weil es schwäbische Gerichte und kleinere Gerichte wie eine Thom Kha Gai Suppe gibt die man eher beim Thailänder erwartet. Aber das Essen war vorzüglich. Sowohl die Thom Kha Gai, als auch die Hauptgerichte. Service ist sehr freundlich und das Ambiente ist auch toll. Nichts zu beanstanden!
