Gute regionale Küche, tolle Auswahl und für jeden etwas passendes dabei. Die Atmosphäre ist wunderbar und rundet neben dem guten Service alles ab. Hoffentlich bleibt das Team noch lange erhalten!

Sehr schönes deutsches Restaurant. Freundliche Bediehnung und leckeres Essen. Sowas muss erhalten und unterstützt werden, es gibt genug Systemgastro in unseren Innenstätten, da ist dieses Restaurant eine echte Perle.

Wir waren spontan zum Abendessen hier. Der Gastraum ist recht übersichtlich, von daher ist reservieren dringend zu empfehlen. Wir haben einen Platz an der Theke bekommen, was uns durchaus zugesagt hat. Man findet eine typisch urige Kneipenatmosphäre bei herzlicher Bedienung vor. Man muss allerdings auf eine laute Geräuschkulisse gefasst sein. Das Essen ist herausragend. Irgendwie klassische deutsche Küche, aber dennoch irgendwie besonders und unfassbar lecker. Für uns war es ein rundum gelungener Abend.

Total enttäuscht! Wir waren zu dritt in Wuppertal und freuten uns, auf Grund der guten Rezensionen und dem gemütlichen Ambiente auf einen schönen Abend. Die Bedienung war heillos überfordert! Die Getränke und auch das Essen war relativ flott am Tisch - dann ging das Drama los; Cordon Bleu war grade mal glasig gebraten, haben es zum nachgaren an die Küche zurück geben lassen, auch dann war es nicht durch, die dazugehörigen Pommes dafür hart frittiert. Das Rumpsteak, dass Medium bestellt war, war fast roh, dazu gab es nur 4 Kroketten, diese waren matschig und lauwarm. Der Beilagensalat knirschte ordentlich vor lauter Sand und viele Blätter waren welk. So auch bei dem 3. Gericht, dem Salat mit Bratkartoffeln. Die Bratkartoffeln schmeckten nach ranzigem Fett und waren hart. Die Portionen waren für die doch stattlichen Preise sehr klein. Leider ein kompletter Reinfall. Sollten wir nochmal nach Wuppertal kommen, dort werden wir bestimmt nicht noch einmal einkehren.

Super Essen, freundliches Personal.Immer wieder Klasse.

Ein absoluter Klassiker mit einer tollen Auswahl an lokalen Bieren. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist unschlagbar, und die sympathischen Damen machen den Besuch zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Ein absolutes Muss bei einem Besuch dieser wunderschönen Stadt.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, leider war die Portion nur etwas zu klein für einen großen Hunger.

Wir haben nichts gegessen, aber das Bier war super! Kann ich absolut empfehlen.

Dieses gemütliche und warme kleine Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen. Es bietet eine gute Auswahl an Bieren, eine umfangreiche Speisekarte und das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft und wird ganz nach Wunsch zubereitet.

Eine tolles Lokal, schön urig, Personal sehr freundlich. Habe Eisbein bestellt und wurde nicht enttäuscht, eine riesen Portion und auch sehr lecker. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Wir haben dieses Pub auf der Suche nach originellem Essen entdeckt, es war fantastisch und die Bierauswahl war großartig.

Ein sehr interessantes Restaurant mit angenehmer Atmosphäre. Der Service war gut und das Essen kam schnell. Allerdings hat es nicht allen geschmeckt.

Sehr gute deutsche bodenständige Küche aber nicht stehengeblieben. So stehen neben deutschen Klassikern, wie Eisbein mit Kartoffelstampf und Sauerkraut oder Schnitzel auch Wildgerichte und Wildburger auf der Karte. Gleiches gilt für das Ambiente. Klassische Wirtshausatmosphäre, aber nicht veraltet oder heruntergekommen. Die Mitarbeiter*Innen Service waren herzlich und engagiert. Wer klassische deutsche Wirtshausatmosphäre erleben möchte ist hier an der richtigen Adresse. Ich zumindest war nicht das letzte Mal dort.

Sehr beliebtes Restaurant mitten in Wuppertal.

Wir waren zu 4. bei einem JGA zu Besuch in Restaurant. Vorher hatten wir online reserviert, was auch problemlos geklappt hat. Als wir vor Ort waren haben so schnell unsere Tisch zugeteilt bekommen . Die Bedienungen waren sehr nett. Getränken kamen schnell und auch auf das Essen mussten wir nicht lange warten . Die Portionen sind nicht sonderlich groß aber für Frauen und ältere Menschen ausreichend. Bei Männern könnte ich mir vorstellen, das es nicht unbedingt zum satt werden reicht. Wir hatten eine Beanstandung des Fleisches , da es nicht ganz durch war . Hiermit wurde absolut souverän umgegangen !! Toll!! Ein kleines Restaurant, welches nicht direkt ersichtlich ist aber eine gute Küche und guten Service hat. Eine tolle Alternative zu all den großen Ketten. Absolut einen Besuch wert ! Liebes Team, macht weiter so !

Waren während unseres Aufenthaltes in Wptl. dort zum Abendessen! Vorweg des einzig negative: wir waren als Gruppe dort mit Reservierung! Leider wurden wir auf 2 Tische " verteilt ", weil Panne bei der Reservierung! Aber ok, die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter machte das wieder wett!! Das Lokal, absolut urig eingerichtet!! Eine gute Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen! Und das Essen war wirklich hervorragend!! Eine Tischreservierung ist absolut empfehlenswert! .Mit Beachtung der Räuberteller😂😂

Die Einrichtung des Restaurants hat mir sehr gut gefallen – sie wirkte auf mich hübsch und gemütlich. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Getränke empfand ich persönlich als etwas teurer, wurden dafür aber zügig serviert. Die Speisekarte ließ sich gut lesen und war übersichtlich gestaltet. Meinem Eindruck nach ist für unterschiedliche Geschmäcker etwas dabei. Die Portion des Hauptgerichts war sehr üppig und der Preis insgesamt aus meiner Sicht günstig. Weniger überzeugen konnte mich allerdings die Beilage. Es handelte sich um Kartoffelpüree, das auf mich optisch ungewohnt wirkte, da es sehr glänzend und wässrig aussah. Auch die Konsistenz empfand ich als ungewöhnlich. Geschmacklich entsprach es leider ebenfalls nicht meinen Erwartungen, da es für mich sehr verwässert schmeckte. Der typische Geschmack von Milch, Sahne und Butter, den ich bei Kartoffelpüree erwarte, fehlte mir. Insgesamt machte die Beilage auf mich daher einen eher industriellen Eindruck, was jedoch lediglich meine persönliche Wahrnehmung ist. Trotz dieses Punktes kann ich mir vorstellen, dem Restaurant noch eine weitere Chance zu geben und bei einem nächsten Besuch ein anderes Gericht auszuprobieren.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4 von 5) Ich war heute (29.12.2025) bei Wagner am Mäuerchen. Die Kellnerin war sehr, sehr nett und freundlich. Als Vorspeise hatte ich die Tagessuppe, die gut geschmeckt hat. Als Hauptgericht habe ich ein Schnitzel (Krüstchenteller – Pfannenschnitzel, hausgeklopft, paniert, mit Schmorzwiebeln und Spiegelei auf geröstetem Weißbrot) bestellt. Leider war ein Teil des Schnitzels innen noch roh, was sehr gefährlich sein kann. Ich hoffe, dass dies ein einmaliger Fehler war und das nächste Mal besser wird. Das Lokal ist sauber und schön eingerichtet. Trotzdem möchte ich noch einmal betonen, dass der Service wirklich sehr freundlich war.

A table was reserved for 15 people, but after the first 7 had finished eating, the food for the remaining guests finally arrived. It's baffling when you reserve for 15 people weeks in advance. The food was okay, but the convenience vegetables could easily be prepared at home; there's no need to eat out for that. Since we were already sitting very cramped, the dishes weren't cleared. Fifteen minutes after finishing our meal, I asked the waitress to please clear the table. The answer was: yes, they wanted to clear the tables only after everyone had finished... brilliant idea, considering half the group received their food 20 minutes after the others... Two people wanted to order dessert... answer: that wasn't possible right now, they should wait... The younger (and genuinely nice) waitress was denounced by another waitress in front of the guests (I'll do it, you watch). Drink orders weren't reordered unless requested... Conclusion: the menu looks great, but the rest is dispensable.

Friendly staff and everything very tasty

I had made a reservation for five people in advance. Upon arriving at the restaurant, there were no tables available. Guests were moved around, and we were eventually seated in a booth. It was very crowded, and it was difficult to move around. The booth was quite cramped for five people, making it difficult to carry our plates. We had to wait 45-50 minutes for our food, which could only be described as "okay." Based on previous reviews, I had expected more. The restaurant was also very noisy, making it difficult to have a conversation except with the person directly to your right or left. The staff were generally very friendly. Unfortunately, the restroom was a disaster, with a huge hole in the wall, so my young daughter was afraid to use it.

We went there with a large group of friends to spend a cozy, rustic evening enjoying good, down-to-earth food. No high expectations, no haute cuisine – just solid, home-style cooking. Based on the reviews, that's exactly what we were looking forward to. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. Food quality: – A rump steak that was clearly spoiled was "disguised" with gravy and coarsely ground pepper and served as a steak with peppercorn sauce. – Fried potatoes completely without bacon or onions. What are fried potatoes without bacon and onions? Some kind of dry, bland thing – but certainly not fried potatoes. – A "premium venison burger" turned out to be a pressed, pre-made patty on a ready-made sauce with unappetizingly flabby bacon. – The only bright spots were the fries and the pickled herring – although, to be fair, pickled herring is a ready-made product. No one catches that fresh in the Wupper River there; it arrives already prepared and ready to eat. Particularly irritating: Shortly after complaining about the spoiled rump steak, suddenly none were available. One might suspect foul play. Service: The service was inattentive and seemed overwhelmed. We handled the complaint about the spoiled meat very discreetly and would have appreciated at least a sincere apology or a brief conversation from the chef or management. We know from other establishments that when such a serious mistake occurs, someone comes to the table, explains, and expresses regret. Here – nothing. Restrooms: The toilets were in a state that could easily be remedied with a thorough cleaning. As we found them, they were completely neglected. Why this review? We expressed our dissatisfaction calmly, but no one seemed to care. If the owner doesn't care about the guests, then I don't care either if a review lowers the average. A kind word, a brief apology, a sign of appreciation – especially during the pre-Christmas season, it would have been so easy to defuse the situation. But understanding ends where understanding for the guest ends. For us, one thing is certain: We will not be visiting this establishment again, nor will we recommend it. What was supposed to be a cozy evening turned into a dreadful one that we won't soon forget – unfortunately, not in a good way.

The quality was great, only the vegetables were very salty.

We went to Wagner's on a Thursday, lured by the many positive reviews. We had made a reservation for seven people. When my friend and I arrived first, we immediately asked the older waitress if the table was actually meant for seven. Her reply: "Of course, it's obvious." We already felt somewhat rudely dismissed at that point. The table was extremely cramped, and the guests at the next table were seated in such a way that one side of our table was completely unusable. When our friends arrived, it was immediately noticeable how little space there was. Later, another friend joined us spontaneously. Although our table was supposedly suitable for nine people, it was barely possible for us to sit down, and she somehow managed to squeeze in. The waitress simply commented, "Well, you only reserved for seven." My friend replied, "Should I leave?" – to which the waitress merely rolled her eyes and walked away. We found this behavior very inappropriate and disrespectful. After almost 20 minutes, we weren't asked about drinks for the first time, and another 15 minutes passed before we finally received them. The restaurant was busy, but the young waitress was clearly working almost alone – her older colleague was mainly tending to a group of men and later even sat there instead of serving guests. We ordered appetizers and main courses. The menu sounded promising, but the disappointment quickly followed: the salad was gritty, and the black pudding and cheese were tasteless. Around 9:30 p.m., after more than two hours, the main courses arrived. A friend had ordered pepper steak – there were no peppercorns to be found, just coarse pepper sprinkled on top. The unpleasant smell of the meat was immediately noticeable – it was spoiled. We had several people check it because we could hardly believe it ourselves. My friend took the plate to the waitress and explained the situation. There was neither an apology nor any real expression of regret. Later, we were simply told that they were out of steaks and that my friend could choose something else. She ordered a Wiener Schnitzel. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only disappointment: – Pork schnitzel from the deep fryer – Far too greasy fried potatoes – Burger (“Brandenburger”) very dark/black When we finished, we gave our honest feedback. However, they didn't want to hear it – it was ignored. I find that very disappointing, which is why I'm writing this review. Since one waitress was sitting at the regulars' table and the other was cleaning the bar, we sat with empty glasses and decided against dessert. We asked for the bill and left. Things can go wrong sometimes – but this was definitely too much. The spoiled steak wasn't charged, but a genuine gesture of goodwill or at least an apology would have been appropriate. Another point: When you enter the restrooms and see the state of the facilities, you don't even want to know what the kitchen looks like. Too bad – another restaurant in Wuppertal that we can't recommend.

One entire side was completely unusable without asking the neighboring table to move – very awkward for everyone involved. An eighth person spontaneously arrived, to which the waitress simply commented, "But you only booked for seven." When we asked if the person should leave, she just rolled her eyes and smirked. Extremely unprofessional behavior. The service overall was also disappointing. Drinks were only brought when we actively asked for them – unfortunately, no one came on their own. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. Especially bad: my girlfriend's pepper steak was spoiled. Since neither of the two waitresses felt responsible, we had to take the plate to the counter ourselves. There was no interest or understanding shown. After some time, we were simply informed that they were out of steak and that we could choose something else. An apology? Not a chance. While the steak wasn't charged, the replacement dish was – without a word of regret. During our visit, the service seemed generally disorganized: one waitress preferred to sit at the regulars' table with a few gentlemen, while the other was practically nowhere to be found. As a result, we couldn't order any more drinks or dessert and decided to abandon the rest of our visit. Another major drawback was the state of the restrooms. The condition of the toilets was appalling. While old is perfectly acceptable, old and neglected unfortunately leaves a very bad impression – especially regarding overall hygiene. In conclusion: Unfortunately, a thoroughly disappointing experience – from a lack of hospitality and poor service to hygiene problems. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Just had a few great beers, service first class and friendly, the place was quiet due to being mid afternoon.

I recommend the cordon bleu escalope, excellent. Very typical German atmosphere, comfortable, but the older waitress assumed the change was for her and kept it for herself, hahaha. But it's a good place overall.

A traditional inn in the best sense, serving hearty, home-style cooking. Regional ingredients, deliciously prepared. You can eat in, or play cards with friends over a beer. Depending on the day and time, a reservation is recommended.

Wagner am Mäuerchen is an absolute highlight in Wuppertal! I've been to this restaurant several times and have been impressed every time. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic, with wood-paneled walls and dim lighting. The service is friendly and attentive, and the waitresses always strive to please. The menu is varied and offers something for every taste. I tried the schnitzel, and it was simply perfect—crispy and juicy at the same time. The portions are generous, and the prices are fair. What impressed me most, however, is the attention to detail and the passion with which the staff work. It's obvious that they care about the quality of the food and the satisfaction of their guests. I highly recommend Wagner am Mäuerchen if you're looking for a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. It's a perfect place for family celebrations, business lunches, or simply a cozy evening with friends. I will definitely be back!

Great German restaurant in the center of Wuppertal. The menu is varied, the beer is excellent, the atmosphere is unique, just a nice quiet place to hang out with friends. The landlady speaks several languages, including a little Polish. Although the area is very multicultural, there were only Germans here.

A long-established, rustic restaurant with typical Bergisches Land dishes. Plus a delicious beer and prompt service—what more could you want?

Really cozy. Inside and out. Large selection of very good beers. The staff were a bit older, but very friendly and quick. I had a farmer's schnitzel. I've rarely had such a good piece of meat. The fried potatoes were delicious, and the pickled gherkins were too, although unusual at first. It's beautifully rustic, but very clean. We had a very nice evening, thanks in part to the friendly staff.

Uncomfortable old brewery. As soon as you enter, you're transported back to the old days. Extensive menu with daily specials. The Bergisches Landbier is delicious. A small terrace in front of the building.

Three of us were there to chat, have a drink, and of course, something to eat. Atmosphere _________________________________________ It's rustic and quaint, with a beer garden feel. Large selection of drinks, including the draft house lemonades, which are absolutely delicious. ___________________________________________ Price/Performance Was OK Reasonable for the location We paid €105 for three main courses, six drinks, and one dessert, including tip. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Food/Taste Was quite tasty. For the Florentine steak, they could have provided the Dutch oven from a separate saucer, or added to the description that the sauce is made with the spinach. The rump steak was cooked to perfection, as was the garlic sauce. Although the sauce should have been served separately. The rösti were crispy and not too greasy. The aspic was okay. The fried potatoes were partially burnt and greasy. The dishes were perfectly matched to the dishes, keep it up. Only the salad garnish is so 80s and costs the host unnecessary money. This is high-level criticism and doesn't detract from the chef's taste or work; he does a good job. _________________________________________ Service The middle-aged waitress was friendly and tried to do her job well. The waitress with the colorful hair was a bit gruff, without a smile on her face. The male colleague with a beard seemed overwhelmed. Also, people were smoking more than working... If you tip and don't thank them, I find that rude. The bill wasn't correct, even though it was in our favor (€17), which shouldn't happen. At least the middle-aged waitress thanked us. Despite one or two criticisms, I can recommend the restaurant. We will be back.

The atmosphere is typical of a brewery, a bit loud but nice. The food came quickly, but unfortunately the fries were extremely overcooked and hard. Everyone else was happy with their food, though I probably would have preferred the fried potatoes.

A Wuppertal institution with a great menu and delicious food. Hearty and hearty. Bergisch, pork knuckle, pancakes, schnitzel, herring tip, to name a few. Beautiful outdoor area, friendly, great service. A changing seasonal and weekly menu. Great beer selection (Bergisches Landbier, Füchschen, and much more).

A beautifully centrally located, long-established restaurant. We were treated to a small lunch snack. The food (tomato soup and herring) was very fresh and delicious. Two friendly waitresses were also there. We highly recommend a visit.

Great food for a reasonable price.

Following a recommendation, we visited this restaurant on August 9, 2025. We ordered food with great anticipation. Unfortunately, we were disappointed when the food arrived. The salad wasn't seasoned, it had a drop of dressing, and it tasted dry and not fresh. The schnitzel was good, but there were only four pieces. We had the loin, which was dry and hard, and almost impossible to cut. The pork knuckle was also pale, not well seasoned, and everything was very poorly done. Overall, we have to say that the price-performance ratio is not right. For this price, you should expect fresh and delicious food. It's a shame, but we can't recommend it!

Unfortunately, the food there was very bad. The portions were far too small, the meat very dry, and the service downright unfriendly. When we complained to the staff, the waitress said in such an unfriendly tone that she couldn't change the fact that the meat was dry and hard because they had bought bad meat. But the other portions my friends had were also a disaster. The food was barely seasoned, if at all, and cold to boot. I really don't imagine good German cuisine to be like that. Many snack bars in Elberfeld serve much better food. I therefore really cannot recommend this restaurant. Go somewhere else where you know the food is good.

On my first visit to Wuppertal in March, I went to this restaurant because I liked the menu. Such typically German and rustic food. I was there with friends and the first thing we ordered was a round of beer. For starters, I had onion soup, which was absolutely delicious, followed by spaetzle with venison goulash. Yesterday (June 7, 2025), I had the Schlachteplatte (slaughter platter). The food overall was delicious and tasted really good. Strongly spiced, as it should be. The restaurant is always quite full and the service is good. The ambiance, like the food, is rustic. It's definitely worth a visit. You should definitely make a reservation.

What a great place with delicious food and wonderful cuts.

The food tasted great, nothing to complain about. However, the portion was much too small; I left hungry. The schnitzel was the same portion as the children's schnitzel, but not the same price. The children's schnitzel came without salad, even though the menu states it does; it only came with a lettuce leaf and a slice of cucumber. The wait time, over 50 minutes, was also borderline. It's a shame; if the wait time and portion size had been reasonable, this would have been a 5-star rating.

We went there for the first time yesterday, and based on the menu and previous reviews, it sounded good. The schnitzel with salad was okay. There wasn't much sauce, though. My pork medallions, on the other hand, were a bit tough, the hollandaise sauce was ready-made from a packet, and the vegetables tasted like they came from the freezer and had very little to no seasoning. Bottom line: You don't need to have it again.

Nice place! Cozy inside too. Given the staff shortage at this time, I understand it can take longer for someone to come to you, but if you are seen and then after a long time no one comes to your table. Eventually food given, still no drinks. We were also forgotten so ask again. Food price and what we got was good.

Unfortunately, the Coke wasn't carbonated. The schnitzel with asparagus only had three asparagus spears. The hollandaise sauce was cold, and the potatoes and schnitzel were lukewarm. I pointed this out, and they didn't charge for my drink. The service was very friendly.

Wagner am Mäuerchen – Wuppertal's charming wine wonderland You enter Wagner am Mäuerchen and suddenly feel like you're in a cross between a wine cellar and Aunt Renate's living room – only with better wine and fewer porcelain figurines. The service? So warm you almost want to say "Mommy." The wines? Dry, like the waiter's sense of humor. The food? Regional, seasonal, and so good that even the spaghetti on the plate would applaud – if it could. Highlight: An evening there is like a good Riesling: slightly tipsy, pleasantly round, and at the end you wonder why you didn't come sooner. Conclusion: Wagner am Mäuerchen – where the wine flows, the wit sparkles, and the calories are, for once, welcome.

I can definitely recommend this restaurant; it's excellent value for money. I had a dish from the daily special with soup, which was well-prepared, and the vegetables were excellent. Very friendly staff.

Rather small restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. Extra lunch menu with changing dishes, not too expensive. We enjoyed it...

We ate at this restaurant during this week and I have to say that the waiters were really not great. To say the least, one specific waiter was very entitled and rude. When we got there she seemed bothered by the fact that we were there at all and mentioned that she might be able to finally have a smoke if we could just sit down. The other waiter only came by once with no interest in taking our order and dissappeared as soon as the other did go smoking outside. Then the first seemed bothered when we ordered and afterwards when we were paying, upset with her service we obviously did not tip, she told us that tip was not included in the bill and that we could leave it on the table. The food was not bad, but the attitude of the waiters will not see us ever again.

A lovely traditional restaurant with lovingly prepared food. I've eaten there several times now and it's always been good.
