Good food, unfortunately we had to wait almost half an hour for a table despite having a reservation.

As for the restaurant, well. We arrived from 5:45 p.m. and had reserved a table. Aside from the fact that the table was dirty and the food was served so quickly, I have to admit, how did the kitchen manage that? But the highlight was our waiter, "Niguel." The bill arrived. We paid in cash with a tip, and he gave us a lecture about how the tip wasn't enough for him. So, folks, "GASTHAUS HEIMATHAFEN" is a no-go for me. As a Hamburger, I'm ashamed that such a place exists.

The wait staff were very friendly and attentive (thanks Svenja). The food was truly delicious; I've rarely had such good fried potatoes or fish soup (thanks to the kitchen). The atmosphere was very cozy, with warm lighting, subtle light music in the background, clean tables, chilled drinks just the way I like them, no long waits, and, in my opinion, the price/performance ratio was completely OK. All in all, we were absolutely thrilled and will visit you again. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

We visited there for the first time yesterday and were absolutely thrilled; it's a fantastic restaurant. The service was really friendly and attentive (thanks, Svenja). The food was exceptionally delicious and very tasty. The menu selection leaves nothing to be desired, and any special requests are accommodated. The price/performance ratio is absolutely excellent in our opinion. The interior is very cozy, clean, and nicely lit. The background music was played at a low volume, which we enjoyed. Conclusion: Highly recommended; we'll definitely be back.

We arrived 20 minutes late for a reservation, but no problems! After pausing for 5 minutes, we were given a new table! Highly recommended! Super fast service and incredibly friendly! We went back a day later, and the service and food were top-notch again! Definitely worth a visit! We'd go back anytime!

The food arrived at the table less than 10 minutes after ordering. My schnitzel was a bit overcooked. The food seemed as if it had already been waiting in the kitchen. The service, however, was very friendly.

It was our first time there – it was actually delicious, but unfortunately the food was lukewarm. My partner also wanted to know a few things about the fish soup, but unfortunately, they couldn't really help us due to communication problems. Otherwise, it was good – the service was very friendly and they constantly checked in to see if everything was okay, etc. They were very attentive to our needs.

Here you can get good food at a reasonable price, and it's very fast. It's right across from the Baumwall subway station.

We were seated immediately without a reservation, but it was also 5 p.m. Delicious food (including fried potatoes!), although one of the four dishes wasn't hot enough, but it arrived very quickly. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed with the service: no one asked when the food was being served, and no one asked when the table was being cleared.

We had dinner here. Good value for money and very good and friendly service. Fatima served us 👍🏼 Kudos. Unfortunately, our dessert options (raspberry, crumble, etc.) were out of choice, but that's no use, next time 😎

We wanted to try German cuisine whilst visiting and got recommended Gasthaus Heimathafen. The atmosphere is wonderful, we all enjoyed our dishes (the pork schnitzel with mushroom sauce is crispy and delicious). They serve good beer, the staff is wonderful. If you want to experience a little piece of Hamburg, check out this restaurant!

We spontaneously popped in yesterday and ate there. The gentleman at the entrance didn't make a very pleasant impression with his rude gestures and facial expressions, but the waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious.

Highly recommended, great food, super fast and very attentive service. Great atmosphere, even if it doesn't look that great from the outside. It's rare that I have nothing to complain about, but here I was completely satisfied. Dogs are welcome and are given a bowl of water without asking. Not much, but very tasty vegetarian and vegan options.

Went to this restaurant based on the ✋ review and were not disappointed. Quaint and cozy interior, relaxed atmosphere. Good beer 🍺 and very tasty food at reasonable prices, what more could you want? The server was unobtrusive but on the ball, and the drinks and food came to the table relatively quickly. I had the burger with fried potatoes, which is highly recommended. My companion had the fish stew with plenty of fish, which you don't get everywhere. At the end of the meal, we received a tip for the next day; all in all, a clear recommendation. I can't say whether there is parking, as we walked there. We were lucky with a table; you usually have to reserve a table for dinner.

We were at Heimathafen on August 26, 2025. We reserved our table online. Everything went perfectly. The reception was friendly, and our server introduced himself by name. It was very pleasant. The wait for the food was very short. The food was exceptionally delicious. The service was excellent. The value for money was absolutely excellent. We would definitely go back on our next visit to Hamburg.

Talking about a Master Class in Restaurant running. My son and I went there yesterday for Dinner. It was a busy evening, Saturday evening no less. Despite having no reservation we had a table in under 10 minutes. The server came less than 5 minutes later to take our drink order. Right after that a group of no less than 20 people arrived and was seating right next to us. I though "this is not going to end well". But boy was I wrong, the server called in re-inforcements and our food order was taken in between the order s from the group. In the hour we were there those guys never missed a beat, never missed an additional order or messed up one. Half way through my meal I ordered another beer and that was delivered within 5 minutes while another 6 orders from the other table rolled in. Absolutely amazing. Our food came within 15 minutes and it was delicious. The interiour of the place wasn't that impressive but if you ever want to see how to handle crowds during crunch time I highly recommend this place.

This was our second visit to this location. It's very centrally located in the Speicherstadt district and near the Elbphilharmonie. The pan-fried fish was okay, a bit overcooked but tasty.

We went there spontaneously. The restaurant is right on the main road, so you can't really call it quiet. We got a table quickly. With a 4.4 rating on Google, we were happy to be in a restaurant with such good reviews. We ordered burgers with fried potatoes and one pan-fried fish with fries. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was okay, but nothing more. For us, it had more of a tourist restaurant feel. What's absolutely terrible are the restrooms. The smell of urine hit you as soon as you walked down the stairs. The restrooms looked the part. The same opinion was shared at the neighboring table, as we overheard. Absolutely unacceptable. Based on our experience, we wouldn't recommend it as a "must-visit" place.

Highly recommended! Don't let the scaffolding in front of the door put you off. The interior has a rustic atmosphere, and the service (Svenja) is fantastic, super friendly and prompt despite the busy hours! The burgers are a hit, as is the fried fish, generous kids' menus, and there are art supplies for the kids to tide you over. Simply wonderful.

If you come from a country where they really eat well, like Spain, for example, this place will certainly seem quite ordinary to you. I don't know if this is considered good in German cuisine. This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so I'm not sure about the prices... But it was really delicious. I visited Hamburg, Berlin, and Dresden, and it was the best German food I've ever had. The pan fish was the best. There's another pickled herring? It's similar to the sailor's dish. If you're like me and prefer fish and seafood over meat, you'll probably enjoy it. Otherwise, it's a matter of taste. Just get the pan fish!!! I finished the dessert, but it was a little disappointing. I wanted to have cake, but there wasn't any, so I ordered it. My friend said it was a bit difficult to recommend. She said it tasted like something out of a kindergarten meal. Haha. Just for reference.

The BBQ burger with fries is absolutely fantastic. The fried potatoes are a 12/10. We also had the fried plaice. That's also highly recommended.

Public Transport / Parking U3 Baumwall subway station is right outside, with plenty of parking spaces and parking garages within walking distance. Entrance Area / Ambience Ground-level entrance; the building is currently undergoing renovations, so it's not exactly "fancy." Otherwise, the facade is very nice! The decor is supposed to evoke a North German parlor, very nicely executed. Staff / Service You're "intercepted" and seated at the entrance; this is now common practice in tourist restaurants. The advantage, of course, is that no guests wander around the restaurant or use the restrooms for free. The service is, as expected, very good and high-quality, and the staff is excellent. There was *no* begging for tips! [Unfortunately, this point has to be mentioned *extra* in 2025!] Drinks There's a good selection of German beers (I had the dark craft beer, very drinkable and with a good flavor) on tap and in bottles, as well as various non-alcoholic drinks, wines, and spirits. Food There's a *small*, straightforward menu with the usual typical North German cuisine and a proper Viennese veal schnitzel, which I enjoyed. As a local, I know most of the dishes, so I chose the schnitzel. I rarely rate individual dishes, as tastes generally vary, but I'll make an exception here. I was intrigued, especially because of the price of this dish. The veal schnitzel was very tender and delicious and is highly recommended. Unfortunately, there are very few restaurants these days that even have this dish on their menu. The fried potatoes weren't exactly my taste, but that's because of the potatoes. Payment You can pay with cash or card, and tips are also accepted. Restrooms Unfortunately, as is common practice, they are located in the basement via stairs, making them very difficult to access for wheelchair users. Very clean by Hamburg standards and a nice showcase for this restaurant. Conclusion: I have to admit, I was expecting a "tourist restaurant" like the ones you'll find everywhere in Hamburg serving German cuisine. I was very pleasantly surprised; for this price range, it's great. I'll probably try the other dishes as well. A great concept working here! I hope it will satisfy many more guests.

The food was delicious and much better than the Italian restaurant across the street from the Elbphilharmonie. The restaurant has a very nice, rustic decor. We enjoyed our visit, especially the fact that there was a special menu for children to color in. We'd love to go back!
