A not very big restaurant, placed just outside of Kaiserburg castle walls. Nice arranged, in a rustic style.

Well how should I say? A real witch's house couldn't be better.

Great restaurant at the back of the Kaiserburg I went to this restaurant for dinner with my girlfriend during a holiday in Nuremberg. The venue is located at the back of the Kaiserburg at the end of the Vestnertorbrücke. Outside there is a large garden with numerous outdoor tables. The inside is quite large but dining outside is much more impressive. I had the Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut accompanied by a medium local beer. I found everything very tasty and substantial. The service is fast and the prices are honest. Recommended for the excellent typical Bavarian products.

Very nice, rustic inn right next to the imperial castle. The service was great and very quick. We had the bratwurst trilogy, the price was more than reasonable, the food was beautifully presented and we enjoyed it very much. There is also a great selection of draft and bottled beers.

This is no longer what it used to be

Rude and unprofessional staff. Beer at room temperature on a 33°C summer day is unthinkable, especially for a country like Germany that knows beer much better than many others. I point out to the very arrogant waiter that my beer isn't fresh enough... he touches my beer mug, takes a look and says to me: "You've drunk almost half, I don't care... it is." no reason to change it.” What???? Admittedly, I only took one sip and it made me gross because it was really warm and all the foam had disappeared by now, leaving my glass feeling like three quarters. He turned around and walked away ignoring me. In my house they say: “The only thing worse than a warm beer is a cold woman.”🤭 Even if I had been given it as a gift, I wouldn't have drunk it, let alone if I had to pay €5 for it. I went to the bar and asked for another one, preferably a cold one, and the nice thing was that I ended up with 2️⃣ beers on mine Billed, a hot one, which I had never had before, and a cold one. Madhouse stuff!!! However, never again! Very poor service and no respect for customers.

It's perfect for watching the castle, sitting down, resting, eating snacks, and enjoying a beer. When you sit down, a waiter comes and asks about the menu. You can try Nuremberg sausages.

In itself a very nice and well-located beer garden at the foot of the castle. Very nicely done. Only the food and the price-performance ratio are not particularly convincing. You pay €16 for a plate of bread dumplings with chanterelles and there are two tiny, golf ball-sized dumplings on top. You definitely won't get enough of it and for €16. The Schäufele costs €20 and comes with a (!) slightly larger dumpling. The sauces from the Schäufele and the roast were so salty that we could hardly eat them. When the sun went down it was dark at the table and you could hardly see your food. Light couldn't be turned on because it was broken. All in all, it would actually be a very nice beer garden if the food and the surroundings were right. I think I won't go there again.

Very cozy beer garden with typical Franconian dishes

We were there with 7 people. -The ambience was beautiful and quiet, unfortunately there was no lighting at a late hour and we had to eat with cell phone light. -Service was great, courteous, funny and really on point. -Food was so-so, 5 dishes out of 7 were brought early and people were already finished when the rest came. Unfortunately, the portion of two dishes resembled a children's meal and all the dishes with a sauce were too salty. Potential is there.

Unfortunately the visit was more than disappointing. After our 45 minute journey and the attempts to reach someone, which unfortunately wasn't possible. We got a table there and waited 30 minutes for the menu after we got it, another 20 minutes to order, 10 minutes later the cellar came and said the kitchen wasn't making any more food. The kitchen closes according to the opening times stated on the internet at 8:30 p.m. We ordered at 8:00 p.m. Unfortunately not recommended and very disappointing!

Tourism trap. Food came lukewarm and tasted bordering on bad canteen food. The witches' feast was completely soaked in the bag of dressing. Roasted dumplings and aioli are missing. Staff overwhelmed, everything took forever. The boss can neither greet nor deal with criticism. Never again. In addition, prices are completely unrealistic. It's a shame, because it's a very nice beer garden.

Was exactly as I expected. The store is full, the food and drink is great. Service quick and attentive. Completely successful. Gladly again .

Super fast service - bread dumplings with chanterelles have never been served so quickly. Ok, there were only a manageable number of chanterelles with two bread dumplings and a (presumably ready-made) sauce that wasn't really seasoned. The three homemade Obadzer balls according to the card turn out to be two quite large balls. The complaint to the service then produced a plate with three balls and three slices of bread. Homemade doesn't really mean seasoned here. Kind of bland. The card contains the note: “WITCH tip: Please count the sausages when handing them over - later complaints cannot be taken into account” - as noted, this also applies to the Obadzder.

The food is okay but not good… overpriced… We even paid for a glass of water 3.50 EUR. Schade.

I read cheese spaetzle with HOMEMADE fried onions in the menu online, mmmh I thought, my meal! When they came I already saw a few burnt threads that tasted cold, rubbery and disgusting. AND we counted, there were 14 threads of charred onion. Asking the waiter (possibly a student) they are so with us!!!!!!!! Thanks, that's it! You can deal with the tourists like that, but I won't pay 15 euros for a dish like that! My family and I won't be coming anymore! It's a shame I didn't take a photo and send something like that out! And then the waiter tells me, that’s how they are with us! Unbelievable!

Delicious food and friendly service

If you pass through Nuremberg you can't help but come here to eat or even just for a beer. On the threshold of the city walls, stellar staff, excellent food (I recommend the typical Nuremberg sausages) and exceptional drink. Highly recommended for individuals, couples, families and companies.

Totally unfriendly service. There were free seats in the restaurant, but because it was 7 p.m. on a Sunday (the kitchen is open until 8 p.m.) and the waiter didn't want to work anymore, he canceled in a very rude manner, even though I was a very respectful visitor. .. Disappointment!

My local pub in Nuremberg, simply brilliantly located by the castle and a bit away from the tourist mainstream. But this time there were many and the best tables with a view of the castle could not be selected (why?) and the obligatory Schäufele was oversalted 🙈 I got a delicious schnapps as compensation for that 😀 We'll still come back

Celebrated my birthday there last night. Everything was great: food, ambience and, above all, the highly efficient service with Jannice. It was perfect!!

Not a second time. Unfortunately, after waiting for over 2 hours, we still had no food on the table. Our questions to the staff went unanswered and no one was interested. We even had to point out several times whether we wanted new drinks and it wasn't until 3 or 4 times later that someone finally came and picked up drinks for which we then had to wait another 30 minutes. There wasn't much going on in the beer garden at the time. After more than 2 hours we wanted to pay and no one even remotely asked what about the food we ordered. Nobody was interested. Definitely won't come again.

The older waitress with glasses really looks like a witch... was completely overwhelmed and didn't serve us for an hour, we left hungry... unbelievable!

Very nice beer garden near the castle. The Schäufele was very good except for the crust, which was almost impossible to cut with a normal knife. Unfortunately, the bread and pretzels with me were not fresh. Service was very nice, but there are very few waitresses. Bie could be a little cooler.

We were there with a large group. I would have ordered cheese spaetzle and got spaetzle with a pinch of gouda... The other dishes weren't particularly well received either. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after we had eaten that we were asked if we liked it...

We went to this restaurant on 28/07/2024 and got food poisoning. There were 3 of us, we ordered 3 different dishes, and all of us got food poisoning. I was the first to feel sick, I spent the whole night in the bathroom with severe cramps. Shortly after, my husband, who even fainted, got sick, and my 70-year-old mother-in-law was the most affected of all. She was sick for 3 days, had to go to the hospital, receive IV fluids, and this consultation cost 230€! In short, it was a traumatic experience. I don't know what happened in the kitchen, but I read other comments about that day and I am sure it happened here. In short, an immense irresponsibility of the restaurant. The waitress was super nice, the place was beautiful, but the food 🤮 And the salad was the most desgusting things I ever had, it’s some kind of pickled salad, really awful.

Nice beer garden, nice service. I would just be careful about ordering a spit roast. It is fried on both sides. I haven't had anything like that before. When I asked, it was explained to me that there was only room for Schäufele in the oven and that this was the only way to ensure that the spit roast was warm. Of course the spit roast was more than dead. I don't understand the argument here. If you don't have enough capacity in the oven, you should simply take the spit roast off the menu. Probably no one will notice and you won't serve such nonsense.

Only had something to drink but the Rsseb looked good

Me and my girlfriend were on the lookout for some authentic German food and we stumbled across this beautiful beer garden at the base of the castle. The food was so good at a really affordable price compared to other restaurants in similar locations. Service was prompt and one of the male staff was especially fun bringing a great vibe to the whole place. Of course joined by great German beer I would say this is a must visit when in town.

The ambience and service was really great... Problem we (all 3 visitors) have had a flat stomach since the visit... We had Schäufele (there's aioli in it, which could possibly be it).

I personally wanted to increase my reservation from 2 people to 4 people and was treated like an annoying insect by an older woman behind the bar. Friendliness towards guests is definitely different. So I canceled my reservation.

A place you come across while walking along the fortifications of the imperial palace in Nuremberg: in summer the shaded Biergarten is a true paradise of quiet. Kind and friendly staff, quick and attentive service, tasty dishes: in addition to the regional and city classics, the house specialty is a fantastic alcoholic digestive made with plums. The cake with cherries is very good and not cloying. Clean bathrooms, divided for men and women.

Was there yesterday (July 18th). The food was delicious, I had a snack and the ambience was great. Unfortunately the service was a bit over-motivated that day. Spilled the leftover plates over my pants while clearing away. A quick sorry and that was it. Could the solution be different, especially nicer and better?

The service is overwhelmed, everything takes a long time. Too many places for too few staff. There were 30 of us at different tables. There were 2 hours between the first order and the last. Some orders never arrived at all. The ambience itself is nice, the toilet facilities are dingy, smelly and dirty, no towels to dry your hands.

The place is not a big number. It reminds me a bit of N-eosin in Pécs. The castle is built on a wall. The food is a bit tasteless. The beers are the average Nuremberg ones. The service is fast. 17 of us came, but everything came in 15-20 minutes. The waiters are spinning.

The location is great. The service miserable. If you are hungry or thirsty, you should bring something with you. The food .......ok small but not fine.

We had the 6 Nürnberger sausages, pretzel with butter and radish, and Nürnberger Biergulash. I liked the pretzel combo a lot and the specialty sausages were good!

Incredibly quaint! We were just here for a drink, so I can't give any information about the kitchen. However, the location itself is worth a visit! The service was friendly and quick.

They served poorly, and to be sure, they did not serve at all, they ordered beer and brought it to us, when they came to them, they said "okay" "okay" and greeted them with the words "go, go"

They threw me and my wife out in the middle of thunderstorm as they are fully booked and are not allowing people to have a beer at their garden in order tk wait the storm to pass. I have called few minutes to the restaurant to make.a "reservation" just to proove me, that indeed they were not fully booked and the waiter was wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!!

I was really very positively surprised. The food was very good. The service was also excellent, friendly and attentive. Dogs are welcome. Beer garden character. Prices totally okay! All in all a great place to stay.

The service is unhurried, there are not many people during the day because... Groups of tourists enter through the entrance to the fortress next to the cafe. When it's hot, you can sit down and drink local beer.

A rather mixed visit to the Hexenhäusle and a seemingly somewhat overwhelmed service. The beer garden itself is beautiful, idyllic and has a top location. However, the wrong food was brought to the table several times. Others forgot a drink. Cutlery only upon request. Everyone shook their heads that day wondering what was going on in the Hexenhäusle. That can certainly be done better.

I can, in good conscience, give everything here 5 stars without exaggerating it. We were there with our regular group (14 people) and were able to make reservations without any problems. In addition, there were questions and they were always answered very quickly. The cakes are from a local, small bakery not a stone's throw away and are always extremely delicious. All dishes received great praise and our regular table was extremely satisfied. Excellent cuisine, great staff and a really great location. We will definitely come by again and again. And yes: you can also order gravy with the schnitzel :) And for the Franconians among us: The Hexenschmaus, i.e. the Schäufele, deserves a good 9 out of 10 with a Schäufele capital star.

Eder was really very tasty, the service was also very good and the location in summer was also great - what more could you want?

DRINK: I took homemade lemonade and personally, I would give that drink a 2 star only. I didn’t like it. It felt only very little lemon has been squeezed into a lot of water. So, it tasted very bland and weird. MAIN COURSE: I ordered a classic dish from them: knuspriges schäufele mit dinkelbiersoße. It was VERY delicious. The knodel was also so good. The meat was soooo well cooked, it was crispy and yet soft on the inside. Oh 😍. I would highly recommend it. The sauce was complimenting the meat really well and so was the sauerkraut. The knodel was soft and spongy. I really enjoyed the food! 🤤 DESSERT: I ordered Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce and it was also very tasty. Not too sweet - just as I like it. It had raisins in it too which was giving it a good taste. Soft. Also recommended. 😃 LOCATION: Definitely worth it to visit and enjoy the atmosphere. It was Awesome!!!

Food comes very quickly, good beers

Been there twice, very happy with the food, large spacious garden, ok prices, not too bad either.

First of all, we have to say that the Hexenhäusle with its beer garden is magical. The young lady who served us was very confident and quick. The menu is clear, meat-heavy but okay. We had pulled Schäufele with fried potatoes and salad, Kässpatzen and an Obatzden. Overall, the food was very underseasoned. With such hearty things you can be a little braver. The Obatzden was the best of all. Unfortunately, Kässpätzle had a very bland cheese and was tossed in a lot of cream. We've never eaten like this before. The Schäufele, fried potatoes and salad were all served on one plate. Unfortunately my food was cold, so I asked if that was intentional. The service person said no and apologized several times. Could she still do something good for us? The expessi ordered shortly afterwards were still on the bill. Not so bad, but it would have been a nice touch if they hadn't appeared on it. The fried potatoes were pale, the meat was tender but bland and the salad was covered in a mustard/vinegar dip that couldn't be described as a dressing. If the food had been great, the bill would have been far too cheap. The quality of the goods is very good. Unfortunately, it's too expensive to go to the Hexenhäusle just for the ambience. But that's out of the question for us anyway since we were here on vacation.

At the Hexenhäusle behind the castle you can find both savory and sweet treats (in the form of cakes). The dishes are tasty. The beer is from Tucher. The prices are acceptable. The view of both the castle and the northern part of the city is beautiful. The service is very friendly and accommodating - even when the beer garden is full. The toilets are small but clean. ➡️ Conclusion: If you get hungry and thirsty when visiting Nuremberg Castle, you can take a leisurely break here.

I have already sent my criticism directly to you...unfortunately without any response. I recommend making a reservation somewhere else.... Reservations are brought forward and shortened in time without informing the customer, so that there are 30 minutes between arrival and the table being released....even for fast eaters.... There are enough alternatives in the city center

Unfortunately, Obazta were just balls, a bit hard and not really recognizable as cream. Went back too. We found the service to be a bit overwhelmed. Otherwise a nice facility. There is still room for improvement here. ⚓⚓

Despite a reservation, we were assigned a place that was more than half wet. There was neither wiped dry nor was there anything to put under the benches. We were not offered an alternative and had to ask ourselves. I expect a different service.

The service leaves a lot to be desired. The almost tasteless iced tea only came towards the end. When asked where individual drinks or side dishes are, the waitresses are overwhelmed and uncomprehending. You can actually eat the Schäufelchen as long as all the side dishes are good. Kässpatzen and Pfannenschnitzel taste either of nothing or just of fat. + Point: In contrast to other tables, we were actually noticed.

What a disappointment! I had the misfortune of visiting this restaurant and it was a true nightmare from start to finish. The service was beyond slow - it took forever for anyone to even take our order, and then even longer for the food to arrive. When it finally arrived it was barely edible. The food was either cold, overcooked or simply tasteless. I've experienced a lot, but this was truly the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. The service was very friendly and helpful, but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant even to my worst enemy.

A very cozy beer garden with nice staff. I'm not normally a bone-in, rind-and-fat eater, but the crispy Schäufele was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Even though I don't normally eat something like that, I dared to experiment and was disabused of the fact that you definitely have to try something new. Rarely have I had something so good served on my plate. In addition, the food and beer taste much better in this beautiful beer garden. It won't be the last time I've been here, I promise 🤞
