Finally you can eat here again after it's been re-taken over! Very friendly service, food good value for money, atmosphere was very nice! What more could you want!? In summer, take a break on the terrace by the lake or have a celebration in one of the cozy houses, life has returned here!

I went to another restaurant last night and I'm still loving it! I ordered the beef steak with herb butter and potato gratin, and it was just perfect. The meat was wonderfully tender, grilled to perfection, and the gratin was creamy and aromatic - a real taste explosion.

A delicious and very warming mulled wine, with a good portion of subsidy👌

If you're looking for an Oktoberfest atmosphere at Christmas with beer mugs and heather, this is the right place for you. We were thrilled in the summer, now disappointed. Tomato soup with mozzarella was served without mozzarella because it was out, we found out when we asked.

We were here with a large group and loved it! The food came to everyone at the same time, which is anything but normal with a large group. The service was extremely friendly and always tried to fulfill our every wish. We felt completely comfortable. Particularly noteworthy is the breathtaking ambience and delicious food! We'll definitely be back.

Well….the food was below average. After ordering, the food came after 15 minutes. Kale ok, cold cooked sausage, canned sweet potatoes. Simply cheap and bad! Warmed up goose leg. Red cabbage miserable. No, the kitchen is not recommended. The service was super friendly, but neither refills nor asked questions. It's a shame, because the “hardware” of the restaurant was extensively renovated. Conclusion - you tried hard...that alone is not enough! The kitchen needs to be better.

Ready meals are served and as mentioned in previous reviews, glutamate is used. The decoration was done on a small budget. There is no criticism in this, but it is clear where investments were not made. I won't come back.

I rarely have that! The Alte Mühle in Bergstedt scores in all categories. I had a Mühlen-Special burger with extra cheese (yes, there are no hyphens on the menu, but I'll forgive that), my wife simply ordered a burger without gluten and lactose. This obviously wasn't a challenge for the kitchen and was solved excellently. The components of the burger were individually prepared without a bun in a very appetizing manner and delivered as ordered. The mill special burger was outstanding (homemade and fluffy bun, excellent composition and ingredients, generous portion). The dishes from the other tables also looked excellent and this was confirmed by the feedback from the guests. The service was friendly and had an absolutely appropriate level of humor and conversation. The ambience is wonderful and a perfect mix of cozy, inviting and elegant, not at all outlandish but not shabby in any way. The prices may not be low (Mühlen special burger without extra cheese for 17.90 euros), but they are clearly worth every cent and therefore undoubtedly reasonable. Without question, my new favorite restaurant, easily giving hip burger shops a run for their money.

After the renovation, the change of ownership became really great. Food was very good and attentive service It's definitely worth coming here. It must be fantastic in the summer. We'll be back

Had a very good meal at the Alte Mühle last night. Super friendly and fast service, after the renovation the interior is finally so inviting without trying to be overly stylish. Simply the right location in a beautiful location where you'll enjoy stopping by! 😄

We ended up here by chance because we were in the area and were in the mood for fried potatoes. The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent, pretty much the best we ate in Hamburg and the surrounding area.

The ambience by the water and near the forest is great. The menu offers a lot of choice and the prices are very fair compared to restaurants in a similar location. The service is of a very special kind! The senior was very loud and cheeky towards an older guest. Almost didactic and know-it-all. The two conversations were so loud that unfortunately you couldn't hear them. The young female waitress behind us did the same as her colleague and addressed the guests behind us with the words “What’s your problem?” as one of them replaced the broken chair. The offer “How can I help you?” would be nicer. My salmon had herb butter and my husband had lemon with his beef - it can happen, but it's still not pleasant if foods are mixed up.

We got married in the old mill last week and can recommend it 100%. The Haus am See is a wonderful wedding location! The food, the drinks, the service, the flexibility… we were very happy with everything! A big thank you again to the entire team - we'll be back for our silver wedding anniversary at the latest :-)

I think it's good that they're open seven days. I think it used to only be 3 days, so I asked myself what they deserve that they only have to open for 3 days.

We had lunch with friends at the Alte Mühle today and were really thrilled. The selection of dishes was wonderful, the prices were reasonable and OK. The food was very, very tasty and nicely presented on beautiful dishes. We were served by a young, very friendly and approachable team. We felt very comfortable there and can fully recommend the location.

The service urgently needs training. They are friendly but uncoordinated and I expect more from the prices. And TAP WATER for almost €8.00 is really OUTRAGEOUS. So far I've only had to pay extra for mayo and ketchup at the snack bar. At a higher priced restaurant an additional €1 each!!!!! Is a no go. The food this time was rather mediocre

Especially when the weather allows you to stay in the garden by the lake, an extremely beautiful place. The kitchen is still good, but has unfortunately deteriorated somewhat with the change of ownership in winter 2023/24. The previously professional staff was replaced by numerous temporary workers, which unfortunately meant that the service suffered enormously.

Unfortunately, there is no longer the home-style cuisine as in the past. The new card seems a bit arbitrary and interchangeable, which is a real shame. The location is really great, something like this is rare in Hamburg. The service can and will continue to learn, unfortunately it is really difficult today, as in many other industries.

The restaurant is located in the middle of beautiful nature. We met friends here. The restaurant is also certainly suitable for family celebrations. The service and the food are consistent and very good. However, it was very loud in the large room on Saturday evening. A reservation is definitely recommended on the weekend.

Were in transit and went there on a recommendation. Great service, location right on the lake/pond, food excellent (we had veal schnitzel and surf and turf). Everything and also the beer/white wine spritzer there are of very good quality. The building and beer garden are very quaint, we are happy to recommend them.

One of our favorite restaurants in Poppenbüttel. The food is always good and plentiful, the prices are not as crazy as in many other restaurants and the service has also noticeably improved. And it's wonderful to sit by the mill pond. The only thing I think is a shame is that you can't make a reservation outside.

Idyllic location with outdoor dining by the lake. Friendly and courteous staff. Varied menu with good quality food. But: Unfortunately, bottled mineral water (sparkling water) cannot be ordered; it is expressly only served at events. Very irritating. There is only tap water with added carbon dioxide. It's a real shame, you lose customers very quickly after a promising start.

All employees are very friendly and respectful. The food is delicious, nothing special but the cuisine is really good. It's nice outside in summer but you can't reserve a table outside. Inside is also very pleasant and relaxed.

It's a shame that this time the reserved table wasn't available and then, after waiting for over 40 minutes, no one had time to take care of us. After asking three times we left. Too bad. At least an apology for overload would have been appropriate.

Service was very friendly and tried hard, but since there was a larger event taking place at the same time that evening, it was a bit stressed and too sparsely staffed. I was here at lunchtime with my sister, it wasn't very crowded but it was very cozy outside, the waiter was nice, friendly and quick and the food was really good, I had a farmer's omelet (I thought it was very large) and my sister had a baked potato with turkey, both very good good

I was invited to a birthday party there in a nice little house by the lake. Everything was great for a cozy, relaxed family celebration with friends. Our selection menu with vegetarian, meat and fish dishes met the tastes of all guests. The service staff was very nice and helpful. I was allowed to operate the stereo system myself and put on the birthday child's desired CDs/tracks. The celebration house with direct exit to some outdoor areas with a view of the lake: absolutely wonderful!

During a walk we took a break at the Old Mill and had something to drink on the terrace by the pond. The service was friendly and nice and payment by credit card was possible even for a small amount.

Bei einem Spaziergang haben wir bei der Alten Mühle eine Pause gemacht und auf der Terrasse am Teich etwas getrunken. Der Service war freundlich und nett und die Bezahlung mit der Kreditkarte war auch bei einem kleinen Betrag möglich.

I still know the old mill from before. Now it has a new owner, but things aren't really going well yet. You definitely have to have a little patience. In any case, my son and grandson were very satisfied with the burgers. The staff is very friendly, but unfortunately the lack of staff is also noticeable here. If you want, you can sit outside very nicely. It's best to test it yourself.

...the food actually tasted very good, but as it turned out afterwards, it was seasoned with glutamate. Since I have glutamate intolerance, I noticed this pretty quickly. Since we only know this from Asian cuisine, I didn't ask beforehand. The use of glutamate is unusual in German cuisine. This has never happened to me in a German restaurant. Too bad………….

Unfortunately, with the change of operator, the quality of the food has slipped massively. Inedible burger for expensive money. The interior design used to be much more stylish - now it's just uniform. Even a new operator can't ruin this beautiful place. The staff from before also remained, which is again a clear plus point.

We've been here several times. After the change in management and the renovation of the restaurant, we wanted to take a look at everything and see if the quality had changed. That is not the case. Although the menu has changed, the quality of the food is still excellent and the staff is friendly. Even though we are very satisfied, we miss the beautiful chocolates that were previously sold here.

Very nice atmosphere inside and outside. Went there spontaneously on Sunday afternoon and got a table without a reservation. Waiting time for ordering was about 15 minutes and 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The order came at the same time and the dishes tasted very good! Approximately 80-100€ for two adults and two teenagers.

A very beautifully idyllic little restaurant. The restaurant is rustically furnished and has a nice atmosphere. In summer, even when the weather is nice, you can sit outside and comfortably look at the water. The price/performance ratio is completely fine. The food tastes good and is presented very clearly. There are few parking spaces available, which can quickly make parking difficult.

The "Alte Mühle Bergstedt" is a very nice restaurant with very tasty food and nice staff. Highly recommended.

We celebrated our wedding in the Haus am See in May of this year. In addition to the great location, we were very impressed by the delicious food and the friendliness of the operator. We had reserved the location with the previous owner, who left without a word about a change of operator. The celebration was then held by the new operators - it couldn't have been better for us. We always received quick answers to our questions, were able to look at the location several times, on the big day the staff were very attentive and friendly and everything was to our complete satisfaction. Our wishes, for example regarding the menu, were fully met. We would definitely book here again for the next big celebration.

We were at the Old Mill on Sunday lunchtime. The location in Hamburg Bergstedt directly on the idyllic Mühlenteich is hard to beat. The outdoor area offers a beautiful view of the pond and creates a relaxing atmosphere. The new tenants of the Alte Mühle have a wide-ranging menu that really offers something for every taste. From delicious burgers to fish and meat to healthy salads and bowls – everyone will find what they are looking for here. The drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired and offers a variety of refreshing options. The service was courteous, friendly and authentic. You felt recognized and welcomed as a guest - unfortunately often a rarity that we really appreciated. I would particularly like to highlight the sweet potato fries, which were simply outstanding. The portion was generous, the fries were crispy, juicy on the inside and seasoned perfectly. The aperitif spritz also had an ideal mixing ratio. All in all, it was very good value for money. We were so excited that we made a new table reservation straight away. Another plus point: dogs are welcome there and are also warmly welcomed. We can highly recommend the Alte Mühle in Bergstedt and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Wir waren am Sonntag Mittag in der Alten Mühle. Die Lage in Hamburg Bergstedt direkt am idyllischen Mühlenteich ist kaum zu übertreffen. Der Außenbereich bietet einen wunderschönen Blick auf den Teich und sorgt für eine entspannte Atmosphäre. Die neuen Pächter der Alten Mühle haben eine breit aufgestellte Speisekarte, die wirklich für jeden Geschmack etwas bietet. Von leckeren Burgern über Fisch und Fleisch bis hin zu gesunden Salaten und Bowls – hier wird jeder fündig. Auch die Getränkekarte lässt kaum Wünsche offen und bietet eine Vielzahl an erfrischenden Optionen. Der Service war zuvorkommend, freundlich und authentisch. Man fühlte sich als Gast wahrgenommen und willkommen – leider oft eine Seltenheit, die wir sehr geschätzt haben. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die Süßkartoffelpommes, die einfach hervorragend waren. Die Portion war großzügig, die Pommes knusprig, innen saftig und perfekt gewürzt. Der Aperitif Spritz hatte ebenfalls ein ideales Mischungsverhältnis. Alles in allem war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis sehr gut. Wir waren so begeistert, dass wir direkt eine neue Tischreservierung vorgenommen haben. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt: Hunde sind dort gern gesehen und werden ebenfalls herzlich empfangen. Wir können die Alte Mühle in Bergstedt wärmstens empfehlen und freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch!

Schöne Atmosphäre und sehr tolles Essen. Die Alte Mühle ist seit der Renovierung sehr schön gemacht und aufgefrischt worden. Geschichtliches ist trotzdem erhalten und sieht man u.a. auf Leinwänden, wenn man den Weg zur Toilette geht. Essen kam sehr schnell und auch die Karte hat viele leckere Speisen. Personal ebenfalls super lieb. Wir waren absolut zufrieden. Vor allem bei gutem Wetter lohnt es sich draußen zu sitzen.

The Old Mill has new operators and I maintain: everything has been done right. The store is stylishly furnished, the staff is attentive and friendly. The food is absolutely excellent and very fairly priced.

We were here again for the first time in years after the last visit was sobering. When we came in we were greeted rather cautiously and the reservation didn't work out either. But not bad, there was enough space. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and it still smells brand new... We were served quickly. The food tasted good. Unfortunately, all portions were far too small. Burger with a handful of fries, vegetable pan only the size of a breakfast plate. All four of us left hungry. The price-performance ratio is not right here. The prices are too high for the small portions. In addition, and I really don't think this is appropriate in a restaurant, you have to order ketchup and mayo separately and a mini bowl costs €1 each - that just comes with fries. But our service was very friendly and helpful. We would like to come back - because we enjoyed it... but the points mentioned above still need to be worked on...

A detour is definitely worth it. The food is delicious and the ambience inside and outside invites you to linger. The service is pleasantly reserved, but attentive. Combined with a long walk, it’s exactly the right location.

Went there last night with 12 people. Since I have known the restaurant for 40 years, I was very excited to see what has changed with the new owner. Unfortunately, not everything was good. I had roast beef with fried potatoes, my favorite meal here, well, the meat was great, but heavily seasoned, the fried potatoes were just bad, totally greasy and dark, but edible and actually tasted quite good, the tartar sauce was quite ok. We waited 45 minutes for the ice cream. Conclusion: The fried potatoes have to be better and the tartar sauce should also have some flavor. The waiting time for dessert must be greatly reduced. We'll still be back, but next time I'll eat something different

We spent a nice evening there. When the weather was good, we were able to sit by the water and enjoy the delicious food. The new furniture in the outdoor area invites you to linger. The service was very attentive and nice. A lot has also changed in the restaurant, it looks bright and modern, something you wouldn't necessarily think if you saw the restaurant from the outside. We'd love to come back!!
