Haus Sondermann in Wuppertal

This was my third time eating here with my wife, and I'd like to make a few comments. The service is good and very attentive despite the restaurant being packed during the pre-Christmas season. However, the noise level is very unpleasantly loud; it echoes, and everyone has to speak very loudly to be heard. The main point of criticism, however, is the food: boiled potatoes that were apparently delivered vacuum-packed and mushrooms from a jar or can are hardly acceptable to me. Deep-fried pike-perch fillet and very overcooked vegetables: all in all, not very tasty, but the portions were really large; you could definitely eat your fill.

Haus Sondermann (Velbert-Neviges) We stayed at Haus Sondermann in Velbert-Neviges and had a pleasant stay overall. The ambiance is very inviting: The large beer garden and children's playground in particular make the hotel attractive for families. The new winter garden is excellent! The quiet, green location also contributes to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied, the portions are generous, and the value for money is good. The food was solid and delicious. The hotel rooms are functionally furnished and offer everything you need for a short stay. Don't expect luxury, but for the price, it's okay. Positives: Wi-Fi and parking! Conclusion: A cozy country inn with a friendly atmosphere, a lovely outdoor terrace, and a family-friendly concept. Ideal for a relaxed meal or a hassle-free overnight stay. Beautiful place!

Yesterday, the four of us dined at Haus Sondermann for the first time. The restaurant was quite busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our food. We all enjoyed our meals. The price-performance ratio was excellent, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

I ate there for the first time today with some colleagues. While the location is a bit out of the way, it makes up for it with a really lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was quite busy – perhaps due to the time of year – which actually added to the cozy ambiance. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Overall, a very enjoyable visit – I'd gladly go again!

We were a group of four who had a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening. The entrance was very impressive. Friendly, and wood is always a good choice. We received a very warm welcome. The service was impeccable throughout the entire evening. Very attentive. A beer was accidentally spilled during service, but they compensated by offering complimentary tiramisu for everyone. A lovely gesture. The food was excellent, and they readily accommodated our allergy requests and provided alternatives. The value for money was excellent. The only downsides were the parking situation, which can be very muddy in bad weather, and unfortunately, the noise level inside the restaurant, at least where we were seated. Therefore, I'm deducting one star. I give it a solid 4+ out of 5, and we would gladly return.

5 stars aren't enough! 👍 I celebrated my 60th birthday with 30 people at Haus Sondermann on Saturday. There were 6 children and 2 people in wheelchairs, and they were all incredibly well looked after. I have to say, from the planning with the owner to the end of the party, everything was absolutely fantastic. The location, the food, the price, and especially the service and staff were simply amazing. You can tell that these people love their jobs. We were even allowed to bring our own little hairdresser because of a child's gluten intolerance. I've rarely, if ever, encountered such a great location and such a fantastic team and owner. Last night, there were four of us there! The food was great, as always! But we felt like we were in a transit terminal. All the seats were taken, and the tables and chairs were so close together that it was almost impossible to sit! The noise level was so high that you couldn't have a conversation; it was simply impossible! We left after about 45 minutes. I know profit is everything, but this was really bad. What a shame.

I ate at this restaurant for the first time today. According to the internet, it's supposed to offer good, traditional German cuisine. None of these expectations were met. The service was unmotivated, followed by a rather unappetizing meal. The picture shows the "pepper steak," which had absolutely nothing to do with pepper. The dumplings I ordered separately were pre-made dumplings that were still powdery inside. Anyone who eats here might as well just leave the window open for all the money they're throwing away. Furthermore, the third photo shows the cevapcici, which were nothing like cevapcici.

The staff were very friendly, but the food had a fast-food feel. The schnitzel was deep-fried, and there was no longer a side salad, which now had to be ordered separately. There wasn't even any salad garnish on the plate. They kindly asked if we wanted ketchup or mayo, which was then charged extra. A shame.

The ambiance is lovely, the conservatory is very cozy, there's ample free parking right next to the building (gravel parking lot) including disabled parking spaces, an accessible restroom is also available, the chairs are comfortable enough to sit in for a while, the staff is very friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the price is reasonable. We will definitely eat there again.

Together with a good friend, we visited the Haus Sondermann restaurant for the third time and were impressed by the great service from the friendly staff and the excellent selection of dishes. We received quick and extremely friendly service, and the dishes we ordered were served simultaneously after a very short wait. I had the pork knuckle, which is served in October at Oktoberfest, and I have to say it was the largest and tastiest knuckle I've had so far. I haven't had such a good meal, even in Bavaria. The other dishes, such as the Styrian-style Cordon Bleu and the gourmet schnitzel, were also very good, with generous portions. The restaurant features comfortable seating, and there are rooms for events, a winter garden, and a beer garden. There is ample parking. Haus Sondermann is now one of our regular restaurants.

I can't comment on the hotel or the rooms, as we only visited the restaurant. A few years ago (under the previous owner), we weren't happy with the food. We went back a few days ago, hoping it would be better under new management. Far from it; it was a complete disaster. No one out of four people was satisfied...not a single plate was emptied. The cevapcici were like rubber, and the fries had been reheated at least once. When we tried to pick them up with a fork, they slipped off the plate. The meat was cooked to death. Never again!

A pleasant day-trip restaurant in the rural area of ​​Velbert. A large and very pleasant beer garden with excellent service. We were there for lunch and enjoyed the very good value for money. Many seniors have also discovered the place for themselves.

Unfortunately, a disaster. Unfriendly service, promises not kept, 15-minute wait. There was a box of rat poison in the sandbox at the playground, and poison on the grass – even after being informed, nothing was done about it. Play equipment was broken and dangerous for children. The food was disappointing: bruschetta was sweet instead of spicy, main courses were tasteless, and the beer wasn't cold. Seating was damaged – I fell. Overall, the worst restaurant experience ever. The condition is intolerable and I will report it to the veterinary office, the health department, and the public order office.

All I can say is: The hotel management was exceptionally friendly and accommodating! Thank you again for your hospitality.

We had the waffles with hot cherries, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream. The coffee was good. Personally, it didn't taste good. It was too artificial. Too sweet. The waffles with hot cherries and whipped cream left a pleasant impression. The staff was attentive and friendly.

There are plenty of seating options: outside in the beer garden, in the conservatory, or inside – and even a playground for children. The food was absolutely amazing: my stuffed minced steak with feta cheese was incredibly delicious, and my partner's rump steak (medium rare) was cooked to perfection. Everything arrived piping hot at the table – really, really good! Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

We were here today for the third and final time. The staff is truly attentive, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The food we were served today is better and more stylishly presented at almost any chip shop than here at Haus Sondermann. When I order a gourmet schnitzel for €19.80, I expect at least a small salad garnish on the plate or a small side salad that's a feast for the eyes. Here are two small schnitzels, cooked in the deep fryer, with gourmet sauce on one side, and the French fries on the other side of the plate. My wife ordered pike-perch fillet with potatoes and vegetables. The fillet simply had its own flavor without any seasoning, the potatoes were mushy, and the vegetables were completely overcooked. My wife pointed this out to the waiter while clearing the table. His response: "I'll pass this on to the kitchen." My mother ordered herring with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were of such poor and greasy quality that they kept giving me "paws" afterward. It seems to me that the quality of the food suffered greatly due to the large number of visitors, following the motto "quantity over quality." It's a real shame, Haus Sondermann!

It's okay as a day-trip restaurant. The playground is small but nice. The kids played while we waited for their food. I had schnitzel with fried potatoes. Unfortunately, the schnitzel didn't seem freshly cooked or deep-fried (which isn't acceptable, even after a 10-minute wait), and the potatoes for the fried potatoes were overcooked. Both were fine in terms of taste. My husband's spare ribs and fries were good. The kids' portions of kibbeling and nuggets were also good. The portions were all too large for us. We would have preferred smaller portions and a bit cheaper...

But there were still tables available inside, in the winter garden, and in the beer garden. There were three of us and we chose a table in the winter garden. The restaurant was very full but not too loud. The ambiance was more modern than I remembered. (We had been there about 20 years ago and were disappointed.) Some friends told us that Haus Sondermann had a new concept or a new chef. We ordered starters, main courses, and desserts and were very surprised by what was served. Tasty, well-presented, good portions, and a fair price. The restrooms were modern and clean. We will definitely come back often in the future.

I'd gladly give it no stars. We waited 10 minutes for drinks on a Friday at 3:30 p.m. when the restaurant was about a third full. We ordered the rump steak special. The meat came with frozen vegetables and fried potatoes from a packet. For €29.90, it's ridiculous. Never again!

The children's playground at the beer garden is particularly nice for us as a family: it has a swing, sandbox, pedal car, and trampoline (although this one needs updating). There's also plenty of space to play tag and run around. This way, parents can really enjoy the beer garden too. The food was excellent and the value for money is great! We will definitely come back. We went there with the family for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was a lovely conservatory with a sweeping view of the greenery. The service was very friendly and the food was excellent. All orders were served hot and at the same time. The food was of very good quality, although the prices were a bit higher, but there was a very good weekly menu with reasonable prices. The spit roast deserves special mention, a delicacy :-) We give it a 5 out of 5. We'll be back!

We celebrated a birthday there two years ago with 30 people. Everything was great. Today we went there again with family for dinner. The food was inedible. The fried potatoes were dripping in oil, impossible to eat! The fries were hard and greasy. The nuggets were hard, and the roast beef with onions came with instant sauce and mushy onions. The crust was far too thickly breaded. We were very disappointed and weren't even asked if everything was okay—they just cleared the table and took the money without giving us a bill! To top it all off, everyone has a stomach ache! We won't be coming back! A shame

There's an outdoor play area on the lawn with equipment for children. The food was good and delicious. Little touches like the printed candy cones, cookies, and plates add a real touch of class to the restaurant.

We were here for lunch. I ordered asparagus with Wiener schnitzel from the menu. It came with boiled potatoes and hollandaise sauce. Unfortunately, the boiled potatoes were completely overcooked, and with the butter melted over them, they were just a small mess. The asparagus was good, but for me personally, it tasted too much like lemon. The schnitzel was good, but unfortunately, the breading wasn't really crispy, or at least not crispy enough. The portions are very generous; two people could almost share a dish. Overall, a "you can do it, but you don't have to."

We were your guests on Saturday The house was really full and yet the food and drinks came really quickly! In any case, many restaurants can learn a lesson. After the first meal was served, the rest followed very quickly so that we could eat together. The food was classic, home cooking and delicious. Prices are also in the decent price segment. You have to say positive things too! Even though the house was full, our waiter always had an eye on everything and thank you to Server 2 for that! We'll definitely be back!

We had a birthday party with about 60 people, we were promised everything would be perfect, it was better!! Service, food and ambience are great. The overnight rooms are getting old, but clean and ok. Some of our friends stayed overnight in the large parking lot in the RV and everyone came to have breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. Vor gut einem Jahr war das Restaurant echt toll und preislich ok. Der neue Besitzer hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben. Der neue Wintergarten und die schöne Außenterrasse luden zum Relaxen ein. Leider sieht die Welt dieses Jahr anders aus. Die Preise gingen um gut 50% rauf und die Qualität des Essens um 70% runter. Angeblich gab es keinen Wechsel des Kochs. Die Pfannenschnitzel wurden durch deutlich billigere Fritteusenschnitzel ersetzt, die Beilagen massiv reduziert und der Beilagensalat bei den Schnitzeln ganz gestrichen. Die Essen haben jetzt nur noch Pommesbudenqualität, wenn überhaupt, und werden ziemlich lieblos auf den Tellern angerichtet. Außerdem muss man jetzt mit fast 20 Euro pro Essen rechnen. Günstigere Essen sind sofort vergriffen. Wir waren richtig enttäuscht, trotz tollem Wetter. Zufriedene Kunden kommen gerne wieder, unzufriedene schauen sich nach Alternativen um. Qualität siegt immer vor Quantität. Schade. Wir sind gerne und oft gekommen, werden aber jetzt auf andere Lokalitäten in der näheren Umgebung ausweichen.

Wir waren schon bei den alten Besitzer und es hat sich vieles positiv verändert. Jedoch muss man den jetzigen Besitzern ans Herz legen: Wenn man mit Familienfreundlichkeit und einem Spielplatz wirbt sollte man auch dafür sorgen, dass Spielgeräte renoviert oder erneuert werden. Die Spielgeräte, die schon vor vielen Jahren hier waren, fallen so langsam auseinander.
