Friendly staff. Delicious food.

We were there on the first weekend of September, the last warm one in 2025. The plaice was the best I've ever eaten. The fish platter was also incredibly good. And it was so cozy. We'll definitely be back ❤️

Hoppe's Restaurant - a delight both indoors and outdoors

We went there spontaneously last night and planned to go there this afternoon for dinner and a drink. Last night we sat outside with drinks at a large table with a gas fire in the middle and thoroughly enjoyed the evening, despite the 5-degree temperature. Cozy! This afternoon we had fish and chips, a bowl of fresh salad (peas, lentils, beets, and walnuts), and a redfish with fried potatoes and vegetables. Very tasty, reasonably priced, and highly recommended! The best way to get there is to take ferry 62 from the Landungsbrücken (landing bridges). Enjoy your meal!

We ate there as a family yesterday and were absolutely thrilled. We haven't been to the restaurant in a long time, and we had such a lovely time sitting in the sun overlooking the Elbe. The food was fantastic and the service very friendly. We will definitely be back and highly recommend the restaurant.

The place is well-known—right on Hamburg's Elbe beach with a view of the large container ships. The terrace could be designed a little more lovingly, but the most important thing when eating out is the FOOD ;-)! And I have to say: simply an A+! It was PERFECT, and I speak for my husband, too. Delicious fish specialties that couldn't have been prepared better!

Everything just fits perfectly! Maritime flair, incredibly delicious food, a fantastic view, and very competent, friendly service. I'd love to go back!

We visited this restaurant for the first time today, but certainly not the last. Everything is just perfect. You get the feeling that everything is freshly made. I haven't had such good potato salad in a long time. Keep up the good work!

Nice place in Hamburg to grab a bite to eat and have a German beer. It's located right on the Elbe. You can see giant ships and cruise ships.

We've always enjoyed coming here, but after our last experience, we'll unfortunately never go back. We ordered something to go and asked if my 5-year-old daughter could use the restroom. The employee was very friendly and allowed us to. Since we had just come from the beach, we were barefoot – there was a sign at the entrance saying this wasn't permitted, but my daughter really needed to go and her shoes were far away. So I asked another employee if an exception could be made. She was also understanding and let us through. While we were in the restroom, however, we heard this employee being loudly reprimanded by a supervisor...for her kindness. On our way out, we got involved in an unpleasant argument. I remained calm, but my daughter burst into tears after leaving the restaurant, and our whole day at the beach was ruined. I understand that restroom regulations are often difficult for restaurateurs. But a restaurant that shows no understanding for small children and exposes its employees in front of guests in this way should not be surprised if it finds it difficult to retain both staff and customers.

Very friendly owner, attentive service, and a stylish ambiance. Children are also welcome. The food was delicious. The view—especially outside—is fantastic. I highly recommend a visit.

We ordered cake. It came with apple pie flavoring...very sweet. The cake fork was the cheapest, stamped item, and the edges were still burred. In summary, it wasn't up to the nice ambiance and friendly staff. If you like good cake, you shouldn't go there.

It's actually a tourist restaurant, but it's top-notch. For anyone who loves fish, it's an absolute must when visiting Hamburg. The only downside is that there are a lot of tourists around, which contributes to a correspondingly loud background noise 😉

The food was very good, the service was very pleasant, and the terrace offers a great view. I always say I'm going to the Elbe.

Unfortunately, while we were eating at our table, a vendor selling the street magazine "Hinz und Kunz" persistently begged us for a donation (even after a polite "no, thank you"), which is why I can only give it 3 out of 5 stars. I think this is absolutely unacceptable, it's rude, and the staff should stop it. Otherwise, the food and the service at our table were good.

Sorry, but that was a complete disaster. We had reserved a table for two to eat. So far, so good. After arriving at 2:30 p.m., we first ordered a drink and informed them that we still had to check on the food. We had ordered, among other things, a 1-liter carafe of water, but received a 0.75-liter bottle. So we complained, and it was replaced. Then we waited and waited and waited. The three, in other words, three, waiters kept walking past our table but paid absolutely no attention to us. After 45 minutes of fruitless waiting, we finally ordered the bill. When we then announced during the payment process that we had come for dinner, we were told in a somewhat unpleasant manner that we could have made ourselves known. Sorry, but I expect to be asked about my wishes as a guest, especially since people at the tables around us kept asking if everything was okay. Perhaps it was because we wanted a 1-liter carafe of water for €6.90 to go with our €7.50 glass of sparkling wine, rather than a 0.75-liter bottle of water for €8.50. Conclusion: simply disappointing and never again. A few years ago, this restaurant still put the customer first. Regarding the amount spent per person, all I can say is: too much.

Yes, I definitely want that. We had a lovely table for our large group with this fantastic view of the Elbe River and the large container ships! The fish dishes were all excellent, but "our" waiter topped everything! So friendly and funny! It was simply a pleasure; we all had a lovely evening there and would like to thank you again for the great service and the Helbing...

The starter (fish platter for two) was the Oberhamner. I've never had such a delicious starter. The main course, however, wasn't as good. Homemade herring with lots of bones. I returned it (the waiter was understanding) and didn't have to pay for it. Please make more. My wife's main course (baked potato) was also excellent.

Fish soup, plaice, pike-perch fillet, fish plate - everything was super delicious, with a view of the Elbe and very friendly, attentive service.

We went yesterday, as we have several times before, for a "birthday dinner." Definitely not again, sorry! I didn't recognize Hoppe's! We sat outside – wonderful view! Table: dirty (it had been set up once). The next table was empty and dirty. Bare, sweaty torsos on the way between the Elbe-side restaurant and the restaurant building. It felt like Ballermann! Underscored by the restaurant guests walking around barefoot… The food is still good, but, considering the above-mentioned circumstances, too expensive. My feeling: "make a quick buck." Conclusion: watch your standards. You certainly "put me off"…

Hi, Like every time I'm in Hamburg, I visit Hoppe's Restaurant! This time I was here with two very nice ladies. I've never been disappointed! The service, food, and ambiance were all excellent. The value for money is very reasonable for Hamburg. I'd be happy to come back next time.

As a Hamburg native, I was showing my city to a group of Austrians, and on the first evening we went to Hoppe's Restaurant for dinner. A beautifully set table was set for us; we had tiered appetizers, followed by Hoppe's fish platter. It was so delicious! Everyone was absolutely thrilled. And the service was fantastic, too! Thank you so much, Hoppe team!

The food was very delicious. The Labskaus is highly recommended. The service was friendly and unhurried, despite the large number of people.

The restaurant has a fantastic location and a beautiful view of the harbor. I had octopus, and the potato and garlic mash was amazing! The vegetables were also perfectly cooked.

The flame-grilled salmon from your new menu was absolutely delicious! Big praise also to the friendly and attentive waiter. I come here often and I'm always so happy.

I ate at Hoppe's Restaurant with my family, and as always, we absolutely loved it. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi fillet; it tasted amazing. We'll be back soon!

We were at Hoppes on the summer terrace at 7 p.m. on Friday evening because we were hungry for fish and chips and wanted an Aperol. Unfortunately, fish and chips are only available until 5 p.m., so we only had an Aperol. We hadn't been there for a few days and hadn't even noticed that an Aperol now costs 9.90! I find that more than a little bit outrageous, especially since the quality leaves a lot to be desired. A relatively small glass with little alcohol and little carbonation, basically a lot of water. I have no problem paying more if the quality is good. It's a shame, because otherwise the food is very good and the staff very attentive and friendly. We'll be looking for another location in the future!

Had a good experience dining here. The food and drinks were really delicious. The staffs were nice, and friendly. Seating areas are available indoor, and outdoor (facing the river). The ambiance/atmosphere was nice, with good interior design, and not too noisy. Toilets for customers are available.

We had a delicious, personalized barbecue buffet on the terrace. The quality of the food was very high, and the selection was also good. The service was very attentive. We'd be happy to come back!

Extremely delicious ice cream, friendly staff, and an interesting view of the Elbe River and the harbor. If I ever return to Hamburg, I'll definitely have this ice cream here again (strawberries with ice cream and whipped cream).

Very good food, lots of fish, as you'd expect at a harbor. There's also a good selection of meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. Super friendly and helpful staff. And for me, it's very nice to be able to watch the ships. 😁

Complete disaster: The visit to this restaurant ended at Burger King because the food was inedible and we had almost everything returned. Give this store a wide berth! The only bright spot was the service, the waitress tried to save everything, but unfortunately the food was terrible.

Nice ambience but sorry for 16.80 penne a la aglio which is already spelled wrong on the menu cold warmed penne in a watery broth no taste and totally without love I had to guess garlic and the portion would have been almost enough for a 3 year old

Very good food in a great atmosphere. But the best thing is the great service. Chris in particular is really warm and accommodating. You feel like you're at home - a little short vacation in the middle of Hamburg... Highly recommended

On April 16, 2025 we ate fresh asparagus, hollandaise sauce and ham: super tasty! Asparagus was slightly al dente, not woody, 300g per person was sufficient. Plus the beautiful view of the Elbe

We had a very nice evening in the restaurant this week. The service was extremely attentive and the fish dishes were nice, especially the fish platter was excellent. With a view of the harbor, also with outdoor seating that we unfortunately couldn't use due to the weather, it's a very nice location to have a relaxing evening with good food and drink.

Just had a drink on the terrace. But great nice service. What else you saw was very appealing. Will definitely come again

We ate an excellent lobster soup with crabs and a fish soup in the Hoppe restaurant. The wine with it was also of good quality, Riesling white wine. The service staff was very friendly and the terrace was a lovely place to linger. We'll be back on our next trip to Hamburg!

Unfortunately, the lobster cream soup was a bit too salty, the Dutch herring was very tasty with fried potatoes and apple yoghurt sauce. Waiters were all very friendly.

Hoppe's is an absolute insider tip. It's not just the restaurant itself that is simply unique. The food that came from the kitchen was sensationally good. The service is unbeatably good. All in all, I can recommend this location with a clear conscience 👍🏼

Ate very well. Unfortunately there was very thick fog so you didn't really have a view, the food tore everything out. Very very good

I ordered fries in the little bistro. They were underground. Very poor quality of the fries themselves, not thoroughly fried and only seasoned with salt (no paprika/curry seasoning). Mayonnaise was a waste of resources in packaged plastic/aluminum bags and it wasn't tasty and wasn't enough. Not recommended at all. Then €4.30 for that. Nope!

Drank a mulled wine at Christmas and eat there in the summer.

We were there with the family on December 25th, 2024. The latte macchiato didn't taste good at all, they didn't have enough choice, especially for people who are scruffy, the duck leg tasted like old sneakers, the red cabbage didn't taste good at all and the dumplings tasted like nothing and then there's the price 🤦 I got 75€ for 2 people Paid and for not tasty food the only thing that tasted normal was the Fanta. A couple of the employees were in a very good mood, but maybe they should reconsider Christmas dinner.

One of the best restaurants in Hamburg. The pumpkin soup was outstanding and the fish platter was to die for. Colleagues had the mustard roast and the roulade and were thrilled. The service is very attentive and friendly. The caraway (Helbing) at the end rounds everything off. Highly recommended location with a view of the Elbe.
