This was our first time ordering from Hatoky and definitely not the last time. Super fast delivery, food nice and warm, fresh and above all super tasty. We'll definitely visit you in person and then I can say something about the ambience. We were very satisfied. We can only recommend you.

The food was okay, but nothing more. Paid €6 for water! The sauce didn't come until 20 minutes later and the waitress - the plate was already empty by then. And when you pay, the waitress simply takes a €2 tip from your change and naturally thanks you. I didn't know that waiters now decide for themselves how much to tip. Outrageous

As a Unagi fan, I was very happy about the bowl. The portion is generous, so you should be hungry. However, I wasn't impressed with the mayonnaise, eel is already heavy enough.

I recently ate at HATOKY and overall was very satisfied. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, you immediately felt welcome. The food was high quality, freshly prepared and really tasted great. However, the portions were quite large - perhaps a bit too much for some if they wanted to order an appetizer or dessert. Overall, definitely worth recommending!

First, an older woman brought us the menus. We politely asked if it was possible to speak English. She said “No.” Not “No, sorry,” or even with a polite smile. Just a weirdly cold response that made us feel like we had just offended her. Not great customer service, but not a huge deal either. After a while, a younger guy came to take our order. We pointed to the dishes we wanted. Each item on the menu had a number, which made things easier. I ordered “H.1 Fried Salmon.” He repeated “salmon” after me, and I saw him write down “H1.” 50 MINUTES LATER… the first lady returned with our food. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full, and some people who arrived after us had already been served. She stood at our table with two plates, unsure where to place them. I said, “I ordered fried salmon.” She replied, “Yes, salmon,” and put down a plate that looked like sushi with tuna. I was very confused, but she clearly said „salmon”. I started doubting myself and googled photos. It tasted like tuna, of course, but I was so thrown off by her behavior that it took me a moment to accept it. Mistakes happen but to lie so blatantly was ridiculous. Still, we didn’t have time to reorder and wait another 50 minutes. We had a bus leaving Germany that day. So I ate the food, not enjoying it at all. Later, a third waitress came by. She spoke English and asked how everything was. I said, “I ordered salmon but got tuna.” She smiled and said, “I’m so sorry.” At that point, I actually considered not leaving a negative review. At least there was one kind, professional person working there, not deserving any criticism. But then we asked her for the bill. She just brought a card reader and we paid. Without her suggestion, we asked for a receipt. On it, we noticed an unknown charge “Trinkgelder etc.” for 4€. We had no idea what it was, so we googled it. It was a tip. A tip they added themselves, manually, on the card machine, without asking. In Germany, tipping is optional, not mandatory like in the U.S. or Canada. After making us wait for almost an hour, giving us the wrong order, and generally providing poor service, they still took extra money from us, and did so without saying a word. It’s not about the 4€, obviously. It was just deeply disrespectful and possibly not legal. We chose this place because of its high rating on Google Maps, so I’m shocked at how disappointing it was. It was a waste of time, money, and left us in a bad mood in our last moments on this trip.

Centrally located, good menu, friendly staff, good cuisine

Corrected version in desired style: The restaurant also offers the opportunity to sit outside. We tried different poke bowls. The vegan version and the bowl with chicken skewers were particularly tasty. The latter tasted good, but had a bit too much sauce on it. The portions are generous. The staff was friendly.

The food was delicious and the service was also great. The service even gave us back the ten euros that we had accidentally overpaid. Overall everything was great!

I like to eat a lot of pho and also summer rolls. I went to this restaurant as an exception because it opened half an hour earlier than my regular restaurant across the street and I was under a bit of time pressure. I ordered a beef pho. Unfortunately the beef was quite tough and overcooked. I put a lot of chewed pieces back into a napkin. Ok, it can happen. The rice noodles were still a stuck lump! Then I became suspicious. Thought rice noodles were almost as sacred as rice. Fresh herbs are also usually served: coriander, bean sprouts, chili, lime... none of that was served. The soup was garnished to death with scallions. Soup had no spice, it was just quite sweet. It tasted just like the Pho ready-made soups that are now available at Rewe. I paid around 30 euros for the soup, two summer rolls and a zotron grass tea!! Since it was lunchtime, I would have gotten the same thing at my regular restaurant opposite for 18.50 euros, only in 300% better quality. But the service was super nice. But food: no thanks!

The food is always fresh and incredibly delicious. I've made it my mission to try the entire menu, and so far, everything has been delicious. A definite recommendation for anyone who appreciates balanced and fresh Asian cuisine. I especially recommend any of the dishes with curry sauce :-)

Food and service was okay. As others have already written here, the atmosphere was more like a large snack bar or food court. It was very full on Wednesday from around 6:30 p.m./7:00 p.m. and the background noise was unfortunately far too loud, even in a small group of four it was exhausting to have a conversation. You should install some sound-absorbing elements and perhaps a few partitions. That's why we left the restaurant quickly after eating and consumed more drinks in another quieter and more comfortable location and had a nice evening. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible at Hatoky. I will therefore not visit it again. Card payment possible with Google Pay.

Highly recommended, food and service were perfect. What wasn't great for us was that it was quite crowded and loud during rush hour.

In my opinion a bit too expensive for the food on offer. There were plenty of free seats at lunchtime. Service was nice and quick. The food was too superficial for me, everything tasted too much like the sauce that overshadowed everything. Vegetables and other ingredients were therefore not convincing.

The sushi is really top but charging €5.20 for a 0.4l glass of still water is a disgrace. You should definitely think about the price.

Simply the best sushi shop I've ever been to! The sushi is incredibly tasty, fresh and perfectly prepared. The service is super friendly and attentive, and really fast - no long waiting times. Everything just fits here! Clear recommendation for all sushi lovers.

I spent a lovely evening with friends at Hatoky in Bochum. The menu leaves nothing to be desired and the food was simply delicious! We chose different sushi and didn't regret it! Even though the restaurant was full, we were able to have a good conversation.

As a Vietnamese person judging Vietnamese food in a foreign country, I think the dishes I had here were quite good, though it is hard to demand solid authenticity in an international setting. Presentation was nice. Bún Bò was delicious: beef was cooked right, sauce was balanced. Vermicelli was tougher than in Vietnam though it was not a big problem. Vegetables were made differently to adapt to the taste of local people. Gà Rôti was not excellent due to the lack of depth in flavors and aroma, but still enjoyable with a wide range of greens. I preferred Bún Bò. The chefs communicated in Vietnamese, I felt as if I’d been in Vietnam with that atmosphere. Felt so good to see Vietnamese people doing so well in a foreign country.

The food was delicious and the restaurant was nicely decorated, but the waitress with the short red-dyed hair had absolutely no desire to do her job and it showed. Looked totally annoyed, talked and took the order incorrectly! It's a shame, the rest was great :(

Food is okay, seating uncomfortable. Loud and an atmosphere like a snack bar, which is what this shop is. Restaurant is definitely not the right term for this. During the meal the table is cleared away and you don't want to eat any more. After 1 hour you can clearly notice a push to pay and to free the table for others. The problem will no longer exist as another visit is ruled out. You can get the quality in every stand-up snack bar.

The food was super tasty - great selection. Unfortunately, the service person responsible for us was quite unfriendly. The three of us ordered several things and she said it was too much (we ate everything!) And when we insisted on ordering it that way, she didn't even look at us while we talked.

It's a shame, we didn't like the food or the service. Pho is much tastier elsewhere and comes with side dishes (lemon, bean sprouts, herbs, etc.) and I find the beef dish with very little and not particularly high-quality beef a disgrace. The dish consists only of sauce. You definitely pay too much for that. Looks like a children's portion. It's really hard to find beef in a beef dish. The main thing is to make a profit. It doesn't work at all!

Food tasty, service good! The rice portions for the dishes are ridiculously small. This is the cheapest thing about the court. So you have to order an extra portion of rice with it. Then the cash register rings.

I can't rate the food because we didn't stay that long. While we were looking at the menu at the table, we noticed something in the wicker basket at our table. ANTS 🐜!!! I discovered at least 5 of them there. We got up straight away and left the restaurant.

Didn't eat on site but ordered food there. Unfortunately the vegan gyoza bowl had meat. Instead of vegan gyoza, the gyoza were filled with meat (presumably chicken). Unfortunately I only noticed this with the 3rd gyoza. In my opinion, something like that shouldn't happen. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant for people with a vegan lifestyle.

We came across the restaurant today on our short trip to Bochum. The service staff is very friendly. A very nice selection of wonderful food. Thanks to the open kitchen concept, you could watch the chefs preparing the food. The food was really excellent. We will definitely come here again on our next trip.

I would say the best sushi in Bochum. I would definitely reserve a table. The lunch menu is not to be sniffed at either. I love being there, the staff are super friendly and always keep an eye on every table.

It was our first time there and we were pleasantly surprised. Very nice service. The food was excellent and the value for money was great, although the drinks were quite expensive. It was very crowded, so we recommend making reservations. It was a beautiful evening. We'd love to come back. 🙂

We were last there >1 year ago, there is now a different map. The drinks seem quite expensive to me, 6.20 for 0.5 Erdinger. The taste of the food has changed, not for the better. Why is dry ice served with food?

Disappointing – massively increased prices with no added value We have been regular guests at Hatoky Bochum for years and have always really appreciated the food there. Unfortunately, the menus have recently been completely revised and the prices have been raised massively again. The new prices are no longer in proportion to what is on offer - absolutely not justified for us. The atmosphere and the food are still fine, but the price increase has unfortunately ruined the price-performance ratio. It's a real shame as we always enjoyed visiting this place. But with the current prices, Hatoky Bochum is no longer an option for us. If you're willing to pay a lot more you might enjoy it, but we've decided to go somewhere else in the future. PS: We are in the catering industry ourselves and are aware of the rising costs, but the prices are exaggerated.

Eating Vietnamese is a great recommendation that should also be given to others. We ate fantastically.

For me one of the tastiest restaurants in the Ruhr area. The food is great, fresh, tasty and healthy.

The food was really very tasty. Unfortunately the service wasn't that good. There was not an allergy card as described in the card when asked. The service just said that they didn't have it. The waiter also took the soy sauce from the table even though I was obviously still eating. Immediately after we were finished, the service came and wanted us to pay. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert or drinks. Conclusion: The food was delicious, due to the service and loud atmosphere, not again.

Nice and fast restaurant. The service is very fast. The food is great and the price-performance ratio is okay. The ambience inside isn't particularly great. Reminds me more of a fast food restaurant. Inside everything is very hectic, very warm and very loud. But that's probably also authentic. It's more comfortable on the terrace.

The food here is a palate orgasm that is second to none. Fast and polite service and the food is not only tasty but also filling. You just have to go. There were three of us here and it was our second time here and each time our worries and depression were blown away. The chefs deserve the best in the world because the food is just too delicious. Please increase salary! Prices are justified by God. We will come here again! Thank you very much.

Food is quite good. But unfortunately there is currently a significant price increase again.

The service was very friendly. The restaurant and toilet were modern and clean. Had spring rolls as a starter and duck as a main course, which was very tasty and very well seasoned.

I ordered by phone. My order easily turned into 20 euros more when I picked it up. Then came the disappointment at home. The wrong thing was also packed. I ordered here for the first and last time. Unfortunately disappointing for me

Our food was simply forgotten, the waiter noticed it at some point and didn't apologize or offer any small compensation for it. He doesn't care if people give the restaurant a bad rating... they apparently earn a lot The quantity of the food was also rather limited

The waiter took the order incorrectly and was unwilling to take back what he had incorrectly taken, let alone offer our actual order request. Only for an additional charge. After being Hatoky customers for years, this was the last time we were there because the service didn't treat us fairly. Apparently Hatoky simply no longer needs to respond to customers.

The Hatoky (HAnoi and TOKYo as namesake) offers excellent dishes in a wide variety of variations. Although we only had two main courses today, we were more than satisfied. We would be happy to come back to try other delicacies. The ambience may seem a bit old-fashioned or out of date at first, but this doesn't affect the taste.

Now all Vietnamese in Essen will have a star deducted.

Hatoky offers extremely delicious food with lots of flair. The decor may seem simple, but this restaurant is highly recommended.

Food was exceptionally good. The portion was just right, but from the perspective of someone who doesn't eat much. So people who are very hungry should definitely order at least one appetizer.

We have ordered from Hatoky several times. Delivery was always faster than stated when ordering. Sometimes 30 minutes earlier. What surprises and delights us every time. The suppliers are always polite and friendly. Hot dishes are delivered separately from the sushi, which means everything stays fresh and the warm dishes arrive very warm. We haven't been able to complain about the taste yet. Whether it was the fried noodles with duck or tofu, the spring rolls, the sauces and of course the sushi. Everything tastes fresh and is very tasty. There is also a large selection of vegan dishes. Everyone will find something here. Just great! If you're looking for good sushi, you can't miss Hatoky!

So far we have almost always been satisfied. It seems to me that it has become a little more expensive? There is a younger waiter who is always really nice and funny. If this is not there, the service is rather mediocre. However, the food always tastes very good! I eat vegan and have a good selection.
