Hoppe’s Restaurant in Hamburg

I ordered fries in the little bistro. They were underground. Very poor quality of the fries themselves, not thoroughly fried and only seasoned with salt (no paprika/curry seasoning). Mayonnaise was a waste of resources in packaged plastic/aluminum bags and it wasn't tasty and wasn't enough. Not recommended at all. Then €4.30 for that. Nope!

Drank a mulled wine at Christmas and eat there in the summer.

We were there with the family on December 25th, 2024. The latte macchiato didn't taste good at all, they didn't have enough choice, especially for people who are scruffy, the duck leg tasted like old sneakers, the red cabbage didn't taste good at all and the dumplings tasted like nothing and then there's the price 🤦 I got 75€ for 2 people Paid and for not tasty food the only thing that tasted normal was the Fanta. A couple of the employees were in a very good mood, but maybe they should reconsider Christmas dinner.

Extremely friendly and attentive service. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere in Hoppe's Restaurant is really nice. We had a very nice evening and will be happy to come back.

One of the best restaurants in Hamburg. The pumpkin soup was outstanding and the fish platter was to die for. Colleagues had the mustard roast and the roulade and were thrilled. The service is very attentive and friendly. The caraway (Helbing) at the end rounds everything off. Highly recommended location with a view of the Elbe.

Great location on the Elbe! Excellent service and very delicious authentic North German cuisine! We particularly like that the guests receive such a warm welcome from the owner. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back!

Nice service. The quality of the food actually surprised us. We expected less at such a tourist hot spot. But everything is fresh, including the yogurt cream sauce with apples and onions for the herring. The fried potatoes were already crispy and not greasy. Plus a great atmosphere

Our little family celebration was very successful, everyone felt comfortable! It's best to travel by bus or ferry, bike is also possible.

Just something for tourists. The ice cream parlor wasn't that special. But everything is clean.

We wanted to on Sunday September 1st. Have lunch at Hoppe's on the Elbstrand. We were allowed to freely choose a free seat. Unfortunately it took about 20 minutes until we got the menus. It took another 25 minutes to order the drinks and food. About 20 minutes later the waiter came to us and asked again for our order because he had forgotten to enter it into the computer. That was too much for us, we wasted an hour of our vacation here and left hungry and thirsty.

Absolute recommendation. The location was booked exclusively as part of a company event. The service was outstanding and the food/drinks were great. The rooms are beautiful and the outdoor area is highly recommended. A visit you won't regret.

The entire process, from the online reservation to the visit, was simple, uncomplicated and relaxed. The prices were a bit steep, but the service was incredibly friendly.

Service is amateurish, sitting on the table is not possible. Just like hanging on the tree or the pole there as if some kind of circus were being staged there. Food good, but overpriced. And a different side dish was served than what was on the menu. The exorbitant price of €7 for a short one really shocked me. If you're well-heeled, this shouldn't bother you. The only thing that bothers them is probably the service. Although the food was really good, I can't recommend it due to the unprofessionalism of the service + the outrageous price.

Nice atmosphere, staff okay. There is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to eating. We both had a large salad with fish. Portion small, like a small salad. Simple green salad with some fish. Cheap salad dressing. Wasn't worth the money. It's a shame with this great view.

Terrace with a view of the Elbe traffic and the museum harbor was very relaxing on a hot summer day like today. The green herrings were fried very tasty, the fried potatoes were great and the fresh cucumber salad was great! Service very friendly.

Nice welcome, fast service, very tasty food. I measured vegetarian and was very happy with the taste and the appetizingly prepared curry. 3 companions chose different fish dishes and were also very satisfied. The view of the pier and the harbor was on top.

Wonderful location right at the Ovelgönne museum harbor, delicious fish dishes. Attentive service. Was great on the outside patio.

We had reserved and got a nice seat outside. The waiters were attentive and very nice. Unfortunately the food wasn't that great. I had herring with fried potatoes and tip. It felt like all of the apples that were there were in the apple tree, which was a bit much. The herring wasn't good at all. It didn't have that delicate pink color either, it was more gray and very boney. It's okay that there are some in there, but this was nothing. With the currywurst, there was some spice in it that didn't really fit. The end of the song, we talked about what was going on. The curry sauce and fries were great. As for the plaice, it wasn't the best either, I was probably on a diet... The "on top" wasn't identifiable either, I have no idea whether it was bacon... On the whole, it's a nice restaurant, but I'd rather eat somewhere else.. .. It's a shame, I know that Hoppe used to be really good.

We had a super delicious meal. The children were treated really well by the waiter. He joked, making the waiting time easier for the children. We were sitting on the terrace by the water, where fog was constantly being blown out to drive away the wasps. As an allergy sufferer, I thought it was great and finally felt safe in a restaurant. So we were incredibly satisfied. Everything was delicious and prepared quickly. Will definitely go back next year when visiting Hamburg!

Fries are good, but unfortunately you can't eat them inside despite the 5 euro portion, although there is a corner on the left that is separate from the elegant restaurant, not understood. MY son was very disappointed. It was almost 0 degrees and we stayed there for maybe 5 minutes. I had complete understanding in restaurants. Only 10 euros for 2 portions is a quick, good turnover. If my son didn't love the experience there at the harbor with fries at the end, we wouldn't come back either. Maybe he thinks Pearl's fries are just as good. Just a shame. I take everything back, I didn't know that, thank you very much for the nice reaction. unfortunately only discovered today. All the best, I put everything at 5 stars.

Well, of course it's right at the front....(on the beach)...but are the prices really justified just because of the good location...?!

Great “beach bar”, which offers delicious drinks and desserts and friendly service. As Gats, you were even cooled when sitting because the heaters were also water misters. That was very pleasant in the hot temperatures.

We recommend the restaurant Hoppe's at the Neumühlen pier with a view of the Elbe in the immediate vicinity of the Övelgönne Elbe beach! Nice service, good food, nice view on the terrace but also a great ambience inside the restaurant. The extremely well-maintained, clean sanitary facilities are also important! By the way, the boss is also present, nice and ready for a little chat.

Food great, service flop. The food here is really good, fresh and tasty, not overpriced, I can only say good things about it. AAABER the service...oh dear. As soon as it gets fuller, food is forgotten, drinks are not refilled because no one has time to properly look after the guests, which is a shame. But what's really bad is the attitude of some employees, you immediately feel bad when you ask for a second napkin, that the good guy didn't roll his eyes, that's all. Especially the "younger" smaller man on the terrace has an impossible way of dealing with guests. You don't actually want to come back, despite the really good food. Too bad.

Very good food, with a great ambience, but strange service with its own sense of humor.

We took two portions of fish and chips with us for €9.50 (!!!) per portion. Sorry, but the portions are now really a joke at this price. Even if it is one of THE tourist spots in Hamburg and therefore always a little more expensive But that's really no longer justified. The fish nuggets feel like they're getting smaller and smaller and the fries had an old, fatty taste. The currywurst with fries also costs €9.50 here. Inflation or not, but as a long-time Elbe beach walker, listen to this really bothers me. Too bad...

We wanted a portion of fries without any other side dishes - they said “it's not on the menu, so it's not available.” Strangely, other tables were able to order fries without anything. We then ordered fish n chips which took 40 minutes. The waiter just said a few words... It's nice to sit by the water but the restaurant is not recommended. Food was ok.

Fish was too salty, service was too slow and not attentive - ordered water, got no water. Ordered espresso, got no espresso. And of course too much expensive for all of it.

Despite the stress, we were served very friendly on the terrace today. Thanks :-) The food was very good. The roast is really crispy, the potato soup has a nice, truffley flavor, and the fish and chips are great too. And then this view!

Actually 4 1/2, but you round that up. The food was very solid, the view of the harbor is simply beautiful and the service was extremely positive. In the summer, perhaps with a larger menu, I'd be happy to do it again!

We had dinner at Hoppes again at the beginning of February, as we do every time we visit a trade fair in our favorite city, Hamburg. Service, ambience and of course the quality of the food are, as usual, first class. You always feel like you are in good hands and can relax very well after a day at the trade fair. Sehr schönes Restaurant, direkt an der Elbe gelegen. Die Fischplatte war sehr lecker, wenn auch etwas klein. Der Service war freundlich aber eben auch typisch norddeutsch zurückhaltend.

Waren gestern wieder im Hoppe Essen super. Nette Bedienung vor allem der junge Kellner sehr freundlich und immer einen lustigen Spruch wir sind selten so nett bedient worden. Kommen bestimmt wieder.

Es passt einfach alles. Lage, Qualität der Speisen.

Bedienung und Küchenpersonal sehr freundlich. Hatten Labskaus, der sehr zu empfehlen ist. die Küche war ausnahmsweise bereit, für Vegetarier extra etwas zuzubereiten. Das Lokal und alles "drumrum" sehr sauber.

Used to be a high quality restaurant but prices are now not in line with the quality of the food. Service is hit and miss as with all things in Germany. 14.99 fir a curry wurst, 14 euros 6 fried prawns etc.

Kleines aber Feines Restaurant direkt am Elb-Strand. Super leckeres Essen besonders die Fischgerichte (Typisch Hamburg eben) Service war auch sehr bemüht und freundlich. Man sollte allerdings gerade zur Sommerzeit rechtzeitig Reservieren um einen Platz auf der glaube ich sehr begehrten Terrasse zu bekommen. Hatte einen schönen Tagesabschluss im Restaurant und empfehle es somit an jeden potenziellen Gast weiter. Danke für das gute Essen und den super Wein. 👍

Tolles Ambiente mit Hafenblick. Es gibt leckere Fischgerichte. Allerdings hätte ich für den Preis der Speisen bessere Qualität erwartet. Die Mitarbeiter kamen mir etwas „genervt“ vor. Wir haben gewartet, in der Hoffnung einen Tisch angeboten zu bekommen. Die Mitarbeiter haben uns gesehen, aber sind nicht auf uns eingegangen.

Wir waren gestern am frühen Abend dort und haben Roastbeef und Pannfisch gegessen. Es war sehr lecker. Der Service flink, aufmerksam und sehr freundlich.
