Schifferbörse Restaurant in Hamburg

One of the most beautiful restaurants we have ever visited! It is directly opposite the main train station. The food is absolutely great, the staff is very nice and accommodating. A reservation is mandatory here. The store is full every day for a reason. When we are back in Hamburg, we will definitely come back!

I visited Schifferbörse, just a few meters from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, and the restaurant was completely full, so a reservation is definitely needed. The atmosphere was cozy, with its charming maritime decor, and the service was efficient despite how busy it was. I ordered the Matjesfilet Hausfrauen Art for the first time, but it turned out to be too salty for my taste. However, I realize this was more about my personal preference than an issue with the dish itself. On the other hand, the Bratkartoffeln were excellent—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Overall, it’s a great spot with an authentic vibe. Next time, I’ll make a reservation and choose a dish better suited to my palate!

The sole was good, the portion was big, but it didn't have much flavor, and the soup was pretty good. The dessert chocolate cake is delicious

The food was extremely tasty. We had to wait a little too long to order, but once we did it was very quick. There was a bit of everything and everyone found something suitable. There was a great selection of drinks and food. The service was very friendly. The price range was completely reasonable. The restaurant was nicely decorated, but was a bit gloomy. All in all it was a great experience.

A really nice restaurant. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The dishes were very tasty and the fish was also in a sufficient portion. The schnitzel was a bit small but still a very good price/performance ratio. We'll be happy to come back, thank you very much.

It is a truly exceptional venue. Located in the immediate vicinity of Hamburg Central Station, just one look through the glass front is enough to convince you of the ambience. When we were there, the restaurant was busy. Nevertheless, the food was brought to the table fairly promptly after ordering. While my companions raved about their burgers, rump steak and schnitzel, I wasn't 100 percent convinced by my salad with prawns. The shrimp was excellently prepared, no question. The amount of lettuce alone wasn't really enough to satisfy a full-grown Central European. While my companion enjoyed their desserts, I had to order a crab soup (Büsumer style, absolutely delicious) to fill my stomach adequately. Nevertheless, the visit there was overall a recommendable experience.

Great restaurant, reservation recommended, especially in the evening.

The taste is confusing for me. First time coming here, I got a decent Hamburger Panfisch. My friend ordered a fish burger and told me it’s really delicious. We came back a week later and ordered the fish burger, this time to find out the burger lacked some sauces and it became too dry. I just hope they can maintain the quality :)

Great ambiance with sea themed decorations. Recommend making a reservation in advance as it got pretty busy from 5:00 pm. Wiener schnitzel (calf) was cooked ideally (not tough). However, the batter was separating from the meat. Good crispy potato chips and delicious mushroom sauce. Labskaus was delicious. Good balance between beetroot, herring and fried eggs - one meal but three different tastes! Coke was flat (it was from the bar not from a bottle/ can).

We ate here two evenings during our stay in Hamburg and were very satisfied both evenings. Staff very friendly and the food was very good. The location itself is quaint and cozy. We would like to come back - but we recommend a reservation.

To be honest, the food was quite good, but the staff was worse than bad. Aside from not knowing whether the kitchen could fillet a simple fish, she was beyond rude. The fact that you only have an hour and a half per table says more than enough. This employee wasted 20 minutes trying to see if the kitchen could get the fish ready for the table and then had the nerve to say that dessert was going to be tight because the next ones were waiting: So with all my love, I was already there in many restaurants with a so-called time span and never have I been treated so rudely. Above all, there were 6 of us. Then have your tables under control and assume that some guests may not want to eat just one course.

I can't recommend food, a pure one Rip off! We had dinner with three people, Schnitzel with fried egg, all frozen goods!! The wine was already stale. I cannot recommend this restaurant!!! 😔 Beware of tourist traps. The crabs 🦀 tasted fishy! We won't be coming back.

Very nice atmosphere and the quality of the service and food is right. Of course the restaurant is very touristy, but that doesn't have to be a disadvantage. In my personal case, the restaurant was completely booked and I was still given the opportunity to eat.

I recently celebrated my birthday with a small group in this wonderful restaurant and was thrilled. Everything was perfect all around! The food was not only extremely tasty, but also absolutely reasonable in terms of price. I was particularly impressed by the friendly staff: the waiters always had a smile on their faces and were incredibly attentive. I would also like to highlight the fantastic ambience – it was simply wonderful and exactly to my taste. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes. Another plus point: the restaurant attracts people from all walks of life, and many tourists also seem to appreciate this place. I can only recommend that everyone see it for themselves – it’s really worth a visit!

Looking for some good food? Appreciate a cozy atmosphere that is a little different than most restaurants? Don't want to go far away just to get there? Then this Schifferbörse Restaurant is a good option, because here you get all of the above + you get great food! Personally, I think the service was a little slow and not very personal, but combined with the food I still give this place a solid 4 stars 👍 .

No restaurant, as you would expect in the immediate vicinity of the main train station. Great, rustic decor, we sat in a comfortable seating area on the edge. The fish dishes were particularly convincing, top plaice! Fast and friendly service. Overall, highly recommended.

Culture meets cuisine and ambience = MEGA

Very good service, excellent food with a good price-performance ratio. There are also good wines available. It's better to reserve a table in advance. It's better to go there by public transport, super easy. Ambience just as I imagine it would be for a “Hamburger Schifferbörse”. Toilets also clean, but not suitable for people with walking difficulties. What surprises me: music that definitely doesn't fit the ambience. Modern pop music - that doesn't fit there. Please think about it. Otherwise my recommendation.

Food is pretty okay, so not amazing. The schnitzel was probably fried in the deep fryer and the fried egg in a similar amount of oil. The ambience, on the other hand, is definitely an eye-catcher and worth a visit.

Excelent atmosphere, probably the best in town. The food is good, I had meat and it was cooked perfectly and I liked a lot the pepper and the salts.

Unfortunately, in a great maritime atmosphere, only mediocre cuisine. The Hamburg panfish was treated to just two pieces on plenty of fried potatoes as a filling side dish. Because there wasn't enough mustard sauce, it wasn't much fun. If the service had been a little more on point, we would definitely have drunk more and stayed longer. A reservation is recommended here as the restaurant is frequented by many tourists.

We were completely impressed by the shipping fair in Hamburg! The ambience is unique and, with its maritime flair, conveys a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Cozy restaurant with a central location. We had booked a table which we were told we could only have for 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, it took an hour before we got the food served. The food tasted fine but the portions were not large. I got pannfisch which consisted of 2 very small fillets, mustard sauce and braised potatoes

We chose a restaurant that was completely unknown to me as the location for our Christmas dinner this year. And I can say, top notch in all respects. There were 13 of us in total for dinner. Everyone received their food at the same time. From the half duck to the cod burger, the dishes were top notch. Very well prepared and tasty, I was told, I had the Jägerschnitzel myself, everything was great. The restaurant can be recommended without reservation.

The slightly different restaurant. We had a delicious meal there and the waiters were quick and always helpful. Ordering is done using a QR code at the table, which didn't work for us. The waiter immediately brought us a tablet where we could then choose our food. It's quite loud because it's very big, but the ambience is great.

Food and desserts were generally very successful, but I liked the pannfish plate the most. The location is absolutely beautiful, and the ambiance was lovely. Dinner was good, but nothing extraordinary—just average. Unfortunately, the service at the beginning was nonexistent, which set a disappointing tone. While things improved later, the initial lack of attention was hard to overlook. Overall, it's a nice place, but there’s room for improvement in both the food and the service

Since we come from further away, we were happy to stop there, but that wasn't possible. So we decided to go to the Holiday In for dinner, which was a very good alternative.

A very atmospheric place with tasty food. You will need a reservations, as this place is very popular also on week days. The interior is a highlight, it is done in the old ship style. The light is a bit deem, but it is a nice ambient overall. The good selection is good with lots of fish (as expected). Nice herring as a snack. Good fried fish and the steak was also very good. The food comes out fast, the service is with good speed considering how many people they have. The place is near the main train station, thus it is easy to get here, but challenging to park. A great place to have a dinner at.

The two of us had dinner today. Nice atmosphere with lots of wood and ship decorations. Balanced menu, not too big but there is something for everyone with classic dishes here in the north and good alternatives. Very attentive service that is also well informed. When we asked about regional breweries, the very courteous waiter brought over two sample beers. The food was also very tasty, the beef was fried to perfection and the Wienerschnitzel was like a cloud with a wonderful buttery taste. As a former chef, I can only recommend this restaurant. Reservation may be recommended.

A restaurant in Hamburg as I imagine it. A super cool decoration and great atmosphere. You feel like you are in an old ship and can really feel at home. The food was super tasty. My plaice Büsumer style was really fantastic and super cool. The service tried to give us the best experience. Even when something went wrong, they solved it well and did it well.

Small portions. I think the schnitzel was frozen food. I almost couldn't eat the sauce. I didn't even like the fries. They put something in the sauce that doesn't belong there. The fries also taste like curry or something. Somehow it wasn't really German cuisine at all, it just looked and tasted kind of Indian or something. The ambience is amazing, but unfortunately the food is terrible for us.

Thanks to a lot of luck, we got 2 seats without reservations. Food was excellent, herring fillet with bacon beans and bacon fried potatoes. Service friendly and quick. The only negative point was that there was a very high level of noise during our visit, which I, as a hearing-impaired person, could hardly stand.

The food was very good, and the arrangement of the food was a feast for the eyes. Special requests were noted without comment and served exactly as they were. Rustic atmosphere throughout the large dining room. There is a lot to discover. The only point I have to complain about is that there is no menu, you scan the menu with your cell phone. Yes it is sustainable, but when it comes to food I want to talk to my companion and not have to fight with the cell phone at the table again.

Very solid northern German food (with a few random European things like bruschetta...I would stick with the German dishes) and friendly service in a uniquely decorated interior! Might seem a bit touristy but I felt that it was worth it! Portions are generous, too! Recommend making reservations.

An impressively beautiful restaurant with magnificent ship models and wall paintings The service team is friendly and motivated, professionally fast. The fish dishes are seasoned unimaginatively, with a lot of binding agents in the sauces and are too expensive for that. The crowds are enormous, and without a reservation you can't do anything - at least on the weekend.

The food was very tasty and the service was friendly. However, I have to deduct one point: the wooden benches are very uncomfortable and you sit with your back very straight, which doesn't make the visit particularly pleasant. This definitely needs to be improved.

We were there around 5:30 p.m. and just managed to get a table without a reservation. The food and service were outstanding! When we left there were a lot of people waiting outside for a table. Therefore it is better to reserve in advance.

Impressive like the belly of a ship. Dark but homely, lots of ships and ship accessories to marvel at. Food very good. The perfect first place for a visit to Hamburg, also very close to the main station.
