It's especially gorgeous outside by the lake. 🥰 Inside, it's cozy but feels a bit "old-fashioned."

The photos all look great, but in reality, it was completely different. The fried potatoes were very old, partially burnt, and obviously from yesterday or the day before. You can tell they'd been reheated many times. The baked potatoes were just as old and rubbery. We went to the restaurant on our wedding day, what a disappointment!

We had veal schnitzel, but unfortunately, it's not pan-fried until crispy, but deep-fried. It's very greasy, which is obvious just by looking at it. The waiter simply told us that things must be moving very quickly in the kitchen. The second waiter offered us a free coffee after our meal 😅 Sorry, it's just too expensive for that...

Very nice atmosphere, generous portions, friendly service. The patio could use some renovation to make the floor more level and remove dust. The burger bread was a bit dry. Overall, a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

The outdoor area is superb. Unfortunately, the food yesterday was not to be recommended. The beetroot carpaccio was very carelessly slapped onto the plate and not seasoned at all. The burgers and fries were served similarly. Unfortunately, not all of the ingredients listed on the menu were in the burger. They were then, in a huff, brought out later for me to add my own toppings. Although I've had some really delicious meals there before, this time it was a disappointment. The young staff were very friendly, even though they were under enormous pressure. Many thanks to the young people for creating a pleasant atmosphere.

Great staff, delicious food, but unfortunately poor organization. In beautiful weather, the terrace was very full and the staff really did their very best. Unfortunately, everyone was overwhelmed, not because they weren't well trained, but because one full-time server + two plate carriers is simply not enough. Everyone did their best, but there weren't enough staff for too many guests. Thanks to the great service team! To the boss: please hire more staff, even if it's just to clear away and wipe tables. Everyone who worked in service today did a fantastic job, but they can't keep up for long! Unfortunately, the kitchen was also slow to keep up and forgot orders. Perhaps a few fewer tables will have to suffice. Unfortunately, not all guests are understanding, and the great service staff don't deserve that. The young woman who served us is a fantastic server!

Very friendly service... delicious food... reasonable prices. I do have two points of criticism, though: the women's restrooms in the basement were very dirty and clogged... unfortunately, they haven't served ice cream for dessert, and it seems they haven't for some time. There were five of us, and we would have all loved to have ice cream for dessert, as advertised on the menu, but unfortunately, there wasn't any... What a shame.

We were invited there for a silver wedding anniversary celebration. It was a fantastic location, right on the water. The couple celebrating their anniversary had chosen the lakeside house. The service was excellent, the buffet was fantastic, and it was an all-around enjoyable evening.

A 300% improvement over the previous one: friendly staff, extensive menu, a successful mix of old and new, comfortable seating in various rooms...definitely worth a visit!

I'd like to point out right away that the 3 stars for the food are solely due to the fact that they don't have any cakes or ice cream. So, of course, the afternoon menu was very limited. But the apple strudel was delicious; it didn't seem homemade, but it was still delicious. The ambiance is simply a dream, an absolute dream. You're sitting right in the nature reserve by the water. We're invited there for a birthday party soon, and I'll write more about the food then.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on Sunday and sat outside. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. The only annoying thing was that a main course arrived at the table incorrectly and had to be remade. This meant that my husband and I couldn't eat at the same time. If you're going out to eat, you want to eat together. They apologized briefly, but didn't offer any small compensation, like a free drink. We thought that was good service. The food was okay. We thought the portion of fried potatoes was too small. What was really good was the Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. We don't know yet whether we'll come back.

The ambiance is coherent. We sat outside, but the interior also looked good. The food was okay except for the brucceta. The bread wasn't crispy, but rather soggy and sloppy from the tomatoes.

Amazing, but this romantic, rural gem is still part of Hamburg. 💜

The restaurant is really great. Nice ambiance and great service. Unfortunately, the food was only "okay." Fried potatoes as a side dish cost 5 euros and are a tiny portion.

It’s great to see that the menu now includes explicitly vegetarian and vegan options! The portion sizes are great, but I think the flavours could have been more pronounced, there wasn’t much seasoning used. Also, almost €6 to add a little tofu is quite steep. Overall, I’d like to see the menu expanded to include more options!

We only ate outside, but it was wonderful. The service was excellent, superb. Unfortunately, no lunch menu. Prices were normal, I'd say. The food was good to very good and beautifully presented.

We had a celebration with 25 people in a small room in the main building. The food was excellent and the service was attentive. Despite the number of guests, we were able to order a la carte, and the food arrived in time for everyone to start eating together. Thank you so much for the lovely evening at the Alte Mühle.

I visited the "Alte Mühle" for the first time yesterday, and I was impressed not only by the location right on the lake. Despite the bad weather, the restaurant was very busy. The interior is very cozy, the service is very attentive, and the food (cheeseburger and Kaiserschmarrn) is delicious. I also highly recommend the Pinot Gris! I'll be back; next time when the sun is shining!

Den Apero haben wir draussen getrunken. Dann im Saal Menü bestellt. Das essen war lecker. Zum Kaffee gabs kein Creme dazu, obwohl wir Kaffee Creme bestellt haben. Als ich mit Credit Karte bezahlen wollte funktionierte das nicht, auch mit der 2. Karte gings nicht. Ich MUSSTE Cash bezahlen. Ich fragte nach, was das Problem sei. 2 Service Personen sagten unfreundlich, wissen wir nicht!!! Keine Mühe gemacht, um das Problem zu lösen. Taxi wurde uns nicht bestellt, und als wir raus gingen kein Merci und Adieu. Sehr Unfreundliches Personal.😡🫣🫣🫣

I have to say I have a bit of a preconceived notion about the old mill. Half of my family got married there. Now the old mill has become much more attractive with new owners and offers an absolutely beautiful overall concept.

A lovely beer garden by the pond, although the terrace is a bit dusty due to the sandy ground. The food is okay, but the pan-fried fish with fried potatoes was unfortunately very greasy and not cooked very well. The service was excellent.

Unfortunately, the staff were completely overwhelmed and rude. "Could I order something?" (After 30 minutes!) "Yes, you can, but can they...?" No words. Left...

Rarely have I experienced such unfriendly service staff....were ignored for a long time, then immediately yelled at when we dared to ask for a table...then we were not served for over 30 minutes...we left again...you don't need to put up with that...sorry, never again

Today was my third and final visit to this restaurant. After making a reservation, we sat down at a dingy table that was then cleaned only moderately well. Drinks were good and quick. A friendly, genuinely engaging server. Bruschetta, delicious tomatoes on bread that hadn't been toasted long enough. I received my veal schnitzel on time. By far the worst veal schnitzel I've ever eaten. It was already dead when it went into the pan, but there it had to die another dry death. My friend got his burger with fries, but then he asked for ketchup. The owner brought the burger and accepted a polite question about ketchup, and the answer, you wouldn't believe it: "If I come out again in the next 45 minutes, they'll get their ketchup"!? So there was no ketchup today. What kind of answer is that? So, the bottom line: don't accept too many guests (the wedding was also in the barn) or let them into the restaurant if you can't handle it. And I'm too good for stupid chatter. Just as a side note, the toilet paper in every portable toilet is of better quality than there.

The asparagus was firm without being woody. A true work of art. You miss the old sofas just a little bit.

We were there with a group of eight people and sat in a larger room where other larger groups were also seated. Unfortunately, this made it quite loud at first. After some of the guests left, things became more pleasant. We would like to highlight the very friendly service, the extensive selection, including for vegetarians, the fact that the food arrived quickly and at the same time for everyone, and it was very tasty! We would love to come back.

The food was okay, but nothing special. We asked for tap water in a child's cup for our baby and later paid the regular price for this tap water, which is truly outrageous.

The location is very nice, the ambiance by the pond is very pleasant. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The food, unfortunately, was only average. The Wiener schnitzel wasn't cooked well and was sitting on top of the fried potatoes, which didn't do either the breading or the fried potatoes any good. The vegan burger was great. The Kaiserschmarrn (smothered pancakes) was absolutely terrible, and the red fruit compote was definitely from a package and not worth the money. I'd rather just have dessert, and it was delicious because it was homemade.

A restaurant surrounded by nature. We really enjoyed the terrace and its views. The building is also very beautiful. The dishes are very generous. If you have dessert, it's best to share. The Burrata. We had Burrata and Hamburger Pannfisch. We'll be back.

First of all, the food was great. Service would have to be given 0 stars. We had reserved a table. No waiter showed up. After 20 minutes we got our own menus. 30 minutes later we were actually able to order. The drinks took forever, let alone the food. We waited an hour for this. They tried to be funny to keep us entertained. I would have expected at least a small compensation, schnapps or coffee, so we left completely angry and annoyed on Mother's Day. It was very disappointing.

Heute am 1.5.2025, endlich schönes Wetter, zwei Plätze draußen ergattert und zwei Kaffee und zwei Rhabarberschorle bestellt. Es war viel los, aber nach 45 Minuten war immer noch nichts da, wir haben Bescheid gesagt und sind gegangen. Der Kommentar des Kellners „Das tut mir leid, aber dafür kann ich nichts“. Wir haben vier Kellner draußen gesehen, das ist bei der Auslastung schaffbar, und wenn nicht, weniger Tische hin stellen.

The place was redecorated contrary to the style that would have been appropriate. We still sat down and waited 30 minutes until we were even served. Then just ordered and waited again. When we didn't have any drinks, let alone food, after another 30 minutes, we left. Absolutely disappointing. But that's why I shot instant noodles at home and they were awesome.

We were there today and wanted to have something to drink and eat outside. After waiting for 20 minutes and due to the way and simple ignorance from the staff, we asked if we could order something and were told in an unfriendly tone. Yes, when I have time. Menus would be passed to us from the neighboring table because they felt sorry for us. Disappointed for the second time with such miserable behavior, we won't be coming back to this place.

To put it bluntly, since the new owner came in, it has been an almost perfect resturante. We really enjoyed the delicious cuisine of our citizens. I'd love to come back

I'm sitting here right now and actually wanted to drink an Alster. But €5.60 for 0.4l isn't worth it to me. No wonder that no one sits in the beer garden here despite the nice weather.

Unfortunately, with the change of operator, the quality of the food has slipped massively. Inedible burger for expensive money. The interior design used to be much more stylish - now it's just uniform. Now it has become more of a cheap party location.

Delicious food, just a bit small for a strong man. The burger with truffle mayo is super tasty, with really good sweet potato fries for an extra 1.50 euros, which are worth it. Very nice, relaxed service.

What a charming little place. Picturesque, quaint, and yet very modern. The staff today were very accommodating and charming without being intrusive. The food was delicious and plentiful. It's not a chip shop, but it's worth every cent. If I'm in the area again, I'd love to come back.

A nice restaurant in an idyllic location in the forest between the Alster river and the lake. You can sit comfortably outside or in a relaxed atmosphere in the newly designed restaurant. The service is very friendly. Large selection of dishes, deliciously prepared. There is also coffee and cake. It's nice that you can get hot food at any time.

Traditional cuisine interpreted in a modern way. An ambience from the good old days - grandma's sofa or the large dining room invite you to get together in a cozy atmosphere... the small menu offers fish, game or meat dishes - starters or dessert everything as you would expect! The host also has a good selection of wines or spirits to round off every evening! The staff is attentive and you can trust their recommendations! Price-performance ratio is very balanced! That's how it should be!

After the reopening, the ambience has improved and so has the food. Service is important and individual black sheep can cause a lot of damage. Unfortunately, we have now seen several older waiters who behave more like a bouncer. The service urgently needs training. They are friendly but uncoordinated, I expect more given the prices. And TAP WATER for almost €8.00 is really OUTRAGEOUS. So far I've only had to pay extra for mayo and ketchup at the snack bar. Here I pay an additional €1 each!!!!! Is a no go. The food this time was rather mediocre

I came across here while hiking...it's beautifully situated in the forest and by a lake. I will definitely come here. Unfortunately it was closed today.

I was really looking forward to the visit. Except for the arrogant waiter, everything was really nice. The prices are ok, the quality of the dishes is average and the ambience is great. But it is an absolute no-go that if you change an insert you have to pay the full price for the changed insert. A note on the menu or a note from the waiter would be correct. Or you would have had to serve both side dishes if both were charged anyway. We also found the portions to be a bit too small. It's a real shame because we think the restaurant is very nice.

Ate Kaiserschmarrn and apple strudel there. Apple strudel was tiny and lukewarm at best for €7.90. The Kaiserschmarrn portion was also small, even though it was stated for 2 people and at €17.90 it really wasn't a bargain. The cappuccino was not tasty. Service and atmosphere very nice!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous poster: We also had reservations for Boxing Day - and asked in advance whether normal à la carte service was possible; which was confirmed over the phone. Our guests who specifically wanted a restaurant with no Christmas menu; looked at us very sparingly and disappointed. After consulting with the waiter, the first question he received was an unempathetic "that's à la carte" and the second specific question about whether schnitzel was possible was a short "no" + "that can't be" in response to the telephone inquiry. The Alte Mühle couldn't turn the rest of the evening into a positive: the goulash soup tasted extremely good; unfortunately only lukewarm. Tables were pushed back and forth; Station atmosphere. Plates were only half cleared and there was no ice cream for dessert for the children. The main courses were fine; Value for money too. I give the 2 stars because I'm actually very happy that the mill is open again and there is a beer garden in this beautiful place in Bergstedt; However, something like that shouldn't happen - we could have thought of several things on the spot to save the situation; if you wanted to and saw the disappointment on the faces of a larger group.

We had made a reservation for a larger group on Christmas Day. Unfortunately there was only a special Christmas menu with typical Christmas dishes. It was not possible to order food from the “normal” menu. We thought that was a shame because we would have liked to have eaten something other than the typical duck breast, goose leg, etc. Since this wasn't mentioned when making the reservation or on the website, we left quite disappointed. The selection of dishes on offer wasn't very diverse and the prices were rather in the upper range. We've never experienced anything like this before...

You can finally eat here again after it's been re-taken over! Very friendly service, food good value for money, atmosphere was very nice! What more could you want!? In summer, take a break on the terrace by the lake or have a celebration in one of the cozy houses, life has returned here!

I went to another restaurant last night and I'm still loving it! I ordered the beef steak with herb butter and potato gratin, and it was just perfect. The meat was wonderfully tender, grilled to perfection, and the gratin was creamy and aromatic - a real taste explosion.
