An absolutely perfect start to our vacation! 🌊🐟 We received an incredibly warm welcome at the Hornfischbar in Greifswald. The service was super friendly and even handled difficult guests with charm and confidence – something you rarely experience! A special highlight: We were able to enjoy our fresh fish sandwiches on the ship by the cozy fireplace – simply wonderful. Fresh flowers were placed on every table, adding a lovely touch to the whole experience. The food was outstanding – fresh, homemade, and served on wonderfully crispy baguette rolls. You can taste the love that goes into making it. A place with heart, flavor, and atmosphere – a vacation couldn't start better!

Simply wow!! The food was beyond good. The service was super nice and friendly. We made a reservation in advance. You have to do that there.

Great ambiance, delicious food. Service was also okay, but unfortunately a bit disorganized. And for those prices, I wouldn't expect self-service... No card payments either, medieval. But still good, so only 2 stars deducted for service (due to self-service, lack of organization, and lack of card payments).

We, too, have always been very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the delicious food. Today we were rudely "fed off," even though we had reserved a table inside a week earlier after a good meal. We followed the staff's entry and left our phone number. We weren't allowed to sit down today; the service from a week earlier was unknown, and another guest got the reservation. That can happen, too, but an apology is the least we can offer for this mishap. Actually, you can't really give half a point for that. Okay, another "location" a few meters away was happy to accommodate six people.

When it's windy, the ship rocks slightly, which you should be able to handle, but it does provide a real ship atmosphere.

A ship with atmosphere! Friendly service, excellent food, especially the delicious, airy crust on the tender fried fish. And of course, the setting is unbeatable: sitting in the sun in front of the ship in the museum harbor.

Absolutely a must! Good food, even better fish sandwiches. It's conveniently located between the cheapest parking lot and the city center. It's an old cutter on the Ryck River, in the museum harbor.

This restaurant on a fishing boat was recommended to us by a local. And it was incredibly delicious. We had pollock fillet under a potato crust and Gisele's fish soup (small portion). Absolutely delicious and really good value for money. I can definitely recommend it. A reservation is a good idea, as it was very busy even on a Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.

Very friendly service, and even though the restaurant was fully booked, we were still able to get a great spot for 1.5 hours. We got a fantastic fish fillet in batter, and other guests' dishes also looked appealing. A truly lovely atmosphere.

We went there for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately, I saw the "self-service" sign too late, but we stayed anyway. The food, to begin with, was really good, better than I expected. But why self-service when three people were standing around waiting for me to get my drinks? The cutlery was on the other side, so I had to run through all the tables to get it. Not nice, so no tip (not just from me, other guests felt the same). OK for students, a no-go for families. Older people have a hard time there, as there are lots of tripping hazards!! Not without danger. The service staff may be students... very important! What a shame... because the food was really good. I haven't eaten such good fish in a long time...

I can recommend the Hornfischbar. I went there with my family for lunch in the picturesque museum harbor of Greifswald. We ate on the moored restaurant ship. There are also tables outside under large umbrellas. It's beautifully decorated, and for colder weather, there's a large stove on deck. There are restrooms on the ship, and you can enjoy the view, and the current gives you a sense of movement. The main business seems to be freshly prepared fish sandwiches, which you can order at the counter. We ate from the menu. The kids chose a schnitzel with fries and salad. It was seared quite hot, but tasted very good. The portion of spaghetti with tomato sauce was enormous. I ate two zander fillets with tomato and bread salad, which was beautifully dressed with olives and capers. The service was okay, but the waiter was so distracted at times that he couldn't get through the few tables on board.

The food isn't just a feast for the eyes, it tastes amazing! The best zander I've had in a long time, and I highly recommend the sweet cutter! The service was also super friendly and accommodating! We'll be back when we're in Greifswald! Delicious! 😋👍🏻

Favorite spot in the museum harbor. Special in the evenings, wonderful maritime atmosphere. The food is very good, though not cheap.

Unfortunately, it's declined: no longer serving outside, the quality of the product is being cut (artificially colored industrial green olives are used instead of black olives, etc.), and improvements are lacking (suggestions: if you already have Störtepils on tap, replace the additional bottled pilsner with bottled cellar beer, offer card payments, etc.). The service (inside) is courteous and friendly. The chef is clearly talented, but he probably can't be blamed for the aforementioned product usage.

There’s 5s you give not to disrupt the scores of nice local places, and there’s 5s you give because they do everything perfectly. This is that last. Impeccable service, beautiful clean interesting space, PERFECTLY cooked fish. Only warning: the “small” soup is more the size of a lunch than an appetiser!

Service staff have been hired, self-service, smaller portions at the same price! Same dish, different quantities, and if you complain, you get a smaller portion back and even less bread. Sorry, that was the last time. Not recommended!!!

The food is truly excellent – ​​we're always happy to come back. However, the service has changed significantly recently: There's no longer table service; instead, you now have to order at the counter. This is, of course, fine if it's compensated for elsewhere – for example, through faster processing, modern payment options like card payments, or other small added value. Unfortunately, this isn't currently the case. The prices remain the same, but the service has decreased – which overall doesn't seem very customer-friendly. We will therefore take a break for the time being and hope that something will change in the future.

5 stars for delicious food and friendly service, even when it's stressful. I'm not deducting a star for that – as mentioned in other reviews, when it's busy, it can take FOREVER. We were almost forgotten; I politely asked when other people who arrived 30 minutes after us had their food on the table before us. Especially when you arrive a little later – with a child – (7:45 p.m.) and then don't get your food until around 9 p.m., it gets a bit nerve-wracking. It could definitely be better – but the great location and really friendly service make up for it – she was clearly sorry about it, too!

I've known the restaurant since 2015, when my son started university in Greifswald. I love all the variations of the fish sandwiches: large, fresh rolls, delicious with salad and dressing, and fresh fish at very reasonable prices. Dinner on board is an experience. Yesterday, the two of us spontaneously stopped in after a quick phone call. I really wanted to try Labskaus. I ordered the Lauterbach fish soup beforehand. It's a poem 😋👍🏼! The Labskaus is just as good!!! Highly recommended. The two young waitresses were quick and very friendly. There was a nice chat for every guest. A visit is highly recommended.

We ate here twice today during our stay in Greifwald. For lunch we had a delicious fish sandwich. In the evening we were there again and ate the pike perch and the fish fillet in batter. Last year I ate a fish sandwich there! The best thing I've ever had! I definitely have to go to the restaurant there, and yesterday was the day! I noticed first also the warmth from the oven and then the fresh flowers on the table. The waiter was very welcoming. Since I wasn't that fast, he gave me the time I needed. But don't forget me! Felt in good hands!! The food was just as good as you would imagine! Fresh, not overcooked! Mashed potatoes like nuts and the carrot vegetables with a lot of sophistication! Well seasoned! Thank you for that! Keep it up and stay healthy!

We were in Greifswald for three days and were there for three evenings! That actually says it all. Great atmosphere, great service, great food with the most beautiful company I could imagine! We'd love to come back.

Extremely cool location. The boat itself is old but superbly restored. It is very romantic, especially at night, with the fairy lights all around, reflecting off of the water. The backdrop of the small port is also very beautiful, peaceful and picturesque. For a date there is no better location around. The food is really delicious and fresh, well prepared and presented. The menu is very varied, one can have a proper sit-down dinner or something a bit more casual and smaller, like a Fischbrötchen but a lot more high scale than at an Imbiss. The bread is crispy and the fish is very juicy. The french fries are also very tasty. I can also recommend their cocktails. The prices are very reasonable for the quality as well as the service and experience.

Sitting next to the fireplace in the ship is very cozy. All the flowers on the tables are fresh, which is not a given these days. The food there is excellent and the sauce goes perfectly with it. The service is natural and warm. We had a wonderful lunch time there. The restaurant is highly recommended.

Dinner in the Hornfischbar was an absolute highlight of my visit to Greifswald - very cozy by the fireplace, super attentive staff and the best fish dish of my life (and I don't constantly throw around superlatives). We were there on September 27th 2024 with 11 people registered for 8 p.m. At 8:15 p.m. we were let in and placed at the cable drum in the rear. Since there wasn't enough seating, two broken chairs were added. The waitress came to see us for the first time at 8:45 p.m. Drinks would take another 20 minutes and food would take 40 minutes. Dear people, please don't accept orders if you can't make it. Our evening was over, we were disappointed with this 'service' and left!

Despite reservations and late entry, we were assigned a table for 11 people that was suitable for 8 people. Several broken chairs included. Then our table was ignored for 40 minutes. We were able to observe how guests who arrived after us were served and already received drinks. When we were finally allowed to place our order, we were informed that we would have to wait 20 minutes for the drinks and at least 45 minutes for the food. Then we would have received our food at 9.40pm... with an order for 8pm. The staff was completely overwhelmed. Since we were all hungry and thirsty, we weren't willing to wait any longer. Luckily, the restaurant La Piazza on the market still had the kitchen open and was happy to welcome 11 additional guests. We were served quickly and friendly here and probably had our food quicker than we would have gotten our drinks at the Hornfischbar. I don't think this restaurant is suitable for groups. We cannot rate the quality of the food. We left the ship after almost an hour hungry and thirsty.

The food was good and not too expensive. We had fish burgers and salmon on potato pancakes. The fish burger had bones, but at least it was made with fresh fish. The service was very nice and tried very hard. However, the organization was pretty disastrous that Monday evening. Guests have already pointed out to us that it could take a little longer (small kitchen), but 1 1/2 hours is still too much. Then the beer ran out (OK, there was another free drink instead) and our order could no longer be found when billing. Other guests seem to have had similar experiences. That significantly dampened the enjoyment of the evening and therefore unfortunately only 3 stars. It remains to be hoped that it was an unfortunate exception.

Friendly staff, good food, always happy

The Hornfischbar on the Pomeria in Greifswald offers a very special maritime experience. The restaurant is located on the historic steamship Pomeria, which is moored in the museum harbor. Culinary enjoyment and a touch of seafaring romance come together here. The menu is varied and, in addition to fresh fish, such as the excellent herring trilogy, also offers hearty meat dishes and delicious desserts. The ambience is particularly attractive in both summer and winter. While you can enjoy the fresh breeze on deck in the warm months, the ship's fireplace invites you to enjoy a cozy meal in the cold season. The friendly service and the excellent quality of the freshly prepared dishes are particularly commendable. Definitely worth a visit!

As many others have already written, very good food, friendly service (even provided mosquito repellent for those sitting outside) and a super idyllic atmosphere. 4 stars for the service due to no card payment. The prices are cheap in relation to what is on offer, but it still adds up.

Wir waren regelmäßig bei der Pomerania, um die leckeren Menüangebote zu genießen. Heute, 05.09.2024, jedoch wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Beim Menü Greifswalder Pannenfisch hatten wir weder bei den Bratkartoffeln noch vom Gurken-Dill-Häckerle mehr als einen Esslöffel auf dem Teller. Die Dijon-Senf-Soße musste man auf dem Teller sprichwörtlich suchen. Auf Nachfrage für etwas mehr Soße mit Häckerle entschuldigte sich der Kellner mit der Aussage, dass der Koch nichts mehr herausgibt. Dadurch war das Gericht sehr sehr trocken. Als Widergutmachung bot uns der Kellner einen Dessert oder einen Kaffee an. Wir lehnten ab, da wir sehr enttäuscht waren. Es war wohl ein neuer Koch am Bord. Mit diesem Koch halten wir erst einmal Abstand von einem weiteren Besuch. Schade!!!
