Höhengasthaus Haldenhof in Überlingen

Besuch am 06.06.2026 : Der Rehbraten, der Beilagensalat und der Spargelteller sowie der tolle Erdbeerkuchen mit Sahne danach waren einfach saulecker gewesen und wir waren einige Stunden am Samstag nachmittag dort gewesen bei schneller, fixer u.freundlicher junger Bedienung, und auch bei der Kartenzahlung zum Schluss gab es keinerlei Probleme.... ....einfach nur ein ganz tolles Höhenrestaurant auf über 600m Höhe mit gutem Service, gutem Essen, sauberen Toiletten + gaaaaanz toller Aussicht auf den Bodensee !! Gerne wieder ! Hubert und Frank ;-)

Schönes Ausflugslokal mit tollem Blick auf den Bodensee

Wir haben Kaffee getrunken und Eis gegessen. Die Aussicht ist sehr schön. Die meisten Tische waren reserviert. Die Preise sind etwas gehoben, liegt wahrscheinlich an dem Seeblick.

Möglichst vor 11 ein Getränk auf der Terrasse trinken. Dann wird es voll und der Service schafft es nicht mehr. Man könnte über eine Getränkebar im Garten nachdenken.

Wir waren nach einer kleinen Wanderung zum Essen im Biergarten. Er war gut voll aber auch der anschließende SB Bereich. Nach der Bestellung kam auch das Essen sehr schnell. Hat gut geschmeckt.

Beschwerde über die Kellner: Es wäre wünschenswert, wenn verhindert wird, dass Kassenbons im Außenbereich auf den Boden geworfen werden, da dies bei den Gästen keinen guten Eindruck hinterlässt. Ansonsten waren das Essen und der Aufenthalt sehr angenehm, allerdings sind die Portionen für diese Preise deutlich zu klein. Die Aussicht auf den Bodensee ist hingegen wunderschön.

Tolles Ausflugsziel mit vielen Außen Sitzplätzen im Biergarten. Als Familie super, dass es viele Tische gibt, die direkte Sicht auf den Spielplatz haben. So können die Kleinen klettern und herum toben und man hat alles jederzeit im Blick. Zudem viel Spielzeug sowie zwei Rutschen und Schaukeln sowie ein Sandelplatz mit Sand-Künche vorhanden. Einziges Essen ist leider eher unterdurchschnittlich.

Früher gerne um diese Zeit zum Erdbeerkuchen Essen gekommen. Jetzt nicht mehr zu empfehlen. „Geschmacklos“ obwohl man bereits Kaiserstuhl Erdbeeren hätte einsetzen könnte. Reklamationen interessieren die Betreiberfamilie absolut nicht. Klar bei dem Turistendurchgangsverkehr

Da der Höhengasthof Haldenhof eine eigene glutenfreie Karte hat, ist es für alle Glutener ein Träumchen. Alle Kuchen sind glutenfrei. Es gibt sogar glutenfreies Bier. Auch Schnitzel gibt es ohne glutenhaltige Panade.... Und obendrauf gibt es eine fantastische Aussicht auf den Bodensee. Aber auch wer regulär ist wird hier glücklich

Standort ist schön. Das Essen ist höchstens Mittelmaß. Das Servicepersonal war komplett überfordert aber bemüht.

Toller Biergarten, noch tollere Aussicht, das Personal ist freundlich. Vom Essen allerdings, sollte man sich nicht zu viel erwarten, das ist eher mittelmass, leider.

Herrlicher Biergarten in beeindruckender Landschaft. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns das flotte, freundliche Personal.

Wir waren wegen der teilweise sehr schlechten Bewertungen, sehr skeptisch. Wir haben uns jedoch dazu entschieden, uns ein eigenes Bild zu machen. Wir haben es nicht bereut. Kaum saßen wir, wurden wir gefragt ob wir die Speisekarte möchten und wurden bedient. Sogar die Hunde wurden persönlich begrüßt :) Der Service war die ganze Zeit über super nett und hat uns sogar noch als Geschenk 2 kleine Packungen Haribos gegeben. Das Essen kam zeitgleich, warm und lecker an. Wir finden keinerlei Anhaltspunkte, etwas schlechtes sagen zu können. Wir kommen gerne wieder!!

Ich habe hier schon unterschiedliche Erfahrungen gemacht. Die Aussicht zahlt man hier mit. Mit Kuchen und Kaffee, kann man hier aber nichts falsch machen.

Wir waren auf einem schnellen Stop um was zu Trinken dort und wurden ganz wundervoll bedient. Liegt in wunderschöner Umgebung.

Ein wunderbarer Ort zum Einkehren und Durchatmen. Das Höhengasthaus Haldenhof liegt traumhaft über dem Bodensee und lädt dazu ein, den Alltag für ein paar Stunden hinter sich zu lassen. Man sitzt gemütlich, genießt den großartigen Ausblick, trinkt ein Bier oder einen Aperol mit Freunden und lässt den Abend einfach laufen. Die Küche ist ehrlich, authentisch und genau das, was man sich nach einem Spaziergang wünscht: bodenständig, gut gemacht und mit Herz. Besonders schön ist die Kombination aus gutem Essen, entspannter Atmosphäre und der Möglichkeit, davor oder danach noch einen kleinen Spaziergang zu machen und über den Bodensee zu schauen. Ein Ort zum Verweilen, Genießen und Wiederkommen.

Ein vierer Tisch der gemeinsam bestellt, erhält die 4 Essen mit jeweils 15 Minuten Versatz, bedeutet jeder hat alleine gegessen und die anderen haben zugesehen. (Unprofessionell ohne Ende) Wie so oft, sind die Restaurants in den schönen Lagen unterirdisch, müssen sich keine Mühe geben, denn Laufkundschaft gibt's genug, so wie an der Promenade auch. Ein ganz klares NEIN zum Höhengasthaus Haldenhof!

Die Lage ist natürlich toll, aber bei schönem Wetter auch sehr gut besucht. Sonderwünsche wurden bei uns leider nicht beachetet (z.B. kam der Salat leider mit der Hauptspeise, obwohl extra als Vorspeise bestellt wurde). Qualität war insgesamt mittelmäßig, aber die Preise dafür extrem hoch. Da kann man im Umkreis deutlich besser und günstiger essen.

Herrlicher Freisitz, sehr bemühter Service. Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Käsespätzle waren ein Gaumenschmauß und das Kinderschnitzel war hervorragend souffliert und gut gewürzt. Tolles Ziel nach einer kleinen Wanderung.

Keine Empfehlung! Service war ohne Frage sehr bemüht. Speisekarte sehr vielfältig und teuer. Die Speisen lieblos und ohne Raffinesse. Fertige Röstzwiebeln aus der Packung unterstreichen das trockene Fleisch beim Zwiebelrostbraten (weit von Medium entfernt). Pommes schmecken als wäre das Öl länger nicht gewechselt worden. Nebentisch mit vielen Gräten im Fischfilet und trockenem Reh.

Tolle Aussicht aber bestenfalls mäßiges Essen. Dafür wenigstens teuer.

Also Essen ist echt gut,nur das Steak beim Zwiebelrostbraten ist eher für welche die wenig Hunger haben.Fanden wir jetzt etwas klein und wenig.Deswegen auch ein Stern Abzug. Aussicht ist wunderschön,da man den Bodensee und die Alpen von oben sieht.

Wir sind wieder gegangen da der Kellner 2 mal an uns vorbei gegangen ist ohne uns zu beachten die Tische neben uns wurden bedient obwohl sie später gekommen sind schade der Ausblick ist echt mega

Ganz okay für so ein Ausflugslokal. Wir hatten Rahmbraten mit Spätzle und Salat. Nichts besonderes aber ganz gut, hätte nur um einiges wärmer sein können. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich, das empfinden wir als suspekt. Wie kann man das Alles frisch vorhalten ?

Very nice location with a fantastic view of Lake Überlingen. A great restaurant for day trips. Excellent service and food. I'd be happy to come back.

Too bad. Great view, but today the food and service were poor. Tiny side salad for almost 5 euros, and after the vegan meatballs, which weren't that good, I also felt sick. Overall, it was pretty dirty today. To top it all off, a waiter spit his nose onto a tray and quickly wiped it with the napkin he used to blow his nose.

Completely exorbitant prices for mediocre, poorly presented convenience food. Everything came out of a can! The food was served so staggered that we had to watch each other eat, even though we ordered at the same time. We definitely won't do that again, even though the location is unbeatable. Unfortunately, this is the only thing that worked today.

Ok, the view is nice of course, but the food is mediocre for the price. I mean 12 Eur for a sandwich and 15 eur for a poor salad with literally 1/4 of a tomato + 2 drinks = 40eur. That is just not serious. Not a great place to eat.

Those who can read are not only at an advantage here, but always! I find some of the things written here unbelievable. We booked a guest room for 5 days and 4 nights and are completely satisfied. The price/performance ratio is absolutely top-notch. If you want Instagrammable food and accommodations, you won't get your money's worth here. If you want honest hospitality and super friendly service (from the first coffee in the morning to dessert in the evening), then this is the right place for you. We brought a large black Labrador with us and he was very welcome. There are water bowls everywhere and when you step out in the morning you are right in the countryside. That was important to us. On the first evening we were given a table where we could eat comfortably with our dog (without much traffic). We were given this table for every breakfast and dinner upon request without any problems. The setting was lovingly set (not Instagrammable) and we felt very welcome and seen. The breakfast is plentiful and leaves nothing to be desired. The food itself is good home-cooked food. Considering the size of the establishment and this fantastic vantage point, it's clear that this isn't a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food here is quick and delicious. Anyone looking for Instagrammable Michelin-starred cuisine should go elsewhere. This is where you get traditional gastronomy, and that's a good thing! It's fitting for this location and the quaint restaurant. We'll definitely be coming back here for a vacation.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The Fädlesuppe (a kind of soup) tasted like bouillon cubes, and the chanterelle sauce was pure cream with five chanterelle mushrooms. The service and the view were very good!

In a nearly empty restaurant on a Sunday evening, we were asked for a reservation. The menu is averagely priced. Among the inexpensive dishes, the food was rather limited. The quality for these prices falls short.

The food was good and the location is unbeatable, with a great view of Lake Constance. The service was friendly and attentive. The parking lot isn't that big, but we were lucky.

Several waiters forgot our order, and a drink arrived that we didn't order. I rarely write anything down, but this time it was necessary.

We were here today and the food was good. Because the waitress didn't understand us very well, our daughter's drink was wrong, so she was immediately worried that the food wasn't gluten-free after all. When the salads arrived and the gluten-free dish had special flags, she was so happy and enjoyed it. However, she had a cheese schnitzel, which was also not ordered. I had already finished my meal when the rest of the family got theirs. That was a bit of a shame. It's great that they make so much effort for people with celiac disease. The view is also beautiful. The gluten-free raspberry cake was also delicious. It definitely has the potential for five stars, but the waitresses made too many mistakes, so I can only give it four stars.

Amazing service, super generous staff, great food, super views.

The view of Lake Constance is magnificent. The restaurant is only moderately recommended. The menu is extensive, but not everything is available. High prices and small portions. The service was friendly.

Beautiful location, definitely recommend the beer garden. We were very disappointed with the restaurant; the food was lukewarm, and some of the fish was overpriced for the quality. The menu was far too large, and the food was overcooked.

We've eaten at the restaurant/beer garden twice a year, and the quality has deteriorated considerably compared to the past. The minced steak was a pureed dumpling, the spaetzle were finely chopped in a cold butter bath, the side salad was a miniature from a package, and the Greek salad was swimming in some kind of ready-made salad dressing... Definitely recommended for the view of Lake Constance, and the drinks too, but for something to eat, there are certainly better options in town. We'll avoid the Haldenhof in the future.

Great beer garden with a beautiful view. The service was very friendly and there's a good selection of gluten-free dishes.

After a steep climb from Sipplingen, we arrived at the restaurant with a fantastic view of Lake Constance. There are several nice seating areas, perfect for children. We enjoyed the sunshine and an iced coffee with a treat. There's a striking, old linden tree there.

Service and food were terrible! There were two of us in the less than half-full outdoor area, and after a while, we had to ask for the menu. After ordering, the barely lukewarm starter soup arrived, followed less than a minute later by the main course, which was a bit stressful. We politely asked the waiter to take the main course back so we wouldn't have to eat it completely cold, which was met with unfriendly comments and very reluctant responses. Unfortunately, we had to eat the two main courses, which were also served lukewarm, one after the other. The meat, whether beef or pork, is cooked so thoroughly that the dryness is unparalleled. We waited in vain for an apology the entire evening, so—a first for us—we didn't tip a cent for the unfriendly service.

Even as locals, we regularly visited the restaurant and enjoyed the view. It's always been a busy place, but now it's become a mass tourist destination, which we think is a shame...and unfortunately, the seating and deck chairs take up most of the entire viewing area. The noise level is very high, making it almost impossible to enjoy the view.

First of all, we can't comment on the rooms, as we also live by the lake. We went there for lunch on a Thursday this week. After barely 10 minutes, a friendly young man came by and brought the menus for us to take our drinks. The food was served another 15 minutes later, even though the terrace and beer garden were busy. The food was, as it was many years ago, excellent. The fresh chanterelles, the meat, the soup, and the salad were all very, very good. I would especially like to emphasize the pleasant friendliness of the young man who served us. An all-around wonderful stay. Thank you very much & see you soon!

Very friendly and flexible service. We were there with a school class, which is frowned upon in some places—no problem here. Great beer garden, a nice playground next door, and a fantastic view. The food was very good. We even got a few carafes of apple spritzer on the house ☺️

The view is great, the surroundings are fantastic, too. Top-notch! The food is terrible. This restaurant confirms my belief that I hardly ever eat out in the lake area anymore. Pork steak with croquettes for 25 euros. This pressed meat was swimming in a broth, white and black, croquettes were counted, and the side vegetables were bland and meaningless. I'm appalled that this garbage is being served for 25 euros.

A beautiful spot with a magnificent view. Unfortunately, the service is abysmal. The waiter takes a long time to arrive, and sometimes doesn't show up at all. Other guests weren't served and left. It wasn't possible to order drinks and food at the same time (the ordering process is very complicated). Finally, when paying, we were informed that we could leave a tip. Due to the poor service, we decided not to. This was met with curses. We won't be coming back and cannot recommend this restaurant.

The food was really bad. Creamed schnitzel with mushrooms was served without a single mushroom. The fries were cooked in old fat, mixed with new. Some of the drinks were warm. When we asked about the disappointment, there was no response; we were told to write a review. When we asked what the manager had to say about the missing mushrooms, etc., the only response was that we should pay full price. I've never experienced anything like it. It's a shame; the view was really beautiful. We would have loved to have come back for breakfast and dinner, but I won't be spending any more money here!

Beautiful place, beautiful view, unfortunately bad experience with: cup of soup 7.90 not even a slice of bread with it. Husband coffee with cake. Coffee came, cake not. When asked inside after 15 minutes. cake finally came (dry, old?) When billed, waiter asked for tip. When we did not understand what he meant and then refused, he got very angry, threw dirty dishes on our table from elsewhere and walked away angrily without saying anything. Strange aftertaste rest of day 🥴. Very unfortunate.

The rooms were a bit dated, but they were perfectly adequate for us. With the exception of one service employee, everyone was very welcoming and friendly.

The staff completely ignored us and failed to bring us a menu within 10 minutes. The garden was about 60% full.

This was our second time here. The first time, the service was bad, the food was expensive and didn’t taste good, and the waiter spoke to us in a rude way, like he was doing us a favor. We thought maybe it was just a bad day, so we gave the place another chance and came back just for a beer. But again, we had a bad experience. We waited more than 30 minutes for someone to clean the table and bring a menu. We called the staff a few times, they said “okay,” but no one came. The location is nice, but the service is very bad and the food is not good. A good location is not enough there are many places in Germany with great views and much better service. The staff really needs to learn how to treat guests with respect

Beautifully and idyllic, with a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Constance. Great menu, good prices, and friendly and fast service!

Unfortunately, it wasn't a convincing visit. We were consistently ignored, had to find our own seats, and weren't given a menu even after repeated eye contact. The staff seemed preoccupied with other things. The food arrived quickly, but was neither impressive in terms of taste nor portion size – despite the starter and main course. €72 for two soups, two main courses, and two drinks felt like a rip-off. Unfortunately, we can't understand the many positive reviews. Perhaps the concept was "service and taste for you to decide on yourself" – but it was still too expensive for that.

This beautifully located restaurant, right on the edge of the forest, is perfect for dining or simply relaxing after a walk in the woods. Whether you're a jogger, hiker, biker, or family, there's room for everyone. Dogs are welcome. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside; loungers are also available for relaxing with a cold beer. The view of the lake is breathtaking.

The view is truly stunning and definitely a plus point of the restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit this time was somewhat disappointing in terms of service and organization. There were four of us, and our dishes were served at very different times. For my dish, the side salad arrived well before the drinks, but the Maultaschen themselves only arrived when the others were almost finished. The food tasted okay, but the Hugos we ordered were unfortunately inedible. In the end, we were also charged for a dish we didn't order (€12). Great view, but there's room for improvement in service and coordination.

The second visit was also great! We'd love to come back! We were pleasantly surprised: great service and fabulous homemade cakes made by the owner. The owner is knowledgeable about celiac disease and prepares gluten-free cakes with Schär flour! Also open for coffee!

Beautifully situated mountain inn with a fantastic view. The food is really good and everything comes out quickly. The staff is very friendly. We'd be happy to return.

Absolutely not recommended. Where do I begin? We were there on a Saturday around 6:00 PM, and about seven tables were occupied (beer garden) and three waiters were there, having a pleasant conversation. It took over 15 minutes for us to even be noticed, and that was only because I called our attention. Then we were greeted halfheartedly, and one of us didn't order a drink, which the waiter didn't like at all. From then on, we were treated with nothing but dismissiveness. The food arrived completely out of time. The plates were simply placed in front of us without a word. The food itself wasn't good either. The cream sauce made me feel sick for two hours. Luckily, you can't go wrong with drinks. I don't understand the positive reviews here. Maybe it just wasn't a good day, but we won't risk such a bad experience again.

The food was "okay." However, the waitresses weren't very motivated and didn't seem very happy in their jobs. Furthermore, when there was a leftover, the table was simply cleared without asking if it was eaten.

Anyone who lives in such a beautiful place obviously doesn't have to make much of an effort! Not recommended for breakfast!

A lovely beer garden and terrace. At the end of the grounds is a viewing point offering fantastic views of Lake Constance. There's a self-service area with chairs for relaxing. Service could be improved (requests for more drinks, waiting times for food and drinks).

We really enjoyed the view of Lake Constance. This is a highly recommended destination! The hike was rewarded with a wonderful lunch and delicious apple pie. Fast and friendly service, despite being busy on Mother's Day, and reasonable prices. A real highlight!

We ate here for Mother's Day. The food was very tasty and everything came quickly. Even though there was a lot going on, the waitresses seemed to have a complete overview. Our service was super fast, attentive and very friendly. We would recommend it to everyone and would love to come back again

The Haldenhof is a restaurant with lots of seats and a great view of the lake. The service was polite even if there was a lot to do for the service. The food was ok. My salad with chicken strips (more like medallions) was good.. the chicken schnitzel with a can was good... the spaetzle wasn't that tasty... the cheesecake was really not good, dry, over baked and shriveled (allow me to write this as a former baker and master confectioner) the coffee was delicious.. Prices tend to be in the upper segment for Germany but the costs are also constantly rising for catering companies...

Nice excursion destination with a great view over Lake Constance. Went there for coffee and cake and enjoyed the view. The service was friendly and the apple pie was good.

I can agree with the many previous speakers. At first we were simply ignored for 20 minutes. The first staff member I spoke to just turned her back to me, so I didn't know whether she was listening to me or not. After getting something to drink and eat, things would get much better. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that you can really eat gluten-free here. The gluten-free schnitzel tasted like a normal schnitzel. The food was very good and the portions were sufficient. The children's playground is great. Overall, despite very poor service, recommended. The view is a dream and the facility is also very beautiful. However, after a turbulent May 1st, everything was relatively dirty. The tables weren't cleaned either.

Today in the beer garden: “Can I order something from you?” "No" It's nice that certain traditions last for generations.

We were at Haldenhof today and unfortunately very disappointed. After our arrival we politely asked three times for drinks - but even after an hour and a half nothing came. No water, no wine, nothing. The service seemed overwhelmed and uncoordinated, which is a real shame for a place like this. After such a long wait and without any attention, we left the restaurant disappointed. This is definitely not how you imagine a relaxed visit to be. Unfortunately no recommendation

The location is beautiful, but it doesn't console the aggressive behavior of the host and his wife. We had lunch with the children in the hiking car park and were able to witness how the innkeeper gave in to a complete loss of control. Children scared, never again!

We waited half an hour without being served… then politely pointed out twice that we would like to order. After that we were just ignored. We left at some point and had a delicious pizza right by the lake

Went to the Haldenhof yesterday when the weather was nice. Despite there being a lot of guests, the staff had everything well under control. For such a large restaurant, the food was delicious. Wonderful location with a view of the lake and mountains. Very child friendly with a playground. Enough parking spaces available. We'd love to come back.

Can't understand the bad reviews regarding the service. Despite the beer garden being full, our waiter was attentive and friendly. Food was tasty but not a highlight. Beautiful beer garden with a fantastic view of the lake.

We had lunch with 9 people in the best spring weather and were served quickly and friendly. The food was very tasty.

We ate here as a family of four during Holy Week. And first of all: We only had good experiences that day at the Höhengasthof Haldenhof. We were there right when the restaurant opened at 11:30 a.m. and were immediately greeted in a friendly manner by a male waiter. We took a little time to study the menu, but then ordered quickly - with children, sometimes every minute counts. The drinks came very quickly, the food order was also taken competently and we even received a reference to the daily menu with a corresponding recommendation. The food for the four of us was also brought quickly at the same time. The portion for the adults could have been slightly larger, but they were full at first, the children's schnitzel portion was generous. In terms of price, eating out is no longer something you can do twice a week for a normal earner, but the prices aren't exorbitant for home-style cooking either. You can argue about the rustic guest room and the somewhat outdated toilet if you really want that. This didn't bother us because everything was basically clean. The large number of seats suggests that you have to take waiting times into account, but the large number of locals and out-of-towners shows the attractiveness of the place - and the fantastic view is free. Mega! We would come again!

We also ate at Haldenhof, really great location, but the service is a disaster, food acceptable, but there is better.

Bad service There were four of us in the Haldenhof. Two of us ordered an asparagus toast. This was served cold. We complained and within 3 minutes the two identical pieces of toast came back from the kitchen warmed up. The waiter didn't know which plate belonged to which guest. Unfortunately only one of the toasts was hot. The other still cold. We had to complain again. The toast was reheated and came back from the kitchen in a deplorable condition but still hot. When we paid we asked the waiter why no one apologized to us... he grumpily mumbled that he had apologized and left the table complaining angrily. I complained again at the counter that I had never experienced such poor service. Here the boss just mumbled a quiet apology. We have never experienced such poor service. We have no understanding whatsoever for this. Every euro was overpaid

The main service was friendly and competent. The other a Chaya…. The food was fine, but for the price the expectations were much higher.

Great inn and very nice view of Lake Constance

Have been here a few times, great view. Prices performance good. The swing is very nice.

I, too, agree with previous reviews. Beautiful view, unacceptable behavior from the waiters. After a hike, we understandably wanted to move from a shady table to a sunny one, as there were enough seats available, and we informed the waiter. We were then rudely reprimanded in front of all the guests, saying that this was not possible. After some discussion, we paid for our drinks and moved seats. The next waiter then told us that there was no self-service here. It's a shame that a long-established inn is damaging its reputation with such staff.

Great view, good food. What more could you want?

Wir hatten einen Tisch für 6 Personen reserviert. Sind freundlich empfangen worden. Bestellung direkt aufgenommen und Essen kam innerhalb von 20 Minuten. Schlachtplatte war super und große Portion. Preislich mit 19,80 auch echt top. Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und die Kellner waren freundlich und entspannt. Kann überhaupt nichts aussetzen. Jederzeit wieder!

As all the predecessors have already described. The space and the view is beautiful, but the waiters are very unfriendly. No smile, no thank you, the bill was thrown soggy on the table. We didn't feel very comfortable.
