We looked for a place outside in the nice beer garden. The service was quick, but slightly annoyed. Drinks and food came quickly. The food was good. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities outside don't work at all. Something definitely needs to be done.

Very nice beer garden and good, fast service. There is only a need to catch up when it comes to sanitary facilities. Very narrow rooms, the doors were stiff and sometimes couldn't be closed.

Wow... we didn't get a card in ages, even though we were noticed at the entrance. After 30 minutes (we then got a card ourselves after subtle hand signals had no effect) the waiter came without greeting us. Our “good day” was followed by a “yes.. hello, so what?”. He was so rude that we left without ordering. A little note to Hexenhäusle: I'm from Nuremberg, I've been to you several times, service has never been great, but that really took the cake. There are plenty of other taverns I can take my visit to. You're not just scaring away the one-off tourists who obviously don't care about you. It's a shame about the beautiful beer garden. But that was the last visit with you.

We were there without a reservation and still got a table, and that was on a Saturday, wow. We were greeted inside and kindly shown to a table. Then the chore began... The young waitress seemed very rude to us, but hey, with this weather, it was definitely a tiring day. When we had placed the order and it was on the table, we had to politely ask for cutlery. Yes, ok, it can still happen. From now on things got very strange: The food was absolutely delicious (greetings to the kitchen) so we asked for the menu? What did you want with the menu? We only have 2 desserts😳 She told us that she was quite annoyed😳, but we wanted to go again for something to drink... but said we would like the Kaiserschmarren and the menu for drinks. YES THEN I'LL GET THE CARD😳 wow When I looked at the drinks, did you choose what? We're still looking! Yes, if I just pick up the dessert now I have to run twice so I would like to take an order😳 When paying, another waiter asked us if we wanted to give something extra because we didn't say e.g. Please deduct €14 as a tip! It was with card payment. He also looked very surprised when we described the experiences! The fact that we didn't give a tip wow, I don't think that's ever happened before. Conclusion: Great store, nice atmosphere full ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Schäufele / Kaiserschmarren The service ⭐️⭐️ a ⭐️ for the lady who got us a table A ⭐️ for the other waiter, who unfortunately only came to our table once or twice And zero ⭐️ for our young lady, I hope she just had a bad day and other guests feel better off there. Attached is a picture of the Schäufele which is probably the best thing I have ever eaten!!

Totally overwhelmed. You even wait forever for a pretzel. And then instead of two portions there is only one. Totally annoyed staff. Unclean sanitary facilities. Never again.

Nice place with unfortunately an unfriendly waiter. At least the one who served us. He reprimanded and lectured us condescendingly on how guests should place their orders. He was also snarky and schoolmasterlike, even though it was our first time in the beer garden. That kind of behavior is not hospitable, even if we are tourists and possibly only come once. Unfortunately not recommended. Hopefully the other waiters are in a better mood. This is how an individual damages the reputation of an entire restaurant. That can't be what the innkeeper wanted.

Chilling Biergarten, service was really friendly. They have English menu and the food was tasty. Really recommend if you are taking a walk around the wall

Good address in the shadow of the castle!

It was our favorite place in Nuremberg. We ended up going here twice on our stay. Food is good and beers are reasonably priced. It's also very calm and out of the way compared to places near the castle. Definitely a hidden gem!

We went there for dinner with our two sons. The food came quickly and was super tasty. Prices fair, portions good and sufficient. Everyone was full and happy.

We went for lunch and we really enjoyed it. Here you can hear the birds singing in the middle of the city. The waitresses are super friendly and can withstand any rush. Food was good and the Kaiserschmarn was great. Personally, I was very positively surprised by the red beer.

The food is delicious and the restaurant is so beautiful. Schnitzel is big, a mammoth, great. Spaetzle is also delicious.

A very traditional restaurant close to the castle, which fits in very well with the collision thanks to its old-fashioned charm. The menu is small but the dishes are freshly cooked. I had the witch's feast that brings traditional dishes into the modern one. This consists of pulled Schäufle with fried potatoes, aioli and a salad with homemade dressing. For dessert there was Kaiserschmarrn with apple compote, which was also very good. All in all, I can only recommend the Hexenhäusle and will happily come back.

Well-known Nuremberg beer garden with a beautiful view of the castle. Cozy interiors. Unfortunately, the taste and consistency of the bratwursts are below average, no comparison to the bratwursts in the historic bratwurst kitchen at the guilder star, for example, the price is relatively high, portions are small

Stopped for beer and pretzel after a visit to the castle. Actually smaller than expected but still plenty of room. Very reasonable prices. Can imagine it being packed in the summer. Recommended.

A great beer garden with great food

I have rarely visited such a cozy and quaint restaurant. The food was super tasty and more than enough for one person. You don't find that very often these days, nor at such a price. But what was even cooler was the waiter. I've never had such a cool and personable waiter. Thanks for the really cool evening and the super delicious Schäufele.

Good schnitzel! (Visited in 2015)

I ate there today and was unfortunately very disappointed. I ordered the Schäufele, which is advertised as a “tip of the house” on the menu. Unfortunately, the meat was extremely dry and hard, sometimes black - so much so that I showed it to the service staff. Since I was very hungry, I at least ate the dumpling and the cabbage. I returned my almost untouched plate and made it clear that the dish was not edible. The waiter's reaction? A curt “Oh, okay” and the offer of an espresso – no apology, no accommodation. I was all the more surprised when the Schäufele was still fully calculated. It's a shame, I expected a lot more here.

One of the best restaurants in Nuremberg for typical Franconian cuisine and specialties. Always a great experience coming here. Quaint, rustic atmosphere with a very good selection of regional Franconian dishes. Good product quality and attentive service. I can only recommend the Hexenhäusle to everyone.

Very rustic atmosphere, super nice landlady, very good home-style cuisine, something for vegetarians too. Were there in December and can't rate the beer garden, but it's certainly very nice in the summer. Any time

We always enjoy coming here when we are in Nuremberg. Not as crowded as the other tourist places. Schäufele was delicious, as was the beer. The only disadvantage is that it drafts like hell in the cozy but old place.

Very tasty and really good. But really at the highest price in terms of price.

The restaurant has a really romantic atmosphere with some very nice seating areas. The food was excellent, the service was very attentive and the price level was more than acceptable for Nuremberg. So a clear recommendation from me. We'll be back in the summer to enjoy the beautiful guest garden.

Came here for a quick drink and snack after visiting the Kaiserburg. Friendly service, cosy restaurant in witch house theme. Big beer garten. But was closed since it was winter. I bet it's nice in summer!

A special experience. If you like it rustic with a medieval character, this is the place for you. Totally cute restaurant with absolutely nice and friendly service. Be careful, there are real candles on the table, they burned my menu. Food is very well cooked. It's definitely worth a visit. In summer there is a very large garden to sit in.

Four of us were there on the 2nd Advent. Location very quiet and the food was pleasant. Only the service was unfriendly, rude, disrespectful and his body odor was not okay with the guests. It's a shame that the boss wasn't there. Once there we'll never come back. Very sad

Tried to get some food here at 20h30 on a friday night during peak winter season. Bad attitude from the staff and a "closed kitchen". Can't believe it.

Nice at first glance, but then cramped and hectic - designed for high throughput. And you can tell that in the food. It is not possible for a good cook to prepare sensible dishes in 10 minutes. You have to use a lot of chemistry to help. Unfortunately, it gave me and my wife an evening of stomach cramps and diarrhea. Never again !

Lovely and cozy place, we loved it. Excellent location. We had the pork shoulder (Schäufele) literally the meat was falling off the bone, the celery soup was also nice but the bread wasn’t fresh, the apple strudel is a must. The service was good, friendly staff, willing to help but they forgot about us and we had to wait more than 10 minutes to order and to pay the bill.

I had sauerbraten. The meat was dry and hard. So inedible. Dumpling, sauce and blue cabbage were very tasty. Therefore only 2 stars. Service and ambience were perfect. Too bad. I would have liked to give 5 stars. But I had to give the meat back.

A not very big restaurant, placed just outside of Kaiserburg castle walls. Nice arranged, in a rustic style.

Well how should I say? A real witch's house couldn't be better.

Great restaurant at the back of the Kaiserburg I went to this restaurant for dinner with my girlfriend during a holiday in Nuremberg. The venue is located at the back of the Kaiserburg at the end of the Vestnertorbrücke. Outside there is a large garden with numerous outdoor tables. The inside is quite large but dining outside is much more impressive. I had the Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut accompanied by a medium local beer. I found everything very tasty and substantial. The service is fast and the prices are honest. Recommended for the excellent typical Bavarian products.

Very nice, rustic inn right next to the imperial castle. The service was great and very quick. We had the bratwurst trilogy, the price was more than reasonable, the food was beautifully presented and we enjoyed it very much. There is also a great selection of draft and bottled beers.

Rude and unprofessional staff. Beer at room temperature on a 33°C summer day is unthinkable, especially for a country like Germany that knows beer much better than many others. I point out to the very arrogant waiter that my beer isn't fresh enough... he touches my beer mug, takes a look and says to me: "You've drunk almost half, I don't care... it is." no reason to change it.” What???? Admittedly, I only took one sip and it made me gross because it was really warm and all the foam had disappeared by now, leaving my glass feeling like three quarters. He turned around and walked away ignoring me. In my house they say: “The only thing worse than a warm beer is a cold woman.”🤭 Even if I had been given it as a gift, I wouldn't have drunk it, let alone if I had to pay €5 for it. I went to the bar and asked for another one, preferably a cold one, and the nice thing was that I ended up with 2️⃣ beers on mine Billed, a hot one, which I had never had before, and a cold one. Madhouse stuff!!! However, never again! Very poor service and no respect for customers.

It's perfect for watching the castle, sitting down, resting, eating snacks, and enjoying a beer. When you sit down, a waiter comes and asks about the menu. You can try Nuremberg sausages.

In itself a very nice and well-located beer garden at the foot of the castle. Very nicely done. Only the food and the price-performance ratio are not particularly convincing. You pay €16 for a plate of bread dumplings with chanterelles and there are two tiny, golf ball-sized dumplings on top. You definitely won't get enough of it and for €16. The Schäufele costs €20 and comes with a (!) slightly larger dumpling. The sauces from the Schäufele and the roast were so salty that we could hardly eat them. When the sun went down it was dark at the table and you could hardly see your food. Light couldn't be turned on because it was broken. All in all, it would actually be a very nice beer garden if the food and the surroundings were right. I think I won't go there again.

Very cozy beer garden with typical Franconian dishes

Great restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Service really excellent.

We were there with 7 people. -The ambience was beautiful and quiet, unfortunately there was no lighting at a late hour and we had to eat with cell phone light. -Service was great, courteous, funny and really on point. -Food was so-so, 5 dishes out of 7 were brought early and people were already finished when the rest came. Unfortunately, the portion of two dishes resembled a children's meal and all the dishes with a sauce were too salty. Potential is there.

Unfortunately the visit was more than disappointing. After our 45 minute journey and the attempts to reach someone, which unfortunately wasn't possible. We got a table there and waited 30 minutes for the menu after we got it, another 20 minutes to order, 10 minutes later the cellar came and said the kitchen wasn't making any more food. The kitchen closes according to the opening times stated on the internet at 8:30 p.m. We ordered at 8:00 p.m. Unfortunately not recommended and very disappointing!

Tourism trap. Food came lukewarm and tasted bordering on bad canteen food. The witches' feast was completely soaked in the bag of dressing. Roasted dumplings and aioli are missing. Staff overwhelmed, everything took forever. The boss can neither greet nor deal with criticism. Never again. In addition, prices are completely unrealistic. It's a shame, because it's a very nice beer garden.

Was exactly as I expected. The store is full, the food and drink is great. Service quick and attentive. Completely successful. Gladly again .

Super fast service - bread dumplings with chanterelles have never been served so quickly. Ok, there were only a manageable number of chanterelles with two bread dumplings and a (presumably ready-made) sauce that wasn't really seasoned. The three homemade Obadzer balls according to the card turn out to be two quite large balls. The complaint to the service then produced a plate with three balls and three slices of bread. Homemade doesn't really mean seasoned here. Kind of bland. The card contains the note: “WITCH tip: Please count the sausages when handing them over - later complaints cannot be taken into account” - as noted, this also applies to the Obadzder.

The food is okay but not good… overpriced… We even paid for a glass of water 3.50 EUR. Schade.

I read cheese spaetzle with HOMEMADE fried onions in the menu online, mmmh I thought, my meal! When they came I already saw a few burnt threads that tasted cold, rubbery and disgusting. AND we counted, there were 14 threads of charred onion. Asking the waiter (possibly a student) they are so with us!!!!!!!! Thanks, that's it! You can deal with the tourists like that, but I won't pay 15 euros for a dish like that! My family and I won't be coming anymore! It's a shame I didn't take a photo and send something like that out! And then the waiter tells me, that’s how they are with us! Unbelievable!

Delicious food and friendly service

If you pass through Nuremberg you can't help but come here to eat or even just for a beer. On the threshold of the city walls, stellar staff, excellent food (I recommend the typical Nuremberg sausages) and exceptional drink. Highly recommended for individuals, couples, families and companies.

Totally unfriendly service. There were free seats in the restaurant, but because it was 7 p.m. on a Sunday (the kitchen is open until 8 p.m.) and the waiter didn't want to work anymore, he canceled in a very rude manner, even though I was a very respectful visitor. .. Disappointment!

My local pub in Nuremberg, simply brilliantly located by the castle and a bit away from the tourist mainstream. But this time there were many and the best tables with a view of the castle could not be selected (why?) and the obligatory Schäufele was oversalted 🙈 I got a delicious schnapps as compensation for that 😀 We'll still come back

Celebrated my birthday there last night. Everything was great: food, ambience and, above all, the highly efficient service with Jannice. It was perfect!!

Not a second time. Unfortunately, after waiting for over 2 hours, we still had no food on the table. Our questions to the staff went unanswered and no one was interested. We even had to point out several times whether we wanted new drinks and it wasn't until 3 or 4 times later that someone finally came and picked up drinks for which we then had to wait another 30 minutes. There wasn't much going on in the beer garden at the time. After more than 2 hours we wanted to pay and no one even remotely asked what about the food we ordered. Nobody was interested. Definitely won't come again.

The older waitress with glasses really looks like a witch... was completely overwhelmed and didn't serve us for an hour, we left hungry... unbelievable!

Very nice beer garden near the castle. The Schäufele was very good except for the crust, which was almost impossible to cut with a normal knife. Unfortunately, the bread and pretzels with me were not fresh. Service was very nice, but there are very few waitresses. Bie could be a little cooler.
