It was alright. Very busy. The staff were very friendly, but sometimes quite slow. The food was good, but not hot. The chocolate soufflé was only lukewarm. All in all, good, but not outstanding.

We were a group of 14 for dinner before the musical. We had made a reservation. When we arrived, our table wasn't set, and tables that didn't belong together were quickly pushed together. The server was friendly and very eager to do everything right. The first 10 meals arrived very quickly after we ordered. Some of the pinsas were undercooked, the goulash was lukewarm, and the vegetables were cold. The sauce for the pork neck was definitely not homemade, more likely from a packet. After 10 of us had finished eating, 5 meals were still missing. We politely inquired about this. The server was very helpful and immediately checked with the kitchen. This happened three more times until, after 60 minutes, I took the liberty of going to the kitchen myself and asking. By then, we were also a bit pressed for time, as the musical was about to start. The meals finally arrived; the salad was carelessly presented, and the antipasti platter was an outrage for the price. For eating so late, we were allowed to choose a free dessert, which we had to wolf down because we really had to leave. The dessert was also disappointing, and the cappuccino was practically cold. We arrived at the musical in a bit of a rush, some of us quite hungry. In summary: It's not worth the money, and we certainly won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, before the musicals, it's just a rushed, impersonal affair. The €8 aperitif tastes like water, the schnitzel is processed meat and burnt, the pork is completely overcooked, and the spaetzle is cold. Despite the stress, the service is very friendly and helpful. We've been coming here for the musicals for 20 years, but we'll probably eat somewhere else beforehand from now on, as experience has shown that all the "food stalls" on this stretch of road are just about processing people; apparently, quality isn't possible in that context.

We had burgers, they were fantastic 👍... you can reserve your drinks for the musical's intermission and pick them up there, which is very convenient. After the musical, we also had a cocktail. The restaurant is very large. It was very crowded when we were there, making it quite uncomfortable and noisy. The food was okay, but a bit overpriced for the quality. The staff was absolutely fantastic, very friendly.

Good cocktails, but the pre-packaged food and service were disappointing – and we were practically kicked out: We were there yesterday before the Frozen musical. First, we were moved to another table in the corner, told "we could have eaten in peace there, the other table is now being reserved." You had to order yourself at the bar, and drinks were brought to you. The cocktails were really good. The food, on the other hand, was very expensive and poor. The chicken burger was like a cheap, deep-fried, pre-made patty with no flavor, one lettuce leaf, and BBQ sauce. The fries were rock hard. The beef burger was tough. The pinsa tasted like frozen food from a discount store – everything was unseasoned, unsalted, and prepared without any care. Two people at our table had already finished eating when the server suddenly asked if we were finished too – we hadn't even received our food at that point. Then there was another 15-minute wait. No apology, just an "Oh." Cash only – but that's not stated anywhere. We had to go upstairs with the waiter to be able to pay by card. After dinner, we wanted to order another round of cocktails (which were really good) – when suddenly a chair was placed in front of our table. The explanation: "The table is now reserved, you have to leave. Thank you, goodbye." Very disappointing. We wanted to have a special evening, but this really spoiled it. The price-performance ratio was completely off, and the service was unprofessional. This might work for one-time musicalgoers, since they don't rely on repeat business – but Balthazar certainly won't be seeing us again.

The atmosphere before the musical was incredibly hectic, the food was a disaster: the chicken was tough, the rice cold, the grilled vegetables uninspired, and the pasta tasteless. Add to that the atmosphere of a drafty train station. There was a long wait to pay. Only the service was exceptionally attentive, but unfortunately, it couldn't salvage the disastrous experience. Especially since the musical ticket package isn't cheap. Avoid this place and bring your own packed lunch instead!

Cold, drafty, no card payments, prepayment required, glass deposit, and you have to order drinks by shouting... fries without salt... I think a change of ownership would be a good thing.

At peak times it's quite hectic, loud, and therefore somewhat uncomfortable. Food and drinks arrived very quickly, and the staff was friendly. Addendum: It's absolutely unacceptable that the owner wanted the Google review above deleted because the review was supposedly "defamatory." I didn't stand for this and asked Google to actually review the review, and since then it's visible to everyone here again. This is for your information, as there are some people who are wondering how this restaurant achieves such a good average rating – by having less positive reviews deleted.

We stayed for two days to see a musical. The first time, it was empty. The next day, it was very busy, but even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a table quickly. The food and cocktails were excellent. The service was excellent both days, but especially on the second day, even though it was very busy, the waitress was super nice. Thank you.

I've rarely eaten as badly as there... Antipasti appetizer platter: cold grilled vegetables, the advertised mushrooms in it were just half a mushroom, the ham was from a package, the cheese was from a package, the carrots on the salad were raw, and everything was refrigerator cold... Cheese spaetzle: small portion, the fried onions were completely soft, the cheese was untasteable - nothing special... Penne Gorgonzola: a hint of Gorgonzola, the spinach was completely watery, and all for that price, disappointing... I can't understand the rating of over 4.5 stars. The whole meal comes out of a bag and tastes accordingly. No thanks.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner here at Balthazar Restaurant (located up the stairs, first floor). As tourists, we asked for Swabian food recommendations, and Armin was a wonderful help! He suggested that we try the Flammekueche (German Pizza) and the Zwiebelrostbraten (Swabian Roast Beef with Fried Onions), both of which were absolutely delicious. Thank you for the delightful food and service!

We had lunch in the beer garden of the SI Center on July 6, 2025, before attending the Tarzan show. Unfortunately, our visit to the beer garden was a huge disappointment – especially because it was a birthday present for our grandmother's 80th, and we wanted to give her a nice day. Despite good Google reviews, the experience there was quite the opposite: • Card payments were supposed to be possible, but we were refused. Instead, we were told we would have to go elsewhere if we wanted to pay by card – neither customer-friendly nor understandable. However, this was only communicated after ordering. • The food was poorly presented (burgers were disassembled on the plate, so you had to assemble it yourself), the taste was disappointing (dry burgers, non-carbonated drinks, strange dips), and the whole thing was self-service. • The staff were largely disinterested and barely visible. You didn't really feel welcome as a guest. • Other guests also simply got up and left – so we weren't the only ones who were disappointed. Luckily, we still enjoyed the musical, but the beer garden visit beforehand was a real disappointment and ruined the start to the day. We were definitely there (we had a ticket from the same day), in case the operator should deny this again. The fact that our experience is being questioned afterward doesn't make things any better.

Like most people who come here, we had dinner at the now-defunct Tarzan musical. I would recommend making a reservation before an event like this. The atmosphere isn't as cozy when the tables are full, and it can get quite loud at times. The food was okay, but not worthy of a five-star rating. The receptionist was friendly. However, the service staff seemed very stressed, and there was a constant feeling of being rushed through the crowd.

Incredibly BAD "restaurant." We wanted to have a nice meal with the family before the musical. Based on the positive reviews, we quickly decided on the Balthazar restaurant. However, we're wondering how it got so many good reviews? We haven't had such a bad restaurant experience in a long time. 1. After a cold and unfriendly greeting on the terrace, we were told to please place our orders for both drinks and food at the counter inside. So we all went in. That's a very unpleasant way to start a restaurant visit. 2. The waiters, who weren't really waiters since there was no service, were walking around in sweatpants and sweaters? That's how I go to the gym. 3. After we placed our orders at the counter, we were told to please pay for everything up front, both drinks and food, and only in cash. Card payments weren't possible. 4. We also had to pay a deposit on our glasses? Even though we ate and drank on-site? Never experienced that. 5. The drinks weren't brought to our seats; we had to wait at the bar until they were ready and then take them back to our seats ourselves. 6. We don't need to talk about the food. It was abysmal. We had cheese spaetzle, Maultaschen (ravioli), and grilled chicken with fries. The cheese spaetzle and Maultaschen were terrible and clearly convenience foods. Absolutely not recommended, and the price/performance ratio is completely out of this world. 7. At the end, we were told to clear our glasses ourselves, otherwise we wouldn't get our deposit back. 8. I hadn't finished my drink yet and asked the lady at the bar if I could take my drink inside. She just rudely replied, "How was she supposed to know?" She said she didn't care where I went with the glass. Okay. Thanks for the chat. All in all: unfriendly, disgusting food, a bad atmosphere, unjustified price, and NO SERVICE AT ALL. For a meal before a nice event like a musical, it's simply disgraceful.

First of all: the staff was very friendly and enthusiastic. But that was it. Card payments aren't accepted! The food: hamburgers with rock-hard meat, Caesar salad unloving and dry, everything seems like it was "bought together and warmed up." You also have to pay a deposit on drinks. The prices are quite high considering almost everything is self-service.

But we were disappointed with the burgers and fries last time; they were lukewarm and tasteless. Today we had penne with Gorgonzola, chicken breast strips, and spinach. The portion was way overpriced at €18.90... it tasted a bit like a Bofrost mix, and it wasn't much value for money. Our friends' dessert was fantastic, too: apple strudel with cream, vanilla ice cream, and sauce, also beautifully presented... a huge portion for €7.90. Nevertheless, we'll go somewhere else next time we see a musical. What a shame...

If you want to experience how gastronomy doesn't work, Balthazar in the SI Center is the place for you. Plastic straws – I thought they were a thing of the past. Plastic dishes are thrown in for good measure, as if sustainability were a foreign concept. Then, when paying, the surprise: Cash is king. Signs? Of course not – that would be service. The food: The "salad" essentially consists of a single, gigantic leaf – apparently, the term "leaf salad" was taken far too literally here. The whole thing is rounded off by a generous portion of dressing soup, which completely drowns the already impractical greens. There's also a build-your-own burger – IKEA says hello – consisting of a dry frozen patty and a sad pile of fries. Vegetarians, on the other hand, are offered practically nothing here: the selection is so meager that you can almost "rejoice" in the gigantic lettuce leaf in the end. The portions are small, but the prices are all the higher for that. The value for money is a caricature of itself. Add to that the blunt knives, deposits on glasses (in the restaurant!?), and self-service where you have to order inside while people happily smoke outside – no smoking area? The bottom line: Anyone looking for genuinely expensive fast food made with third-rate ingredients in a cafeteria atmosphere will be happy here. Everyone else is better off going straight to the next stop.

We had reserved a table the day before for an hour and a half before our musical. A nice gentleman assigned us our table and handed us the menus – so far, so good! However, we were served by a seemingly grumpy and annoyed server, and the drinks and later the food took a very long time to arrive, so we felt under pressure to get to the show on time. The food was very disappointing; we hadn't remembered it being like this from previous visits. The fries served with the meal were hard, very dry, and some of them were inedible!!! Very annoying when you consider the prices they charge!

You have to take the drinks to your table yourself and pay for them in CASH, with a deposit for glasses and bottles. No card payments accepted, and this is where musicals are taking place and you can pre-order drinks during the interval. Even when asked, there is no receipt for the service paid for. I had the meat cakes with spaetzle and gravy, which was a completely ready-made product. The spaetzle, which are advertised as homemade, were also just ready-made. I had a cocktail to drink, which tasted more like water than the cocktail I wanted. When I asked, they just said there was nothing they could do. It was my second and last time there. I always give a second chance, but it was just a waste of money again.

I don't know where these good reviews come from. The food was mediocre and not worth the price. The salad on the plate was dirty, the meat in the goulash was partly dry, the cheap wine comes in a glass that's more like a tankard, and on top of that, you can only pay in cash downstairs, which you're told after you've ordered. The most disgusting thing, though, are the alleged plates. The food is simply slapped onto PLASTIC trays, which is truly disgusting, and the cutlery is then served on a porcelain plate 😂 Absolutely not recommended.

From the outside, everything looks good, I have to say. But if you're expecting service, you're mistaken. Food and drinks have to be ordered at the bar inside and paid for immediately. The worst part is, they don't accept card payments. It's important to note that they don't inform you in advance that they don't accept card payments. To me, this isn't a restaurant, more of a snack bar; they even charge a deposit on bottles and glasses.

A highly recommended location with great, attentive service who, even during peak times before and after the musicals, keep everything under control and are extremely friendly. We had the chicken breast fillets, the Caesar salad, and the rump steak, all of which tasted amazing and were cooked to perfection. The frozen tiramisu is an absolute insider tip; definitely try it! :)

Deposits for glasses and bottles in a restaurant? Nice side income when half the guests don't know about it and leave everything behind. It's self-service, after all. There's no mention of it on the menu. Here's the kicker: The waiter clears a table with half-full glasses and straws. These were simply dumped into the nearby bushes. Plastic straws included. Is this really necessary if everything doesn't have to be carried to the kitchen anyway?

Overall, the food was okay, but the price was a bit high for fast food. Food and drinks cannot be ordered from your seat; instead, you have to pick them up yourself at the cash register, which doesn't fit the atmosphere of the place. Additionally, there is an additional €1 deposit for glasses and beer bottles, but this isn't openly communicated. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she reacted extremely rudely. The waitress must have been having a bad day, because when we later gave way to him, she didn't even thank us but continued to stare at us with a pissed-off look. The woman who took our order was also rude and chatted constantly with her colleagues while she was taking it, so we had to repeat our order several times. This is probably why some of the items got mixed up. The tables next to us also expressed their displeasure about some of the incorrect orders.

I had a side salad as a starter for €6.90, but what came next was a joke. Never worth it. Then I had a pinsa, the taste was okay, nothing more. My wife had a curry, which wasn't worth the money either. The rice was very warm, the curry with the meat was already cold, and you could tell it was from a package, so it tasted good, too. The Coke Zero tasted stale. Okay. The service was very friendly. The waiter was a young man. Really nice. Later downstairs at the bar, you can only pay in cash. Cards aren't accepted, which is terrible. But the staff there were very friendly. We won't go there again. They could make more of it.

We were very satisfied with our club sandwich and schnitzel. The cellar beer and the service were also excellent. We were the only guests besides a couple. Unfortunately, it was very warm and stuffy. We think it's a must-visit in the Si-Zentrum.

The young bartender downstairs at the bar seems very friendly. He's actively involved, and you can see that he enjoys his job. The Aperol Spritz was very well mixed and beautifully presented.

My wife and I ate at the Balthazar restaurant yesterday after seeing a musical. We didn't reserve a table, but we were lucky enough to be able to eat there. We had bruschetta for starters; my wife had baked Maultaschen (ravioli), and I had Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle). The bruschetta wasn't toasted, but it still tasted good and the bread wasn't soggy. My wife enjoyed the Maultaschen, and the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were also delicious, with plenty of cheese in them. It was served quickly and hot. If we're ever in the area again, we'll be back.

The man at the reception was friendly and accommodating. But that was the only positive thing. The food was average at best, edible, but reminded me more of student cafeteria days. I had penne, my companion's salad was a bit better but still average. For the price, we would have expected a bit more, despite the location. Another reason for the 2 stars is the somewhat cool service at the bar, where you bring your own drinks to your table AND you can only pay by cash. My companion had a slight stomachache after eating.

The first meal arrived just a few minutes after ordering. What I really liked was that since the second meal didn't arrive right away, they let me know it would arrive shortly. It's so simple, yet it's a rare occurrence. Everything was excellent; I highly recommend the Balthazar.

No card payments at the bar?! It's 2025...

We ate there with a large group before a musical – so yes, it was clear that the whole thing would be more of a mass-production experience than a culinary experience. Nevertheless, we had hoped that they would at least serve us the burger pre-assembled. Instead, we got a kit: bun, meat, lettuce, onions – all neatly arranged, like an IKEA self-assembly meal. The plates? Plastic. And not the fancy organic plastic with an eco-friendly flair, but more of a children's birthday-party-in-the-garden vibe. They were also quite small, so much so that even when you were putting the toppings on the burger, you were afraid half of it would slip onto your lap. The only positive thing: The food came quickly. But given the portion size, a microwave probably could have done the trick. All in all: If you're hungry and don't have high expectations, it's fine. For a nice dinner before the musical? Better to keep walking.

So food and drinks have to be ordered inside and paid for in advance - that's okay. In a restaurant they charge a deposit for the glasses - very strange. This means you have to get your own drinks and clear them away - service? Normal at a food truck or kiosk, but in a restaurant with corresponding prices, not what is expected. The price to be paid was calculated using the calculator on the cell phone and card payment was not possible - very strange. We waited 45 minutes for the dishes we ordered (and no, it wasn't extremely busy - I worked in the catering industry for a long time and know what stress looks like). The starter and main course were served together, so one of them definitely had to be cold. The chicken salad was good. The burger came in a modular system (i.e. in individual parts on the plate), which meant that the petty was only lukewarm. In addition, the petty was very dark and cooked, in connection with the temperature, it must have been frozen. While we were sitting there, it turned out that the orders at two neighboring tables hadn't arrived or had been forgotten. Some of them could be re-ordered in the kitchen at short notice, while the others were canceled because the musical was starting in a few minutes. At a new (neighbouring) table they said that they would be in the kitchen super quickly. Service: mostly nice and friendly Price performance: a slightly higher price level was expected, but the actual price was even higher. The next time we go to a musical, we'd rather go somewhere else.

Very long waiting time, starter and main course were delivered at the same time. Plastic plates. Food must be ordered at the bar. No card payment possible, price is calculated using mobile phone. The food is lukewarm, the fries are bland, the burger has to be assembled at the table yourself, which means it cools down a lot. Empty drinks must be returned as a deposit is required. Waiters nice and accommodating. All in all very annoying and not appropriate for the location and price.

We ordered drinks and food but the drinks arrived after the meal. The meal took about 25 minutes with moderate crowds. One dish arrived another 20 minutes after the other dishes. The lady at reception was unfriendly and know-it-all. Overall, I wouldn't come back because there is no positive aspect and it's not worth coming here. 1.5/5

All in all it was fine. Drinks must be fetched at the counter yourself; food is brought to the table after ordering at the counter. Because of the many people there, it can of course not be compared to a small restaurant. The staff was friendly and the food was tasty.

The ambience was less nice, it was very loud and hectic. Even with a reservation, you had to wait in line for 5-10 minutes. The waitress paid us little attention and even when we asked, the side salads didn't come. The side dishes were cold. Not recommended!

We recommend making reservations. The service staff are very friendly and we are served quickly. In between, further requests will be asked. The food is served quickly and is very attractively presented. We were very satisfied. Card payment possible.

We were after the musical (lunchtime performance) there. The food was absolutely delicious and our waiter was super nice. Anytime again👌

Only rate outdoor dining here: Unfortunately no card payment possible, not a problem in itself. Just wanted to know before ordering that only cash is accepted. A shield wouldn't be that heavy! The concept that you first have to look for a table, then go to the bar and order so that it is brought to the table also seems very cumbersome to me. There are also service staff who bring the order to the table. They could probably also take orders. Either completely self-service or not at all! Very often I saw people wanting a table, then going inside and the table would be taken by other people. Unnecessary discussion and inconvenience, in my opinion.

Great service, very tasty food and perfect value for money.
