I come here regularly for dinner and am always amazed by how delicious the food is. The price/performance ratio is very good, and the staff is courteous. Always happy to come back.

Dear owners, Somehow your fries haven't tasted good since our last two visits. You used to be able to dig into your delicious fries... as if you were leaving something out when frying them... they taste bland.🥺 And why is your potato salad (large) to go much more expensive (about €7) than eating in (about €5)? That doesn't make any sense?! The last half chicken we bought from you to take away was so "old" that it was sitting at the bottom of the cupboard instead of on the spit. The otherwise white and delicious meat was hard, brownish, and unfortunately dried out.

The prices are sometimes a bit high, but the food tastes very good. I haven't had any complaints about the service yet. So all in all, I highly recommend it.

Looks delicious? But it was definitely not worth €25.80. My mistake: I didn't ask the price and just ordered half a chicken with fries. The rude awakening came when I paid.

Chef is always there for you! Whether with olive oil or without, whether with chicken oil on your hands or feta cheese in your mouth. Chef is good for you; chicken is always especially crispy from the back. If you want to be treated like chicken, come here, and Chef can do it all, with or without oil. Chef makes chicken hard or soft; if your wallet has too many holes, Chef was inside with tzatziki sauce.

I practically grew up at Hendl & Gretel in Fellbach. I've been coming here regularly since I was a child, and I can honestly say: Nothing has changed over the years, in the best sense of the word! The quality of the food is consistently excellent, the portions are as generous as ever, and the service remains simply unsurpassed. You immediately notice that the work here is done with heart and true passion. The entire team is friendly, attentive, and always strives to ensure that every guest feels completely at home. I would particularly like to emphasize the cleanliness of the shop. Attention is paid to even the smallest detail when it comes to hygiene and order – something that unfortunately isn't always a given in the restaurant industry. To date, I've never had a negative experience, neither with the food, the service, nor the atmosphere. The menu is also impressive: In addition to the famous chicken, there's a diverse selection of dishes, from classic to modern versions, with everything you need. If you like trying new things or are open to new tastes, you'll definitely find something here. There really is something for everyone! For me, Hendl & Gretel is much more than just a restaurant; it's a piece of home, a place steeped in tradition and character. Anyone who appreciates honest food, friendly service, and a refined ambiance is in the right place.

I dined here 3 different times during a 10-day stay in Fellbach, and I’m from the US. I was very pleased with the service, and the food! Cute interior with tables for small groups or larger (8-10 people) groups, and a shaded Biergarten option for outdoor dining. They do have parking for 5 or so cars immediately outside. Super easy to get to this restaurant as it’s right across the street from the Biskedenstraße stop off of the U1. I also liked that they’re open late for takeaway, as many Fellbach restaurants close at 8pm! I was craving a salad after eating multiple meals at other restaurants with heavier fare. Hend’l & Gretel offered a bowl with salad greens, a light mustardy vinaigrette, warm basmati rice, and a cucumber and tomato salad. It was exactly what I wanted. This is one for few local restaurants I visited that served chicken, and their chicken schnitzel is delicious. Our servers were very accommodating during all 3 visits, speaking in English to us and guiding us to menu choices. If I ever find myself in Fellbach again, Hend’l & Gretel will be on my list!

We drove to Stuttgart on May 1st on the way to Ulm to have lunch at Hendl & Gretel and were not disappointed. The chicken was first class! Very tasty and visually pleasing too. The service was very friendly and we sat outside nicely.

My top chicken restaurant far and wide. There is no alternative in the greater Stuttgart area. For many years I have only come here when it comes to chicken. The selection is good and even for people who don't like grilled chicken there are burgers, schnitzels etc. The staff is great, personable and friendly. Even if the store is packed, the boys still have time for a chat and a joke. The BBQ sauce is awesome. I'm looking forward to the terrace again in the summer.

I chose this place based on the Google rating, but I'm totally disappointed. Before I ordered, I asked the waiter whether the cheese spaetzle was homemade, and the answer was: yes, of course! I asked the other waiter again after serving and he confirmed it, but the spaetzle wasn't homemade. In terms of taste, it wasn't the burner for €15, unfortunately the Hendl Platter XL didn't convince me either. Overall, I wouldn't go there again.

Food tastes great. However, it has become very expensive and the portions are smaller. Unfortunately, the Halal certificate was also withdrawn. According to the employees it is still Halal.

In the evening we bought half a BBQ Händl with fries and a Back Händl with fries. Both tasted quite good, although the fries were still crispy when we got home. Only the skin of the BBQ chicken was a little soggy due to the sauce. I might offer the sauce separately or something. It was a shame because the skin is supposed to be the best part of the chicken. Otherwise the meat wasn't dry and had a good taste. Definitely worth a visit :)

I was there for dinner with my girlfriend last week. Three days later we both suddenly had a severe fever and diarrhea - at the same time and with the same course. There is a lot to suggest that it is related to going to a restaurant. We both had different dishes, which raises suspicions of poor hygiene or improper storage. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, but health should be a top priority. That's why I hope the restaurant reviews and improves its operations. Unfortunately it was a very unpleasant experience for us and we will not be coming back.

I recently paid almost 35 euros for a whole chicken with fries and 1 coke. With only average quality of food. I found it pretty intense. But okay, I won't go there anymore. And now I have to be told that it was only 23.50. But I paid almost 35. So I was cheated out of 10 euros. Doesn't make the situation any better.

The front seating area was pretty cramped. Or rather, everything was pretty cramped there. It was impossible for two people to get in at the entrance. If someone was still waiting for pickup, you had to wait until they were finished. The food was okay, and the prices were just about right.

We had a very pleasant visit! The service was extremely nice and attentive. We were particularly pleased with the child-friendliness - the little ones were able to occupy themselves with art supplies while we were able to enjoy our food in peace. In this restaurant, the enjoyment only trumps the warm hospitality of the owners by a hair. It may have been my first time sitting here, but I'm 100% certain it won't be the last! The taste was okay, but it didn't offer any special highlights that would be remembered. The service, on the other hand, stands out a little more positively, with 4 out of 5 stars. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the visit more pleasant. The ambience also gets 3 out of 5 stars. The atmosphere is nice but nothing extraordinary. It's a little missing that certain something that makes the stay special. Another point is the parking options, which unfortunately are only available to a limited extent. This can be a bit tedious depending on the time of day. In my opinion, the prices are on the higher end, which pushes the overall rating down slightly. Overall, an acceptable restaurant with light and shade, which I would recommend with mixed feelings.

We (70 and 73) have been enjoying coming to “Knoblauch Händl” 3-5 times a year for several years now and it is ALWAYS BEST. But the other dishes we have already tried are also very good 👍. The atmosphere is extremely appealing and the service is always friendly and helpful. Thank you very much ❤️

Employees are always very friendly and accommodating. The terrace is also very pleasant in summer, just keep in mind that it is right next to the street and it can get a little louder at peak times. As a successor to the Vienna Forest, they keep the food offerings at the same level. There's nothing wrong with the food. It simply tastes great. The portions are not excessive, but just right to fill you up. However, you should avoid special requests that deviate slightly from the menu. When I asked for a Kristallweizen Radler, I was told that they could bring me a Kristallweizen and a glass of sweet sparkling water... I then decided on a normal Kristallweizen. There were three of us, two adults and one child for dinner. Children's menu, two dishes for adults (wrap and citizen) and a drink for each... cost around €45. A fair price for the good quality. They are welcome to do some work on the service. The best way to get there is to take the subway, as the parking situation on site isn't exactly great. All in all... Recommended! ☺️👍🏻

We were two families with children and came into the restaurant and were about to sit down until an older waiter rudely told us that the children should be quiet and if we didn't like that we could leave. Weird shop. First we wait a long time for a table without any of the three employees acknowledging us while we waited. Cleaning utensils stand on a table while guests wait for a free table. Then a table becomes available and we order. I chose a Greek farmer's salad. A mini portion of salad comes to the table for 14.90 euros. People really seem to have lost touch here. After a direct complaint to the staff and after a short discussion, I was served an additional portion of the salad with the information that the same or smaller quantity would cost more at other restaurants in Stuttgart. I stick with it: there is little for a lot of money here.
