Excellent restaurant surrounded by nature and very friendly staff.

Planned stop at the end of our walk. None of us had been here before, and we were more than surprised by the warm welcome. We ordered coffee, waffles, and cake. Again, we were very pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. We had a lovely time here, and the service was excellent. We'll definitely be back.

Please be careful when paying - don't rely on the prices!! - We were charged €5.90 for a side order of croquettes (=6 mini croquettes), which was listed on the menu as €2.50 - so €1 per mini croquette. After we asked, they said: Yes... THIS menu (which we were given as a second sheet to choose from) doesn't apply to you, so they charged us €5.99. We found this outrageous. Not to mention €4.80 for cake that tastes worse than defrosted supermarket cake and bone-dry, cold pseudo-waffles with powdered sugar (OK, it didn't say on the menu that they were hot) for a whopping €5 - that won't happen again, because we won't be coming back here.

A wonderful, old-fashioned café/restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of space, good food, and good service. A destination for all ages. Prices are absolutely reasonable. A little paradise for hikers who want to start their tour here or end it with a relaxing coffee, for example.

A beautiful house idyllically situated in the forest. We enjoyed a generous and delicious Bergisches Kaffee coffee with five adults and two small children. The children had a great time in the small play area. Very friendly, personal, and child-friendly service. Highly recommended.

On September 21, 2025, I ordered a Bergisch coffee table for 10 people in the Zillertal to celebrate a milestone birthday. If you'd like to enjoy a Bergisch coffee table with delicious, fresh ingredients in a traditional Bergisch atmosphere, the Zillertal is highly recommended. Of course, you need to pre-order well in advance and make a brief appointment with the host, Mr. Kürten, who is happy to accommodate his guests' wishes. And so, the table prepared for us was beautifully decorated, with the Droppelminna sitting atmospherically in the middle. A cozy corner of the restaurant was reserved just for us, so that our lively toddler could indulge his urge to move around without disturbing other guests. Mr. Kürten regularly asked if anyone needed anything else. But everything was perfect: the marble cake, the delicious black bread, the freshly prepared waffles, the warm rice pudding, the thickly sliced ​​cheese, the ham. All my guests were completely satisfied. Memories of past experiences in the Zillertal Valley were shared, and how wonderful it was that we—now much older—were able to experience such a wonderful time together in the Zillertal. At the end, everyone was able to order a Bergisch schnapps, although the guests preferred the Greek ouzo. There was really nothing to complain about, quite the opposite. As they left, each guest repeated how wonderful the afternoon had been. And the price for this perfect Bergisch coffee table was extremely fair.

A beautiful forest restaurant dating back to 1904, the ambiance is charming and evocative of the good old days. The service was excellent, always friendly, and the guests were always welcome to chat. The food was good, home-style and very tasty, and the prices are reasonable and justified for the increased costs, especially since they use high-quality, fresh produce. I can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience and would gladly dine there again.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. The place has clearly seen better days. The food wasn't appetizing and was far too expensive. It's a shame, the location itself had potential.

A truly wonderful local, restaurant, and café. A great starting point for many beautiful walks. The food is absolutely delicious and prepared with love. Huge pieces of cuisine that make your mouth water just by looking at them. Great salads with tasty dressings. Very friendly and attentive service. But that also comes at a fair price. We're already planning to come back.

The location is great, nestled in the Gelpetal valley. However, I find the prices excessive. Service was excellent. 👍 The building is a bit dated.

A very nice restaurant, surrounded by greenery. A family business that serves its guests with passion and warmth. The barbecue evenings are simply fantastic. The dishes are, of course, prepared by hand. After a long walk, the Haus Zillertal is the perfect place to relax.

Not good at all! You have to wait almost 20 minutes before you're even served and given the menu, and only after you ask. Another 15-minute wait before our order could be taken. Then the cold drinks and waffles arrived, and the coffee took a while. Only after we pointed out again after 15 minutes that the hot drinks were missing did the coffee arrive. Main course: Absolutely outrageous! I ordered schnitzel with fried potatoes. When the food arrived, I told him my order (I suspect it was the manager). He cheekily replied, "You won't get fried potatoes from me, I've forbidden them." The crowning glory was: the schnitzel was tough when cold, almost impossible to cut, the fat just oozes out!! The fries tasted old (tough) even cold! (In all three dishes) Well, I'll give it another chance. I tried the cake. It tasted old too, it took on the metallic taste of the cake pan. The cake was bone dry in the mouth! Unfortunately, an absolute no-go! We definitely won't be back! The price/performance ratio is absolutely not right!!!

My steak was dry, the fries were dry, and the salad was not good. The value for money was not good, and the prices were not justified. It's a shame, because the atmosphere is very nice.

Unfortunately, the Bergisch coffee table for around €30 per person wasn't good today. The waffles were really hard (from the day before?), the crust was crumbling and not fresh. The ham and cheese platter was okay. Unfortunately, we couldn't take the leftover cake with us in a package. Apparently, it's an EU regulation that the kitchen isn't allowed to package it for takeaway. We can't do that at other restaurants (pizzerias, no problem; even good restaurants have no problem with this). Packing up leftovers to take home is a shame; that will be the last time we're in the Zillertal.

The rustic and exceptionally authentic ambiance alone invites you to enjoy a cozy meal. The menu leaves nothing to be desired, and you'll still find good old-fashioned delicacies here. Everything we've eaten here so far, including steaks, spare ribs, schnitzel, fried potatoes, and more, has been incredibly delicious, and the friendly gentleman who served us and brought us our snacks stayed for a chat. It's one of the few truly good restaurants left, run with passion, so we'll be back this weekend. Only the cutlet was extremely dry, and the portion of fries was too small for the price.

A beautiful beer garden in the middle of the forest where you can relax after a walk and quench your thirst and hunger. The staff are friendly and even laugh with you :) The nice thing is that dogs are allowed! The food is great and filling, too. The ice cream is debatable, but I don't think it's homemade. I haven't tried the cake yet, but I will. I'm already looking forward to my next visit 😁

We stopped here after a hiking tour and were very satisfied. Very friendly staff, and the XXL chop was exceptionally good and very juicy. We'd love to come back.

We wanted to have a Bergisch coffee – we had to register... the bread and cake were dry, some of them bone dry! We paid almost €100 and really regretted the whole thing.

It's always been recommendable. But unfortunately, the atmosphere is fading. I really hope it recovers; I really enjoy being there.

Pretty delicious ribs and XXL cutlet! Yes, as other commentators have already written - the price is not without its price. But for us it was absolutely worth it, it was very tasty and the service was really, really nice! We sat in the beer garden and it was wonderful. The one point deduction is for the somewhat creepy, poorly lit basement toilets with the incredibly loud banging door.

How can you be so lame? The waiter is chatting with people at the other table and people at the other tables are waiting for service... After waiting for 20 minutes we left..

Not so much, a traditional location with 1960s stuffiness and worn-out furnishings. Too bad!

We were there for the schnitzel buffet. There were home-fried pork schnitzels with 6 different sauces. Pepper sauce, mustard sauce, paprika sauce, garlic sauce, cheese sauce and hunter's sauce. Unfortunately, the sauces were probably not homemade but rather ready-made sauces. That for 23.90 euros! There was also a salad buffet, unfortunately without dressing. The ambience was very tired and would appreciate a refresh. The service was ok, but there is still room for improvement here too.

It's really great to go for a walk. The café is decorated in a slightly older style, which looks nice. Unfortunately the prices there are very steep. If the prices were lowered a little, perhaps more guests would come.

It was wonderful to go for a walk in the forest, especially after the refreshment (waffles and cocoa). The house has a very good location and offers many delicacies.

Hochwertiger, handgemachter Brunch. Kein Convenience Food, wirklich gute Küche von Roastbeaf über Entenbrust bis hausgemachtem Nachtisch. 3 warme Gerichte, davon eines vegetarisch. Sehr aufmerksames Personal, insbesondere der wirbelte Chef. Saßen mit einer Gruppe nie vor leeren Tassen oder abgefutterten Teller. Ambiente etwas älter, aber gut in Schuss. Sehr Hundefreundlich. Reichlich kostenlose Parkplätze und ein großes Wanderwegenetz im Gelpetal direkt am Haus. Wir kommen wieder!

Great Sunday brunch! I was looking for a handmade brunch for a while and found it here. Other buffets offer ready-made food, here everything is done in the kitchen. It's really worth the money, as the dishes such as roast beef, duck breast, mini burgers or the warm dishes etc. are homemade and the drinks such as coffee are included in the price. Top service! Attentive bosses and groups never sit in front of empty glasses or eaten plates for long. Only the ambience is slightly out of date. The narrow access road into the valley is offset by a great network of hiking trails directly behind the house. A real recommendation, we'll be back. Be sure to reserve in advance!

Very cozy restaurant with German cuisine and fresh homemade dishes. Typically Bergisches Land with fresh waffles, hot cherries and vanilla ice cream and cream. There is also a nice beer garden if it gets warmer again at some point. :)

Were there for Christmas brunch. Nice welcome, plenty of choice, good taste. Some of the food plates were missing a label about what they were about. The location is beautiful, the restaurant has antique charm but unfortunately the furniture is worn out.

Quaint restaurant or café with a delicious menu. Perfect for a stop during a hike. But you can also arrive by car and park on site. We received very friendly service and would be happy to come back.

Preise viel zu hoch. Wir wunderten uns bereits bei der Bestellung über die Preise. Aber nun waren wir da. 1 Waffel mit Kirschen und Sahne 9,10 €. Da habe ich geschmacklich schon was gutes erwartet. Die Waffel war recht klein, durchschnittlich im Geschmack. Die Kirschen konnte man zählen, es war mehr geklumpte Gelatine. Da waren wir zum letzten Mal.

Nach einem wunderschönen Herbstspaziergang kehrten wir in das tolle Fachwerkhaus ein und fragten uns noch warum waren wir so lange nicht mehr hier? Wir bestellten eine Cola , ein kleines Bier Weißwurst mit Sauerkraut und ein Kinderschnitzel mit Pommes. Naja für insgesamt 40€ kann man sich ja was erwarten, so der Gedanke ,die Realität sah leider anders aus . Ein Kinderschnitzel in einem witzigen Teller mit Mausohren , in dem rechts und links Majonaise und Ketchup eingefüllt wurden ( es wurde von meiner Frau bei der Bestellung abgewählt) , das Schnitzel gut gewürzt und gebraten ca. 70 g , schlechte TK Pommes die versalzen waren , Kosten 12,80 € . Das Paar Weißwürsstchen trocken in einem Schälchen mit Wirtshausgarnitur ( Blattsalat , Cocktailtomate und Petersilie) auf einem Teller serviert auf dem sich dann das wirklich schmackhafte Sauerkraut und der süße Senf ( im Schälchen) befand - kosten Weißwurst 10,80 € +Sauerkraut 5,50€+Senf 1,20€ =17,50€ ! Noch zu erwähnen, ja klar auf der „Speisekarte“ so aufgeführt- aber die Erwartungshaltung war dann dementsprechend! Jetzt wissen wir auf jeden Fall wieder, warum wir dort jahrelang nicht mehr waren! Ich bin selber vom Fach und im Vertrieb für die Lebensmittel Industrie tätig, so führt man einen guten Gastronomischen Betrieb jedenfalls nicht ! Sehr schade tolle Gegend , schöner Laden, viel Potenzial das einfach nicht abgeschöpft wird , nur von einmal besuchen wird dieser Betrieb nicht dauerhaft überleben können. Schade !

After a great walk past the dam. We had a really good time in the Café Restaurant Haus Zillertal. The atmosphere was really rustic and you immediately felt at home. Would come there again. The waffles and coffee tasted good. The service was good.

The pinnacle of exorbitant prices! Schnitzel Viennese style, without salad €24.80. The salad costs an extra 4.90. Packing something (the rest to take with you) is not possible. Have no packaging, not even a piece of aluminum foil. One can only advise against it.

Yes, the location is fantastic and you can also spend a wonderful time on the garden terrace. However, the quality and portions of the food have decreased significantly in the context of the sharply increased prices. If you order a small steak, you pay around €40 for it with a frozen cap of herb butter, onions, mini salad and 5 slices of roasted potatoes plus 2 small beers, which is steep. This is exactly what happened to us twice. Exactly this meal x 2 people = €88.00!!! We might come back for a coffee, but definitely not for dinner. Too bad. We have been guests for over 50 years.

We sat outside after walking the dog. Everything was good.

We felt very well looked after there, the service was very nice and funny, the food was very good. The only negative thing to note is that the website is outdated. Some of the food on the website is not available, the mini golf course has been closed since 2021.

Nice surroundings but the food is way too expensive for what it is. Paying €4.40 for a small Kölsch and €6 for a wheat beer is really absurd. It's a shame because of the great location, it could be much better.

The location is unique, the food, endive salad with bratwurst, is very tasty. The beer garden is also great, inside there is nostalgia from the 80s. The map is clear but there is something for everyone.

Very good food. Dogs are allowed and our dog even got water (outside in the heat). Service very nice. But prices are not cheap.

Nice restaurant in nature. Clear menu of dishes on offer. In my opinion the price-performance ratio doesn't fit. It's crazy for the court of heaven and um to increase 21.80 euros. The prices for the other dishes were roughly the same. Just my opinion, overpriced. It was the first and last visit for me. We had the Bergische Tafel. Well, for the price, hmmm not a positive comment.

I give the one star for the homepage. The beer garden was once again fully occupied today. We wanted to sit inside for the umpteenth time, but were rudely asked to go outside again because only the outdoor dining area was open due to staff shortages. We celebrated our daughter's holy baptism there a few days ago. The food, service and ambience exceeded our expectations. The planning was also great. Our wishes and ideas were implemented perfectly. All guests were more than thrilled. We'd love to come back!

Unverschämter geht es nicht. Bei zwei Telefonaten wurde einfach mittendrin aufgelegt. Absolute Frechheit! Da ruft man vorher an, um sich freundlich zu erkundigen, ob heute Bergische Kaffeetafel für vier Personen möglich wäre und man wird wie lästige Schmeißfliegen behandelt. Auf der Homepage ist ersichtlich, dass das Angebot besteht. Im Telefonat heißt es “Theoretisch möglich”, worauf ich frug, was das konkret bedeute. Die Dame am Telefon antwortete pampig, dass die Kaffeetafel nur Tischweise möglich sei. Als ich dann sagte, dass wir uns dann jetzt auf den Weg zum Lokal machen, legte die unfreundliche Dame einfach auf. Also habe ich noch einmal zurückgerufen, um festzustellen ob das ein Missverständnis war. Als klar wurde, dass dies kein Missverständnis gewesen ist und sich versucht wurde, trocken mit dem Satz “Hier ist Betrieb” auf meine Nachfrage hin herauszureden, habe ich entgegnet, dass wir nun nicht mehr zu ihnen kommen. Dann wurde ERNEUT einfach aufgelegt. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt!!! Meine bisherigen Erfahrungen im überteuerten Haus Zillertal waren bislang jedes Mal negativ und jedes Mal hoffte ich auf Besserung. Das war die letzte Chance, die diese ungastliche Unverschämtheit und Tourifalle bekommen hat.

Wir hatten am Pfingstwochenende Verwandtschaft aus Hessen und RLP zu Besuch, der wir zu Weihnachten eine "echte Bergische Kaffeetafel" versprochen hatten. Ein paar Wochen vorher habe ich also für 7 Personen eben diese gebucht, im Haus Zillertal, weil ich das Ambiente so hübsch finde und wir im Anschluss noch spazieren gehen wollten. Wir wurden auch freundlich empfangen, es war hübsch eingedeckt und auf dem Tisch stand eine Dröppelminna. Diese allerdings nur als Deko, der Kaffee wurde in Thermoskannen gebracht. Dann wurde eine Platte mit Schwarzbrot, Rosinenstuten, Kastenkuchen, Scheibenkäse, Schinken und Leberwurst gebracht -- von allem gab es genau 7 Stück. Eine Schale Milchreis, eine mit Sahne und eine mit warmen Kirschen standen bereit. Dann wurden noch 7 Waffeln mit Puderzucker gebracht. Wenn denn diese Auswahl zumindest frisch gewesen wäre, hätte ich mich zwar gewundert, hätte es aber wahrscheinlich hingenommen. Aber: das Schwarzbrot kam aus der Packung und war scheinbar aufgetaut, der Rosinenstuten war so trocken, dass man ihn kaum runterbekam, der Kuchen schmeckte alt und war ebenfalls total trocken, die Waffeln waren kalt und hart (aufgetaut?). Als ich nach ein-zwei weiteren Scheiben Brot fragte, wurden uns zwei Scheiben gebracht, die offensichtlich schnell im Toaster defrosted worden waren. Ich frage mich wirklich, wieso ich überhaupt vorgebucht habe, wenn es sowieso keinerlei frischen Lebensmittel gibt. Zu allem Überfluss kostet eine solche Frechheit auch noch knapp 29€ pro Person!! Wer auch immer einmal ganz heimatverbunden eine Bergische Kaffeetafel genießen möchte, sollte dafür auf keinen Fall das Haus Zillertal wählen. Mir war der ganze Aufenthalt vor unseren Gästen äußerst peinlich. Definitiv nie wieder!

We had ordered the Bergische Kaffeetafel for seven people (a good 3 weeks in advance - so we would have had enough time to plan). It was also very pretty and the staff was very friendly. Coffee came in thermos flasks, for everyone there was a (!) slice of brown bread, raisin cakes (quite dry), cake (also dry) and a waffle (which wasn't fresh from the waffle iron either). For bread there was cheese, ham, liver sausage and butter. There were plenty of hot cherries and admittedly delicious rice pudding. When we asked for more bread, three slices of brown bread that had been thawed (in the toaster) were brought. For the price of €29 per person, I would have at least expected the things to be fresh. Since we had invited guests who came from further away, I was downright embarrassed by the process? Where else can you get food that is so obviously thawed? The service was friendly, so I don't want to give just one star overall. But I cannot and will not recommend the Bergische Kaffeetafel to anyone. It's a shame about all that money...

It couldn't be more outrageous. Two phone calls just hung up in the middle. Absolute impudence! You call in advance to ask politely whether a Bergische coffee table for four people would be possible today and you are treated like annoying bluebottles. You can see on the homepage that the offer exists. In the phone call it was said “Theoretically possible”, to which I asked what that meant specifically. The lady on the phone replied bluntly that the coffee table was only possible table by table. When I said that we were now on our way to the restaurant, the unfriendly lady simply hung up. So I called back again to see if this was a misunderstanding. When it became clear that this wasn't a misunderstanding and they tried to excuse me dryly with the phrase “It's busy here” when I asked, I replied that we wouldn't be coming to them anymore. Then they just hung up AGAIN. I have never experienced something like that!!! My previous experiences in the overpriced Haus Zillertal have always been negative and each time I hoped for improvement. That was the last chance this inhospitable impudence and tourist trap got.

We were there for brunch on Sunday. The buffet was very varied and of good quality. The service was also friendly.

Service underground, but the price was gigantic... per person 29.-- Recommendation Bergische Kaffeetafel in Ritterfall and Schloss Burg, as a comparison...! That's why we came from the Moselle and friends had invited us.

We visited the restaurant in spring 2024 to eat the “Bergische Kaffeetafel”: The Bergische Kaffeetafel costs around €28 per person, so it's not exactly cheap. It is practical that you can get the coffee table without pre-ordering - this is not the case everywhere. The mare and the cake seemed a bit like it had been thawed. Maybe this isn't otherwise spontaneously possible, but given the price it's still a bit of a shame. The rice pudding was cold - a matter of taste, but also an indication of a lack of freshness. The service was very friendly and accommodating, which was very pleasant. The ambience in the middle of the forest was also very good.

Ordered coffee and cake. Cake didn't come. Complained after 30 minutes. Waited another 15 minutes. Cake didn't come again. Neighboring tables that came later were served. After we spoke to the waiter again, he said it was our problem. A pity....

Just wonderful. Food and service was on point. The Jägerschnitzel is highly recommended 👍

Pork Jägerschnitzel with small salad and mayonnaise €26.90. Ambience musty from the 80s/90s. Service partially forgot the order and reacted rudely to complaints.

The owner seems to want to remind guests of the tradition behind the name Haus Zillertal with lots of pictures and knick-knacks. All well and good but the food and service no longer seem to have the aim of promoting the restaurant's good name. No, the food was loveless and devoid of ideas. The Monday menu wasn't valid on Mondays because people probably thought it was Sunday (unfortunately it wasn't an April Fool's joke). The wild garlic soup (which was on the menu) from their own garden wasn't available either, but carrot soup was offered. All in all, Haus Zillertal has lost a lot of quality and standard. No fresh flowers, just semi-skilled service staff and boring dishes. The schnitzel was the best part of the whole visit. We won't be coming back again. I expressly do not rate the nationally known breakfast here!

We went there for brunch with the family today. We thought it was great. Great selection at the buffet and incredibly nice service. We were very satisfied and are looking forward to better weather so we can come again. Then the children can even play outside by the stream :-) The furnishings are not modern, but rustic and yet cozy. The location and surroundings are very special.

We were there for brunch on Easter Sunday. Nothing was left to be desired, the buffet is extensive and of very good quality, and an extensive range of fish was also offered. The warm food also offered something for every taste (fish and meat) and was also very good in terms of taste and quality. The attentive and good service rounded off the visit positively. Overall, the restaurant is highly recommended.

Today we went to the Zillertal for Easter brunch for the second time. We are thrilled this year too!🤩 Our “little” dog had a box seat and a bowl of water. The extremely friendly staff made our time sweeter. And the variety and richness of the dishes cannot be beaten. Thank you for your service. We will book a barbecue event next 🎉

Excellent home cooked food that exceeded our expectations. We were unsure about the additional side salad for €5.90, which seemed expensive to us but with lentils, cabbage and beetroot it was worth every penny. The food in general is quite expensive, but the quality is above average. The drinks are simply overpriced: €7 for a large apple juice spritzer. The service was very professional but very busy so we had to wait a little longer. It's good, but at these prices it should be *****Wow **** Really good *** Good **Did not meet expectations * bad

Historic house in a great location in the middle of the forest. Was only there for a quick coffee break.
