Hartmann's Wirtshaus in Bochum

Hartmann's Wirtshaus completely impressed us! The beer platter with five different beers was a real highlight – each one exciting in its own right and served perfectly chilled. This was accompanied by a schnitzel that was absolutely stunning both in terms of taste and preparation: golden brown and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, yet relaxed and homely – you immediately feel at home. The super friendly service is also particularly noteworthy: attentive, warm, and with a genuine sense of good hospitality. An all-round successful evening – we'll definitely be back!

A day full of disappointments... Based on the good reviews, we reserved a table online. For health reasons, we reserved a ground-level table, which is offered on the website. Then, upon arrival, the first disappointment came. The system couldn't distinguish between the two, and there were no seats available on the ground floor. We sat at a high table, which we were happy with. Nevertheless, it makes no sense to offer that if it's not feasible. The impression of the dining room itself is, of course, a matter of taste, but for us, it was very disappointing. Unfortunately, it's not at all cozy and doesn't have the feel of an inn. The tiles make it more reminiscent of an old butcher shop. Daily special: plaice, Finkenwerder style. According to the waiter, the plaice is with crab. The second dish from the seasonal asparagus menu was spaetzle with the aforementioned asparagus. We ordered drinks first. Although the restaurant was rather quiet at the time, the drinks took forever to arrive. That was pretty annoying. When the food arrived, our eyes widened. The plaice wasn't made with crab, but with bacon. The waiter was very helpful, asked the kitchen, and said it used to always be made with crab, but the guests never wanted it. Of course, I could have googled what Finkenwerder style is, but I trusted the staff's expertise. As I said, the waiter was very friendly and wanted to take the plaice back, but throwing away the expensive fish wouldn't have made me happy either. The second dish was more like potato dumplings than spaetzle. Unfortunately, the asparagus component was almost nonexistent, with only three small pieces. Although there was an espresso on the house, it unfortunately didn't save the evening.

A truly highly recommended restaurant! The food was exceptionally delicious, the drinks were freshly poured, and the atmosphere was simply fantastic. You feel like you're in a real pub – just as the name suggests. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, because from now on, I'll definitely be a frequent guest at Hartmann's Wirtshaus!

We celebrated our wedding with 42 guests at the inn in May 2025. The food and service were excellent. Two waiters accompanied us throughout the evening and were very friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was delicious, and the guests were very satisfied. The manager was also open to our ideas during the preparations and gave us excellent advice. We celebrated in the party barn. Unfortunately, the building hasn't been renovated like the main hall yet, but that's planned, so we gave it a thumbs up. (The restrooms, in particular, need a fresh look, but they were still very clean.) Overall, we were very satisfied and would recommend the venue for smaller parties. The dance floor was large enough for the guests. Keep up the good work!

We always enjoy going to Hartmanns Wirtshaus. The food is very tasty, but at the same time you can also just have a drink in a larger group - almost like you used to in the classic pubs. The atmosphere is pleasant, the store is always busy and yet relaxed. The classic, “bourgeois” dishes are interpreted in a modern way and freshly prepared. We can particularly recommend the apple strudel as dessert and the ProBIER board with five different beer specialties. The large selection of freshly tapped beers is also worth highlighting. Seasonal specialties also provide variety. A nice place to stop off.

A tavern as you wish! Food selection small but nice. The prices are high, but you also get good quality. Portions could still be a little larger. The side dishes in particular, such as fries, were prepared very sparingly. Unfortunately the service is very slow. We had to wait 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Between the dishes there was also a waiting time of 40 minutes for the starter - another 60 minutes for the main course. The dessert, however, was there in 10 minutes. Nevertheless, the service was very nice and attentive when it was at the table. The restaurant was half full within the week. We'll be back!

I had the kale soup with garnishes. The portion size was shockingly small for the price of 15.00 euros. I left the restaurant hungry.

Phew, sorry, but point 1. The online menu differs from the actual menu. In fact, there is EVEN less choice. Too little. Because you were there with a large group of people, you had to take something that was way overpriced. Portion size is a disgrace for the price. My opinion. There was no drinks menu at all, or at least it wasn't even offered to us. For example, online the cola was a completely different size and a much lower price than we actually got. We weren't asked for a specific size either, just whether zero or normal. Unfortunately, the salad dressing was sour and therefore not edible. No idea what that was. By the way, they weren't asked. Schnitzel Full of fat in places and a tiny bit of fries with a tiny dollop of ketchup. If you looked up, webs of dust fluttered in the wind. Not that appetizing either. 2 schnitzels and 3 cokes almost 80€. And for the fact that it wasn't even that great. Unfortunately it's not worth another visit for us. But service is very nice.

Unfortunately I have to change a previous glowing review. At Christmas the food and service were very mediocre, with high prices. Only 3 out of 5. Before I said: You can hardly do more with an old inn. Appealing combination of solid tradition and fine cuisine with its own signature. The highlight: the old bowling alley has also been preserved. Prices are unfortunately a little higher, of course. Staff also on their toes, even if not always completely polished. But authentic. The house is now one of the best 3 in the city. The food was ok, but expensive!!! The red cabbage was unseasoned and the waffles were a joke! A tiny waffle on a huge board. A disgrace for this price. The atmosphere has something of a slaughterhouse.

At least several people were still hungry afterwards... Unfortunately, the tables were not decorated for Christmas/Advent. The staff was very nice and helpful. We've been there several times. The food and the quality of the food is always top. But at least the side dishes could have been a little larger... the price is perfectly fine for this great upscale cuisine, but the quantity is a bit small...

Amazing place! I travelled all the way from Copenhagen just for this traditional german food. The pulled pork burger is to die for! Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, price-performance-quality is not right (anymore). Personally, I think waiting over 20 minutes for someone to come and take your drink requests is too long. The food and quality were also not what we knew and expected. It's a shame... For the high total bill, we would have expected something of good quality. Update October 2024: We gave Hartmann's Wirtshaus another chance. And lo and behold: it works! We've even been there a few times now and are really satisfied, even if - like many other restaurateurs - they are struggling with a lack of staff. Once we hadn't made a reservation (again) and had already left the restaurant when the manager ran after us and said "Hey, I'm a restaurateur, I can't let a guest go - we'll find something for you". And THAT is the right attitude for me! Then I wait 10 minutes longer for food - including sausage - and I can bridge the waiting time with a beer. Sunday, a quarter to eight: "Sorry, the kitchen is already closed." Yes then: sorry for you, no sales today.

Great beer garden in Bochum. We were passing through and had lunch here. Schnitzel and Maultaschen. Both were very tasty, the staff was very friendly, overall a clear recommendation!

We were there today and spontaneously got a table in the beer garden. The service was very good despite the “full place”. The various draft beers were also great and the food was highly recommended. Really a great evening in a relaxed atmosphere.

We had the room with the bowling alley and not only the children had a lot of fun bowling. It was a very great lunch in the inn. I was there for the first time and was so surprised by the positive reviews from my son's guests that I will definitely eat there again. A very great team and great service!

Unclear pricing policy, Our question as to whether the currywurst (for 10 euros) was served with fries was answered in the affirmative. However, another 6 euros extra was charged for the fries, which was not mentioned anywhere, let alone mentioned in the menu. Including mayonnaise, the price for the currywurst was around 17.50 euros! Otherwise nice atmosphere, but as a guest you feel cheated.

We recently stopped by Hartmann's Wirtshaus and spent a lovely evening here. The ambience inside is quite cozy and furnished in keeping with the concept. The service can be improved somewhat, but it's fine in itself, apparently new service staff have been trained. The food here is really delicious and recommended! The beer selection is also not run of the mill and it's worth being a little brave and trying something different.

Unfortunately, the inn does not adhere to agreements and reservations. I had reserved the bowling alley for my birthday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. so that I could go bowling with friends and family, eat something and of course drink a few drinks. After about an hour, I was told that the next group was coming in 1.5 hours and we had to leave. When I said that we had reserved the bowling alley until 8 p.m., the landlord told me that there must be a misunderstanding. The bowling alley is always reserved for 2.5 hours. So we then had to move into the large guest room with everyone else. As compensation, I was fobbed off with the promise that the bowling alley would not be charged and the coffee would be on the house. To be honest, peanuts in comparison, but clearly: nice gesture. When I finally wanted to pay, there was no sign of the landlord and the waitresses didn't know anything. It was probably a misunderstanding too. So I still paid for the coffee and the bowling alley. A guest brought a cake as a surprise. A special phone call was made beforehand to see if that was okay. When the cake arrived, a plate fee of 35 euros was charged. For 15 guests. Probably also a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, the evening wasn't at all what I had imagined. Because we moved out of our own room with the bowling alley, where we moved around a bit and stood together while bowling, we had to sit at a large table in a corner. Unfortunately, this severely deteriorated the mood. Overall, the way Hartmann's Wirtshaus works has resulted in many unnatural pauses and processes. Bowling wasn't comfortable either, as we were very rushed through the 2.5 hours. Overall, I didn't have the impression that I was a guest who was trying to have a nice evening. I had the impression that my guests and I were put through a standard program in order to cash in at the end. I paid 600 euros for the evening and was very disappointed. I wouldn't host a celebration here again. And if there is no other option, I would get all agreements in writing. Overall, there are too many misunderstandings to be able to plan anything reliably.

Wir waren hier zum Geburtstag meines Sohnes mit der ganzen Familie zum Abendessen. Obwohl das Lokal knacke voll war, weil die Bedienung freundlich und insgesamt waren die Wartezeiten vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt absolut, frische, selbst gemachte Gerichte auf den Punkt gegart, liebevoll angerichtet und stimmig abgeschmeckt. Eine kleine Karte, ein Tagesgericht und eine kleine Bierauswahl haben den Abend abgerundet. Wir waren sehr zufrieden, ein Dankeschön auch an Personal, gern immer wieder.

Schon mehrfach im Wirtshaus gewesen. Richtig Schönes Ambiente und vorbildlicher Service. Speisen auf höchstem Niveau. Zig Biere direkt vom Fass. Eine Bereicherung für Bochum. Klare Empfehlung und komme jederzeit wieder gerne vorbei.

Einfach 15 von 15 Sternen!!! Hier passt einfach alles zusammen! Wir waren zum Weihnachtsessen dort. Das Ambiente ist einfach wunderschön. Das Essen war grandios und wir haben seit langem nicht mehr so gut gegessen! Die Menüs waren wunderbar aufeinander abgestimmt. An unserem Tisch wurden alle Gänge bestellt, und jeder war überaus begeistert. Der Service am Tisch war in vollstem Maße freundlich, es waren immer Getränke auf dem Tisch. Alle Servicemitarbeiter waren aufeinander eingespielt. Ob wohl der Nachtisch bei allen aufgegessen war, nahm meine Frau sich den Rest unseres Sohnes zu sich. Als die Mitarbeiterin auf dem Weg war um abzuräumen, gab es von einem Kollegen einen kurzen Blickkontakt, nickte mit dem Kopf kurz verneinend zu ihr herüber und sie wartete. Mega mega mega!!! Trotz der offenen Archtektur recht angenehm zu sitzen. Auch die Qualität der Speisen ist O.K. Allerdings muss man doch auch angesichts allgemeiner Preissteigerungen erwähnen, das die Preise leider überdurchschnittlich sind.

Erster Eindruck schon perfekt. Sauber, Personal total aufmerksam. Keine 10‘‘ gewartet bis man sich um mich gekümmert hat. Personal super aufmerksam, obgleich gut besuchtes Haus. Sehr übersichtliche Speisekarte -Gott sei Dank-Wiener Schnitzel bestellt. Vorab ein kleiner Beilagen Salat. Absolut frisch, authentisches,selbstgemachte Dressing mit leichter Sesamölnote. Esse i.d.R.kaum Salat, hätte mir am liebsten einen zweiten bestellt. Schnitzel perfekt. Max 5mm dick. Panade perfekt, super locker, leicht vom Fleisch gelöst. Bestes Wiener, welches ich je in Bochum und darüber hinaus genießen durfte. Direkt eine neue Reservierung für die gesamte Familie gemacht. Könnte mein neues Lieblingsrestaurant in Bochum werden.

Super essen, schönes Ambiente, nette Bedienung, große Auswahl an frisch gezapften Bieren. Preis-Leistung passt allemal :) Schönes Wirtshaus was sehr modern gehalten wurde, jedoch diesen typischen Wirtshaus-Stil beibehält.

Bayerisches Restaurant mit tollem authentischen Ambiente sowohl innen als auch im großen Biergarten. Der Service war freundlich aber stark ausbaufähig. Zuerst durften wir keine Getränke bestellen ohne auf die Karte geguckt zu haben. Nach einer Weile bekamen wir dann bloß eine Karte für vier Personen. Essen bestellen durften wir erst, nachdem die Getränke zum Tisch gebracht wurden. Diese ließen aber erneut eine Weile auf sich warten. Immerhin versuchte ein zweiter Kellner die Unannehmlichkeiten aufzufangen, brachte mehr Karten und guckte nach dem Verbleib der Getränke. Die Gerichte sind handwerklich und geschmacklich ziemlich gut. Kleinere Fehler, wie eine unkaubare Schwarte, taten dem Geschmack keinen großen Abbruch.

Ich hatte für meine Freunde und mich essen bestellt.sie waren skeptisch weil die Preise hoch waren. Nach dem Essen jedoch wussten sie, dass die Preise gerechtfertig sind. Es war spitze. Ich kann das Restaurant nur weiter empfehlen . Ich werde es sicher öfter nutzen und weiter empfehlen. Meine Freunde auch.

Hier gibt's noch echte Köche! Ein Fest für die Geschmacksnerven! Selbst die einfache Currywurst wird hier zum Highlight. Absolut zu empfehlen! Uriges Brauhaus Ambiente... wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Tolle Location, super Essen und Service

Wir waren mit 2 Bekannten vorgestern zum ersten Mal zum Abendessen dort. Was für ein tolles Gasthaus! Hartmanns Wirtshaus baut auf einer langen Geschichte auf, interpretiert "Wirtshaus" aber auf liebevolle Weise modern. Super ist der Hinweis auf regionale Zutaten. Wir hatten 4 verschiedene Gerichte und diese waren alle toll: Forelle in Pergamentpapier, Kalbgeschnetzeltes "Stroganoff", die "dekonstruierte Haxe" und Ochsenbäckchen. Der Service war super aufmerksam und schnell. Wir kommen bestimmt bald wieder!
