Hermes Restaurant in Halle (Saale)

Was there for dinner with my girlfriend recently. Great service and super friendly. The food really tasted great and the portion was really great too. A healthy balance, not too much and not too little. Perfect. I would love to come back. Thank you and keep it up.

Had to wait a long time for conditions. The food was almost perfect if it had still been warm. Even the herb butter on the lamb didn't want to melt. After I commented on this, I got an answer: If we also kept the plates warm, then they would wait two hours to eat. I thanked him for this answer and left. I just felt sorry for the chef because the food was good.

Yummy! Price - performance is right! And great staff!

I've eaten at dozens of Greek restaurants in my life and rarely has every dish been truly outstanding! The restaurant brings Greece to Halle. It is very clean and the conditions are very polite and read the guests' every wish. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

Always well attended. Orders are taken quickly. Special requests can be made, but are sometimes not implemented so well, such as only salad, no rice or fries, with the meat dishes. Portions sufficient.

Rarely have Greek food been so good! From the meat to rice and fries to the salad and ouzo, everything was really excellent!

Been there for the 2nd time today. Highly recommended! The food was delicious, the staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was really nice and cozy.

We visited with family for a lunch after reading the reviews, hoping for it to be a really nice place. But it turned out to be the worst experience in Halle/Leipzig overall. The food was mediocre, greek salad is somewhat of a misunderstanding - just a little slice of feta mixed with tomatoes and something acidic. Not traditional (I’ve just returned from Greece 3 weeks ago), the ingredients should also be fresher. But we were most shocked of the arrogance and ignorance of our waiter. He brought me different things of what I’ve ordered without asking me first and even dared to argue when I refused to accept it. After arguing he said I’m gonna pay for it anyway even though I haven’t touched the thing. When paying, he finally managed to subtract the things he brought himself without asking, but showed a huge dissatisfaction. Will never come back to this place and I suggest You to search for the others, too.

Update: thanks to the new dispensing system, the beer is now well chilled. Who doesn't know that moment after a strenuous day at work in temperatures over 25 degrees, when you look forward to going to a restaurant in the evening and taking your first sip of cold beer? Unfortunately we were disappointed here, it was the second time we had been there and there was only stale, warm beer. Unfortunately, the waiters didn't really care. It was only explained to us when we returned the Grevensteiner that the other beer was also connected to the same bottle. The food is otherwise good and recommended. Please improve the drinks, mainly the beer.

We spontaneously went out for dinner on Saturday. Top service, The food was great And the boss is an absolutely great guy. We come more often now.

Central location. Seats outside on the terrace or inside on 2 floors. Reservation up front is possible and recommended. We visited 3 times during 2024 already and were always satisfied. The service is great, and so are the food and drinks. Folks are children and dog friendly. Payment by card is possible. Thank you and we will be back soon.

Since it's right at the bus stop it's easy to reach. But I have also met other Greek restaurants that are even better. E.g. in Geiststr. . There are no differences in the friendliness of the staff. Compared to the last time I visited you, a lot has changed for the better. It's a good thing I listened to my little sister and so we stopped by for lunch. And I can say that my food tasted great. So today I can see that you have developed further and I can only recommend you. Please stay as you are.

We have visited the restaurant at the large Marktplatz before and once again had lunch here. The restaurant is situated with a nice view of the square and as we visited on a sunny day we enjoyed our lunch outside. The menu is Greek with an extensive selection of items. We chose some grilled dishes which were very tasty. Service too was excellent and prices very reasonable.

Ordered a table and enjoyed the food... that's how it was intended and then the staff from Hermes came... an extremely friendly owner introduced himself at the table in conversation. With a lot of charm he invited us to his restaurant to enjoy the evening. Accepted and arrived! The rest of the staff always had a smile on their faces and a joke or two 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Thank you for the great evening, the delicious food and the endless charm 🫶

Nach einem völlig misslungenen Essen in einem anderen Restaurant wollten wir an einem sehr warmen Sommerabend nur noch etwas trinken und nett draußen sitzen. Obwohl die Terrasse sehr voll war, gab man uns freundlich einen netten Tisch, der weiße Hauswein war kühl und lecker und das frisch gezapfte Bier ebenfalls. Am nächsten Tag mittags gingen wir noch einmal hin: man sitzt sehr schön direkt am Marktplatz, der Mittagstisch ist gut und preiswert und der Service freundlich und schnell - und einen Gratis- Ouzo gibt es auch noch... 😉 Ein empfehlenswertes Haus!

Delicious food on the edge of Hallmarkt

We were warmly welcomed and quickly and friendly shown us a shady spot. Unfortunately, what followed was a very carelessly prepared lunch plate: dry rice, a few leaves as a salad and unsightly cut, disheveled turkey breast. My partner's food tasted good to him.

5 stars in every category, the food was so delicious. The service was great, the glass was barely empty before people asked if it could have anything else, with the first drink we got ouzo on the house and of course another one with the bill. Very nice staff, very hospitable. Very tasty food, nice ambience, a successful dinner.

Service was so unfriendly. The price-performance ratio for the food is not right. The description on the menu didn't match the food that was brought either. Never again!

Rude staff, in the heat we decided to drink beer and were told that this was a restaurant and we should eat here. I've never seen anything like this in my life

The staff is rude, incompetent, impolite and unreasonable. “You can’t just have drinks, it’s a restaurant, people eat here”. Says who? Doesn’t speak any English in the restaurant located in the city center, poor communication skills, lots of attitude, eyes rolling and irritation in relation to customers. Their behavior is unacceptable. The last evening as a tourist in Halle was ruined. Thank you very much.

A place where you can eat and drink well and everyone's wishes are taken into account! Since many dishes are prepared with Metaxa but we do not consume alcohol, these wishes are also taken into account and respected! A very nice and beautiful Greek restaurant in the heart of Halle! Beautiful interior and plenty of outdoor tables. As a Greek I would like to say that foods had the original Greek taste and good quality! The service was friendly and very fast. If you like Greek cuisine, you should visit it.

We went there quite spontaneously and got a table on Friday evening even without a reservation. All employees were very polite and accommodating. The food was incredibly tasty, a 10/10 both in terms of taste and presentation. Not as run-of-the-mill Greek as you're used to in most restaurants! Definitely the best Greek in Halle & a heartfelt recommendation!

Classic Greek restaurant on the market with outdoor seating. Service is quick but not very attentive. The quality of the food is 08/15. Taramas portion mini, and what's the use of smoked salmon from a foil package on a Greek starter plate? Just 1 olive and the cheapest sheep's cheese.

Food wasn't great, taste was 0/10 The only good thing is the Veltins on tap...

Nice atmosphere and great food, at least some of the more special meals on the menu. For me the classics like lamb filet or the metaxa sauce are just good standard. But in the end one of the best Greek restaurants in Halle.

Avoid the restaurant! We just wanted to have a drink when it was a nice 24 degrees 😊 on May 1st and were thrown out. With an explanation: “You have to order food in a Greek restaurant if you want to drink a shandy! Very impolite!

Rather unfriendly staff except when paying and leaving and that's it. Quick, quick, eat and then get out again. The meat was okay but it was far too small a portion for a 24€ plate, but I was able to drink my fill with the drinks. The side dishes are indefinable and obviously just “tipped” together and prepared in the microwave. In this case Cretan potatoes, which were not worthy of this definition. In the first attempt it was even fridge cold and in the second attempt it was hot but no Cretan potatoes. For a total of ~40 euros, this was a really poor performance and is not worth a second visit. However, the gentleman at reception was very nice and the ambience is actually good due to the location right on the market square. :-)

What can I say... spring is finally here, I'm visiting Halle, the Hermes outdoor seating area with parasols and a view of the beautiful market is open 🤩 And as always, the food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I've been coming here every time I'm in Leipzig or Halle for over 10 years. And I always leave here satisfied 😋 So - absolute recommendation!

Gg. 17:30 Uhr Restaurant recht gut gefüllt. Mürrische Begrüßung, die den Eindruck erweckte, "wo setzen wir den jetzt hin?" Katzentisch gefunden. Speisekarte ohne Worte in die Hand gedrückt, "was trinken?" abgefragt und Getränk ohne Worte auf den Tisch gestellt. Positiv jedoch sei der Juniorchef zu erwähnen, der lächelnd gegrüßt und später nach dem Essen gefragt hat. Das Essen an sich war durchschnittlich griechisch, handwerklich und geschmacklich keine Offenbarung, aber ok.

The food, delicious as always. The ambience is getting a bit old. When it came to the staff, I wasn't sure if they even understood what I wanted to order. The plates were simply cleared away while you were still chewing and you were still grinning. I've had better experiences than that.

Ich liebe griechische Restaurants und dieses hier ist ausgezeichnet. Wir waren an unseren beiden Abenden da und haben vieles probiert. Auch der Oktopus war excellent. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Es wurde sogar von Tisch zu Tisch gegangen. Die Preise sehr günstig für die sehr gute Qualität.
