Last night, a colleague and I had dinner at the Öhlmühle restaurant in Hattersheim. It was our first visit, and we were thrilled. From the ambiance, which created a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere, to the incredibly friendly service, to the delicious food... everything was perfect. The price-performance ratio is absolutely justified. We will definitely be back.

We went there for a pleasant evening with 20 people to celebrate a birthday. The menu is concise, which is a good thing, as it allowed each dish to be prepared and presented with care. It also made it possible to serve all the dishes simultaneously. The service was always attentive and very friendly. It was a wonderful evening, and we're already planning our next visit.

The ambiance is chic, but everything else is just okay. Yes, everything has gotten more expensive, but the prices are really outrageous for the food. After the main course, you're not asked if you want anything else, only if you enjoyed your meal. You're simply ignored. The main thing is getting new customers to order something.

I visited the restaurant last week and was rather disappointed overall. It was extremely loud, like being right next to a train station. A pleasant conversation was almost impossible. I was particularly struck by an older waitress who spoke with a very loud voice. Because of the noise, it was impossible to really enjoy the experience. (What a shame.)

We celebrated our civil wedding at the Ölmühle – and it was simply perfect! From the initial planning meeting to the big day, everything was exceptionally well-organized. The team went above and beyond, catered to all our individual requests, and provided us with warm and professional support throughout. The menu was custom-designed to our specifications and delighted not only us but all our guests – the food was simply fantastic! The braised ox cheeks melted in our mouths. It was also a lovely touch that the menu was designed to match our invitations – a thoughtful detail that made the day even more special. The service was warm and attentive. The Ölmühle's ambiance is beautiful and provided the perfect cozy setting for our celebration. The value for money was also absolutely convincing. We wholeheartedly recommend the Ölmühle and would choose it again in a heartbeat!

I had high expectations based on the many positive reviews – unfortunately, I was disappointed. While the ambiance was sophisticated, the service was absolutely terrible. It's a shame; perhaps I was just unlucky that evening, but for me, the overall impression simply didn't match the many glowing reviews. Under these circumstances, a return visit is rather unlikely.

A warm smile, a friendly welcome, and attentive, helpful service were already a good sign for a successful evening. Adding to the charm, the ambiance of the historic walls, with the lights dimmed and candles lit, simply invited conviviality. The white wine was excellent, and the aperitif (also available as a non-alcoholic option for the designated driver) whetted our appetites for a delicious meal. We were not disappointed! The appetizer was divine and warmed us from the inside out. The main course was cooked to perfection, and the herb butter was simply divine. There was also plenty to satisfy those with a sweet tooth! Hello dear Ölmühlen team, My girlfriend and I had dinner at the "Lights Out and Candles On" event on Monday, November 17, 2025. The atmosphere was very beautiful and romantic thanks to the many lovely candles. We had a perfect table to ourselves and enjoyed a wonderful evening. The food was excellent; I highly recommend the pumpkin soup, and the beef fillet was also delicious and cooked to perfection. Many thanks to the kitchen for the wonderful meal. The service was very friendly, and we were very well looked after. I would definitely take my girlfriend to this excellent restaurant again. Thank you very much.

When my wife, our nine-month-old son, and I decided to pay the Ölmühle an unannounced visit—especially on an evening when a candlelight event was taking place—we secretly expected a polite refusal. But what happened next was emblematic of what makes this establishment so special: genuine hospitality. Despite the restaurant being full, they not only found a table for us but welcomed us with a warmth that has become rare in the restaurant industry. Family-friendliness, in particular, is not something you can take for granted everywhere—but here, it's truly lived. The menu, as well as the interior design, bears a clear signature: well-thought-out, harmonious, and stylish, without ever seeming contrived. You can tell that someone has created this space with passion. The personal highlight, however, is the service. It's these subtle, often understated gestures—a thoughtful glance, a personal word, unobtrusive care—that make an evening not just pleasant, but truly memorable. We felt completely pampered without it ever becoming intrusive. The cuisine was outstanding across the board. My steak was cooked to perfection. My wife's porcini risotto was creamy, aromatic, and elegantly composed. For us, the Ölmühle is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Hattersheim and the surrounding area—a place that demonstrates how successful gastronomy can be when quality, heart, and professionalism come together.

I was there with my family and was really looking forward to the goose. Unfortunately, I received the toughest goose leg of my life. When I complained, I was offered an espresso or a free dessert, but after that experience, I had no desire for either. It didn't occur to anyone to remove one of the drinks from the bill. In the end, I had to pay the full price. €44.50 for this experience was definitely too much. I will be avoiding this restaurant for the foreseeable future. A total of €140 down the drain. If the chef wants to know what a properly prepared goose/goose leg should be like, he can visit the Spechtshaardt restaurant near Aschaffenburg. I will be there on November 22nd and hopefully forget this experience. Edit 11/13/25: This morning I received a call from Ms. Horn, who apologized for the incident and offered me a free goose leg as a replacement. This was a very kind and unexpected gesture, and I gladly accept the invitation. I've increased my rating for now, and I'll give it 5 stars if the goose is as I expect it on my next visit 😉

The food was truly excellent and impressive, but unfortunately, the rest of the experience was very disappointing. The service was unfriendly and inattentive, making the entire visit unpleasant. It's a shame, because the food really deserved a better rating. Hopefully, the service will improve in the future, and then the restaurant could truly impress. It's very disappointing that we took so much time and were served as if we were at a fast-food joint.

We were guests at this restaurant for my grandmother's 90th birthday. The reservation was made months in advance (in person after a tasting, NOT by phone!), invitations were designed and even sent to Spain so that relatives living there could travel for this special occasion. It was repeatedly confirmed that all guests (a very manageable number) would be seated at one table – this was my great-grandmother's only wish, as she wanted to spend this special day with her family. The disappointment was all the greater when, just two hours before the celebration was to begin, my parents received word that the guests would have to be split between two tables because they had also accepted a larger party. My 90-year-old great-grandmother was so upset that she burst into tears in front of her grandchildren. It was a very painful moment for us, especially since everything had been lovingly planned up to that point. Such a last-minute change to a long-planned event is simply unprofessional. The previously arranged champagne reception also did not take place as planned. Upon request, guests were offered a glass of sparkling wine, but there was no real welcome. The service staff seemed overwhelmed – the younger waitress was friendly but clearly stressed, while the older server was curt and irritable. In a restaurant of this price range, one expects more warmth and attentiveness. Since there were small children present, I asked if they could have some bread or their food brought to them beforehand – something that is standard practice in many restaurants. Only after a considerable wait (due to a club event in the next room) did the food arrive – mine was completely forgotten. The young waitress was certainly not to blame, but it contributed to the overall disorganization of the evening. The food itself was a mixed bag: While some dishes were acceptable, my brother's dish was disappointing in terms of taste and not worth the price. Although the staff acknowledged the problem, we were still charged the full price – the dessert platter offered as an apology was a nice gesture, but it didn't make up for the difference in cost. We celebrated our Halloween wedding here, and I have to say, everything was perfect. We already knew from past experiences, having eaten here several times, that we were always very satisfied. But the food at the wedding far exceeded all our expectations. The staff were all incredibly motivated and lovely. They all gave their best, and we were so pleased. And the entire organization behind the scenes was just perfect. A huge thank you to Ms. Scherf and the entire team at the Hattersheim Oil Mill. It was truly an honor to be your guests.

No! I'm not writing a review. Just a quick note: the impression from my first visit was completely confirmed by my third. In both my life and my wife's, we agree we've never had such poorly prepared food. I'm not talking about the quality of the ingredients; it's impossible to judge due to the abysmal preparation. The ambiance is fantastic 👍 I'm really hoping that someday, with some far-sighted management, the kitchen will be turned around, or that the entire place will experience a revival with willing staff.

We had a wonderful evening at the oil mill. The food was of very high quality and tasted excellent. The service was very attentive and courteous. We had our 87-year-old mother with us, who felt very comfortable and enjoyed the friendly conversation with the server. We immediately reserved a table for the Spanish tapas evening because we felt so at ease. Keep up the good work; you make your guests happy!

The board of the Hattersheim Gymnastics Club 1883 e.V. would like to thank everyone involved for the excellently organized "TVH Thank You Dinner 2025" event, which was planned by Ms. Scherf (Event Manager) and executed by the service team of the Hattersheim Oil Mill. The service team was very attentive and courteous and performed their duties to our complete satisfaction.

Beautiful location. However, the ambiance is far superior to the food, especially in terms of price and service. Staff are unfortunately unfriendly and unmotivated, and the food (as I said, especially considering the price/performance ratio) is nothing special. A tip for the restaurant: ask your grandma how they make the potato salad... Potato salad with cucumber is neither tasty nor fancy; it just doesn't work. The portion is sufficient for someone who doesn't eat much, but one portion won't satisfy a huge hunger—not to mention that the potato and cucumber salad was three times as large as the actual schnitzel/cordon bleu.

Disappointing evening for a 90th birthday. We had reserved a table for 16-20 people months in advance for our mother's/grandmother's/great-grandmother's 90th birthday, and we were guaranteed it. Unfortunately, this day didn't turn out to be the festive event we had hoped for. About two hours before the party was to begin, we received a call informing us that we had been moved to two tables. This led to great disappointment and tears for our birthday girl, who had wished to celebrate at one table with all the guests. One guest didn't receive a main course because it had been forgotten. Since she was there with a small child, she couldn't wait any longer and went home without one. Another guest received a steak that had no roasted aromas and was disappointing in terms of taste. Unacceptable for the price. A nice dessert plate was served free of charge as an apology. Conclusion: Such a significant event deserves attention and organization, which was unfortunately lacking on this evening. We hope this feedback will contribute to improvements so that other guests don't have to experience similar things.

We are unfortunately more than disappointed with our visit four weeks ago. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the food was much better a long time ago than it was four weeks ago, but our evening was completely ruined by the extremely rude waitress. Even upon greeting us, she seemed disinterested and annoyed. When we asked about the menu, we received curt replies. Taking our order seemed to be a casual duty for the elderly waitress; I have never seen a person serve in sandals, let alone one with well-groomed feet. The absolute height of rudeness was the way she brought us our drinks and food. She practically slammed our glasses and plates down on the table without saying a word. When a member of staff asked us if everything was OK, she simply responded with an annoyed "what else?" and turned away without further explanation. We felt unwanted and like a burden throughout the entire meal. Appropriate, well-organized service to guests definitely looks different. For this poor and disrespectful service, we should have been paid to even stay there. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the restaurant in this condition and will not be returning or recommending it to anyone.

Even during the planning and coordination phases, the team was very professional and supported us tremendously in making the meal special. On the day itself, our guests had the choice between a 2-course menu (starter and main course or main course and dessert) or a 3-course menu. Each guest could choose their own individual dishes, so vegetarians were also catered for. The ambiance, the food, and the service at the Ölmühle are truly stunning and very attentive, and we can't give anything but 5 stars!

Dear Ölmühl team, we are big fans. However, we have to deduct a star today. The food was great, the ambiance is fantastic. But what was wrong with your service today? The service was very nice, no question, but our starter arrived before we learned that our aperitif (rosé vermouth with tonic) was "sold out." We were then asked to get the drinks menu again so we could order a different aperitif...that didn't happen. After we had almost finished our starter, we asked for our ordered bottle of wine to be served with our meal. Mmmm...then a warm bottle of white wine arrived. The pouring of the wine was also anything but what we're used to from you. From the kitchen, we then heard (we were sitting on the terrace) "...how do you make the sauce again..."? The plates were also cleared away without comment, even though we would have liked to say that it was delicious. Please don't get us wrong, we're huge fans, but today the fun was unfortunately spoiled. We're not blaming the service, but rather, the restaurant management has a duty to explain the process to the staff in detail.

The meat was ordered medium rare and was raw. A complaint was accepted, but without an apology. The head waiter was very arrogant. We received a fruit schnapps with three small flies, but we complained, and it was also taken away without an apology. The service left much to be desired. Our guests were very surprised and disappointed.

I had the opportunity to experience the oil mill at a family celebration. The buffet was very high-quality and varied, and the cuisine is truly impressive. The service was also very friendly, attentive, yet unobtrusive, and pleasant all around. The oil mill is definitely highly recommended for special celebrations; they know exactly what's important. We will of course also try out the regular restaurant service; it's worth the longer journey!

We accidentally found this place while walking. We were lucky to get a table - it's obvious that the restaurant is popular and it's better to book in advance. The dish "Ofenfrisch Hans" turned out to be simply amazing and very filling. I'm glad that we got here just in the season when it's served.

Our first visit to the oil mill on May 1st was an excellent experience 😇 The brunch was exceptional, a lot of choice of high quality food, Lovingly prepared, not a run-of-the-mill buffet. Everyone from the oil mill team always looked after their guests and was very accommodating - a very friendly environment - we had fun and we would be happy to come back. A great place with great attention to detail and a wonderful ambience, both indoors and outdoors. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again and trying out more exquisite dishes :-) Clear recommendation :-)

Brunch - nach meiner Auffassung, sollte er das Frühstück und Lunch abdecken. Wir waren dieses Jahr das erste und das letzte Mal in der Ölmühle. Bei der Auswahl haben sie das Thema etwas verfehlt und leider zähes Fleisch, komplett versalzene Suppe und Kartoffelsalat mit teilweise nicht gar gekochtem Spargel, zählt nicht zu gehobener Küche. Lachs auf der prallen Sonne servieren und Eier mit Kaviar..nicht so gute Kombination, auf die Sonne bezogen. Das Essen war wirklich nicht lobenswert. Logischerweise, wenn bei Tischreservierung angegeben wird, dass auch Kinder mitessen, sollte das Küchenpersonal auf die Menükarten bitte verfasst haben, in welchem Lebensmittel Koffein, Chinin oder Alkohol steckt. Ambiente sehr gut gelungen und das Personal stets freundlich. Die Küche muss echt mehr Gas geben. Warum muss überall die Qualität schlechter werden? Es sollte noch Restaurants geben, die trotz steigender Preise immer gute Qualität abliefern, dann wäre mir der Preis ehrlich egal.

Easter Sunday, evening, special menu for Easter. Very well eaten, delicious lamb rump with green beans, potato gratin and a very tasty sauce. Tafelspitz with bouillon vegetables, horseradish sauce and green sauce. Beef steak with herb butter and fried potatoes (we actually ordered fries 😔). Good portion size, great wines. More delicious crème brulee and tiramisu afterwards. Great service staff, restaurant was full but still remained friendly and tried very hard. We felt very comfortable and will come back. Maybe for a quick lunch or for one of the many events (BBQ or Oktoberfest), I'm pleased that the restaurant is so well received.

Wir waren zu viert zum Sonntagsbrunch. Restaurant war gut gefüllt. Reservieren sollte man unbedingt. Das Ambiente ist angenehm und das Personal sehr freundlich. Die Auswahl an Speisen war groß. Die kalten Speisen hat man sich vom Büfett, das im Gastraum aufgebaut ist. Die warmen Speisen bekommt man in der Küche. Mal was anderes. Kannten wir bisher nicht. Mit aktuell 43 Euro pro Person ist der Brunch zwar nicht gerade günstig, aber da das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt, können wir den Brunch nur empfehlen und werden wiederkommen.

We had a wonderful evening with the theme evening "Lights out, candles on"!!! As always, the food and service was outstanding. The already great ambience would be even more romantic with lots of candles. We'll definitely come back!!!

A very nice restaurant. The location is quiet and has enough parking spaces. In summer they also have a terrace and in winter they have a winter garden. Menu is clear. The prices are high. The service is very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend it. Ps: very nice restaurant for weddings, max. capacity 60 - 70 people.

The restaurant is a very nice place. However, it is not recommended because of the long waiting times. If I have made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. and the food is served at 8:30 p.m. and therefore have to bridge 2 hours with drinks, that's a no go. Either there are too few staff in the kitchen or there are too many guests in the restaurant. Maybe. This is a small indication of improvement. There are also no vegetarian dishes on the menu.

Wir waren zum dritten und letztem Mal hier Essen. Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr schön, eine sehr gelungene Mischung aus Altem und Neuem. Jedoch: nachdem wir 2 x recht zufrieden waren, waren die „Gänse“ ( es gab nur Keule) in diesem Jahr recht geschmacklos. dafür mag ich kein Geld ausgeben und in der Folge kommen wir auch nicht wieder.

Celebrated my birthday with 16 people in the oil mill. I was super happy with the event manager who prepared the whole thing. The food was delicious, the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice and the service was very accommodating. The table decorations could have been adapted a little more lovingly to this occasion. Gladly again.

We were there on December 8th. for dinner at the oil mill and celebrated my brother-in-law's birthday. As with our previous visits, everything was wonderful - the food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very inviting. We particularly like that everything here is just right: from the quality of the food to the warm atmosphere. There aren't too many comparable options in Hattersheim and Kriftel, but the Ölmühle definitely sets the standard. Many thanks to the entire team for a lovely evening, which we enjoyed very much. We'll definitely be back!

Bland aftertaste at the end... We were guests at the oil mill for the first time on Friday evening. I'll start with the many positive impressions. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy. Great lighting concept, discreetly decorated. The service was very friendly and accommodating, even if it sometimes took a little longer, but this wasn't a problem for us. The food was excellent and our wine choice was perfect. We had the goose menu and deer ragout. Both very well seasoned. The goose meat could have been a little more tender, but the taste was definitely very good. Delicious dumplings and fine side dishes. The red cabbage was also great. The only point of criticism during the meal was that our table was set for 3 people and the place settings that were not needed were not removed. So far we've had a lovely evening with good service in an attractive atmosphere. So, we spontaneously decided to reserve a table for another evening for our birthday. Our extremely friendly waitress said that unfortunately she couldn't accept a reservation because she was only a temporary worker and referred us to a colleague. And that was the beginning of the very bad end to the evening. Even at the beginning, the colleague seemed rather unfriendly. I told her I wanted to reserve a table for my birthday. There was no table available on the requested date. After a bit of back and forth, we finally found an appointment. The lady seemed very annoyed and always had this unfriendly tone. When I asked, since my parents are older and sit better on a bench, if they could get such a table (of which there are actually enough), the lady was upset that you couldn't choose tables here, that wouldn't be possible at all. My question as to whether we could sit in the front room was immediately blocked. However, she would write down her wish. I disliked the arrogant and condescending way the lady acted. In such a way that you should be happy that you even got a table. It's a real shame, we go out to eat often and have certain demands. I can easily reserve a table of my choice in any of our regular restaurants. I don't understand why this isn't the case in the oil mill. I also mentioned this briefly in the discussion and immediately dismissed it as saying that the desired note was already enough. Otherwise everyone would always reserve the best table in advance. Since we really enjoyed our time at the oil mill, we would certainly have come back very often, but that left a bad aftertaste at the end. I have no idea whether I would like to visit the restaurant again, as I value professional, friendly and courteous interaction with the guest.

I'm very excited. Super friendly and attentive Service. Our dishes were very, very tasty. 1 point of criticism but not The very good overall impression is spoiled: Unfortunately there was no cheese for dessert. (Not everyone likes sweets)

We had a venison ragout which was so dry and didn't suit us afterwards. There were 4 of us and we all had the same thing. When we pointed this out to the staff, we received the answer: "The others have already complained, we'll pass it on." There was no apology, but the full price. It's a shame, we know each other better there.

Very great restaurant, ambience is an absolute dream. The service is top, you don't have to wait long and you are constantly served. The only big BUT: Meat quality was very poor on two visits. A Wienerschnitzel that is tough has nothing to do with a Wiener Schnitzel. Otherwise, the salad was very tasty and the presentation was also great.

The table for two was ordered for 7 p.m. on Sunday, but unfortunately one of us had to sit with our back to the open entrance area. An unpleasant situation. We were politely seated, but then nothing happened for 20 minutes before the menu and wine list were presented. Drinks were taken at the next table but we were ignored. It took at least 30 minutes for drinks and food to be consumed at the same time. The drinks came relatively quickly, but the food wasn't served until 8:45 p.m. Unfortunately, we didn't ask if we wanted more drinks or even a dessert. The room was initially full and the volume was correspondingly high. Conversation at the table at normal volume is impossible. Overall, a somewhat disappointing first visit to the oil mill.
