Excellent place to eat in Nuremberg. The food was very well prepared and presented. We loved the red beer tasting. Very relaxed atmosphere. We received excellent service from the waiter. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Stopped in both my days spent in Nuremberg. The beer was fantastic! I had the German flag colored beer flight which I thought was clever. The Rotbier is the iconic one to try here, and it didnt dissapoint. 2nd night we ordered food, it came out quickly and had great flavour. Servers were exceptional. Highly recommend!!

A wonderful evening at Altstadthof in Nuremberg! Mr. Angelo treated us to fantastic food, and the young owner even found a table for us during the Christmas season. Great atmosphere and friendly service

A fantastic place. The combo of three typical Nuremberg red beers was excellent. We also had lunch there; we ordered a Pfannenschnitzel and a Braumeistersteak, both delicious, and for dessert, an Apfelstrudel that was spectacular. Excellent value for money. I also want to highlight the friendliness of the waitress. I highly recommend it.

Small but very nice place! Perfect for a quick beer stop — we tried the red and it was really good! Although we chose to have a bite to eat, the food seemed average and a bit expensive for what it offers. The service was also a bit slow. 👉 Definitely worth it for a beer, but not so much for food.

Brewery inn with Franconian cuisine

The pork shoulder was delicious. The red beer was a highlight. A visit is worthwhile. A great alternative to the Christmas market. Large portions and, above all, everything homemade. Thank you for the lovely afternoon. I'd love to come again.

We went to try the original Nuremberg beers and opted for the three varieties of red beer. They have that option, which is a great deal at €8, and we loved them. The service from the waitress who served us was excellent; we communicated in English without any problems.

Small place with just the right number of seats. The atmosphere is warm, quiet, and welcoming. A truly quaint place. The food is excellent and the beer is excellent, typical of the area. I highly recommend it. P.S. Try the birramisu, which in my opinion was superb! Prices are in line with all the other places.

Large portions, tasty, decent price

A must-visit! The food is delicious, and the service is attentive and fast. Beer lovers will also feel right at home here. "1 Meter Bier" offers a wide selection of different beers; there's something for everyone.

We had barely entered when we were loudly asked what language we spoke. We couldn't even take a quick look around before being asked again, very loudly, if we spoke Ukrainian, Russian, etc. We're not deaf, we were just speechless at the "welcome" after barely taking two steps inside. There were "Reserved" signs everywhere, but they let us sit down. The red beer alone isn't worth the trip.

A visit to the Altstadthof brewery is definitely worthwhile. The food was truly excellent – ​​fresh, flavorful, and served promptly. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, just right for a relaxing evening in Nuremberg's Old Town. The service was friendly, attentive, and competent; we felt completely at ease. All in all, a wonderful evening – and the prices are perfectly reasonable for the city center. We'd gladly return!

The best beer I have ever drunk

Overall, a great location. However, the portions are a bit small, but the taste is exceptionally good. I've rarely had to order two schnitzels, which is a bit of a shame for a brewery pub, but the price is very, very good. The beer is excellent, it just flows.

A historic venue that maintains its ambiance. Fast, punctual, and accurate service. Efficient staff. Good food (in this case, roast pork shoulder). Prices are reasonable. The trio of red beers was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. No problem with credit cards. Recommended.

It has beer flights *and* whisky flights??!! Worth visiting based on that alone. The fries were pretty bad, but at least it had them - and the service was both attentive and helpful.

There are several beer sets to choose from. Including the famous Rothbier. I was surprised by the description of one beer on the menu as both Helles and Kellerbier. I liked the strudel.

A very cozy restaurant near the castle. We sat in the lovely bar area facing the street. The service was very friendly and attentive. However, it's too small for groups of more than six. There are additional seats in the aisle (only partially recommended in winter) and further back. Be sure to try the house brew!

A small but more than fine dining room at the brewery. The beer was excellent, and you could also order food. The friendly staff (on their own!) ran the whole place and were funny and super friendly. In addition to the excellent beer, we also had a whiskey tasting. Ayers Alligator is a must. I highly recommend it. This place is a must in Nuremberg!

We didn't eat there, but the beer selection is extensive. The service is friendly, fast, and courteous. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, yet lively. There were two of us there and we were seated after a short wait. Larger groups should definitely make a reservation or be patient—the place is in high demand!

Rustic, cozy food and drinks are great.

The red beer and cellar beer are excellent and deserve 5 stars. The schnitzel tasted okay and, thanks to the generous portion of potato salad, was also plentiful. The shoulder of pork also looked very good, and my companions enjoyed it. But the prices are quite steep. €23.50 for a shoulder of pork is pretty steep. Nine months ago, it was €21.50, and two years ago, €17.90. Will this price spiral ever end?

Lovely old pub restaurant. Had Käsespätzle my favourite. Rotbier is also definitely great! Friendly staff, quick and not too expensive.

Because my flight was canceled, I stayed in Nuremberg an extra day. Lufthansa treated us to this meal! We ordered German pork shoulder, a Wiener schnitzel, a Redler beer, and a lettuce salad. Unfortunately, we didn't get the beer miso. The skin on the pork shoulder was incredibly crispy, and the meat was somewhere between very tender and just firm. The Wiener schnitzel was dry and unpalatable, so don't order it. The Redler was truly delicious. We also played Truth or Dare.

I had the brewer's goulash, which had hardly any flavor and was completely greasy on the bottom. The plate itself looked like it had been washed 5 million times. Our waitress was nice, but she forgot to bring my colleague bread and then spilled the expensive whiskey on him. No apologies, no "on the house." Forgot to bring drinks. The atmosphere is authentic and fitting. There aren't many seats. Reservations recommended. This was my first and last visit. It felt like a pub with food. You can get cheaper and tastier options elsewhere. Only one vegetarian and one beef dish each.

Will recommend making a reservation beforehand, a must! Take an evening stroll alongside the old city walls after dinner and beer tasting.

What I wonder is why the beer garden in the courtyard "closes" so early = no service is provided there? It's a hit in the summer, and people want to sit outside, but no, after about 8 p.m., they stop serving you and invite you inside... Kind of weird... Then the kitchen also closes at 10-10:30 p.m., when the nightlife is just beginning... The tables are also a problem - the back room upstairs is also rarely accessible or closes earlier. So, all in all, I don't understand this hospitality policy. People come or are there and want to eat and drink, but there are a few "buts" that prevent customers from leaving their money in the restaurant... Otherwise, they have the most delicious beer (I only go here for beer now) and good food!

Great service, friendly staff. Had the Nuremberg sausages to start then the Schnitzel and Pork Medallians. Everything was great, super generous portions. The Pork Medallians' sauce was so black-peppery! It was intense, but I love black pepper so it was amazing. The beer is great too. Just 5 stars all around!

Cool little place. Had their 4 different beers and some sausage. Plenty of seating outside, little smaller inside.

Beer is fantastic, whiskey is also very very good. But we have waited about 10 min for our already reserved table to be found, and waited most an hour for ordering, for our food (3 dishes only, schnitzel goulash and steak). They also forgot our starter order. And in my opinion food is at most mediocre.

A top-notch experience with good beer and food, as well as friendly and fast service. We'd happily return.

A great and well located brewery in the heart of Nuremberg. A bit stuffy for an interior, and the service staff didn’t seem to like Americans very much. But the beer did most of the talking, great tasting beer paired with some hearty goulash soup. Spaetzle was incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly, great with a bite of the beef! A good place to stop in for a quick bite, but the bar packs up very quickly.

A small but excellent brewery. In the attached restaurant, you can sample the deliciously brewed beer or purchase it to take home. The cloudy cellar beer and, of course, the red beer are definitely worth trying; I liked them the most. Franconian specialties provide the culinary delights. Just thinking about the cheese spaetzle makes my mouth water again. You can also book beer and whiskey tours and tastings. The brewery shop has all sorts of things to buy (glasses, beer, whiskey, etc., as well as tickets for the rock galleries).

Love this place and come here whenever in Nuremberg. Good location by castle and cleanliness etc. Food is good, especially the sauerkraut which is way superior to most restaurants, but the beer is even better. As a rough guide, the stronger the alcohol the greater the flavour and also the less carbonated. The roterbock is particularly excellent.

The Schaffele was so delicious!!!!!! The summer bier was better than the sampler. Since we were eating outside, there were a lot of bees and flies, but the staff guided us to our seats, which was nice.

It's very easy to make and makes good beer!

Unfortunately, our large group (12+) only had a limited menu to choose from, so we deducted one point. The quality of the food and drinks was very good. Service deducted one point because there were occasional delays, but not the beer supply!! Classic inn atmosphere with Franconian dishes and excellent beer from the in-house brewery! €30-40 with starter and dessert!

Just stopped by for a beer during a day out. The place was busy with lots of tables reserved but the helpful staff said we could sit at one for our drinks as we explained that we would only be 30 minutes as our bus was leaving shortly. We wanted to try the local beer and it didn't disappoint. If we are in the area again we will definitely go back to eat and have some more of the excellent beer.

Wonderful experience!! There were 11 of us, they made us reserve and even had an Italian waiter!! Excellent beers, I had the trio...superb shoulder...abundant children's cutlet...amazing goulash!!! All good at a reasonable price!! A must-see...home-brewed beers!!

Top beer and friendly staff since 1984

I'm very disappointed. After a long day, I was looking forward to blue squid and a lukewarm potato salad to go with it. I had to sit in the dark because my table lamp's battery was dead. Then the squid arrived with a quarter slice of brown bread and a refrigerator-cold potato salad. I repeatedly tried to make eye contact with the staff, but no one saw me in my dark corner. Anyway, I was really hungry and there was no help in sight – I just ate it all. When the tables were cleared, I shared my criticism. The reaction was just a blank stare. So I looked back, paid quickly, and left. I actually wanted to buy bottled beer because I actually like the brewery's concept. But I decided against it. I wish I'd gone to one of the many other nice restaurants. Maybe they don't just heat things up halfheartedly in the microwave there, and criticism is taken seriously if necessary.

It's a bit touristy, but the food is good, the beer is simply excellent and organic. Where else can you get a red wheat beer?

A great spot to enjoy authentic German beer! I skipped the meal hours and just enjoyed a quiet moment with beer. I’m not exactly a beer expert, but tasting different kinds and noticing their subtle differences made me realize—this is what really good beer tastes like. Experiencing that in such a historically rich city made it even more special 🍺

There's a great selection of home-brewed beers, whiskeys, and beer brandies—you can also sample a little of everything. Unfortunately, it's 'only' rated 3 stars—even though the service was super friendly, we had to wait a long time to place our order, despite the restaurant being half-empty. We actually wanted to order dessert, but were worried we'd have to wait another long time. We understand that inexperienced staff and rush hour are possible—but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The food was good, but unfortunately, it was very salty and the portions quite small; my husband wasn't satisfied. We're sure there are plenty of people who disagree with us, but for us, the Altstadthof is unfortunately not an alternative for dinner.... All the best anyway!

The beer is excellent. The food is excellent. I also like the ambiance. I particularly like the efficient, very friendly, and fast staff. Mostly young people, it seems to me. Praise and recognition. I would be happy if the dark beer were also available in large bottles for takeaway at some point.

The food is fresh and well-prepared. The meat isn't oversalted and comes straight from the oven. Many thanks to the chef—I highly recommend his cuisine. I give the service 3 stars. The waiters are very friendly and attentive; I would give them 5 stars. However, when paying, our debit cards weren't accepted by the machines. We had to withdraw money from the ATM located in the same restaurant to pay—there was a €5.99 fee. This was an unpleasant end to our dinner. Therefore, I recommend bringing cash.

The red beer is delicious. It's worth stopping for a bite after visiting the underground cellars. The sausages are excellent.

The kitchen and service staff were top-notch! Very attentive! The food was excellent! The outdoor ambiance/beer garden was very nice!

We only wanted to try the beer because the tour of the rock galleries had piqued our interest. The four of us ordered drinks and only one sausage and fries. The super friendly, relaxed waitress immediately offered us a "Räuberteller" (robber's plate) – amazing. The beer tasting with Schwarz Rot Gold is a great idea, both visually and taste-wise. We recommend the brewery if you're visiting Nuremberg.

In my opinion, the best beer we've had in Nuremberg. We've been there several times and tried the Rote Bier, the Rote Weiße, and the Keller. They were all truly excellent, and the food was good too. We'll definitely go back if we're in Nuremberg again.

Micro Brewery. We didn't order much food, but the sausages were as delicious as expected. We had two beers: Kellerbier and Rotbier. Since we're opinionated friends, we both enjoyed them.

I really enjoy being here and come often. The food is excellent, and the beer, in my opinion, is one of the best in all of Germany. Simply fantastic! But the staff... unfortunately, often seem tired and unfriendly. Smiles don't seem to exist here at all. Please do something about the service, because it leaves a bad taste in your mouth after such an otherwise great meal and, in my opinion, the best beer. As I mentioned, this is unfortunately not the first time. You could say it was a bad day or stress; I could overlook that if it were a one-off incident. But unfortunately, this happens all the time. It's a real shame!

Beautiful, shady courtyard – except for one table, everything was reserved. We were barely seated when the resolute landlady came over and pointed out that all the tables were reserved. Too bad, we would have liked to stay, but we weren't offered an alternative table. So we left the restaurant after a quick beer. These were, however, very tasty...

This is a very good choice to eat and to drink local beer and local black cola. And the menu is very very tasty. And the atmosphere is fantastic, everywhere the people are celebrating life, and their liberty. Nürmberg is a wonderful place to be happy, regardless of religion, nationality or colour.

The tasting of three specialty beers is fantastic, the service and location are charming. The typical Nuremberg sausages are very good.
