To be honest, I don't think the restaurant is as good as it is described. In our case the sushi wasn't really edible and to be honest we think it's a bit pathetic that in such an expensive restaurant you have to use chopsticks that are mass produced in wood that also splinter, BUT the tartare, the asparagus soup and that Dessert is really commendable 3 stars

The food was excellent. The rooms were a bit cold. The staff were super friendly.

We were there on Saturday evening, November 30th, 2024 with 4 adults. I specially ordered a “Henssler Spezial” for €40 in the hope of filling myself up. I received a small board with nicely arranged sushi bites. Undoubtedly delicious, but I left the restaurant hungry again. What really pissed me off was the fact that I would have liked to drink my wine with dinner and not afterward. If you "take" the bottle of wine away from guests, you should be able to see how full the wine glasses are and refill promptly! If you can't get it together, let it go. It's better to leave the bottle of wine at the table than to expose yourself as a star chef! In addition, it was cold in the restaurant (it was drafting)... No thanks, for 240€/4 people you can eat much better in HH....

The food wasn't perfect but that's a matter of taste. But the ambience has something more like a Schützenzelt. Every centimeter of space here has been filled with inexpensive chairs and tables. This means you don't feel particularly comfortable and it's also quite uncomfortable to sit. The staff was friendly and tried very hard. There's a saying on the wall: "If you eat sushi with a fork, you don't need to sit with us" - arrogant and questionable, especially for beginners like us.

Very attentive and friendly service paired with outstanding quality of food. Delicious and very, very good. When we are in Hamburg, a visit to Henssler is a fixed part of the program whenever possible. I have a hard time with superlatives, but I've never had better dushi anywhere.

Various sushi rolls are simply a treat for the palate. Highly priced but excellent.

Sushi is okay, but not great quality! We paid €54 for three rolls of sushi, to take away! The food wasn't even necessarily enough for a "hollow tooth" for one person! Absolute disaster. They'll never see me there again!

I was there last week and had the best sushi ever! The high quality of the products was easily noticeable, especially after we ate lots and lots of food we still felt very comfortable at our stomachs:)) The only thing is that the general atmosphere of the restaurant is a little bit cold, but it may not change my idea about the restaurant! We reserved our table well in advance for a Saturday evening and were really looking forward to the evening. We really liked the atmosphere, but it is a bit noisy. Our waitresses were professional and very friendly. We ordered the Henssler Mix for two people and a miso soup. Soup and tempura came as starters and were delicious. Unfortunately, the sushi took a good 50 minutes to arrive. The service apologized for this, but some of the tables around us were served with the same order. The sushi was definitely more refined than we were used to, but not necessarily the best we have ever eaten in Germany. An incredible number of flavors and exquisite ingredients are used, sometimes less is more. The truffle ponzo butter was to die for, but apart from the maki there was nothing without topping and that was a bit too much for us. We knew beforehand that the prices were correspondingly high, but we saw no justification for a second visit.

We went there for dinner about 10 days a week ago. At around 7 p.m. only three or four tables were occupied. We know the restaurant very well from many previous visits, but were very disappointed and disillusioned that evening. It started at the reception with a listless host who didn't greet us, but asked his disinterested employee to take our jackets. Afterwards we were handed over to the service, who accompanied us to the table without a word and shortly afterwards brought the card to the table without saying a word. Otherwise an evening would easily last two hours, with the "Omakase" menu it could be longer, but today we had "breakfast" in just over 45 minutes. There is no "Omakase" menu, so we took the "Henssler Mix" - and were disappointed. There is little to complain about the quality of the fish, but I can safely describe the quantity and what is offered in the mix as a joke. We don't call a halved and fanned avocado with mayonnaise sushi. Wafer-thin nigiri, with truffle butter on almost every roll. Poor. The fried vegetables weren't a hit either, as the two prawns couldn't be eaten anymore. The whole thing is for two people, the pictures show the complete amount. So I ask myself, what does a single person get? Bill for the mix, two glasses of wine and a bottle of water €139. Respect. The condition of the toilets has not improved in all these years. Not clean, the gentlemen smell of urine... As we left the restaurant we talked about the evening, but the host himself wasn't particularly interested in our opinion and the employee with the jackets only had the excuse "everything has become more expensive...". Since we were still hungry, which is very rare for my wife, we went to the Reeperbahn for currywurst, fries and burgers. For us this is the last visit to this location.

We had the Hensler Mix menu. First of all - the staff was exceptionally good. Friendly, attentive and helpful. Sushi was actually OK. However, there was a bit of mayonnaise involved. Specifically, drowning the sashimi in mayo is not our expectation when it comes to sushi. Something more purist would be more, especially given the price level.

So with all due respect, HE is a mega entertainer, super likeable and I really like his TV shows... ..but the quality of the sushi is really no more than good standard. We really enjoy eating good quality sushi, but we were really, really disappointed here. Price performance really mega mega disappointing. If this reflects the quality of his other restaurants, then we are not surprised that the shops have closed or even gone bankrupt... The ambience is even more disappointing, comparable to any run-of-the-mill restaurant. The toilets are similar to the toilets in the HSV stadium. Definitely not a recommendation from us... ..you definitely get more in all respects for less money. ..I don't even want to talk about the price aspect... 3 stars only because of the nice service.

I can recommend the restaurant 100%. We were there with two children on our Hamburg trip. We all enjoyed the food. The location was okay but nothing extraordinary. There were tablecloths for the kids to doodle and paint on. Cool idea

Moin Folks, so wie überall, jeder ruft in den Wald und meist kommt es so zurück und der Service sollte gut von uns Gästen behandelt werden, dann klappt auch alles auf Basis einer guten und gemeinsamen Wertschätzung 🤩 Bitte nich falsch verstehen, es geht immer um auf Augenhöhe und wir sollten dankbar sein das es Menschen gibt die uns gerne bedienen und gerne verwöhnen möchten. Hier steht alles auf max. Verwöhnen und alle sind sehr freundlich und sehr aufmerksam 👏👏👏👏👏 Es ist der pure Genuss-Sushi-Tempel und es mundet, immer wieder, geile Abwechslung. Hurra das es Euch gibt und Euch das verzaubern nicht ausgeht👏👏👏👏👏👏

This was the best sushi I've ever eaten in Germany so far! Here you definitely pay for the experience and it was definitely worth it. The dessert was also a dream - it wasn't my last time there!

Sushi with truffles? Maybe you can do it, but please at least dose it appropriately. Unfortunately for me yesterday I was totally over it. But I wasn't interested in the service. Definitely a special experience. The staff is very attentive. Work is surprisingly efficient and quiet in the open kitchen. Really impressive. Apparently Japanese chefs are also employed there. The sushi menu was very good and varied. What unfortunately didn't fit into the overall picture was (as stupid as it may sound) the toilets. It was clean, but the ambience felt like an office. The ambience in general can also be improved. It's a big room with no frills. The prices are also even more exorbitant than you would already expect. About two to three times more expensive than other restaurants. It was good, but not so good that I absolutely have to go again.

Der Empfang um 1830 Uhr war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Lokal war schon zu 3/4 besetzt und wir wurden sofort an einen schönen Tisch entlang der Bank geführt. Kaum abgesessen konnten wir bereits ein Glas Champagner zum Apéro bestellen. Wir entschieden uns für den Henssler Mix, bei dem zuerst Tempura gereicht wurde und anschliessend eine grosse Platte mit verschiedenen Sushi, Sashimi, Maki, Nigiri, die zum Teil sehr einfallsreich und modern angerichtet waren und hervorragend mundeten. Diese Platte war bereits ziemlich reichhaltig und eigentlich waren wir schon fast satt. Trotzdem versuchten wir noch eine Portion (zum Teilen) vom 'Kokosparfait on the rocks'. Das war wirklich ein Traum und besser geht kaum. Das Lokal war früher wohl eine Produktionsstätte und ist umfunktioniert worden zu einem Speiselokal, wie man das heutzutage des öftern antrifft. Der Industrie-Charm ist durchaus noch sichtbar, aber trotzdem verstrahlt das Lokal eine gewisse Gemütlichkeit aus, sodass man sich sehr wohl fühlt. Speziell erwähnen möchten wir die sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Service-Dame, die das Konzept klar erklärt und uns gut beraten hat.

Dear Steffen, The service in your restaurant was okay, but unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The Oyster Shooter in a shot glass was a culinary journey towards a dead end. Then the sushi mix came on completely used wooden boards. The sashimi, consisting of only 5 slices, was terribly cut. The fish on the three nigiri was also poorly cut and overall presented carelessly. The rice was also not convincing in the combination. The inside-out roll was the best part of the dish, but unfortunately the food looked completely different on both wooden boards, even though we ordered the same dish. Overall, we expected significantly more freshness and perfection for the price of around €185 (including drinks). The price-performance ratio is more than inadequate and we are very disappointed. The sushi: absolutely great! But you can expect that for the price. The place is nice, but not particularly cozy. We were a little disappointed with the service. Only when we asked did the gentleman explain to us how ordering the sushi works (how big are the portions? how many rolls should you order?). In addition, he hardly spoke to us. He handed us the dessert menu without saying a word, without even asking if we wanted to order anything sweet. We expected more service in a Henssler restaurant.

Like everything in Hamburg, easily accessible at any time by bus and train, you can find this beautiful piece of fusion cuisine right at the stop on the old Elbstrasse, where, despite no reservation and a full house, you are very kindly assigned a seat - by the Big Boss personally, of course. High-quality food, at proud but fair prices, served by courteous and attentive staff, will make you feel at home here until you say goodbye. Not for those on a budget, but definitely something for connoisseurs and Henssler fans! Thanks.

The employee with the glasses on September 30th was a complete disaster. The first thing we saw was the menus thrown on the table, and we reacted with shock. As a guest, that doesn't matter to me at all! At a restaurant like this and at prices like this, I expect top service. We got up straight away and left the store. NEVER AGAIN!

Disastrous service – unfortunately disappointing My visit to this restaurant was a bitter disappointment, mainly because of the poor service. First of all, we had to wait almost 20 minutes before anyone even greeted us, even though the restaurant wasn't even full. The wait staff was extremely inattentive and seemed like they didn't want to work there. The service had a negative impact on the entire evening - a real shame!

Zu viert haben wir bei Henssler zu Mittag gegessen und dabei den „Henssler Mix“ mit Tempura als Vorspeise und Sushi als Hauptgang gewählt. Alles war sehr köstlich: die Tempura locker und nicht zu fettig, Sushi und Sashimi in einer tollen Mischung von klassisch bis innovativ, z.B. Wolfsbarsch-Sashimi mit Trüffelsauce. Nur der Service war für unseren Geschmack deutlich zu „cool“, wenig aufmerksam und eher gleichgültig, wenn auch freundlich. Das Preisniveau ist grenzwertig hoch, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis damit gerade noch ok - so dass das Henssler für uns sicher kein Stammrestaurant werden wird.

Ich bin oft mit Familie, Freunden, Geschäftspartnern und anderen Gästen, Gäste auf meine Empfehlung hier und durchgängig nur 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Nun, gegen die Wärme ist nicht viel zu machen, der Schuppen, der Lagerhallensaal………., dennoch der Rest, die Servivekräfte sind sehr charmant, sehr aufmerksam und immer freundlich, ja die Küche, das Zauberparadies, die Künstler, die Jünger der geilen Köstlichkeiten….., für mich der Saal des maximalen Genusses, hier liegt die Qualität extrem weit oben und ich erscheine immer gerne, wenn’s etwas zu feiern gibt, herrlich das es Euch gibt, bis die Tage.

Food Poisoning - BE CAREFUL After lunch at this restaurant, my son got very sick from food poisoning. Now he is very sick in a hotel, unable to travel. The only food he consumed is the one at this restaurant: sushi and chicken sticks. Clearly nobody can prove that the poisoning came from that food, but in my view it is nearly certain, and I would like to avoid this from happening to others. Hello dear Henssler team, We would like to thank you again very much for what was an unforgettable evening for us. We came especially from Wiesbaden on our 10th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We have never eaten such delicious sushi. A spontaneous request with a little surprise was also implemented very well (fireworks). We'll definitely be back.

The service staff is very accommodating. The ambience with the open kitchen is a bit loud and the tables are relatively close together. It was impressive to be served warm, moist, lemon-smelling towels at the table, which initially made a great impression, but unfortunately this was lost again after a detour to the location. These were run down and totally dirty. The food was excellently prepared, the salmon was translucent and delicious. However, the side dishes (leaf spinach) as well as the salmon and the surf n turf were soaked in a soy teriyaki sauce, so that the fish/meat taste was unfortunately masked. As a result, the appetite for dessert was no longer there. What a shame!

The food and service was great and of very high quality. You still have the feeling that you are paying for the name. Unfortunately the ambience was somewhat marred by paper tablecloths. We were there at lunchtime.

Was absolutely great! Very attentive service staff. Wonderfully fresh, selected quality, high and at the same time reasonable prices. I don't usually get to throw in Bluefin Tuna, Faroe Salmon Sashimi and Irish Rock Oysters. The wasabi had a good amount of real content and the ginger was clearly home-pickled. All special requests were accepted and implemented with great ease.

**Disappointing and unfortunately not what it used to be** We paid another visit to the Henssler in Hamburg after many positive experiences over the past 15 years, but were unfortunately very disappointed. Once a real highlight of Hamburg's gastronomy, the restaurant now seems to have declined significantly. The service was inattentive and sometimes rude, which is absolutely not the standard you would expect here. There was no warmth or professionalism that always impressed us. Unfortunately, the sushi, which is still very tasty, couldn't save the evening. The portions have now become significantly smaller, while the prices have increased to an extent that is almost borderline. Unfortunately, as a guest you no longer feel valued for the price-performance ratio offered. The behavior of the restaurant manager was particularly disappointing, as he harshly rejected any criticism and gave the feeling that customer opinions didn't matter. Unfortunately, it seems as if the management is ruining the once well-respected restaurant. We very much hope that the Henssler will recover and find its way back to its old strength, because unfortunately we cannot recommend it in this form.

Incredibly rude on the phone! When asked a simple question about how many sushi rolls there are in a plate for 25 euros, Mr. Henssler immediately said: "no time" and hung up! I've never experienced anything like that! I wanted to drive from Wilhelmshaven specifically to eat sushi at Henssler! Das Essen war rundum perfekt! Schon oft Sushi gehabt, aber noch nie besseres!! Dankeschön an die Küche!! Man sieht direkt in die Küche bzw. die Zubereitung des Sushi‘s und die Meister arneiten super entspannt und ruhig! Die Servicemitarbeiterin war trotz vielen Gästen sehr aufmerksam und äusserst freundlich. Es gibt eigentlich nichts zu meckern bis auf dir Temperatur im Restaurant. Es war wieklich unangenehm warm bzw. schon fast heiss. Kenne einige Personen, welche wieder gegangen wären aufgrund dessen. Ansonsten alles top!!

Unfortunately, unfortunately, pure disappointment. We have been eating at Henssler regularly for 15 years and have noticed a lot over the years when it comes to the food, staff and etc. but what we have been experiencing since Corona has been getting worse from time to time and today was the highlight and we are grateful for that because Henssler has taken care of it for us. The sushi rolls have absolutely lost in taste, size of the rolls i.e. proportion of raw fish and the strength of the rolls. The roles completely fell apart. With every handle, they broke. The ship on which the sushi was served was full of rice. The service was a complete disaster. The waiter had no idea about sushi. We weren't asked what we wanted to drink at all. In between, no one came and asked if we wanted something more to drink. At the end I had to get up and ask for the bill. Nobody asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. We always leave a lot of money there. We love sushi and therefore like to spend a lot of money on good food. Today we left 250 euros for two and a child of 8 years. We were among the last guests. The store wasn't full, which doesn't surprise us given the extremely high prices. The waiters were chatting in a corner instead of checking to see if the guests wanted something more to drink or something else. The waiters from before were experts at sushi. These were experts. Waiters like Arne, Amelie, Svenja or Helena etc…. What we have experienced today is not worthy of Henssler or the old days of Henssler and, to be honest, not worth going to. What's interesting is that many regulars have already left the store and we wanted to stay loyal. After today, thank you no. It's done and we don't recommend Konen. A roll for 25 euros is extremely expensive. If the rest were right, you could still do that, but definitely not like this. The store was extremely hot inside. You couldn't sit outside because the terraces were closed. But of course, the guests stay away. We were loyal and almost addicted guests for 15 years and we must have been there more than 500 times. Now it's just super bad.

We had lunch plus and that was just great! Shrimp with three different dips, sea bream fried on pointed cabbage with fried triplets, with a mega truffle butter! The kids had their own card!

Eating is always a real experience. No classic sushi, just Hensler style. Everything is always super fresh and very tasty. The whole thing then has its price.

Very tasty 3-course daily menu. As a starter, avocado salmon tartare. Terrific! As the main course, a redfish fillet on spicy pak choy. Also very tasty. Finally, a sushi roll. This is not freely selectable, but was also very tasty. The ambience is a mixture of canteen flair and fine dining. Personally, I didn't think it was that suitable, but the most important thing is the food. I'd love to come back!

You want to be special, and so are the prices. But the food, service and ambience can't keep up. Sushi was tasty, but not so great that I would come back. The evaluation has to be measured against the prices quoted... And they don't do well there.

The sashimi quality is outstanding, each piece is fresh and full of flavors. The sushi mix impresses with a variety that impresses both visually and in terms of taste. The coconut parfait is an absolute highlight - the combination with passion fruit is brilliant and the licorice cress topping is the icing on the cake. An all-round successful evening that I can only recommend to every sushi lover!

So your sushi mix -mega-giga-ultrasupertrupa is soooo good :) - I don't eat sushi here in Austria because I just don't like it, not even after several tries, but when I tried your sushi mix - with salad, it was also exceptional tasted good, when I ate with you, I was really over the moon - I've never eaten anything so good!, and that after over 50 years and a few crushed ones that I've already had time to try - very, very high praise - just fantastic!!! We went to Henssler Henssler for dinner as a couple on a Friday evening. The location with the large open kitchen is very nice. The atmosphere is a bit industrial style. This is the only point that you can disagree with the restaurant. It is a bit noisy due to the open concept. Otherwise the Henssler Henssler scores across the board. Very fast and attentive service staff. The sushi is fresh, creative and tastes perfectly balanced. The appropriate wine accompaniment is also harmoniously coordinated with the sushi. After leaving the restaurant we made another reservation for our next trip to Hamburg.

The sushi is delicious, the rice is fluffy and the fish is fresh. Friendly staff. But espresso for €4 is absolute extortion for me. Interior ok, not particularly comfortable, more like a train station. Was expecting more.

Four of us ate sushi there and were overwhelmed. Perfectly balanced in taste, very harmonious and subtle, absolutely fair in price. Relaxed, informal atmosphere, no frills.

Moin Folks, nun seit Jahren gehen wir hier zum genießen, ob mit Freunden, Geschäftspartnern, Familie und Bekannte, allesamt bestätigen, der Asiatische Genusstempel schlechthin. Hier passt alles, geile Qualitäten, geile und charmante Aufmerksamkeiten der flotten Servicekräfte, die Küche ist unglaublich Ideenreich , ich, wir „lieben“ es einfach hier und werden immer und immer wieder gerne hier unsere Euronen weiter ausgeben.

Service was super friendly, courteous, competent and quick. Food was super tasty. Everything very clean. Even though it was busy, the atmosphere was great. The staff wasn't stressed.? The wild herb salad was very tasty with avocado and a light dressing. The sushi sashimi platter was again incredibly tasty. The dessert is a hit. Unfortunately we have to withdraw the 5 stars. Unfriendly staff, everything squeezed close together, portions much more expensive but smaller. Unfortunately, the toilets are getting old and weren't that clean either. We won't be coming back.

Die Rollen werden kleiner, die Preise schießen nach oben....man merkt es auch daran dass die Bude nicht mehr annähernd so gut besucht ist wie früher. Für uns ist eine Grenze überschritten....

Sushi, outstanding as always. We had the Henssler Mix for 3 people. Top service and ok, the ambience is just like a fish auction hall, which of course fits the location. Always happy again.

Insanely delicious, you just have to acknowledge that. The price is of course a little higher, but you can taste the quality of the individual ingredients, so it's perfectly fine. The location right down by the fish market in Hamburg is also brilliant, the ambience is just perfect. Super nice staff guarantee the feel-good factor. Clear recommendation!

By far my absolute favorite restaurant! I love Steffen Henssler's food. He always has new ideas and I'm always surprised with the omakase menu. Nothing comes close to Henssler's sushi. Simply great! I travel from Munich to Hamburg several times a year to eat there and would describe myself as a regular. A big compliment to the team there too. Both in the kitchen and in the service. They are all very accommodating and friendly.

We went there for dinner on a Saturday evening. Of course the restaurant was correspondingly full. It did take a little longer to get our food, but anyone who appreciates the effort and love behind the food can certainly understand this. The service staff were very accommodating and friendly, and the food was really tasty. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the prices are appropriate. The only negative point is the volume. If the place is really full on a Saturday evening, you'll have to deal with a fair amount of noise.

Wir kommen seit vielen Jahren regelmäßig nach Hamburg und ein Besuch bei "Henssler Henssler" gehört einfach dazu. Wir hatten wieder einmal den "Henssler-Henssler-Mix" ... sehr lecker und absolut empfehlenswert. Wir werden definitiv wieder hierher kommen :-)

I don't understand some of the negative or weak reviews at all. A PERFECT service, incredibly friendly, courteous and competent. Excellent food. Both my sushi and my friend's steak were excellent. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is also right. Yes, not the cheap take away or running sushi on the corner, but let's be honest, you expect that and actually think sushi is the same as sushi. You have no idea either and maybe it's better not to go to the restaurant. We look forward to seeing you again in Hamburg soon and agree that we have rarely been treated so well 😊😊😊

Food ambience service very good

In order to spend a culinary special birthday evening, we reserved a table at the Henssler Henssler in advance and stated when making the reservation that gluten-free food was required for one person. At first everything wasn't a problem on site, we received a very friendly welcome, the service discussed with us which sushi and dessert options were possible gluten-free. Gluten-free soy sauce was also guaranteed, which was brought to the table in a separate jug. We ordered according to the recommendation. The sushi was very tasty, the quality of the fish was very good and the quantity was also perfectly fine. For dessert there was a sorbet which was very tasty. At this point the review would actually have ended with 5 stars if a gluten accident hadn't occurred quickly after the meal (unfortunately the evening ended in the bathroom). Another source can be ruled out because the last gluten-free meal was many hours ago and the reaction is always very prompt. To this day I don't know where gluten was contained, my guess is one of the sauces that are often made with soy sauce, in the worst case it would be gluten-containing rice vinegar in sushi. Unfortunately, the restaurant never responded to my written inquiry two days after the visit, so I can only give it three stars.
