I ate there twice and both times were bad. Once I was kicked out because my time was up, and another time my order was wrong and the food I ordered was too salty.

The portion size was shockingly small – we told them so small, that they were so full that they left nothing behind. (The photo had to be removed from the table.) The portions were shockingly small. 😱 The eggplant and cowpeas were so small I almost thought they were leftovers from someone else's table. It was outrageous. When the food arrived, my friend and I directly commented, "So little!" The waiter just walked away as if he hadn't heard us. Since we had to rush to the airport after finishing our meal, we didn't argue, but it was still outrageous.

Very good traditional food, very spicy though haha Service is great, but they are very full and in a hurry. Pay attention to the accepted payment methods and card brands. I suggest to make a reservation before getting there.

Recommended Chinese restaurant with traditional dishes and an interesting menu.

I ordered grilled fish based on a recommendation, but I can't recommend it. 1. It was fried, not grilled. 2. The fish skin was incredibly salty, and the fish had no flavor at all. 3. When it was served, they told me it needed to be cooked before eating. There was some standard seafood. I took a bite of a scallop, and it was barely cooked. Another was cooked from start to finish, and still not cooked through. 4. Some of the shrimp were stale and mushy. Some of the clams were still open and rotten. For nearly 60 yuan, the price is an insult. When I mentioned it when I paid the bill, the checker just laughed and said grilled fish is just average anyway... 😡 There weren't many people at lunch, but someone who seemed to be one of the waiters was talking loudly to a table nearby, complaining about someone's security camera being broken and losing money. They were talking so loudly that we couldn't hear a word they were saying. Sir, please don't write random reviews!

One of the best chinese restaurants in Frankfurt. They specialize in spicy food, but without a doubt the best item on the menu are the deep fried beef shanks (See Photo, already half eaten). I bring all my out of town friends here and they are always love it.

Positive: - Dan Dan noodles were very tasty - Kung Pao chicken was tasty (but a bit inauthentic, too sweet) - I also liked the pork belly - Unlimited rice is available for refills for €1 Negative: - The cucumber salad is nothing special for €8.80. It just seemed like cucumber and oil to me; I couldn't really taste the Szechuan peppercorns in the oil. - Kung Pao was neither spicy nor did it have the citrus flavor of Szechuan pepper, and it was very sweet. Asians might get more authentic versions than Europeans. - Service was friendly but understaffed. We were there on a weekday, and it was quite hectic. - Prices generally very high, in my opinion a bit too high for what's offered. - A bit too loud inside, in my opinion.

It's too oily, and my stomach will feel uncomfortable for several days after eating it. The waiter is the most sarcastic. If you don't give a tip of more than 10 euros, don't come. 0 service

The food can be described as authentic Sichuan cuisine. (2022) The staff is nice, friendly, and efficient! Spicy dishes with cold green tea are a perfect combination. After the waitress learned it was my birthday while paying, she gave me a pot of birthday noodles on behalf of the restaurant! Even though I was already full, I was very happy about it, and it tastes absolutely delicious! Thank you so much for that! Unfortunately, the food is no longer up to a good standard these days. The last visit in 2024 was nothing but disappointing. Never again.

Remember to pay in cash; many restaurants offer discounts when using WeChat. Not only did they not offer a discount, they even added an extra 0.20 to the exchange rate. They also gave us an hour because they ran out of seats. We agreed and quickly ordered. But the last dish arrived ten minutes before our order was due. Five minutes later, they kept coming back to remind us to wait. I wanted to flip the table.

The payment experience completely ruined what could have been an enjoyable visit. *We were misled.* 😒 The restaurant only accepts EC cards, which I had saved in my Apple Wallet. However, when I first tried to pay, the card wouldn’t load. My husband then went to find an ATM to withdraw cash. Shortly after he left, I managed to load the card and was ready to pay. But the waitress lied to me. She claimed that payment was only possible with a physical card ???!!! I found this odd, as I’ve never encountered such a restriction before. When I questioned it, she began giving inconsistent excuses to prevent me from paying digitally. I insisted on using Apple Pay. Of course, it worked perfectly. I paid with my EC card via Apple Pay. But by then, my husband had already returned with cash, making the whole ordeal a frustrating waste of time!!! It honestly makes me wonder: Are you trying to avoid taxes by pushing customers to pay in cash?👎👎👎

Great place, tasty food, moderate prices

The best Szechuan cuisine in Frankfurt, in my opinion. Everything is well seasoned. The place is huge, you can sit anywhere. Delicious!

Two of us went to Höfchen for dinner this evening. The welcome was very warm, and that continued throughout the ordering of food and drinks. We had two beef dishes and a wanton and cucumber starter. All the dishes were very authentic. We were thoroughly satisfied and would happily come back for dinner.

This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Germany. We went there for a Saturday's dinner, and the portions were smaller than usual, spiciness was reduced and the quality of the meat felt a bit different. We were all disappointed as we were all so hyped up about the food.

I've been here twice and I think the taste is okay. It's not a very authentic Sichuan cuisine. As someone from a spicy-eating province in China, the boiled spicy chicken is really not spicy and a bit salty. It may have been modified based on German tastes. Every time there are so many people coming, you have to wait for a while even if you make a reservation, and you have to leave when the time comes, so it is not suitable for a business dinner. The price/performance ratio is also average.

A very Chinese place. With very authentic Sechuan food. Be careful when ordering spicy food as it is really spicy and not Western European light spicy kind. You may need to book in advance as the place is very well frequented by Chinese. This can be clearly seen in the structure of the menu, which has longer descriptions in Chinese then in German. It is very useful just to ask the service person what actually the food is all about as pictures and German descriptions are not directly related to the food on the plate. Service is mostly prompt but not overly friendly. Still if something goes wrong it is solved fast and very efficient which makes the experience positive. Enjoy possibly one of the best China restaurants in Frankfurt.

Delicious food, attentive service

Authentic Sichuan food (spicy thanks to the chili and Sichuan pepper)! Always busy - reservation is recommended.

We had a reservation for two, looking forward to a nice evening. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, however, the table they had reserved for us was located in a secluded closet space next to the main restaurant, which was ugly and cold. When asking for a proper table that was actually in the restaurant, they were rude and did not accommodate. When we then decided to leave, they were even more rude. The food may be good – we wouldn't know – but don't reserve for two people only, or they might put you in a stuffy, neon-lit version of Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs.

Finally! A Chinese restaurant where the elegance of interior design does justice to the quality of the food. Quite a few design choices appeal to me. Allow me to name a few highlights (with delightful nostalgia): ⭐️The chairs. Note the curved splat (the vertical center piece of the back support) and the curved crest-rail (the top horizontal piece of the back frame). The unique shape of the crest-rail earns the chair its nickname, the Official Hat Chair, for its resemblance to the winged official’s hat worn during the Ming dynasty. ⭐️The eight-immortals table. The type of square table that traditionally seats two on each side is designed to seat 8, hence the name, Table of Eight Immortals. My grandparents had a worn out one whose age nobody could tell. Seeing a roomful of such tables was an emotional moment for me. ⭐️The long wooden benches. The simplicity and humbleness of the benches stand in contrast to the elevated status of the Official Hat Chair. They give a nod to the name of the restaurant, Höfchen. ⭐️In German, Höfchen is a generic term for any little court or yard. The Chinese name, Xiao Yuan Ba, however, is richer in its cultural connotation. It immediately places the kitchen in the southwest region of China, in the Chengdu area. The word Yuan Ba is simply not used in my hometown area in the Southeast or anywhere in the North. Not even in provinces squarely in the South. The name calls to mind a sun-drenched outdoor space surrounded by rustic walls and full of jolly sounds of eating, drinking and casual banter. A community space.

We went today after a 4hrs. drive to Frankfurt for vacation. We are a big fan of asian/chinese foods that we know if its of quality or not. We have high hopes since they have good reviews. But we were greeted by a luke warm unsympathetic young server/waitress. Our order came, and it was my first time to eat a Glassnudeln with only cabbage as an ingredient, like how? Mind you, it was like a plate of Cabbage with a few strips of nudeln in it. The other Meat that we ordered was all bones and the soup has a strange taste that made our tongue itchy, in which we were not able to finish eating it. I dont know if because the reastaurant is in Frankfurt but i find the Quality POOR in comparison to what we had to pay, it was waaay EXPENSIVE with Low food quality and MEDIOCRE service 👎

As authentic as it can be. Big portions and delicious. Ordered 5 dishes and 1 cold dish. What make the highlight of the meal are the garlic prawns which is cooked right in front of you, the mapo toufu which has a nice blend of black bean sauce and is not overwhelming with the numbness nor spicy and the green pepper fish which has nice tender fish slices with a nice spicy kick. Though the restaurant charges €1 for each diner, the rice is free flow. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Will come back again.

The attitude of the waiter is really rubbish

I had high expectations based on the many good reviews when I was here for the first time, but unfortunately they were not met. Nice ambience. The food is authentic, but I personally think there are better ones in Frankfurt. The ribs and pork belly were more of a disappointment. But the dishes are nicely presented. Reservation recommended.

Now, you have to pay 1 euro per person for rice... And you have to order according to the number of people... The portion size has been reduced a lot, and I paid to eat it, but I saw them rehash the rice... It was delicious, but it was very disappointing.

I was in the courtyard again a while ago. This is probably the hottest Chinese restaurant in town. If you don't try to get a table days/weeks in advance, you have no chance of getting in, at least not before 8 p.m. And, this should be said, if you can't handle spicy food or don't like it, you should give this place a wide berth. But for everyone else it is a pleasure without limits. The menu is extensive and extremely varied. During our visit, the scallops were the absolute highlight, also in terms of price. Not spicy but definitely recommended. You simply have to try them. But the beef in the small Dutch oven and the baked, stuffed aubergines with sweet and sour sauce are also really recommended. Of course, that doesn't mean that vegetables and many other things aren't recommended. But with two people, the number of dishes that come to the table is of course limited. However, the baked chicken with chile on the side was a bit dry - but that could also have been because it came at the end and we weren't really hungry anymore. The majority of this portion was then taken away and gave us another small, enjoyable memory of that evening a few days later.

Simply a top address! The Hesse is known for the belittling diminutive suffixes: Fettnäpfchen instead of Fettnapf, little plate, little pot, little lid..... However, the courtyard is actually a small courtyard where there are a few tables in the summer. There is no village linden tree or cowshed, no fireplace inside, etc., but authentic Szechuan (Sichuan) cuisine is served. In a "cross-cross street" to Fressgass, not easy to find; You first have to pass three cult bars (BB-Bar, Apfelwein-Klaus - which didn't survive Corona -, Buffalo) to find the courtyard. The drinks menu is small, wine only in bottles. We therefore chose a bottle of Paulaner wheat beer and a bottle from the Chinese Tsingtao Brewery, which has been brewing according to the German Purity Law since it was founded in 1903. The most interesting thing is the "homemade wine spritzer", which tasted like wine and a little like the stalk of lemongrass. Above all, it didn’t “go crazy”. The short corridor to the men's toilets is clearly visible; the women first have to find their way through a small labyrinth behind the storage room. The dishes on offer are sensationally delicious and really comparable to the photos on the menu. Szechuan (Sichuan, Western Chinese) cuisine uses pickled vegetables, garlic, Chinese cabbage and bamboo shoots and is known for its spicy preparation. It is considered to be the only one in the world that combines all available pepper-like spices in one dish. We've been here about 10 times, as a couple or in larger groups (the round table is a good place to sample the diverse selection). Today I was once again absolutely delighted with fried eggplant, braised pig's trotters (with bones) and strips of lamb with onions, cumin and lots of fresh coriander.

I would like to ask my Chinese friends who have dined here before. When dining at his home, when business is good, are you often urged to end your meal on the grounds that you have to reserve a table? I encountered a similar situation again today. Before, I would cooperate and end it as soon as possible. However, being easy to talk to does not mean that the store can make endless and excessive demands! I can understand that restaurants like to turn over tables quickly to make more money. But today we are in a special situation, and even after explaining, we are still being urged. The best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to in Ppu...!

The food is very authentic and tasted excellent. The restaurant deserves the very good rating and you can tell from the Asian guests, who are conspicuously represented here, that the dishes are traditional. Great menu with a large selection of specialties, some of which might seem foreign to us Europeans. But I recommend just trying everything.

The service is so bad, as if I owe them money, I won't take customers back again, and the food is just so-so.

The food was great authentic Chinese kitchen. They offer a variety of dishes of which we tried 5 different ones. They were all very good. The atmosphere is quite relaxed. While arriving right on time for our tablewe had to wait for 15 minutes to get seated as it was very busy. All fair and square. However, it then took another 25 minutes until we were able to order. The staff seemed to be a bit unorganised. We ordered 6 different of which one took over 30 minutes longer to arrive. We thought it had been forgotten and were okay with it. When it arrived we were already done eating basically and didn’t need our side vegetables anymore. When it came we stated this which resulted in the waitress to be very annoyed and stomping off. It has not been listed on the bill, which was good to see. Payment is only possible with cash or German EC cards so you cannot pay with MasterCard or Visa etc.

Eat like you're in Mainland China. Very tasty, authentic and prepared with a lot of love. Very chic and absolutely elegantly furnished. Warm climate and ambience. Highly recommended. Always my pleasure.

Get ready for some authentic (and spicy) experience The place conveys a very authentic vibe. The options on menu are really very particular and not to be found in typical Chinese restaurants. Unfortunately, I have never had such bad Chinese food as I did in this restaurant. Everything was inedible except for the rice. The spare ribs consisted only of bones, cartilage and gelatin, with almost no meat. The pork belly was soggy, unfortunately not crispy and poorly seasoned. The beef with chili oil was so spicy that I was full after just two spoonfuls and everything was burning. You probably have to be Chinese to appreciate this cuisine. The service is quick, very nice and attentive. For €3.50 a cup of jasmine tea seems very bland. Sorry, but we won't come back and would rather walk 50 meters further to Madame M.

This restaurant specializes in authentic Sichuan cuisine and offers a lively, bustling atmosphere typical of a true Chinese dining experience. The clientele is predominantly Chinese, which is always a good sign of traditional, genuine cooking. When I dined here, the service was quite chaotic and slow, but to be fair, the restaurant was extremely busy that evening. The dishes were all very tasty, though I must admit the portions felt a bit small, as much of the plate was taken up by decorative spices that weren’t meant to be eaten. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I will definitely return!

Delicious Sichuan restaurant in the middle of the city. 90% of the guests are Chinese. There is a star deduction for the sometimes arrogant service at the entrance and for the poor payment options (no Visa and Master Card), only cash and EC card

Was turned down service as restaurant doesn’t take visa, Mastercard or American Express cards. It’s quite ridiculous in 2024. I am a lone traveller in Germany for one night so I carry no cash.

The food itself is good, ⚠️however the service is terrible⚠️... a shame, because the good food didn't actually deserve such a 1-star review. Now we come to the problem: I specially ordered eggplants without meat, which the young waitress here also confirmed. And what happened next? ??Eggplant with minced meat... When we asked the waitress about it, she seemed very annoyed, apologized half-heartedly and offered to take the dish back (it will probably be thrown away straight away). Then I eagerly waited for my second vegetarian dish: the vegetable broth with tofu. When it came to the table I immediately noticed a strong smell of pork bone broth. When asked, the waitress immediately denied it and said that it was vegetarian... quite an outrage! Only after further communication did she agree to change the dish, but her attitude really irritated me. She then took a little more time in the kitchen and then slowly came back at some point. So good food in itself, but NOTHING for VEGETARIANS!!! It feels like there are NO VEGETARIAN dishes AT ALL…

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews, but I was sorely disappointed! Terrible service! The staff was rude and inattentive because we couldn’t speak German as tourists?! We had to wait for ages to get our food, and when it finally arrived, it was cold, poorly cooked and lacked taste ! they barely apologized and did nothing to compensate for the incident. Unacceptable!

The service is terribly bad. My little son had a stomachache when we were in the restaurant. After explaining to the waiter and asking for a cup of hot water, I was rejected. I was suggested to order a cup of tea and throw the tea bag away, in order to get a cup of hot water for my son. It’s so ridiculous and disappointing! We drove here from Wiesbaden and tried to call several times on the way, but there was no answer. Arrived at 1:10 p.m. and we were sent away in an extremely unfriendly manner, even though the lunch break doesn't start until 2 p.m.... Every time I come to Frankfurt, I take the opportunity to eat here. I particularly recommend the boiled beef and spicy chicken. The Sichuan chef here is authentic and the ambience is also very authentic. It is suitable not only for meetings with friends, but also for formal morning invitations. I hope the restaurant maintains its standard and portion sizes. If you want to park you can park on the street next door, but sometimes you have to be lucky. If you come here by public transport or train, it is extremely convenient.
