Hermes Restaurant in Halle (Saale)

The restaurant is located directly on the market. We needed 11 seats at short notice because another restaurant left us hanging. They really tried to help us and so we sat on the second floor, in a corner all to ourselves. The food was also super tasty. Many thanks again to the entire team.

With its authentic Greek cuisine using fresh ingredients, Hermes clearly stands out from the other Greek restaurants in Halle. No matter whether meat, fish or vegetarian, the food is of a very high standard. The word has gotten around, so it's not easy to get a table if you make a reservation.

Was a little disappointed with the food. Somehow the “oomph” was missing, it was just ok. The ouzo came before the meal, which I only know about Greeks afterwards. Gave me the feeling that the staff simply wanted this "point" taken care of. The staff was attentive, but personally too much for me. You were greeted personally by the “senior boss”, which I really liked. I found the location of the restaurant very good.

The soup wasn't hot and not everything on the warm starter plate was warm either. At the beginning and at the end there was uzo. We said we didn't want one because we had to drive, but they brought us some anyway.

Food was very quick because after 5 minutes the starter came, after another 10-15 minutes the main course....prices were very good...2 x starter, 2x main course + drinks all for 53 euros...really top...waiters super friendly, would love to come back 👍🏽

The food was plentiful and delicious 😋 I couldn't finish it. The service forgot about us for a moment, but then made up for us in a very friendly and welcoming manner. The manager personally came over and asked if everything was okay, and we had some pleasant small talk.

Inexpensive lunch, good service, delicious food

Here you can eat in a nice atmosphere. It's a bit twisty which is a bit confusing the first time you see it. The service is very good and during the week the food arrives super quickly, but on the weekend it is always full here and it takes a while. The carrot tzatziki is amazing and is always the first thing I order there.

We reserved a table for 4 people on December 29th, 2024 and were seated on the ground floor. I don't know if this applies to all the tables in the house, but our seating was very cramped. The restaurant was very busy, with customers constantly streaming in. The house actually has two doors to keep the cold out using a lock. But since the first entrance door was locked open, every guest brought a lot of wind with them. That wasn't exactly conducive to comfort, just like the cramped seating. In stark contrast to the owner of the restaurant, the staff was rather cautiously friendly. The boss made you feel very welcome, but the rest didn't. What you can't complain about is the efficient service. It all went pretty quickly and hand in hand, wishes were implemented quickly. On the way to the toilet I looked at the other rooms, which are very attractive. If you make a reservation at Hermes, we recommend the upper floors. The portion size of the food was just right, but the taste was average. In general, the Hermes is an attractive restaurant, but I personally wouldn't want to sit here again for the reasons mentioned.

I'm very sorry to share this experience, but I had it macaroni and cheese. I immediately thought they tasted strange and unfortunately the food made me throw up at home. The service is okay and the ambience is very nice, but unfortunately I won't eat here again

We were warmly welcomed by the boss and shown the house with several floors in a great atmosphere. Where another employee had a nice conversation with us. Drinks and food came very quickly. The food was excellent, but unfortunately the service may not have had a good day, very unfriendly, which was a shame. But it didn't change the fact that we were satisfied overall.

So if you plan to visit the Hermes restaurant, you should reserve a table. The food is fresh and served quickly. The service is very friendly. All in all, I can highly recommend it.

One thing first: just WOW! 👍 Came across this Greek restaurant by chance because I was craving squid. Since there was only calamari fried, I asked if I could have baby calamari as an appetizer. For the main course I ordered chicken skewers with fries and rice, plus a large Sprite. To accompany the calamari, there was a small Cole Slow salad in a garlic mayonnaise sauce and warm white bread as a greeting from the kitchen. Very, very tasty! The baby calamari was served in a light red wine sauce! Also very very very tasty! Main course: Meat grilled to perfection. A real treat! Service and ambience are exceptionally good! A visit to a restaurant hasn't made me this happy in a long time! In this restaurant they know their stuff! I paid €37.50. Great value for money! Definitely again when I'm in Halle. Highly recommended! 😊👍

Cozy Greek restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The food is excellent, freshly prepared and tasty. The service is attentive and friendly. The best “Greek” in the city center, centrally on the market square.

We were in Halle for three days for a training course. When we asked where you could go for a good meal in Halle, we were recommended Hermes. And, what can I say, our expectations were not disappointed in any way, on the contrary, the service was great, the food was top-notch, and the service was really great. We felt so well looked after that we visited this restaurant two evenings in a row 😊. I am very happy to give this 5 stars. If we come to Halle again, we will definitely eat there again.

While the city sank into the night fog, we sat at a round table in the entrance area and enjoyed various starters, main courses and desserts for almost six hours. We tested various non-alcoholic cocktails and even got an extra pinch of cinnamon on the hot chocolate. The waiters came regularly, asked what we wanted and provided supplies. A small downside were the icy showers of air that hit us every time we opened the restaurant door. We also think that a little more attention could be paid to the quiet little place and that it shouldn't just be a "close your eyes and walk through" atmosphere. Nevertheless, there are five stars for Greek hospitality. Kind regards to the attentive boss of the house!

When we asked for them, the waiter, who wasn't wearing an apron or anything, said that we should have gotten one. After we spoke to another waitress we were given a salad after our meal - there was no real apology. Portions were smaller than last time, the food looked more slapped on than draped. We had to wait a long time for the bill; we only received it after the second question.

Had to wait a long time for conditions. The food was almost perfect if it had still been warm. Even the herb butter on the lamb didn't want to melt. After I commented on this, I got an answer: If we also kept the plates warm, then they would wait two hours to eat. I thanked him for this answer and left. I just felt sorry for the chef because the food was good.

I've eaten at dozens of Greek restaurants in my life and rarely has every dish been truly outstanding! The restaurant brings Greece to Halle. It is very clean and the conditions are very polite and read the guests' every wish. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

Always well attended. Orders are taken quickly. Special requests can be made, but are sometimes not implemented so well, such as only salad, no rice or fries, with the meat dishes. Portions sufficient.

We visited with family for a lunch after reading the reviews, hoping for it to be a really nice place. But it turned out to be the worst experience in Halle/Leipzig overall. The food was mediocre, greek salad is somewhat of a misunderstanding - just a little slice of feta mixed with tomatoes and something acidic. Not traditional (I’ve just returned from Greece 3 weeks ago), the ingredients should also be fresher. But we were most shocked of the arrogance and ignorance of our waiter. He brought me different things of what I’ve ordered without asking me first and even dared to argue when I refused to accept it. After arguing he said I’m gonna pay for it anyway even though I haven’t touched the thing. When paying, he finally managed to subtract the things he brought himself without asking, but showed a huge dissatisfaction. Will never come back to this place and I suggest You to search for the others, too.

Update: thanks to the new dispensing system, the beer is now well chilled. Who doesn't know that moment after a strenuous day at work in temperatures over 25 degrees, when you look forward to going to a restaurant in the evening and taking your first sip of cold beer? Unfortunately we were disappointed here, it was the second time we had been there and there was only stale, warm beer. Unfortunately, the waiters didn't really care. It was only explained to us when we returned the Grevensteiner that the other beer was also connected to the same bottle. The food is otherwise good and recommended. Please improve the drinks, mainly the beer.

We spontaneously went out for dinner on Saturday. Top service, The food was great And the boss is an absolutely great guy. We come more often now.

Central location. Seats outside on the terrace or inside on 2 floors. Reservation up front is possible and recommended. We visited 3 times during 2024 already and were always satisfied. The service is great, and so are the food and drinks. Folks are children and dog friendly. Payment by card is possible. Thank you and we will be back soon.

Since it's right at the bus stop it's easy to reach. But I have also met other Greek restaurants that are even better. E.g. in Geiststr. . There are no differences in the friendliness of the staff. Compared to the last time I visited you, a lot has changed for the better. It's a good thing I listened to my little sister and so we stopped by for lunch. And I can say that my food tasted great. So today I can see that you have developed further and I can only recommend you. Please stay as you are.

We have visited the restaurant at the large Marktplatz before and once again had lunch here. The restaurant is situated with a nice view of the square and as we visited on a sunny day we enjoyed our lunch outside. The menu is Greek with an extensive selection of items. We chose some grilled dishes which were very tasty. Service too was excellent and prices very reasonable.

Ordered a table and enjoyed the food... that's how it was intended and then the staff from Hermes came... an extremely friendly owner introduced himself at the table in conversation. With a lot of charm he invited us to his restaurant to enjoy the evening. Accepted and arrived!
