I've always thought it was very nice there. However, yesterday I had a really bad experience. We waited 1.5 hours for the food, then it arrived cold and the food was wrong. They then bought us a coffee, but unfortunately, it didn't make up for the €170 bill. It's a shame; we won't be coming back for a while. The location is very nice.

A tidy but pleasant atmosphere. My pork knuckle was nicely presented, but oversalted. The napkin dumplings tasted okay, but the cabbage side dish didn't go well with the knuckle or dumplings. A beautiful beer garden, a pleasant atmosphere, and very friendly staff. It's a fun place. The draft beer selection is also great. The food is decent, plentiful, with a few minor criticisms. I had the pulled pork burger. It was an incredible portion. The fries were great. The burger had far too much meat in my opinion. There was a bit of coleslaw somewhere, and sometimes a bit of sauce, but overall the meat overpowered everything, which I found a shame. Less meat, but a few distinct flavors (sour, spicy, fruity, etc.) would have elevated everything to a different level. The same goes for the deconstructed knuckle of pork that my wife ate. The meat was okay, the crisps were a good idea, and the Bavarian cabbage was also okay, but unfortunately, everything was overshadowed by the noticeably oversalted sauce. With a little more attention, much more could have been achieved here. The schnitzels that were carried past us looked great, but unfortunately, we didn't eat them.

Hey, that was beautiful... Hartmann's Wirtshaus in Bochum isn't just any pub; it's a true masterpiece of craftsmanship with a tap and a pan. There's no messing around here; they cook, grill, and fry until the rags fly. That veal schnitzel? Boy, it's so delicious, it almost makes your fork bow. The breading is perfect, nothing soggy, everything fresh and crispy from the pan. Portion? Right on target. Price? Not exactly cheap, but still absolutely fair for what you get. You can even treat yourself to dessert. The beer garden is large and shady; even in midsummer, you can easily spend half a day there if the "Fiege" (a kind of "Zwickel") is cold enough. And the menu is honest. Whether it's currywurst, a snack, or a pub classic, you know what you're getting, and it tastes good. Atmosphere? Rustic-modern. Exactly what you want. No frills, no frills, just cozy and clean. And the crew is quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. No long waits, no paperwork, just voila, there you go, the food is served. The Frittensheriff's conclusion: If you're out and about in Bochum and hungry, you can stop by with a clear conscience. But maybe it's better to call ahead, as the place is popular. A day full of disappointments... Based on the good reviews, we reserved a table online. For health reasons, we reserved a ground-level table, which is offered on the website. Then, upon arrival, the first disappointment came. The system couldn't distinguish between the two, and there were no seats available on the ground floor. We sat at a high table, which we were happy with. Nevertheless, it makes no sense to offer that if it's not feasible. The impression of the dining room itself is, of course, a matter of taste, but for us, it was very disappointing. Unfortunately, it's not at all cozy and doesn't have the feel of an inn. The tiles make it more reminiscent of an old butcher shop. Daily special: plaice, Finkenwerder style. According to the waiter, the plaice is with crab. The second dish from the seasonal asparagus menu was spaetzle with the aforementioned asparagus. We ordered drinks first. Although the restaurant was rather quiet at the time, the drinks took forever to arrive. That was pretty annoying. When the food arrived, our eyes widened. The plaice wasn't made with crab, but with bacon. The waiter was very helpful, asked the kitchen, and said it used to always be made with crab, but the guests never wanted it. Of course, I could have googled what Finkenwerder style is, but I trusted the staff's expertise. As I said, the waiter was very friendly and wanted to take the plaice back, but throwing away the expensive fish wouldn't have made me happy either. The second dish was more like potato dumplings than spaetzle. Unfortunately, the asparagus component was almost nonexistent, with only three small pieces. Although there was an espresso on the house, it unfortunately didn't save the evening.

A truly highly recommended restaurant! The food was exceptionally delicious, the drinks were freshly poured, and the atmosphere was simply fantastic. You feel like you're in a real pub – just as the name suggests. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, because from now on, I'll definitely be a frequent guest at Hartmann's Wirtshaus!

Great service and nice bowling alley!

We celebrated our wedding with 42 guests at the inn in May 2025. The food and service were excellent. Two waiters accompanied us throughout the evening and were very friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was delicious, and the guests were very satisfied. The manager was also open to our ideas during the preparations and gave us excellent advice. We celebrated in the party barn. Unfortunately, the building hasn't been renovated like the main hall yet, but that's planned, so we gave it a thumbs up. (The restrooms, in particular, need a fresh look, but they were still very clean.) Overall, we were very satisfied and would recommend the venue for smaller parties. The dance floor was large enough for the guests. Keep up the good work!

We always enjoy going to Hartmanns Wirtshaus. The food is very tasty, but at the same time you can also just have a drink in a larger group - almost like you used to in the classic pubs. The atmosphere is pleasant, the store is always busy and yet relaxed. The classic, “bourgeois” dishes are interpreted in a modern way and freshly prepared. We can particularly recommend the apple strudel as dessert and the ProBIER board with five different beer specialties. The large selection of freshly tapped beers is also worth highlighting. Seasonal specialties also provide variety. A nice place to stop off.

A tavern as you wish! Food selection small but nice. The prices are high, but you also get good quality. Portions could still be a little larger. The side dishes in particular, such as fries, were prepared very sparingly. Unfortunately the service is very slow. We had to wait 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Between the dishes there was also a waiting time of 40 minutes for the starter - another 60 minutes for the main course. The dessert, however, was there in 10 minutes. Nevertheless, the service was very nice and attentive when it was at the table. The restaurant was half full within the week. We'll be back!

Phew, sorry, but point 1. The online menu differs from the actual menu. In fact, there is EVEN less choice. Too little. Because you were there with a large group of people, you had to take something that was way overpriced. Portion size is a disgrace for the price. My opinion. There was no drinks menu at all, or at least it wasn't even offered to us. For example, online the cola was a completely different size and a much lower price than we actually got. We weren't asked for a specific size either, just whether zero or normal. Unfortunately, the salad dressing was sour and therefore not edible. No idea what that was. By the way, they weren't asked. Schnitzel Full of fat in places and a tiny bit of fries with a tiny dollop of ketchup. If you looked up, webs of dust fluttered in the wind. Not that appetizing either. 2 schnitzels and 3 cokes almost 80€. And for the fact that it wasn't even that great. Unfortunately it's not worth another visit for us. But service is very nice.

Before I said: You can hardly do more with an old inn. Appealing combination of solid tradition and fine cuisine with its own signature. The highlight: the old bowling alley has also been preserved. The food and the quality of the food is always top. But at least the side dishes could have been a little larger... the price is perfectly fine for this great upscale cuisine, but the quantity is a bit small...

Update October 2024: We gave Hartmann's Wirtshaus another chance. And lo and behold: it works! We've even been there a few times now and are really satisfied, even if - like many other restaurateurs - they are struggling with a lack of staff. Once we hadn't made a reservation (again) and had already left the restaurant when the manager ran after us and said "Hey, I'm a restaurateur, I can't let a guest go - we'll find something for you". And THAT is the right attitude for me! Then I wait 10 minutes longer for food - including sausage - and I can bridge the waiting time with a beer. Sunday, a quarter to eight: "Sorry, the kitchen is already closed." Yes then: sorry for you, no sales today.

Unclear pricing policy, Our question as to whether the currywurst (for 10 euros) was served with fries was answered in the affirmative. However, another 6 euros extra was charged for the fries, which was not mentioned anywhere, let alone mentioned in the menu. Including mayonnaise, the price for the currywurst was around 17.50 euros! Otherwise nice atmosphere, but as a guest you feel cheated.

We recently stopped by Hartmann's Wirtshaus and spent a lovely evening here. The ambience inside is quite cozy and furnished in keeping with the concept. The service can be improved somewhat, but it's fine in itself, apparently new service staff have been trained. The food here is really delicious and recommended! The beer selection is also not run of the mill and it's worth being a little brave and trying something different.

Unfortunately, the inn does not adhere to agreements and reservations. I had reserved the bowling alley for my birthday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. so that I could go bowling with friends and family, eat something and of course drink a few drinks. After about an hour, I was told that the next group was coming in 1.5 hours and we had to leave. When I said that we had reserved the bowling alley until 8 p.m., the landlord told me that there must be a misunderstanding. The bowling alley is always reserved for 2.5 hours. So we then had to move into the large guest room with everyone else. As compensation, I was fobbed off with the promise that the bowling alley would not be charged and the coffee would be on the house. To be honest, peanuts in comparison, but clearly: nice gesture. When I finally wanted to pay, there was no sign of the landlord and the waitresses didn't know anything. It was probably a misunderstanding too. So I still paid for the coffee and the bowling alley. A guest brought a cake as a surprise. A special phone call was made beforehand to see if that was okay. When the cake arrived, a plate fee of 35 euros was charged. For 15 guests. Probably also a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, the evening wasn't at all what I had imagined. Because we moved out of our own room with the bowling alley, where we moved around a bit and stood together while bowling, we had to sit at a large table in a corner. Unfortunately, this severely deteriorated the mood. Overall, the way Hartmann's Wirtshaus works has resulted in many unnatural pauses and processes. Bowling wasn't comfortable either, as we were very rushed through the 2.5 hours. Overall, I didn't have the impression that I was a guest who was trying to have a nice evening. I had the impression that my guests and I were put through a standard program in order to cash in at the end. I paid 600 euros for the evening and was very disappointed. I wouldn't host a celebration here again. And if there is no other option, I would get all agreements in writing. Overall, there are too many misunderstandings to be able to plan anything reliably.

Wir waren hier zum Geburtstag meines Sohnes mit der ganzen Familie zum Abendessen. Obwohl das Lokal knacke voll war, weil die Bedienung freundlich und insgesamt waren die Wartezeiten vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt absolut, frische, selbst gemachte Gerichte auf den Punkt gegart, liebevoll angerichtet und stimmig abgeschmeckt. Eine kleine Karte, ein Tagesgericht und eine kleine Bierauswahl haben den Abend abgerundet. Wir waren sehr zufrieden, ein Dankeschön auch an Personal, gern immer wieder.
