The Hochstapler is an excellent place for burgers. The portions are generous, the flavor is top-notch, and the value for money is absolutely spot on. I'd especially like to highlight the service: very friendly and courteous. My Long Island Iced Tea was a bit too sour at first, but after I mentioned it, I immediately got a new one and an apology – perfectly handled! A truly fantastic place that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

The finest food, super friendly service, pleasant ambience

If you're dining with nine people for over €350 and then get reprimanded for the noise level, this place isn't appropriate. Unfortunately, we couldn't leave the restaurant because we shouldn't neglect the main course. It's also not appropriate to let the staff assess this situation. Clearly, it's completely overwhelming. For us, it's clear: no more visits to this place.

Beautiful view of Münster harbor. The staff was very friendly. The burgers were delicious and the meat was very juicy. The sweet potato fries were some of the best we've ever eaten. They also had a good, unique selection of dips. I can recommend this burger place to anyone.

I was there yesterday, July 19, 2025, with my daughter, son-in-law, and dog on the outdoor terrace. The welcome was friendly and the service was quick. My dog was immediately given a water bowl, drinks arrived quickly, and the food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and asked questions; they even gave the dog treats upon request. As for the ambiance, I can only comment on the outdoor dining area, and it was good; you could see a bit through the window, which I found cozy. I would go back in a heartbeat if I didn't live almost 150 km away.

I'm a bit torn. The staff was really nice, and the burger was good, too. However, I think €15 for the burger is a lot of money, plus fries at €4.90 and two sauces totaling almost €22...

There were three of us sitting outside by the harbor – a really nice spot. The service was friendly and quick. I had the Little Italy Burger: super delicious, a great combination of chicken, mozzarella, and pesto. The fries with lemongrass and lime mayo were also great. Dessert (hot fudge) – wow. Warm, sweet, crunchy, perfect. Great selection, prices absolutely fair. We'll be back!

Dear team, we wouldn't come again because neither the food nor the drinks impressed us. The server was listless and disinterested... We had burgers. Of the three burgers, one wasn't bad at all, the other two (MS Carolina and a vegan) were inedible. The fried gherkins were also inedible. The drinks (rhubarb spritzer and two mojitos) were prepared with total carelessness. The mojitos had two ice cubes instead of crushed ice. The taste was also strange. The kids' plate had 4!!!!!! chicken nuggets and 10 fries. Truly sad...

We ate there for the first time today. The staff was extremely friendly and quick. The surroundings and decor (we sat outside) were also really nice. The burger was delicious, with a really good honey BBQ sauce. Only the fries were a little under-salted, but that wasn't a big deal considering the burger was so good. All in all, we were very satisfied, especially with the service (thanks for that!). We'll be back.

Mega location, great service and food is delicious

We were visiting the Münster and visited this imposter for the first time based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the visit was a complete disappointment. The burgers and salads lacked any pizzazz, were mediocre in quality, and were overpriced. You can easily find better burgers elsewhere, and at much fairer prices. The Hugo as an aperitif was simply sour, and even the subsequent "improvement" with elderberry syrup couldn't improve it. The onion rings were seasoned with curry, which rather detracted from the taste. It's a shame about the visit and the money, but we'll eat somewhere else next time.

My burger was very good. The chili cheese fries were not good. The cheese sauce was floury/lumpy and had little cheesy taste.

The name says it all – mediocre to bad food at overpriced prices. This was our first and last time here. Unfortunately, we didn't like the food at all (of course, that's always a matter of taste). But offering a small burger without any side order for €16 is really borderline. The same goes for a bottle of water, which costs €7.80 there. That can't be justified, even with the best will in the world. Especially since the quality of the food was anything but exceptional. We also ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail, which was absolutely undrinkable. Unfortunately, it was far too sour. We asked the waiter for a new one, or rather, pointed this out. The new drink, which he returned with a short time later, wasn't really (if only slightly) better, and we still couldn't finish the cocktail and ultimately left it (almost full!). That's completely unacceptable.

Eating there was an experience. The starter, main course, and dessert were an absolute delight. Everything was freshly prepared. A great location by the canal. We'll definitely be back. Simply brilliant 😀

According to Google Maps, it's open until 2:00 a.m. We learned from the waitress at our table that the kitchen closes at 11:00 p.m. very disappointing

We visited the restaurant with three people on a Saturday evening. First, the positives: - Nice location. From the comfortable leather sofas, you have a beautiful view of Münster's city harbor. In summer, you can sit on the covered outdoor terrace. - The drinks menu is extensive; we had beer and two cocktails that truly deserve the name. - We had a reservation and arrived about 20 minutes early due to bad weather. Nevertheless, we were shown to a table after a short wait. Now, the negatives: - I won't start by saying that a cheeseburger without any sides shouldn't cost €15...most similar "hip" restaurants are in a similar price range. However, the burgers are carelessly thrown together and drenched in far too much sauce, making it difficult to tell the individual pieces apart. The meat patty is bland in flavor and quite small for the price. We had the burgers cooked medium-rare and, with three people, had stomachaches the next day. - As a side dish, we had chili cheese nuggets, which didn't deserve the name. They came in a modest portion, tasting more like crispbread than chili cheese. Top-notch supermarket quality, microwaved. The nuggets didn't taste like they'd ever seen a deep fryer or a chili. - After placing our order, the burgers arrived extremely quickly. We had our food on the table about five minutes after ordering. Whether that speaks for high-quality cuisine (see above) is up to each individual to judge. Otherwise, the service was mediocre and uninvolved. Conclusion: We won't be returning.

The burger I ordered was unfortunately not even average in terms of taste

We usually always make reservations, but spontaneous visits are usually no problem, depending on the time of day and the time of year. It's also possible to order food for pickup via Wolt (I think). Upon arrival, you'll be greeted very warmly in the entrance area on the canal side and then shown to your table, or to a free table without a reservation. Seating is available both inside and, in the summer, outside on the two-story terrace. If it's a bit cooler, you can ask for a blanket. Ashtrays are also available if needed. As for drinks, soft drinks, homemade lemonades, standard beers, wine, and cocktails are available. No one will go thirsty here. The burgers and side dishes are mid-range in price, but you also get a lot for your money. Both the portion size and the quality are second to none. The cheese, for example, comes from the Hafenkäserei in Münster, and the other ingredients are also mostly sourced locally. As for the food on offer: there are all sorts of burgers (gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan if needed), potato fries, sweet potato fries, nuggets, and much more. It's definitely worth taking a look at the menu (it's available online in German and English). The ambiance is great, and especially in the summer, sitting on the terrace in the evening after a really good meal is incredibly pleasant. When it's busy, the noise level is naturally a bit louder, but still far from that of a construction site or a nightclub. Otherwise, the restaurant is tidy and clean. The staff are very friendly, seem extremely satisfied with their work, and will go the extra mile. This is reflected in the quality of the food and service. We've eaten at Hochstapler several times and would definitely come back.

Great location, good concept, interesting map. We were promised more of the food. Unfortunately everything isn't so great. Fries rather cold, maple fries with bacon a bit disappointing. Instead of crispy bacon or fried bacon crumbles, just bacon with maple syrup on it, done. Burger relatively cold. Shrimp at Surf and Turf could have been fried a little more. Overall, the price-performance ratio is not right. It's a shame actually.

After a shopping trip through Münster, we stopped at the Hochstapler - and were not disappointed. The burgers were really tasty and the service was consistently friendly and attentive. Unfortunately there was only one seat left at the high table as all the other tables were reserved - but that didn't detract from the overall impression. Solid concept, good quality, pleasant atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

We were in impostor as a group, the preliminary discussions were so friendly and uncomplicated, then everything worked out perfectly: nice service and the food came quickly for all 80 people. As a vegetarian, I would particularly like to emphasize that you have a good choice. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. So I can recommend it without reservation

A good burger restaurant in a great location along the river with good opportunities for outdoor beer and trudging after eating. A very open and airy restaurant with dark and quiet furnishings and decor. Good and fresh burgers with a good selection for vegetarians and vegans, as well as very crispy and tasty fries. All in all a great visit!

Manageable portions at exorbitant prices. Staff is overwhelmed and first has to ask what an aperitif is! Discretion is also a foreign word. We (four people) would be invited. When the inviter wanted to pay, the waiter gave him the bill and at the same time said the bill amount out loud. Sorry, but a no go!

We sat outside on a somewhat cool summer day and it was still very pleasant. There are heaters and blankets. The lemonade was very tasty and the burgers and sweet potato fries too🍔the “normal” fries were ok. The service was nice and friendly and accommodated special requests without any problems😊 I would like to come back again and try out the menu even more😍

As a queer couple, we were stared at all the time by the waitresses (we've never experienced that before), burgers didn't taste like €5 after a maximum of €5, and the fries were drier than desert sand. I have no idea how this will hold up, it can only be due to even worse competition.

We spontaneously got a place without a reservation. About the ambience: Nicely decorated restaurant with friendly, relaxed staff. The burger was excellent and also humane, but quite expensive for the size. We ordered the burger without onions and sauce, which was done correctly, but the salad was also left out, which was undesirable. When asked, they apologized and brought a salad. All in all, a good recommendation!

Without a doubt Münster's best burger joint! The burgers impress with high-quality ingredients and perfect coordination. The fries are also available in original and very tasty variations. The beautiful ambience at the harbor completes the experience. The only point of criticism: The house lemonades seem a bit uninspired - in my opinion, the iced teas are clearly the better choice.

Very tasty burgers 🍔 in a great ambience right on the Mittelhafen. The interior is tastefully chosen and very comfortable. The light is pleasant and the music is not too loud. A mini-mini minus point because, for example, the edge of a wine glass was not clean and the cutlery was not added after the starter had been cleared away. What I didn't know, as someone who wasn't experienced in impostors, was that the burgers come without a side dish. Asking would have been great.
