Accessibility and a disabled toilet are always important to me. Both were good. Personally, it was too noisy in the back area. The vegan/vegetarian food options were delicious.

Overall a very good experience, the food, the staff, and the atmosphere is really good.

Simply fantastic! Great beer (Augustiner), fast service, delicious food (the schnitzels have been larger), and a fantastic atmosphere. Whether inside or outside, a fantastic evening is guaranteed.

They definitely put effort into the breading, and the staff is very friendly. But the prices are so ridiculously high. €20 for a schnitzel, and it doesn't come with any side dish like fries, potatoes, or salad. It's really just a plate of schnitzel. So, with a side dish and a drink, you'll spend at least €30 per person. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic evening, either, as you sit at large beer tables with other guests. It looks more like a cafeteria. If you're out with colleagues in a group and the prices don't bother you, it's a good choice. The food was good, but not exceptional.

We were there with a large group, and the space and table size were great. Service was initially fast. The filling marks are apparently only seen as a suggestion; despite asking whether their glasses were never filled up to the filling mark, the only response was that it would be passed on. The sizes of the dishes varied so much that we wondered if some of them were serving children's portions. At least they tasted good. The kitchen certainly didn't do itself any favors with the dessert (Kaiserschmarrn). The best part was the apple compote... Perhaps the concept is designed for tourists to visit in one go, but unfortunately, there's a lot missing to encourage them to come back or recommend it to others... The speed, however, was incredible. We had our food for 14 people within 20 minutes. It's a shame, because the menu really promises a lot with its creations, especially since the schnitzels and burgers, as well as the Cordon Blues, were truly delicious.

Once again, the "Heimwerk-Altstadt" absolutely impressed us 👍 Despite being fully booked, the service was calm, super friendly, and fast! The schnitzels were perfect and the fries were hot 🔥 A 100% recommendation for all schnitzel lovers!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+

For the brewery vibe, the portions can be a bit larger, but all the waiters are very friendly and always have a good joke :)

Overall, it was a very strange experience: The drinks arrived promptly, but we had to wait an unreasonably long time for the food. The schnitzel was extremely dry, without any side dish, sauce, or even a slice of lemon – and even simple side dishes had to be ordered and paid for separately, which is completely unreasonable given the price. Finally, there were chaotic scenes at the checkout: a QR code that was supposed to lead to the app download didn't work, and only after noticeable displeasure was a card payment finally accepted. Not a place I would visit again.

Good food, the atmosphere is quite loud, at least in the hall in the back of the restaurant, but the rest looks better. Many vegan options available. The service was mostly very kind and fast available 👍 Many good Alcohol free options to drink 🍸

We sat outside, which was the best decision ever. It was well lit, and the heaters made it comfortable even in the evening. The service was very attentive, and the food was simply wonderful. There's something for everyone.

A great, relaxed location on the edge of the old town, away from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of outdoor seating, soaking up the sun. Delicious beer (Augustiner) and a traditional Bavarian menu. The choice of two portion sizes is great. The interior is also large, but always busy. Reservations are highly recommended. The staff is very friendly.

Saturday around 7:00 PM the drinks came quickly, but we had to wait almost an hour for the food, too bad they didn't tell us that. The veal schnitzel was very tasty.

Good place to get a Wiener Schnitzel, although a bit expensive (I ordered the Bergkäseschnitzel, just for little cheese €5 extra, but it tasted good). Yesterday, Saturday, it was more or less crowded, so we waited long until we got our food. But ok. The staff very very nice, very friendly.

You regularly have to wait more than an hour for your food. The quality of the food itself is good but it's not worth the wait. Meanwhile, you only get the opportunity to order a drink sporadically. Unfortunately I can't recommend it.

Great restaurant with great employees! Always friendly and tries to make the guests feel good. When it comes to eating, I can only give the visual impression of the food at the neighboring table. It all looked very tasty! But what I would definitely like to mention is the flexibility in meal sizes. If you don't have much of an appetite, just order a small quantity. This protects food and the guest's wallet too. We would go there again in a heartbeat and can only recommend it!

Totally unfriendly and lazy staff… owners where are you? Made us sit in the corner because they are too lazy to walk 2 meters… whole place empty… CUSTOMER should be able to choose where they want to sit…. Can’t substitute any food… fries are fries… what different does it make??? Get your stuff together… nobody there to greet you when you enter… nobody cares…

We've been here several times to eat schnitzel, but we remembered the schnitzel as something that was "just like that". Today we were pleasantly surprised: the schnitzels were really tasty and super juicy! Right at the beginning, the friendly waitress apologized for the fact that not all types of schnitzel were available and informed us transparently about it. We chose a classic pork schnitzel and a veal schnitzel - both were there and really excellent. The food came quickly, the service was very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

We had to wait a long time and the food was too expensive for the quality

Super delicious vegan schnitzels. The “meat” dishes come from “species-appropriate husbandry” as it says everywhere on the menu. Unfortunately, nowhere, not even on the website, was it transparent to read WHERE the animals were “kept in a species-appropriate manner” and what HeimWerk meant by that.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite the place not being full, I had to wait over 15 minutes just to be seated. Once they realized I don’t speak German, the service noticeably changed—the staff took a long time to come over and take my order, and I was left waiting much longer than the local guests around me. When the food finally arrived, the schnitzel I ordered was burned. It was meant to be crispy, but it was overcooked and tasteless. No one bothered to check in to ask if everything was okay, even though I noticed the waiters checking on every German-speaking table around me. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place—not for the food, and certainly not for the way non-German speakers are treated by the staff.

A cozy little party place! Good food, good environment!

Unfortunately it was extremely loud in the shop and there was a draft because the door was open the whole time. It's not super comfortable to sit on either, as the benches don't have anything to lean on. But the service is super nice and the cheese spaetzle was actually the best thing I've eaten in a long time. The passion fruit spritzer I drank was also delicious. So I would come again and again. You should definitely reserve a table here in advance.

Everything was delicious! portions large, I had the format of snack, my boyfriend has a meal. There are almost ten types of schnitzels on the menu — that’s awesome! 😁 The interior matches the vibe of the place, everything was clean and pleasant, and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed it! 💖

We have an annual trip to Düsseldorf for business, and I always make it a point to have dinner at HeimWerk. Food is absolutely delicious, nothing beats the potato salad and last time I had a delicious mocktail with it. Definitely still coming back in years to come.

What can you say... They were "just" schnitzels, but they were great. We decided on veal and can only warmly recommend it. Be sure to eat it with the incredibly delicious potato salad. That was the highlight. We also liked the fact that you can order the normal or snack size of almost everything. This way you can also test different things. The service was attentive and friendly and catching the last rays of sunshine in front of the house was a great place for dinner.

Sehr viel Luft nach oben. Geschäftsphilosophie auf einem Niveau, welches hart an der Grenze ist. 2 Stücke Fleisch auf dem Teller, ohne jegliche Beilage für 18€ aus denen noch der Fleischsaft lief. Knochenharte Panade. Beilage kostet 5.50€ Aufpreis. Wir sind gerne in Düsseldorf aber das hat uns wirklich geschockt. So schlecht haben wir noch nie gegessen. Die guten Bewertungen sind nicht nachvollziehbar oder sind die Ansprüche inzwischen so im Keller?!? Nein Danke! Ich hoffe sehr auf grundlegende Änderungen in der Geschäftsführung...

Everything's great, gladly again!

The restaurant feels more like a tavern because of the seating arrangements. Even though you don't really get your own table unless you come with a big group, I think each of us had enough space. We ordered 3 different schnitzels and 2 sides. My favorite was the veal schnitzel with cheese. I think it had the best seasoning of all 3 and it was the most tender. The pork schnitzel with mustard was also good. I am not really a fan of cordon bleu, but this I liked this one. The sides were delicious. We had the coleslaw and the roasted potatoes. Paired with good beer, and you have a great dinner. The service was a bit slow though, so you must have a little patience.

The food was excellent, as was the service. We sat in the back, where it is very very loud (through a glass roof), but unfortunately also very loud.

We were there with a group of 7 people. The location is really nice, bright and friendly. The service staff was friendly, quick and attentive. The price is very fair, also because there is a small and a normal portion of almost every dish. There is also free, fresh drinking water from the tap. So far, good. 😊 Unfortunately, the food wasn't convincing at all. 🙈 The rösti patty from the burger was very hard/crispy and tasted burnt. For dessert there are only Kaiserschmarrn in 4 variations, also vegan, which is a plus point. Unfortunately, neither the consistency nor the taste had anything to do with Kaiserschmarrn. It was more of an unfortunately badly burnt, shredded pancake that was fried in way too much sugar and drowned in caramel syrup (not sauce). The quality needs to be improved. 🙂

That was nothing. After a long day in Düsseldorf, we wanted to end the day with good food. The ambience is nothing special. Not a cozy atmosphere where you want to linger for long. The waiters adapt to the ambience. Good service looks different. We were told a stupid thing right at the beginning because we were with several people. The food was not prepared at all decoratively or aesthetically. The salad is decorated in large pieces and it didn't taste good either. Anyone looking for a good Düsseldorf ambience will be disappointed. We then quickly left and didn't come back.

The veal schnitzel and burgers were okay. The chicken was impressive. The beer (Augustiner) tasted good with it. The service was commendable, friendly, fast, and omnipresent (in a positive way). Overall, however, the open space was very loud. It's not suitable for a large group chat. You can only hear your immediate neighbor and the person sitting opposite.

If you like schnitzel, this is the place for you, but it's a bit noisy for stimulating conversation. The food (veal schnitzel, potato salad and Kaiserschmarren) was really good, I would have had an aperitif (Aperol Spritz) at another location beforehand. We'll be back!

They just starting breakfast period from 0930am onward and to tell you all it’s super delicious. I had Hearty Breakfast which is eggs bacon and potatoes and German Sausage which I was told it’s a tradition German sausage that served here not to mention Gesa who taken care of us with everything. We had nice time eating here at Heimwerk. Definitely check it out if you are in Düsseldorf old town area. ✌️👍

By far the best schnitzels I have ever eaten! The taste reminds you from the preparation to the enjoyment, pretty much how the chef pounded the schnitzels.

Visiting IDS we decided to stay in Düsserdorf. So we had dinner at the comparable one! Classic beer bar, with very good and fast service. Food very tasty. Schnitzel in all its forms. On my plate, the amount of meat should not have exceeded 80 grams. I was very hungry (I left Athens at 5 in the morning and from Frankfurt I went straight to the exhibition) but the portion was really on the limit. Too much fuss. You can't easily to talk with your company. But we were living people. Would I eat here again??? YES...

There are many different types of schnitzel. You actually create your own plate by choosing the meat, coating and side dish. The best part is that if you are not hungry enough to have a main course, you get a half portion when you order it as a “snack”. I got the crispy chicken + roasted potato snack. It was very filling and good. The tables and benches are not comfortable, we could not sit and eat for a long time. The sink was very dirty, I did not expect this.

Very tasty food, lots of vegan options, the vegan celery schnitzel was great and the truffle mayo is also vegan & very tasty and truffley! And there are Augustiner Helles, which you rarely see in Düsseldorf! ☺️ It's just a shame that the mushroom schnitzel is only vegetarian and not vegan, maybe that can be changed in the future 😉 The staff are also very friendly, but the volume is quite high due to the space.

We were there for dinner with a larger group. The large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes impressed us. The only drawback was that it was very busy on Saturday evening and unfortunately the service suffered a little as a result. Two small veal schnitzels, lukewarm fried potatoes with no taste and a colslaw that looks like it comes from a can. And unfortunately for €30 it's not what I would have expected. I'm disappointed.

The worst Kaiserschmarrn of my life – a culinary disappointment I don't even know where to start. I love Kaiserschmarrn – light, airy, slightly caramelized, a pleasure that melts in your mouth. But what I was served here was a complete disappointment. The first plate arrived: burning hot, but the Kaiserschmarrn itself was cold. This already suggested that it was not freshly prepared. A suspicion that was confirmed with the first bite. The consistency was reminiscent of stale bread soaked in sugar water, without any lightness or flavor. No trace of fluffy, caramelized Kaiserschmarrn - instead a bland, mushy mass. To be fair, I gave him a second chance. This time the dish was warm throughout, but unfortunately the taste was just as disappointing. Either a ready-made mixture was used or the preparation was simply incorrect. The art of whipping egg whites correctly doesn't seem to be known in the kitchen. The rest of the food wasn't convincing either: the schnitzel was extremely greasy, the fries looked like they had been fried several times in old oil. It was particularly unfortunate that despite these shortcomings no solution was offered. A gesture of accommodation would certainly have improved the impression, but instead the full price was charged as if everything had been perfect. If you want to enjoy real Kaiserschmarrn, you should look for a better alternative.

We had dinner there on Shrove Monday and had a lovely time. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The service is very nice and attentive.

We were spontaneously in Düsseldorf and came across DIY by chance - a real stroke of luck! The service was extremely friendly and helpful. We were particularly impressed with the schnitzel: the breading was perfect – golden brown, crispy and yet pleasantly light. The meat was of excellent quality, super tender and juicy. A big plus is that many of the ingredients come from the region, which you can definitely taste. A great restaurant with great food and an honest, sustainable philosophy - we'd love to come back!

Food was very tasty, cordon bleu filled with black forest and obazda was a hit! We didn't know that before. Backhändl was neat and juicy. Basil-lime mayo dip (homemade) was also great. Service was friendly and quick. Ambience cozy and modern. Definitely a recommendation 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
