Delicious food, top-notch service – highly recommended!

Great food, extremely popular restaurant, but a bit noisy during peak hours.

Everything was great, the staff were friendly, but you have to wait a relatively long time for your food and to pay. Otherwise, it was great.

Delicious, but also very expensive, especially the drinks. Coke over €5. Homemade lemonade €8.50. The food came quickly. Unfortunately, the restaurant was already unpleasantly loud before 6 p.m. The staff were actually very friendly, but when we asked for the bill, we were told someone would come right away. Ten minutes later, the table next to us also asked for the bill. Luckily, we heard them asking them to pay up front because the restaurant was so full. We did so, otherwise we probably would have waited forever.

I would come back here. The food was delicious. We had sushi and two pho soups as mains, which were very big portions. The price was appropriate for what we got. Service was polite and prompt. The only recommendation I would make is to leave a bit more space in between the tables, it felt a bit crowded and gave a feeling of lack of privacy being so close to other diners.

I've always been quite satisfied with Hatoky. Last time, however, was a disaster. The waiter forgot our reservation, and we were offered a makeshift seat outside, but with a couple of blankets. They weren't brought to us, and when we asked, it became clear that they were out. After about half an hour, he finally came for the first time to take our drinks. When we ordered our food, the waiter took the wrong order and brought it. When I pointed it out, the food was immediately taken away, and a short while later, the correct meal was brought. In the end, I had to pay for both, including the one I hadn't even touched. Our tea order at the end (we were all freezing outside and it was pretty uncomfortable at one point) was forgotten. It didn't arrive until an hour later, after repeated requests. The waiters were clearly overwhelmed on a Friday evening. Forgetting a reservation or taking the wrong order isn't a problem, but this time, everything went wrong.

A very authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The food is excellent... The vegetables are fresh and crisp, the meat crispy (duck) and tender (beef). The coconut curry sauce is truly delicious. A large selection of appetizers and delicious soups. A large selection of sushi is also available. Many vegetarian dishes are available. All in all, an authentic and fantastic restaurant.

One of my favorite restaurants in Bochum for Asian cuisine. There's a huge selection of dishes, from spring and summer rolls, sushi and curries to soups and desserts. There's also a wide selection for vegetarians. You're spoiled for choice when it comes to drinks. The menu offers many non-alcoholic beverages like freshly made juices, as well as alcoholic drinks like beer and wine. The prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a bit hectic at peak times, but still inviting. We always enjoy coming back!

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. The website lists both a regular menu and a delivery menu – with no indication that they are different and that the delivery menu is only for deliveries. I ordered by phone for pickup, referring to the delivery menu. The numbers were correct when I picked up the food, but when I got home, I realized that the bag contained completely different dishes than the ones I expected. Only after calling again was I explained that the restaurant has a different menu and the numbers there are assigned to different dishes. Despite repeated inquiries, I was offered no accommodation – neither an exchange nor a credit. Instead, they simply repeatedly emphasized that "their hands are tied." For me, this is a clear lack of transparency and customer service. It would be absolutely necessary to clearly indicate the different menus on the website or over the phone, as this is completely and completely misleading and not clearly identifiable for the customer/consumer. I would have also appreciated a minimum of leniency, as I ended up receiving food I didn't even want to eat. For a restaurant that relies on regular customers, this behavior is unacceptable. I was a long-standing and loyal customer, but this behavior and manner of treatment is an absolute no-go.

Amazing cousine! I loved the green curry and the Pho soup

During my visit, I unfortunately noticed that an employee wearing glasses seemed unfriendly and didn't perform her duties with the necessary diligence. I also had the impression that she wasn't particularly approachable toward our table group.

The sushi itself was okay. Unfortunately, the inside-outside rolls were coated in a kind of cocktail sauce, the taste of which overpowered everything else. We found €5.90 for a liter of carbonated tap water to be significantly overpriced. We won't be going there again for a while.

If you're in the mood for Vietnamese food, this is a great place to eat. The noodle dishes are especially recommended. The pho, however, was only average. Service was very good, and the atmosphere was great, too.

The food was, as always, very good; the sushi and wok dishes were beyond reproach. The ambiance seems a bit dated; it was crowded and accordingly noisy. The selection of dishes is extensive, but not cheap. Unfortunately, one of the regular waitresses was a negative. She didn't have a kind word to say and didn't even thank us for the generous tip on a total of €170 for four people. Beforehand, the drinks weren't brought correctly, and we were accused of ordering them one way and not another. It's a shame that it's more about the service of the guests than about friendliness.

Corrected version in desired style: The restaurant also offers the opportunity to sit outside. We tried different poke bowls. The vegan version and the bowl with chicken skewers were particularly tasty. The latter tasted good, but had a bit too much sauce on it. The portions are generous. The staff was friendly.

Had a great dinner here. Everyone should try the sushi here. Top-notch service. 10/10

Wow, we were thrilled. The food was amazing, the service was great, and everything was beautifully presented. If you're in the mood for Asian cuisine in Bochum, you should definitely try it. There were seven of us and we didn't have a reservation. After a very short wait, we got a table. Nevertheless, I would recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant was very busy.

Hatoky: Fresh, delicious food. The sushi is of excellent quality and is spectacularly prepared. We visit the restaurant frequently and are thrilled. The service is great and all the employees treat our 1.5 year old son with care (from the cooks in the open kitchen to the service staff). We have already tried a few dishes from the menu and we are thrilled every time. An absolute recommendation if you are traveling in Bochum.

The food was okay, but nothing more. Paid €6 for water! The sauce didn't come until 20 minutes later and the waitress - the plate was already empty by then. And when you pay, the waitress simply takes a €2 tip from your change and naturally thanks you. I didn't know that waiters now decide for themselves how much to tip. Outrageous

As a Unagi fan, I was very happy about the bowl. The portion is generous, so you should be hungry. However, I wasn't impressed with the mayonnaise, eel is already heavy enough.

I recently ate at HATOKY and overall was very satisfied. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, you immediately felt welcome. The food was high quality, freshly prepared and really tasted great. However, the portions were quite large - perhaps a bit too much for some if they wanted to order an appetizer or dessert. Overall, definitely worth recommending!

The restaurant impresses with a beautiful ambience. The prices are student-friendly and the quality of the food is really good. I am impressed by the price-performance ratio here.

First, an older woman brought us the menus. We politely asked if it was possible to speak English. She said “No.” Not “No, sorry,” or even with a polite smile. Just a weirdly cold response that made us feel like we had just offended her. Not great customer service, but not a huge deal either. After a while, a younger guy came to take our order. We pointed to the dishes we wanted. Each item on the menu had a number, which made things easier. I ordered “H.1 Fried Salmon.” He repeated “salmon” after me, and I saw him write down “H1.” 50 MINUTES LATER… the first lady returned with our food. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full, and some people who arrived after us had already been served. She stood at our table with two plates, unsure where to place them. I said, “I ordered fried salmon.” She replied, “Yes, salmon,” and put down a plate that looked like sushi with tuna. I was very confused, but she clearly said „salmon”. I started doubting myself and googled photos. It tasted like tuna, of course, but I was so thrown off by her behavior that it took me a moment to accept it. Mistakes happen but to lie so blatantly was ridiculous. Still, we didn’t have time to reorder and wait another 50 minutes. We had a bus leaving Germany that day. So I ate the food, not enjoying it at all. Later, a third waitress came by. She spoke English and asked how everything was. I said, “I ordered salmon but got tuna.” She smiled and said, “I’m so sorry.” At that point, I actually considered not leaving a negative review. At least there was one kind, professional person working there, not deserving any criticism. But then we asked her for the bill. She just brought a card reader and we paid. Without her suggestion, we asked for a receipt. On it, we noticed an unknown charge “Trinkgelder etc.” for 4€. We had no idea what it was, so we googled it. It was a tip. A tip they added themselves, manually, on the card machine, without asking. In Germany, tipping is optional, not mandatory like in the U.S. or Canada. After making us wait for almost an hour, giving us the wrong order, and generally providing poor service, they still took extra money from us, and did so without saying a word. It’s not about the 4€, obviously. It was just deeply disrespectful and possibly not legal. We chose this place because of its high rating on Google Maps, so I’m shocked at how disappointing it was. It was a waste of time, money, and left us in a bad mood in our last moments on this trip.

I like to eat a lot of pho and also summer rolls. I went to this restaurant as an exception because it opened half an hour earlier than my regular restaurant across the street and I was under a bit of time pressure. I ordered a beef pho. Unfortunately the beef was quite tough and overcooked. I put a lot of chewed pieces back into a napkin. Ok, it can happen. The rice noodles were still a stuck lump! Then I became suspicious. Thought rice noodles were almost as sacred as rice. Fresh herbs are also usually served: coriander, bean sprouts, chili, lime... none of that was served. The soup was garnished to death with scallions. Soup had no spice, it was just quite sweet. It tasted just like the Pho ready-made soups that are now available at Rewe. I paid around 30 euros for the soup, two summer rolls and a zotron grass tea!! Since it was lunchtime, I would have gotten the same thing at my regular restaurant opposite for 18.50 euros, only in 300% better quality. But the service was super nice. But food: no thanks!

The food is always fresh and incredibly delicious. I've made it my mission to try the entire menu, and so far, everything has been delicious. A definite recommendation for anyone who appreciates balanced and fresh Asian cuisine. I especially recommend any of the dishes with curry sauce :-)

Food and service was okay. As others have already written here, the atmosphere was more like a large snack bar or food court. It was very full on Wednesday from around 6:30 p.m./7:00 p.m. and the background noise was unfortunately far too loud, even in a small group of four it was exhausting to have a conversation. You should install some sound-absorbing elements and perhaps a few partitions. That's why we left the restaurant quickly after eating and consumed more drinks in another quieter and more comfortable location and had a nice evening. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible at Hatoky. I will therefore not visit it again. Card payment possible with Google Pay.

Highly recommended, food and service were perfect. What wasn't great for us was that it was quite crowded and loud during rush hour.

In my opinion a bit too expensive for the food on offer. There were plenty of free seats at lunchtime. Service was nice and quick. The food was too superficial for me, everything tasted too much like the sauce that overshadowed everything. Vegetables and other ingredients were therefore not convincing.

The sushi is really top but charging €5.20 for a 0.4l glass of still water is a disgrace. You should definitely think about the price.

I spent a lovely evening with friends at Hatoky in Bochum. The menu leaves nothing to be desired and the food was simply delicious! We chose different sushi and didn't regret it! Even though the restaurant was full, we were able to have a good conversation.

As a Vietnamese person judging Vietnamese food in a foreign country, I think the dishes I had here were quite good, though it is hard to demand solid authenticity in an international setting. Presentation was nice. Bún Bò was delicious: beef was cooked right, sauce was balanced. Vermicelli was tougher than in Vietnam though it was not a big problem. Vegetables were made differently to adapt to the taste of local people. Gà Rôti was not excellent due to the lack of depth in flavors and aroma, but still enjoyable with a wide range of greens. I preferred Bún Bò. The chefs communicated in Vietnamese, I felt as if I’d been in Vietnam with that atmosphere. Felt so good to see Vietnamese people doing so well in a foreign country.

The food was delicious and the restaurant was nicely decorated, but the waitress with the short red-dyed hair had absolutely no desire to do her job and it showed. Looked totally annoyed, talked and took the order incorrectly! It's a shame, the rest was great :(

delicious food, quick service, 10/10 presentation

Food is okay, seating uncomfortable. Loud and an atmosphere like a snack bar, which is what this shop is. Restaurant is definitely not the right term for this. During the meal the table is cleared away and you don't want to eat any more. After 1 hour you can clearly notice a push to pay and to free the table for others. The problem will no longer exist as another visit is ruled out. You can get the quality in every stand-up snack bar.

The food was super tasty - great selection. Unfortunately, the service person responsible for us was quite unfriendly. The three of us ordered several things and she said it was too much (we ate everything!) And when we insisted on ordering it that way, she didn't even look at us while we talked.

It's a shame, we didn't like the food or the service. Pho is much tastier elsewhere and comes with side dishes (lemon, bean sprouts, herbs, etc.) and I find the beef dish with very little and not particularly high-quality beef a disgrace. The dish consists only of sauce. You definitely pay too much for that. Looks like a children's portion. It's really hard to find beef in a beef dish. The main thing is to make a profit. It doesn't work at all!

Food tasty, service good! The rice portions for the dishes are ridiculously small. This is the cheapest thing about the court. So you have to order an extra portion of rice with it. Then the cash register rings.
