Hello, I have Down syndrome. And I work here in this restaurant. Sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes in the service department. We look forward to your visit.

We wanted brunch – they only served breakfast, without any notice. Two breakfasts and a pot of coffee = €64. The staff was attentive and friendly. There's still room for improvement regarding the breakfast selection.

Hello everyone, we went for brunch on Sunday and were very disappointed. They only served breakfast, and there was no sign of the hot meal that brunch is supposed to be. The price of €22.90 without coffee was way too expensive for breakfast. There were eight of us, and we all agreed we'd never go back.

A very nice and appealing buffet left us completely satisfied today. Attentive and friendly staff perfectly rounded off our two-hour visit; after a very good lunch experience six weeks ago, the brunch was also completely convincing. We'd be happy to return.

This rating is based on the lack of lunch. For the advertised brunch price, only breakfast is included. I consider this fraudulent. The operator advertises and sells a service (€22.90) that is not provided.

Today we waited for the waiter for more than 40 minutes. Now we're waiting for our order. I don't know how long. 😂

Delicious food in a great location

We took a day trip to the Müngsten Bridge and stopped off at Haus Müngsten. From the restaurant, you have a direct view of the Wupper River and are surrounded by nature. Today, we had a delicious slice of apple pie with cream and a latte macchiato. A good choice, because we were not disappointed. Everything was satisfactory and clean. Perhaps we'll see each other next time... see you then.

We celebrated our wedding here. We were completely satisfied. From the organization to the execution, it was perfect. We rented the entire upper floor and didn't regret it. The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly, competent, child-friendly, and animal-loving. Our guests were also completely happy. The value for money was also very good. We booked the wedding package and I would book it again. The only drawback was the temperature; the house isn't built without air conditioning. But the owners can't do anything about that. Many thanks to Haus Müngsten! This won't be the last time we celebrate there!

A beautifully located new building, right on the river with a beautiful panoramic view, including the historic bridge. We were there for brunch. The food ranged from delicious to overly salty (grilled vegetables). Considering that everything here is organized through Lebenshilfe, you get a different perspective on everything. The service staff were consistently friendly and tried very hard to fulfill all requests. With a little patience, you'll feel very comfortable here. One drawback is that there is no parking.

Ulli was one of the best waiters I ever had! He did such a great job and was friendly and respectful all the way!!! He was alone all night but we didn’t even notice cause he was there every time we needed him

Super delicious food and exceptionally good value for money. We had four different meals and were very satisfied 😊 Even though it was incredibly busy, everything went quite quickly and the waitresses were friendly.

Was here two weeks ago. The food (schnitzel with fries) was great, and the service was friendly. We also tried the waffles and have to give them excellent feedback. We'd be happy to go back.

Good food and drinks after a nice hike

We were there for brunch on Saturday. There were plenty of hot dishes available. And there was also a good selection at breakfast. I didn't think the rolls were that great, but the rest was excellent. All in all, a pleasant visit with a beautiful view.

We had made a reservation for brunch in advance, and upon arrival, we stood in the entrance for five minutes without anyone feeling responsible for greeting us. The food was delicious, with a large selection of cold cuts, various rolls and croissants, as well as raw vegetables and salad. Later, the buffet also offered hot main courses. There were a few bowls next to the rolls; it would have been helpful to label them so we knew what was in them. We also ordered a drink, which didn't arrive for 20 minutes, so we decided to pay and leave. Unfortunately, we weren't that impressed with the ambiance; the wooden tables had very heavy wear on the surface. Alternatively, we would recommend using tablecloths instead of placemats. We also had hair on the rolls, as well as lint in our food. When using the restroom, we noticed that the sink was very dusty and dirty around the edge. The windows were covered in cobwebs, so many that they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in at least 10 years. A spider was also crawling around on the table decoration.

After waiting for half an hour, a very unfriendly waitress came and took our order. A few minutes later, our drinks arrived. The Coke was almost deflated, but the beer was fine. Another 10 minutes later, we were told that the burger we had each ordered was no longer available. So we chose a different dish (schnitzel with fries and mayo). Another 30 minutes later, the food arrived. Unfortunately, the schnitzel and the sauce were only lukewarm to cold. The fries weren't cooked properly and were just as lukewarm to cold as the schnitzel. The only thing that was okay was the mayo, although it was also packaged in a small sachet. Almost all of the waiters and waitresses were overwhelmed, even though there were enough on site. Conclusion: 1 star and not recommended. Nevertheless, the location is very inviting, and you have a beautiful view of the Müngsten Bridge.

The staff was extremely unfriendly. After repeatedly asking if someone could take my order, the staff became rude and seemed completely overwhelmed. I wouldn't visit the restaurant again.

Never again. Unfortunately, you can't really call it service. The staff ignores you for a long time before someone even takes responsibility. It's complete chaos, and the food is reheated frozen food. The staff roll their eyes and are obviously overwhelmed.

The food was rather average. The view is beautiful if you get the right seat. Unfortunately, the service really spoiled the experience: inattentive, unfriendly, and chaotic. We were ignored for a long time, the staff argued in front of the guests, and finally, the wrong dish arrived – and it was cold, to boot.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food yet, but the coffee was definitely delicious. The staff was also very friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Once and never again 😡 The place was complete chaos. We waited 70 minutes, and then 5 of 12 orders arrived, all of them wrong. Five people left without even getting their food or drinks. When we cautiously asked the staff at the counter, we were insulted... I have a lot of sympathy for people with disabilities, but this restaurant is simply a disaster! No thanks!!

Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We had reserved for the Saturday brunch at 11:00 a.m. Although the buffet officially runs until 1:00 p.m., most items were already empty when we arrived, and they hadn't refilled them at all. The selection was generally very meager: a small bowl of potato salad, a small bowl of pasta salad, and hardly any sausage or cheese. The hot food was more like a cafeteria meal, so absolutely nothing special. Definitely not recommended for the price per person and the long journey. We were looking forward to a nice brunch, but were sadly disappointed.

A really nice place. The menu looked great, too. I would have loved to invite my little family there for dinner today. But unfortunately, we weren't served, even though I called for attention several times. After about 30-45 minutes, we left.

A bland restaurant with steep prices and nothing really special. It’s part of a rock climbing organization, if I’m not mistaken. Service was okay, although the managers came off as rather grumpy. The biggest issue was the complete lack of atmosphere, it just didn’t feel welcoming.

Unfortunately, a disastrous experience – never again After a long hike, we were looking forward to a good meal and a cold beer. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. The restaurant was full, but the team was completely overwhelmed – it was chaotic, no one had clear responsibilities, and there was no structure whatsoever. We waited OVER 40 MINUTES for our drinks without anyone approaching us or informing us. When we asked about the food, we were either ignored or fobbed off. Other guests who arrived long after us were served much faster. After OVER 70 MINUTES, our food finally arrived – and it was wrong. Instead of the two vegan and two regular schnitzels we ordered, we were served four regular ones. The worst part: it was frozen, tasted disappointing, and the quality was barely better than what you heat up from a package at home. A friend only received his side dish, not the main course he ordered. Only after repeated requests was this corrected – thanks to David, the only competent employee that day. David was friendly, helpful, and at least tried to salvage the situation. He apologized several times and offered a schnitzel "on the house" (he had discussed this with his superiors beforehand). But the supposed head waitress wanted to charge us later anyway. Even worse, she indirectly blamed the chaos on a disabled employee – SIMPLY SICK, especially because this young man seemed significantly more committed than she was. The bottom line: ignorance, chaos, bad food, and unprofessional behavior across the board. We owe the few positive moments to a single employee – but the overall impression was so negative that we certainly won't be coming back.

Impressive location in a magical spot in the heart of the Bergisches Land region. Highly recommended.

We had read the bad reviews, but thought it couldn't be that bad. It was. It took us about 30 minutes and several waiters to get our drinks, around 20 extra minutes to be able to order our food and 1h10 (at that point we were timing our orders) to get our food. We had ordered 4 schnitzel, 2 vegan and 2 regular. After 1h10 only 3 of the 4 schnitzel arrived, and none of them were vegan. This perhaps doesn't sound as bad, but to add, waiters constantly ignored us, our questions, belittled our efforts to, at the very least, get what we ordered and waited for, and the saddest part was that there was one very friendly and helpful waiter, David, whom's first interaction with us was bringing the incorrect orders, and after explaining the problem he said he'll be back after asking in the kitchen, which he did almost immediately, apologized, and in only 10 minutes (remember getting drinks and food took us around 2h) came back with the missing Schnitzel. Sadly another waitress, older and looked as the manager, only belittled his efforts and our only positive interaction, kept dismissing the guy and thus our other questions, and was very impolite to him, and us. David took the time and sympathy to come back and apologize for the meals, even talking to the kitchen to get us one of the Schnitzel's for free, even though as stated before, he was not our waiter or in charge of our table. I would like to say this was the end of it, but it wasn't. The older waitress, now the cashier, tried several time to get someone to pay for the Schnitzel, by adding it to the addition of the next paying person, and getting angry when said person noted that their bill was more expensive than it should be.

Not recommended! We wanted to give the restaurant a chance despite the countless negative reviews. Unfortunately, the restaurant is definitely not recommended. - The staff was not very friendly. - Extremely long wait times (45 minutes for drinks, 70 minutes for food) - Drinks not filled to the mark - Meat schnitzel was served instead of the vegan version, and an entire dish was forgotten and then delivered incorrectly. - Criticism was more or less dismissed and ignored. - Inquiries were also ignored, so we ended up going inside to pay because we didn't want to wait that long again. Only one young employee was very concerned about guest satisfaction! However, he was interrupted by his supervisor because "everything was fine, and then he had obviously made the mistake." (This wasn't the case!!!!) This particularly shocked us because the restaurant advertises its inclusion program (through Lebenshilfe Solingen), yet the employees involved receive so little appreciation and are even blamed for other employees' mistakes. A very poor performance. Simply disappointing.

Except for the one male server (David), the staff was quite unfriendly. As mentioned in other comments, the wait time was far too long: We had to wait 30 minutes for drinks and almost 1 hour 30 minutes for the food. When the food finally arrived, parts of our order were missing.

The food is great and the staff is friendly. It could be a little cheaper, but that's probably due to the location.

It looks really nice at first glance, but the service was really bad. It wasn't very busy, but it took a really long time for someone to come. Only one person could take orders, and that person was the one who paid. Two servers distributed the orders. We had to ask/request payment four times. The people next to us left after 30 minutes and repeated requests to order. And then to be so rude and unfriendly to the customers is really unacceptable.

We ordered the tarte flambée on site. Unfortunately, it was rather poorly prepared. The Alsatian tarte flambée had raw, thick onions on it, and the ham seemed more steamed than fried. The dough was dry, and 2-3 cm of the edge had no topping at all. For around €15, it was unfortunately quite disappointing.

We only had a drink. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I was very disappointed when I discovered that the "bread dumplings" were just dumplings (from an instant pot?). The service staff generally seemed disorganized and listless. Given the prices (e.g., over €11 for a currywurst with fries and mayo), this is quite annoying.

We were there on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. It wasn't busy. Nevertheless, we weren't served. We left the restaurant after 20 minutes.

The staff is always friendly, even if they sometimes seem a bit overwhelmed. Everyone puts in a lot of effort. The food is always delicious.

We were here on Sunday early afternoon. The waitress skillfully ignored us and only responded after several questions. We had curry fries, a tarte flambée with bacon and onions, and one fries with ketchup. After 20 minutes, we got our drinks. After another 30 minutes, the food arrived. The waffle was cold and soggy. The fries were cold, and the curry sauce was very runny. The tarte flambée was cold, and the bacon and onions were mushy and cold. Even the truly beautiful surroundings couldn't make up for it. We definitely won't be coming back.

Great service in a pleasant atmosphere. The waitresses were very friendly and cheerful. I can't comment on the food, as I only had (very good) coffee. The menu is restaurant-style, and the food served all around looked good.

I was there as a photographer for a small wedding party. It was a very beautiful location with a variety of subject options.

The chairs on the terrace are unfortunately very uncomfortable and could definitely use a seat cushion. The two very young waitresses unfortunately have absolutely no idea what friendliness or guest satisfaction means. The drinks we ordered were both only averagely cold, and the food really wasn't that good. The currywurst with fries was still reasonably good, but given the ambiance and the prices, it's inappropriate to include a portion of mayonnaise in a cheap-looking sachet. The tomato-mozzarella tarte flambée, for a mere €16 (!), was one-third inedible because the crust was simply hard and dry. The advertised basil pesto that came with it was a small dollop of what was certainly not homemade and tasted like a cheap pesto. To make matters worse, the wooden board on which the food was served was already disintegrating. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the waitress, she looked at me, said "yes," and walked away. This is definitely not how you treat paying guests! The store could really be a gem in this location, but right now it's just disappointing...

We were there on a holiday (Thursday). The staff was very disorganized and unfriendly. It took forever to order, but our ice cream and Diet Coke came quickly. The ice cream was average (it's not an ice cream parlor, so it was okay) - but the Coke was really disgusting. The carbonation was nonexistent, and the drink was lukewarm. It tasted like it had been sitting around for weeks. The only nice thing was the ambiance. This will be our last visit there. As mentioned in other reviews, the prices are ridiculously high. We spent almost €30 on two ice creams and two large Cokes.

The cake here is quite good at €3.95 each. The drink prices are too high in our opinion: €3.10 for a cup of coffee, €5.95 for a pot of coffee, and €6.90 for a 0.5L beer. The service is quick and friendly.

It was Friday afternoon and relatively quiet, so unfortunately, the employee completely ignored us. She walked past us several times, serving visitors who arrived after us. She obviously wasn't too busy. After a while, we left.

We were there as guests at a wedding. The venue was unkempt, the windows dirty, and even the interior glass had been touched and not cleaned. You could tell this hadn't been happening for a long time. But the worst thing was... Only being able to open two doors in over 30 degrees Celsius with over 60 guests in the entire venue is one thing. The ventilation was broken (it's been broken for years), there's no air conditioning, and they provided two small room fans. Not even portable air conditioners!!! The staff tried very hard but were also pretty exhausted due to the heat. The food was mediocre at best.

Staff GREAT! Location: WELL! We were guests at a wedding, making it our first time at this venue. The venue initially seemed messy and unkempt. With temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celsius, only one of the two doors on the upper floor could be opened, and the ventilation system was apparently broken (according to other guests, this was also the case at a wedding two years ago). What deserves praise is the staff! The team of Ulrich, Beate, Hilal, and Hannah really gave their all and a little more! We have rarely felt so comfortable and were so warmly looked after. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Unfortunately, disappointing The visit was overall very disappointing. The drinks were brought incorrectly, and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The goulash soup arrived ice cold and tasted absolutely awful. The mushroom schnitzel was made with canned mushrooms and was completely tasteless. One meal arrived long after everyone else had finished eating – very unpleasant. The prices were far too high for the quality. The view of the bridge was actually the best part of the evening.

The view and the place are so beautiful! The forest, the river also suitable for children. But the restaurant doesn't fit into the beautiful place. The chef was sweating while serving and smelled of sweat and a deep fryer. The operations are - although enough - completely uncoordinated and haphazard. Our food was forgotten. The salad we ordered wasn't worth the 17 euros... What a shame. As a tip: for drinks there is a great little kiosk a few meters away.

The ambience of the restaurant was undoubtedly appealing and promised an enjoyable evening. The disappointment was even greater when the food was served: my chicken strips in mushroom cream sauce were an imposition. Watery, tasteless, cold and so carelessly prepared that you wondered whether the chef actually enjoys his job. There was no trace of sophistication here, not only was there a lack of craftsmanship, but also of passion. Perhaps the kitchen should seriously consider whether it would be better to turn to another profession. It's a shame about the nice atmosphere. I would do it better with my left hand!

We were there for Easter brunch and were lucky enough to get a table on the upper floor. The view was sensational and the bright room, which seemed open thanks to the windows, made it perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The buffet was very clear and of mediocre quality. Except the desserts, which tasted very good. But since coffee, water, juice and sparkling wine were included in the price, the price was okay.

Haus Müngsten is actually a nice place for a little nightcap after a hike. Great location and beautiful view. If it's normal for you to wait almost 45 minutes for a waiter, you've come to the right place at Haus Müngsten. If you also like being brushed off with the answer: "The colleague is coming soon" after several questions, you'll have a good time here. Great place!

Day trip to stop with delicious potato soup. Friendly staff, as you could hear lots of regulars. I'd love to come back!

Modern gastronomy in the shadow of what is still the highest iron bridge in Germany. We were there for brunch with a group of 20. Service was a bit slow but always friendly. Food was standard, but priced in the upper segment. You can sit well on the edge of the Wupper and, depending on where you sit, you have a nice view of the Müngstner Bridge. A restaurant that definitely benefits from its location and modern appearance. I will definitely go there again.

A very nice restaurant with friendly service

The Lebenshilfe and especially the employees are very friendly, helpful and this creates a very good atmosphere. In keeping with an excursion restaurant, the price-performance ratio on offer is very fair and of good quality.

After a tough hike, super fast and delicious food, what more could you want?

Very nicely located, but without normal parking spaces at the house. You have to park a little further down the street and walk to the restaurant. But it's not a bad thing in and of itself because it's really pretty here. Since we spontaneously stopped here for the Bergische Kaffeetafel (it was praised in older reviews), we were a little disappointed that we had to order it in advance. Instead we ate Geschnetzeltes (which was very good) and a tarte flambée with Camembert and cranberries (surprisingly with too much cheese on it and therefore too intense). Overall it was nice here, I can recommend it. :)

Wonderfully located on the Wupper (a river). The building is modern. Ideal for children. Dogs are welcome.

I have to say: tip top! In addition to the huge selection for brunch, where everything was always available, the service was really great! For just 19.90 euros, sparkling wine, coffee, breakfast and lunch and all of very good quality, really great! So a straight A from me and I would like to thank the service for the friendly and competent service!

Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good, the stews we ordered were no longer fresh or tasty. We can definitely not recommend the restaurant.

Today we were here for lunch with our granddaughter, and I have to say, today I was able to enjoy the restaurant with its service and food in a completely different way than I did 3 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised and I can recommend what we ate.

Ambience is really great! Food was OK. But today's waitress (female) was completely overwhelmed and so unfriendly to all the guests! We have rarely experienced something like that. Patty, friendly requests about food are answered with sentences like "I don't have time for that." Orders are accepted grumpily... the operators should take urgent action.

A very nice place with a large terrace and a beautiful view! ❤️ The staff is friendly and takes care of the customers' needs, and is also willing to have a short conversation :) We only drank a beer this time (the radler was first class 👌). But next time we will stop by for a bite to eat, encouraged by the sight of the dishes served! 😍 We will definitely come back, because it's worth it! Warm greetings to the very nice staff! ☺️☺️

After a long walk we stopped for coffee and waffles. The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly. Coffee and waffles came very quickly and lovingly prepared. Price was also great. The outside terrace is large and faces the water with a view of the Müngstner Bridge . just great👍🫶

The waitress wanted to prepare tea to take away, the boss intervened that that wasn't possible, without explanation. Not very flexible, poor customer service.

First and foremost a classic excursion restaurant. But beyond the masses it can do much more. The staff is friendly. But I prefer to be a guest there during the unpopular opening hours.

In my opinion, the inside of the restaurant doesn't live up to what it promises from the outside. My impressions only relate to the ground floor, which for me has a bit of a train station atmosphere. Even when not at full capacity, there is a lot of background noise. I don't like it but we wanted to try it out. The food was okay. The service makes a lot of effort. The price is actually within normal limits.

Just bad... after 20 minutes the first service person came to take the order... 25 minutes after the order only coffee came, we never saw the rest of the order waffles Employees ran around without coordination and sometimes served orders to the wrong table number. It's just ridiculous, even in countries where German wasn't spoken, I received friendlier, quicker and better service.

Wir waren gar nicht zufrieden....wir saßen 45 Minuten dann kam jemand um die Bestellung aufzunehmen ,wir bestellten Kaffee und Waffeln mit Sahne und Kirschen. Dann kam der Kaffee.....20 Minuten warten die Waffeln kamen immer noch nicht. Wir zahlten nur den Kaffee und sind verärgert gegangen. Keine Struktur die Bedienungen liefen Kreuz und quer .......Überwiegend wurde draußen Bedient...die Leute sind teilweise viel später gekommen.

If it's full it's better not to go. We waited over 20 minutes, no one came, the staff was totally underrated. Other customers from the next table warned us, but then unfortunately left without eating. Otherwise nice location, location absolutely fantastic.
