Beautiful, stylish location. Very pleasant, friendly staff, and the food is a true culinary experience. You must reserve a table here, as the restaurant gets very busy.

Stopped in spontaneously on a drive through Franconia. A table became available, we sat down, received friendly service, and were simply delighted. A culinary highlight; it tasted sensational; the potato salad alone is worth a trip to Coburg. The open kitchen gives you a glimpse of what's to come later. Highly recommended.

I've been to Coburg several times and haven't eaten as well as here. I absolutely recommend it. The food was excellent, the service was superb. And it was cozy and tidy, too. We'll definitely be back soon and will definitely recommend it. However, you should be a bit garlicky, or state upfront that you don't want any 😉. By the way, the food was also a real eye-catcher. I had the cheese spaetzle with glazed pork loin. Definitely try it.

We were passing through Coburg and chose the restaurant based on our gut feeling. Luckily, it doesn't happen often that we're so impressed by a restaurant, its service, and its cuisine. The minimalist yet warm ambiance. The cordial yet unobtrusive service. And above all, the excellent, lovingly prepared cuisine, full of little surprises, and the perfect and exceptional espresso to finish the meal. All of this prompted us to write a review for the first time in our lives. So, in conclusion, bravo to both of you and thank you again.

Nice restaurant with a simple menu. The pork schnitzel was slightly on the drier side for me and a bit gamey. But the potato salad with the lemon more than made up for it. The jam was fantastic, great way to add some sweetness to the meal. The dressing on the side salad was a bit strong but very refreshing. Friendly, English-speaking workers. Very quick service. I'll be back!

If you like to eat with pleasure but without unnecessary fancy, this is the right place for you. Not an overloaded menu, but still something for everyone. Super quality paired with an absolute taste experience definitely deserves five stars. Even the vegan dish was a hit, which isn't the case everywhere. The small, cozy dining room is comfortably furnished. We really enjoyed staying at Hopfen&Malz and will certainly eat there again.

We spontaneously walked through Coburg looking for dinner and found this restaurant. We were enthusiastically greeted and served lovingly by the look of the rooms. The menu is small but that's exactly what makes it exciting for us - changing dishes means for us that you still put in the effort and have fun running a restaurant. This is exactly what you can feel in the warmth of the hosts!! The food was perfectly balanced, very well seasoned and the portions were large enough. Price performance is absolutely right for us here! We had a delicious evening and will definitely be back!

We received a very warm welcome in this beautiful, lovingly furnished inn. It's really true to the tavern, you can watch the innkeeper cooking, anyone who likes to cook will love it and he's a veteran in his field. I suspect that the selection of dishes remains "stable" and is therefore probably perfected. We ate excellently, the sauces seem to be very elaborately homemade, everything is fresh, has the right degree of doneness, vegetables are al dente and everything is simply perfect, very refined and delicately seasoned for our taste and looks very nice, no frills, just one Meal that will make your mouth water. The service is very warm, there are also a lot of drinks to try out here, a special recommendation for the cucumber spritz and you almost feel like you're with "family" even on your first visit. It's not fancy, it's pure and reliable. We still have one small drawback: the ventilation system needs to be reworked for the show cooking. Indoors it's almost borderline, but outdoors it's definitely charming. Maybe that will happen, we will definitely travel from Bamberg again. Highly recommended!

Just great. The cook (bus driver) and the super nice service simply create a great atmosphere. The food is something different, not always the usual. Great ideas on the plate that are also super tasty. It was a nice evening. But unfortunately I have to deduct one point: I found the portions to be too small. Above all, we were already at a higher price level for Coburg. Could have eaten something else. But otherwise great concept, keep it up.

Rather by chance, looking for something different from the down-to-earth, but also heavy Franconian cuisine, we came across this small but fine restaurant near the Ehrenburg. The kitchen and dining room are one and so we are immediately surrounded by fumes and smells. The map: Clear and imaginative. We decide on the three-kind bread dip as an inspiration. The intense flavors of the onion chutney, the olive tapenade and the sheep's cheese cream come through wonderfully on the wonderfully crispy slices and make you want more. The fried char that follows has it all: Not only is the fillet crispy and to the point, but also every single component of the side dishes - polenta slices, cauliflower, parsnips, snow peas, Brussels sprouts, carrots, broccoli (did I forget something?) - also unleashes an explosion of chatter. This is true culinary art. The schnitzel and the roasted potatoes are also a poem. On top of that, absolutely reasonable prices let us go home with a satisfied grin.

Nice and modern restaurant in the city center. Food was fresh and tasty - we all ordered schnitzel. However, a minus point because the portions are too small. At this price you would expect a little more (at least in the Coburg area). Service was always quick and friendly, but you may want to charge your EC device before opening the store. Regarding the ambience - there was perhaps some music missing in the background and we found the kitchen volume (apart from the falling objects) to be a bit too loud.

Five of us went to Hopfen&Malz today without a reservation, I think that was an exception (that we were spontaneously seated) because the food was fantastic, it was so deliciously seasoned and the service was great too! I'm already looking forward to the next time! 👌👍

We reserved online and it went without any problems. Reception was very friendly. Food was super tasty and good portions. Jasmin is super accommodating and Benny is a brilliant cook. The atmosphere is really cozy and you immediately feel at home. We can only recommend it and will definitely come back.

The dishes on offer are great and taste really good. Great ideas for the composition and incredibly nice service. The only thing that isn't really right is the price in relation to the portion. I'm not a big eater but unfortunately I wasn't full after the portion of cottage cheese dumplings with some side salad. We are happy to pay more for good, high-quality food. But I expect to leave a restaurant already halfway full.

The Hopfen&Malz invites you with its authentic ambience. Unfortunately, every step of this restaurant visit was very, very lengthy. (2.5 hours for just the main course + a drink!!) Unfortunately, from the small (basically good) menu, there was little to no availability of the main course (on a Saturday at 7:00 p.m.!). Definitely needs improvement! Service staff was very nice, but absolutely not enough staff..

The price-performance ratio didn't suit us. The salads were very small for the price and my wife also had a napkin mixed in with the salad. As a courtesy, she was given dessert. I wouldn't have paid for the food and as the owner I wouldn't have collected it.

Wir hatten Gestern sehr kurzfristig reserviert für einen Tisch Heute. Da wir schon öfter im Hopfen&Malz waren wissen wir, dass es ganz schönes Glück war. Reservieren lohnt sich, am besten deutlich früher als wir. Warum ist das so? Weil es im Hopfen & Malz einfach klasse ist. Tolles Ambiente, tolles Personal und direkter Blick in die Küche. Fast schon Erlebnisgastronomie! Das Essen schmeckt wie immer super und auch für Veganer ist immer etwas dabei. Nicht nur eine vegane Alternative, sondern immer vollwertige tolle Speisen.

Guter aufmerksamer freundlicher Service, gemütliches Ambiente, gute Qualität der Speisen. Da die Küche hinter der Theke nicht abgetrennt zum Gastraum ist, ziehen die Gerüche in den Gastraum. Die Portionen könnten etwas größer ausfallen, der Espresso war nur ein halber, insgesamt aber ein gutes Restaurant.

Die beste Ente, die ich je gegessen habe! Ein süffiges Bier dazu, was will Frau mehr :) Ist man in Coburg, absoluter Besuch wert! Reservierung empfehlenswert.

Es ist ein tolles Restaurant und wird von 4 jungen sehr angagierten Jungs betrieben. Sie machen ihren Job mit so viel Spaß und Leidenschaft, das erlebt man sehr sehr selten. Das Essen (Vorspeise,Hauptgericht und Nachtisch) und die Getränke (Sprizz, Limonaden und Bier vom Fass) waren ausgezeichnet gut. Reserviert euch unbedingt einen Platz an der Theke. Den Jungs zuzuschauen ist ein Erlebnis. Ich bekam sogar das Rezept vom Nachtisch verraten! DANKE!!

Das Essen war hier tatsächlich das Einzige, was drei Sterne verdient. Es war ganz lecker. Hier zwei Sterne Abzug, weil: Kartoffelsalat mit Pellkartoffeln, die nicht gepellt sind, ist ok, aber nicht mein Geschmack. Oder roher Rosenkohl mit Nudeln ist ähnlich ungenießbar wie völlig verbrannte Kartoffeln. Der Service war unfreundlich, es wurde sich wegen des Essen nicht entschuldigt. Man hat nur zwei Stunden zum Essen, 1h haben wir auf das Essen gewartet, da kommt also keine Gemütlichkeit auf beim Zusammensitzen. Um 19 Uhr wurden wir dann tatsächlich rausbuxiert, weil 19:15 die nächsten Gäste kamen. Es ist sehr wenig Platz im Lokal und man sitzt sehr beengt. Außerdem hatte man keinerlei Chance irgendwo in der Nähe einen Parkplatz zu bekommen. Wir werden das Hopfen und Malz sicher nicht nochmal besuchen.

Gaststätte mit offener Küche, Essen geschmackvoll, Bedienung freundlich und immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen. Leider etwas Fußkalt, aber dagegen kann man ja was machen

Das Essen war gut, wenn auch von der Menge her sehr überschaubar, dass man nicht satt wird. Die Bedienung war freundlich und bemüht. Die Luft in dem Lokal ist allerdings nahezu unerträglich. Nachdem Küche und Lokal ein Raum sind, sitzt man in dem Küchendunst, nach dem Aufenthalt haben wir so sehr nach Küche gerochen, dass man zu Hause erstmal alles waschen muss. Ein absolutes Highlight war der Beilagensalat. Man bekommt ihn in einem Trinkglas (größeres Schnapsglas) serviert. Die Speisekarte kann man durch die Schriftgröße und Beleuchtung im Lokal kaum lesen, die Preise sind versteckt und auch nicht ohne weiteres ersichtlich. Die Reservierung über den Sprachcomputer (per Telefon) war nervig, unpersönlich und ist unseren Terminwünschen bezüglich der Uhrzeit trotz rechtzeitiger Reservierung nicht gerecht geworden. "Kurios" auch, dass man nach 2,5 Stunden aus dem Lokal "komplimentiert" wird, weil der Tisch ein zweites Mal reserviert ist. Da war der gemütliche Abend dahin. So schnell müssen wir da nicht wieder hin. Verstehe den Hype um dieses Lokal nicht.

Schönes Lokal nur schade das man schon beim eintreffen gesagt bekommt wann man gehen muss. D.h. wir hatten schnell gegessen und die Getränke leer getrunken damit wir pünktlich gingen.

Das Hopfen & Malz hat unsere Hochzeitsfeier in Coburg zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis gemacht. Nach unserer standesamtlichen Trauung verwöhnte uns das Restaurant mit köstlichem Fingerfood und Drinks. Am nächsten Tag übernahmen sie das Catering für unsere Hochzeitsfeier, und das Essen war nicht nur wunderschön präsentiert, sondern auch köstlich. Die Drinks von der velo.bar waren vielfältig und qualitativ hochwertig. Die hervorragende Kommunikation mit Lars und dem Team rundete unser rundum perfektes Erlebnis ab. Wir empfehlen das Hopfen & Malz uneingeschränkt weiter! Vielen Dank für alles!

Super lecker, vor allem das Schnitzel mit selbst gemachten Kartoffel-Salat. Das Team ist super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das digitale Bestellen und bezahlen finde ich außerdem sehr angenehm. Ein Besuch im Hopfen und Malz ist ein absolutes MUSS. 100% Weiterempfehlung!

Essen war gut, aber recht übersichtlich. Bei der Preislage müsste zumindest das Platzangebot und der Service besser sein. Werde wohl künftig das Lokal meiden. Preis-Leistung passt da nicht mehr!

In Coburg bin ich beim Wandern auf der Durchreise und habe ein heimisches Restaurant gesucht. Dabei bin ich auf das Hopfen & Malz gestoßen. Es ist ein wirklich charmantes Restaurant hier in Coburg. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und man fühlt sich willkommen. Das Essen schmeckt klasse und auch das Bier kann ich empfehlen.
