The best Labskaus I have ever eaten

The food is good, but not outstanding. The portion sizes are average, but if you're really hungry, you might want to order an appetizer and dessert. What I did find negative, however, was that the premises are very large and therefore quite noisy. The chairs aren't padded, at least not in the area where I sat. Some chairs even have armrests, but these aren't suitable for larger people. It's advisable to reserve a table to be sure of getting one.

I had grilled mackerel and salmon here, and they were absolutely delicious. There was no fishy smell at all, and the meat was incredibly tender. It felt like I was eating at a fancy restaurant. The Schiffsbörse is a beautifully decorated restaurant in a nautical style. It's a bit dark, but that's part of the restaurant's charm. You feel like you're on an old ship. The service was very quick, attentive, and friendly. We each had pan-fried fish with a cucumber salad and a drink. The food was hot and arrived quickly. Now that I've been there, I can definitely recommend it to any ship enthusiast. There is one small drawback: the benches don't have cushions, so you're sitting on hard wooden benches. It's not very comfortable, but bearable.

Anyone who enjoys truly excellent fish should definitely visit this restaurant! The ambiance, the staff, and of course the food are all absolutely top-notch. Everything was fresh, superbly prepared, and served with great care. The plaice fillet, in particular, was a real treat – crispy on the outside, wonderfully tender on the inside. A thoroughly enjoyable experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Great atmosphere, food arrived in about 10 minutes and tasted amazing, the waiter was also very friendly. Reservations are recommended. A little tip: arrive before 6 pm because it's still quiet then; it gets crowded around 7 pm.

It was a good restaurant with traditional local food. We came for dinner without a reservation and were lucky to get a table, as there was a long waiting line when we left. We had North Sea plaice — one with bacon and the other with fresh shrimp — along with pan-fried fish and a goat cheese salad. We had beer with our meal, and everything was very good. The staff were friendly, and we had a great experience overall.

I had called ahead because I was traveling alone and had about a 30-minute commute by S-Bahn (suburban train). After being told it was no problem, just come along, I set off. I waited by the sign after saying I was one person, and the two people behind me were a pair. We were seated together, which wasn't how I'm used to it. Oh well. The rest of the service was pleasant and average. The ambiance and location are great, especially considering the location. The food was really damn good, and I'd gladly come again with two or three more people.

I stumbled upon the restaurant by chance while passing by. After a short wait, I got a seat in the very nice dining room. I ordered the crab soup and the classic herring. Both were truly excellent. Simple but perfectly seasoned. Service was also friendly, even though it was a busy Monday evening. The only downside for me personally: there are no menus, only QR codes that have to be scanned for a map on your smartphone. That's just not the optimal solution for me personally. I'd definitely go back anyway 👌🏻

Very nice restaurant, a bit noisy and warm inside. The food was delicious and arrived very quickly. The service was also friendly. Unfortunately, the aioli cream barely tasted of garlic, so it deducted one star. It was actually intended as an appetizer, but it came with the main course. Overall, we were satisfied and would come again.

The food and the decor here are equally wonderfully. I had the Kabeljaufilet auf Rahmblattspinat mit Dillrahmsauce und Röstkartoffeln/Cod on Creamed Spinach with Dill Cream Sauce and Roasted Potatoes. The whole meal tasted delicious, but the potatoes that came with onion and bacon were a wonderful surprise and my favourite part of the meal. 100% recommend! It looked like a reservation might be recommended around busier times for larger parties, but I easily got a table with no wait.

This popular Hamburg restaurant has been a must-visit for many years. It's conveniently located right next to Hamburg Central Station. The restaurant is spacious and you can easily get in without a reservation (although you may have to wait). The fish dishes here are typical of Northern Germany, and are delicious. They also serve shrimp dishes caught in the North Sea. They also serve rapskaus and schnitzel. If you're looking for "German food" in Hamburg, this is the place to go!! This was my second visit of the year, in September 2025. This time I had the reddish-purple beet risotto (ROTE BEETE-RISOTTO) and goat cheese gratin. The beet-colored risotto had a mysterious sweetness and earthy aroma. The rice was firm, making it an authentic risotto. The goat cheese was rich and soft, like yogurt. The beet risotto with goat cheese is a must-try, as it's only available here! The burgers from Hamburg, the birthplace of hamburgers, are also delicious!

Excellent restaurant with a great atmosphere and menu. I went here with two friends. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time, and our drinks arrived before we actually finished ordering our accompanying meals. Great food at lightning speed service!

Excellent, excellent food! I ordered the “surf and turf”. My husband the “pannfish”. Then ordered small salad 🥗. Two teas and creme brûlée for dessert. One of the best meals we ever had. We were discussing how in USA (where we are from); items are pre-made and warmed up. Well, at least for chain restaurants. What a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!

At first, the location, so close to the train station, made me suspicious. But after a bit of research (including the financial circumstances of the management), I was convinced. When I finally sat down at my seat, in the dark dining room with a truly maritime ambiance. And surrounded by British tourists, I knew then that if the food was still good, everything would be fine. And it was. Absolutely recommended. It was an incredibly successful evening! I had the Labskaus. Just like my mother's. Thank you for your hospitality.

We had to make a reservation that same afternoon because there were free spots, which saved us from wandering around the city. Simple but hearty, local food. The place is spectacular; you feel like you're stepping into an old ship. Everything is very well-maintained and detailed. The service is super fast, and the food is ready even faster. I recommend the limoncello tiramisu; it was delicious and perfect for lovers of lemon desserts. We'll definitely go back if we return to Hamburg.

Earlier this year and again this week, I took my family, who were visiting Germany for the first time, to this German restaurant. We always ordered the fish dishes and were very satisfied. For an average-sized Asian with a small appetite, one main course is perfect for two people to share.

All we can say is that it absolutely deserves 5 stars. A fantastic atmosphere, super friendly staff, and the food is a North German dream. We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Schifferbörse! Keep up the good work.

Beautifully decorated restaurant where parts of the decoration are 350 years old. We had Fischpanne and the food was really good. Remember to book a table.

The food was OK in terms of taste and price. However, a mouse walked past our table. We asked the waiter about it, who, of course, explained that this was a known occurrence. They come in through the doors. That's absolutely unacceptable to me, and I find it unacceptable.

The Schifferbörse is an excellent choice for lovers of traditional North German cuisine. The menu features hearty classics such as Labskaus and Pannfisch, as well as seasonal dishes. The ambiance is incomparably maritime and historic, as the decor consists of original ship models and maritime equipment, making the restaurant a true institution. Its central location directly across from Hamburg Central Station also makes it easily accessible.

I hit the jackpot, more or less by chance. Delicious food in a quaint, cozy atmosphere. Despite being fully booked, the atmosphere was pleasant and the noise level was good, making it easy to have a good conversation. The service was super friendly.

Everything was perfect here. We happened upon this restaurant while looking for a relaxed dinner and found it very inviting. The decor and ambiance are truly appealing, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and above all, the food was truly excellent. Unfortunately, we've had a completely different experience with "home cooking" before, but here the price-performance ratio was 100%. Occupancy was around 70% that evening, but it wasn't at all noisy. Of course, that could have been due to the guests; this is essentially a large hall.

A truly fantastic restaurant with a unique ambiance – you almost feel like you're sitting on board an old pirate ship! The service staff is super attentive and very friendly. The restaurant is almost impossible to miss from the outside, as it's located on Kirchenallee, among other restaurants and hotels. There's an outdoor area, and when you walk through the door, you find yourself in another world. It's quite dark, with the ceilings covered in carved dark wood, just like the walls. It feels like you're in a maritime museum with all the decorative items. The staff is extremely communicative, happy to answer questions, and service is prompt.

Overall, it was okay. We'll definitely go back when we're in Hamburg. Oh, by the way, the table was for about eight people and it was wobbly 😉 (but that's probably how it is on the high seas 😁)

Delicious food in a great atmosphere

Without a reservation (as it turns out, we were incredibly lucky), we went to Schiffersbörse. It's a traditional German restaurant run by hardworking people who know exactly what to do and when, and they do it all in a friendly manner. I ordered Bombay Bites as a starter, an unusual dish on this menu, but very tasty. For the main course, I ordered the rump steak, and my wife ordered the cod fillet with creamed spinach. The rump steak was beautifully cooked medium, accompanied by delicious fresh green beans with bacon and real fried potatoes, just the way they should be, but unfortunately becoming increasingly scarce. The cod fillet was deliciously cooked, and the spinach was also very tasty. Definitely recommended, but make sure you make a reservation. At one point, there were over 40 people in line, so it's helpful to have a reservation. A real winner for me.

Without a reservation, there's no guarantee of a seat. The food was delicious. There were no long waits, even though the restaurant was packed. The service was well-organized and very friendly. I'd be happy to go again.

Cool location. I wasn’t much in the mood for fish but ordered it anyway, and was happy. Fun to try the local beers. Not a big fan of the soda/beer mix but it seems to be popular here.
