Despite being full, the queue moved quickly. So it was worth the wait (although reservations are better if you know you'll be in Hamburg for a few more hours). This allowed me to enjoy a delicious Labskaus in a relaxed atmosphere.

We were there at peak time, shortly after 6 pm. Despite the crowds, everything was well-managed and the food was delicious. We'd gladly come again.

New Year's Eve: The menu was unfortunately quite small today, but the food was very good and the service was quick and friendly.

It's like a movie set, Jack Sparrow could walk out of a door! The location and details were very, very nice. As for the food, I think whatever you order, it's all more than delicious.

A restaurant right by the main station doesn't have to be good, but the food here is excellent. I had the shrimps with salad, fries and aioli and it was beautifully done. The beer and wine selection isn't huge, but I really enjoyed my glass of grauburgunder. Add a lovely interior and friendly staff.

The Schifferbörse (Sailors' Exchange) is a must-visit for me when I'm in Hamburg. It has a charming, rustic decor with church pews. The food is good, traditional fare and tasty, though the sauce could be a bit more generous. It was extremely crowded two days ago, but the staff were very friendly, cheerful, and relaxed. Hats off to them. However, they could have done without the background music, given the high noise level.

I ate at the Schifferbörse restaurant and was absolutely delighted. I had Wiener Schnitzel with fries and cucumber salad – and everything was truly perfect. The schnitzel was golden brown, crispy, and very juicy, the fries fresh and well-seasoned. The cucumber salad was pleasantly fresh and complemented the dish perfectly. On top of that, the service was attentive and friendly in a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended – I'll definitely be back!

I ordered the "Winter Special," specifically the duck breast with berry-flavored red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the duck was very tough and had a slightly musty taste. The red cabbage, advertised as "berry-flavored," was also disappointing, as it was very heavy and lacked balance. The small dollop of tasteless mashed potatoes couldn't salvage the dish. The staff also seemed very busy and inattentive that evening.

I went to the Schifferbörse restaurant with my husband for dinner on December 21, 2025. It was such a lovely evening; the food and wine were delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. When I went to pay, I had a voucher, but I had forgotten to print it. The waiter said, "No problem, I'll help you," and promptly did it for me. Such attentive service—where do you find that these days! When we're back in Hamburg, we'll definitely visit the Schifferbörse again. The evening will remain a wonderful memory.

The food arrived super fast, even though the restaurant was so full... and most importantly, it tasted excellent.

Beautiful location – but mice are an unacceptable hygiene issue for me. The Schifferbörse in Hamburg is undoubtedly a beautiful restaurant with a Hanseatic flair. Inside, there's a quaint, authentic atmosphere that immediately impresses. The food was okay, the atmosphere pleasant. The staff was a bit slow at first, but overall, the service was initially fine. However, the evening was overshadowed for me by a serious hygiene issue: After we finished eating, several mice were clearly visible running around the restaurant. Since most of the guests had already left, this was unfortunately impossible to miss. When we pointed this out to the staff, I experienced a reaction that I found extremely unprofessional. Instead of taking the problem seriously, it was downplayed. We were told that there was a subway line under the restaurant, that mice were "just part of life," and that nothing could be done about it anyway. At times, it almost seemed as if the animals were an accepted part of the establishment. I was even told that they couldn't be exterminated because "dead mice smell awful." What I found particularly disappointing was that the waiter seemed to laugh at my clearly expressed disgust instead of showing any understanding. As impressive as the ambiance and food were, a restaurant where mice roam freely in the dining room and the staff doesn't take it seriously is absolutely unacceptable to me. This incident completely ruined the otherwise positive overall impression.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends. Its proximity to the train station initially made me skeptical. When we arrived (without a reservation), we were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. The menu is available digitally via a QR code. (I assume a physical copy is also available upon request.) The selection isn't huge, but there's something for everyone. And as is so often the case... quality over quantity! In this case, it's a 5/5! The portions are generous, and the price is reasonable for what you get. The service and the ambiance are both excellent; we felt very comfortable here. The food is good, but not outstanding. The portion sizes are average, but if you're really hungry, you might want to order an appetizer and dessert. What I did find negative, however, was that the premises are very large and therefore quite noisy. The chairs aren't padded, at least not in the area where I sat. Some chairs even have armrests, but these aren't suitable for larger people. It's advisable to reserve a table to be sure of getting one.

I had grilled mackerel and salmon here, and they were absolutely delicious. There was no fishy smell at all, and the meat was incredibly tender. It felt like I was eating at a fancy restaurant. The prices were also very reasonable, which was a huge plus. I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is friendly.

I waited by the sign after saying I was one person, and the two people behind me were a pair. We were seated together, which wasn't how I'm used to it. Oh well. The rest of the service was pleasant and average. The ambiance and location are great, especially considering the location. The food was really damn good, and I'd gladly come again with two or three more people.

I stumbled upon the restaurant by chance while passing by. After a short wait, I got a seat in the very nice dining room. I ordered the crab soup and the classic herring. Both were truly excellent. Simple but perfectly seasoned. Service was also friendly, even though it was a busy Monday evening. The only downside for me personally: there are no menus, only QR codes that have to be scanned for a map on your smartphone. That's just not the optimal solution for me personally. Unfortunately, the aioli cream barely tasted of garlic, so it deducted one star. It was actually intended as an appetizer, but it came with the main course. The food and the decor here are equally wonderfully. I had the Kabeljaufilet auf Rahmblattspinat mit Dillrahmsauce und Röstkartoffeln/Cod on Creamed Spinach with Dill Cream Sauce and Roasted Potatoes. The whole meal tasted delicious, but the potatoes that came with onion and bacon were a wonderful surprise and my favourite part of the meal. 100% recommend! It looked like a reservation might be recommended around busier times for larger parties, but I easily got a table with no wait.

This popular Hamburg restaurant has been a must-visit for many years. It's conveniently located right next to Hamburg Central Station. The restaurant is spacious and you can easily get in without a reservation (although you may have to wait). The fish dishes here are typical of Northern Germany, and are delicious. They also serve shrimp dishes caught in the North Sea. They also serve rapskaus and schnitzel. If you're looking for "German food" in Hamburg, this is the place to go!! This was my second visit of the year, in September 2025. This time I had the reddish-purple beet risotto (ROTE BEETE-RISOTTO) and goat cheese gratin. The beet-colored risotto had a mysterious sweetness and earthy aroma. The rice was firm, making it an authentic risotto. The goat cheese was rich and soft, like yogurt. The beet risotto with goat cheese is a must-try, as it's only available here! The burgers from Hamburg, the birthplace of hamburgers, are also delicious!

Excellent, excellent food! I ordered the “surf and turf”. My husband the “pannfish”. Then ordered small salad 🥗. Two teas and creme brûlée for dessert. One of the best meals we ever had. We were discussing how in USA (where we are from); items are pre-made and warmed up. Well, at least for chain restaurants. What a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!
