Hermes Restaurant in Halle (Saale)

For the past few years, the Hermes Restaurant has been our go-to spot for our little class reunion every two months. We always have a table reserved for 1 p.m. The lunch menu is reasonably priced and always delicious. We're practically part of the family. The staff is very friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant. Keep up the good work!

I was very disappointed. Hermes Greek Restaurant was one of my favorite restaurants in Halle until recently. My last visit didn't bring back any of my good memories. I ordered a bifdeki with fries, which arrived quickly. The bifdeki was partially raw, the fries—seven of them, to be precise—were undercooked, and the beer had no carbonation at all. A real shame. I wouldn't recommend it.

Wow, what a wonderful surprise to stop by here after a long day! The super-friendly welcome from all the staff, the helpful advice on food and drinks, and the service were all outstanding – it really won me over. We'll definitely be back and can recommend it without hesitation. The quality of the food is also worth mentioning. Everything comes together perfectly, and you can tell. The restaurant was quite busy, which is why we walked in, but I would at least recommend making a reservation.

The food was very good; the meat was cooked perfectly and of high quality. The fries were also nice and crispy, although they could have used a little more salt for my taste, but I'm sure they gave me that when I asked. The service was very quick, and the food arrived quite fast as well.

The restaurant was okay, although I liked the Greek atmosphere. The service was friendly, and the owner was open to feedback. They should work on the tzatziki, which was rather bland, and the gyro meat, which was slightly tough. Otherwise, it was tasty.

We ate there twice during our vacation. Both times we hadn't made a reservation and still got a nice table. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service was also very friendly.

The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere – warm, inviting, and tastefully decorated. You immediately feel welcome. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the staff always had a smile on their faces, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was truly outstanding: fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. You can tell that the cooking is done with passion. One small point that could perhaps be improved is the portion sizes – they could be a bit larger for my taste. But in terms of taste, everything was top-notch. The price-performance ratio is also fair, and the wait times were pleasantly short. Overall, a fantastic Greek restaurant that I can recommend to anyone who appreciates authentic cuisine and warm service. I will definitely be back!

We were there in the evening. It was very crowded, and unfortunately, the entire place smelled of room fragrance. The food was average, typical Greek. The staff was friendly.

The atmosphere is difficult; it's very narrow and winding. It may have its charm, but it wasn't for me. SERVICE started well, but we were taken to the table and orders were taken. It took 30 minutes for the food to finally arrive. The lady next to us arrived shortly after us and was already paying when we got our food. A bit weird. The food was tasty, but the starter soup that was supposedly included wasn't available, and they didn't even ask. For me, it was OK in the end, nothing more, nothing less.

The decor is very nostalgic, creating a particularly friendly atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and prompt, even though the place was almost full on three floors. Highly recommended! Few restaurants still offer such great service and good food. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice; you're sitting near a tram stop, but that doesn't bother you too much. The drinks were also absolutely reasonable.

A great restaurant. The food is delicious, but it could have been warmer for me. 🙃 I prefer my food to be hot. The wobbly tables outside bothered me, and unfortunately, the smoke from the neighboring table while eating. 🙈

Stranded in Halle, we "stumbled" upon the Greek restaurant Hermes. We visited twice, and each time we were surprised! We were surprised by the attentive service, the delicious and fresh food, and the fitting ambiance beneath the clock tower. Delicious food with a beautiful view in a great location.

The bifteki was the best I've ever eaten. The Zeus plate is also highly recommended. The portions are generous and well-priced. The salad is also very fresh. The service is pleasant, attentive, and not intrusive. If we're ever in Halle again, we'll definitely stop there again.

I reserved a table in advance and asked for a table on the ground floor because my mother has back problems. My request was denied, and we were seated on the third floor. There used to be no problems, but the service has deteriorated. I've been here many times and never thought I'd be turned down for such a simple request.

I come there Sunday at 1945. The restaurant was not full at all. They want me let me sit on sad corner. Maybe because they see that im from another country. I dont like so i get away. Why they dont give me another place when i say i dont like it? Service is poor.

Went again here first time after 2020. Place is still family-owned, and the food quality is still top notch.

The food was decent. But I hadn't finished my starter, and the main course was already served. The salad was swimming in mayonnaise. Including a beer, this cost almost 30 euros. Poor value for money.

Unfortunately, I can't give it any more stars. The Metaxasose never had any Metaxa in it, and it tasted rather unkind. The sauce for the Cretan potatoes tasted like flour sauce. So, I was disappointed with the food. The service was good, though.

My favorite Greek restaurant in Halle. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They don't skimp on the ouzo either.

As a full-figured man, I have to say that the seating is too narrow and the chairs too small. Then you get strange looks because you're overweight, and the staff make fun of you. So, dear men and women of a slightly overweight persuasion, don't go to Restaurante Hermes on the market square; they're really not friendly.

I had a lovely experience at this Greek restaurant. The food was really enjoyable — especially the meat, which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The side dishes didn’t look particularly appealing, but the quality of the meat more than made up for it. Drinks were decent — tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. If you’re hoping to sit on the terrace, I recommend making a reservation in advance — it fills up quickly!

We arrived spontaneously. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating, so we couldn't use the spacious outdoor seating. We quickly found two seats inside. The service was friendly and attentive and brought us the menu promptly. With such a wide selection, it wasn't easy to choose, so we ended up ordering two very generous and delicious dishes. The wait for them was reasonable. The ambiance of the dining room could charitably be described as rustic, but in my opinion, it was rather old-fashioned and dark. The upstairs dining rooms were a bit more welcoming. Unfortunately, we weren't informed of this and were seated by the first person we saw. What a shame!

Very good, reasonably priced, and plentiful lunch. The lunch is excellent in both taste and price. The service is always guest-oriented and professional. The outdoor ambiance is wonderful, with plenty of tables in the shade and some in the sun, but those who prefer to sit in the sun will also find something to enjoy here. The outdoor seating is near a tram stop, and the tram also runs there, but it's still quiet and you can have a wonderful conversation, meaning there are no restrictions in that regard. If I could, I would give more than 5 stars for the lunch and the ambiance.

The food was too salty, the salad, consisting solely of iceberg lettuce, was a joke, and the side dishes were minimal, with some dry rice and a few fries. But the fava beans were the worst, which were like small white beans from a can, and I had to pay a lot more for them. And the wine on the wine list was completely overpriced and definitely not the wine listed—more like simple house wines. We'd been there for a while because the previous owner offered good food with great service, but this isn't recommended, and we felt ripped off.

I was on a business trip to Halle and had a recommendation from a local resident. I sat outside; the atmosphere was lovely on the market square and by the tower. Even during the week, when the weather is nice, there are plenty of night owls out and about. The service was super attentive, and the food and drinks came very quickly. Anyone expecting a chip shop will be disappointed; it was much better. I had the special plate. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the gyros and tzatziki were really tasty. Nothing over-seasoned, really good. I would definitely recommend it!

It's comfortably larger than it looks from the outside. It has three floors. The seating is a bit cramped. The service is friendly and polite. The food is delicious, with no particular surprises. The long walk to the restroom is worth it; it's been renovated.

This was our second time here. The food is really good and the staff is friendly. We were there on a Friday, and the restaurant is very busy then. Still, you don't have to wait too long for the food. However, there was confusion with the bill on both visits. We'll see how it goes next time.

I was sitting in the beer garden and had already placed an order with a waiter. Then I received a call from my nephew. Since I was still waiting for a colleague and was alone, I took the call. During the call, a waiter approached me and interrupted my call. He asked me to order. I indicated to him that I had already ordered. He pointed to the menu. I said I was still waiting for a colleague. That apparently wasn't enough for him. After a brief exchange, he identified himself as the owner and threw me out. I've never experienced such an arrogant and obnoxious "host." My colleague and I then found another restaurant and made about €80 there. The owner of Hermes probably doesn't need that. Well... then... In short, outrageous, no manners toward guests, you're just a profiteer... nothing more! Forgettable, especially given the exorbitant prices. Not recommended!

Friendly service, delicious food

We just about managed to get a table without a reservation. Service was okay. The food was plentiful and delicious.

I actually had a good impression of Hermes. Nice service and flexible with the food. But then, unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. I had to pay extra for a bread basket without being informed beforehand. The reason given was that there is no free bread with main courses, only with starters. This means that if I order a starter for ten euros, I get a free bread basket, but if I order a main course, like me, for 20 euros, I have to pay an extra 2.50 euros for a bread basket. Where is the logic in this? When I asked the service about it, they became quite brusque. Unfortunately, this really tarnished the initially good impression. It doesn't make a good impression and, for me, means I won't be coming here again.

The restaurant is located directly on the market. We needed 11 seats at short notice because another restaurant left us hanging. They really tried to help us and so we sat on the second floor, in a corner all to ourselves. The food was also super tasty. Many thanks again to the entire team.

With its authentic Greek cuisine using fresh ingredients, Hermes clearly stands out from the other Greek restaurants in Halle. No matter whether meat, fish or vegetarian, the food is of a very high standard. The word has gotten around, so it's not easy to get a table if you make a reservation.

Was a little disappointed with the food. Somehow the “oomph” was missing, it was just ok. The ouzo came before the meal, which I only know about Greeks afterwards. Gave me the feeling that the staff simply wanted this "point" taken care of. The staff was attentive, but personally too much for me. You were greeted personally by the “senior boss”, which I really liked. I found the location of the restaurant very good.
