Balkan Restaurant Derventa in Bochum

Our new favorite restaurant. So delicious, and the owners are incredibly nice. The mixed grill and steak platter are my favorites. I'll definitely be treating myself there more often in 2026. I always call ahead, but I don't think it's necessary during the week.

I've eaten here several times with my parents, and it's always been fantastic. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, the menu offers a wide selection, and the staff is friendly. If you have questions about certain dishes on the menu because you're unfamiliar with them, you'll receive a helpful answer. I highly recommend a visit! 👍

The Balkan Restaurant feels like a journey back to the 80s and 90s. A dining room with individual booths, separated by timber framing and shingle roofs, welcomes visitors. Everything is old, but in good, well-maintained condition. It truly feels like stepping back in time. The menu features classic Balkan dishes at surprisingly moderate prices. The portions are generous, and the quality and taste are excellent. No modern frills, just the way you remember it from childhood. Refreshingly down-to-earth. The staff are friendly, attentive, and courteous. They take care of their guests in every way. Anyone who wants to dine like they remember from their childhood will be in good hands here.

Very friendly, with a rustic, old-fashioned decor but a very pleasant atmosphere. Delicious and plentiful food, especially nothing overcooked. We'll be back.

The food is absolutely impeccable and delicious! Whether it's steak, lamb, or a mixed grill, everything is highly recommended! The only downside is that the restaurant is a bit dated, looking "dusty" and "old-fashioned." We didn't like the transparent protective film over the tablecloths at all.

Unfortunately, unfortunately, I used to be able to rate it like this: Good value for money, tasty, always filling, friendly service, but the best thing is the pancake for dessert if you've ordered a main course. It's on the house, instead of a schnapps. Today, unfortunately, like this: I ordered a plate of food with pepper sauce, pointed out that it couldn't be mushroom sauce. Of course I got mushrooms, the "server" had a big, unfriendly, rude mouth and told us that if we made a mistake, it would be our problem. For the sake of peace, I ordered more pepper sauce. If we had waited for it, the food would have been cold. Pepper sauce on the bill, no pancake, no goodbye... Let's stick to that, we won't be coming back, and I recommend to everyone to avoid this place. Anyone who behaves like that has no business in this industry.

The restaurant still has the old rustic charm of the 80s; the only thing missing is a bowling alley in the basement...the service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, the meat was very tender and exactly as ordered.

Today pure nostalgia, delicious food, large portions and very friendly staff. It brings back memories, it's nice that it exists. Keep it up!!!

Incredibly delicious food. Grill plates and taxi plates were tested and found to be very good. Small, cute restaurant, also suitable for takeaway. Parking spaces can be found in the residential area on the side of the road. The staff is super friendly. We'd love to come back!

A very inconspicuous restaurant from the outside, the inside is surprisingly old pub look, but it looks very cozy and inviting, you feel very well looked after there, the boss and the staff are very accommodating and you hardly have to wait if it does happen If this is bridged with a little schnapps, each place is separated from each other, so you can chat relaxed with your companion. The food leaves nothing to be desired, the meat is always of great quality and very tender. Special requests are also taken into consideration.

Rustic atmosphere, which unfortunately suffers somewhat from plastic tablecloths and the tinkling slot machine. Service was nice, but always a few minutes late, even though we were the first and only ones in the shop. The food was generally good, there was plenty of it and the chops and skewers were particularly tasty. Unfortunately, the minced meat items were tasteless and a bit dry, which is a shame with Cevapcici in the Balkan restaurant. I also ordered the Balkan cheese with bread as a starter, which turns out to be a small portion of cheese with a little salad and dry white bread, for a solid €12.50, which brings us to my biggest point of criticism: the prices. The starters seemed at least €5 too expensive in quantity, the main courses also felt €3-4 too high for what you got. Overall, I would definitely come again as the people are nice and the food is quite tasty. But then I would forego an appetizer.

My absolute insider tip in Bochum Langendreer. Great restaurant with very friendly staff. The furnishings are a little old-fashioned, but that creates a cozy atmosphere and makes you feel like you've been transported back to days gone by. I can only say positive things about the food, I would even say that it is the best restaurant in Langendreer and the surrounding area. The steak plate is awesome!!! And all the other Balkan dishes are absolutely delicious too! I like to come here again and again.

We spontaneously went to eat in the Balkans today because of the long waiting time in the clinic. We only had 40 minutes, we said so in advance and then a delicious meal was conjured up for us in a short time. Thank you and see you soon.

This restaurant reminds me of times in the former Yugoslavia. A really delicious meal that I used to love and still love. It has the old charm of Konobas in the former Yugoslavia. The food is worth the money and tastes really wonderful. The portions are large and the prices are really normal and reasonable. You will receive friendly service and a small conversation is also possible. If you value really good Croatian food and like an old-fashioned atmosphere, you should eat there. A reservation is necessary and unfortunately no card payment is possible.

Wunderbares Restaurant mit super Essen und einen Total netten Chef

Wir wurden direkt wieder weggeschickt (zu zweit), da kein Tisch mehr frei sei. Es wurden auch keine Anstalten gemacht zu schauen ob zeitnah was frei wird. Insgesamt fragwürdiger und unfreundlicher Umgang mit (Neu)Kunden. Wir waren das erste mal da und wohl auch das letzte mal. Schade.

Wir waren dort mal wieder mit Freunden essen aber es war nicht mehr so wie sonst haben sehr lange auf unser Essen gewartet über 1Stunde und das geht garnicht ob wir noch mal dort hingehen wissen wir noch nicht

Essen top, Ambiente sehr rustikal und düster

Wir sind durch Zufall in dieses Restaurant eingekehrt und es war ein Volltreffer! Mittagstisch am Sonntag gibt es ab 12Uhr bis 14:30. Es ist nicht besonders groß, aber gut besucht. Wir hatten Glück, dass wir noch einen Tisch bekommen haben. Das Preis -Leistungs Verhältnis war ganz gut. Die Portionen sind recht großzügig und ansprechend serviert. Geschmacklich- Top. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich, auch wenn es etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist und etwas an die 80er Jahre erinnert. Es ist sehr sauber und das Personal sehr freundlich. Nächstes mal fahren wir mit Freunden hin um das gute Essen zu genießen.

Kleines aber feines Restaurant... Essen super frisch, super schnell und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis absolut Fair.

Das war wie immer-sehr gut. Durch die kleineren Nischen im Gastraum sitz man sehr ruhig und kann sich tatsächlich noch unterhalten, ohne sich anzuschreien. Ist unser bevorzugtes Restaurant.

Freundlich wie immer. Die Qualität der Speisen sind immer gleich sehr gut. Man geht auf jeden Fall immer satt und zufrieden nach Hause. Kommen immer gerne wieder und freuen uns aufs nächste mal. Es ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen ein Tisch zu reservieren.

Einfach viel zu lange auf unser Essen gewartet... Wenn viele Tische belegt sind, dann muß auch eine angemessene Bedingung vor Ort sein.

Nette Wirtsleute, aber auch hier hat Corona Wirkung hinterlassen. Essen ist gut.

Die Gerichte sind sehr lecker. Bedienung (der Chef) sehr freundlich, die Angestellte eher weniger. Preise sind Fair, jedoch das Ambiente sehr altbacken und abgelebt; man sollte in neue Tische und Stühle investieren. Rundum aber zu empfehlen!

Immer herrliches „jugoslawisches“ Essen, und vor allen Dingen noch ein klassisches „Zigeunerschnitzel“. Auch das gut gezapfte Veltins schmeckt spitze.

Das Essen war in Ordnung die Portionen recht groß. Das Personal war freundlich aber nicht sehr aufmerksam. Beim eintreffen haben wir einen Muffigen Geruch wahr genommen. Das Ambiente ist ziemlich altmodisch nicht gemütlich.

Jederzeit gerne wieder. Sehr freundlicher und lustiger Chef, schnelle und funktionierende Bedienungen. Fisch und Fleisch waren perfekt zubereitet und das zu fairen Preisen. Zum Schluss aufs Haus die Julischka und der Nachtisch. Was will man mehr?

Seit Jahren eines meiner Lieblings-Restaurants. Der Chef ist immer da und als Gast wird man sehr sympathisch bedient. Die Speisen sind geschmacklich auch immer genau unser Ding. Ich hoffe dass der Chef mit seinem Team noch viel Jahre unsere Gaumen erfreuen kann. Kegeln kann man auch noch!

Balkan Küche, wie man sie sich wünscht. Die Gaststätte selbst hat mich zurück in die 80er katapultiert, aber trotzdem nett. Die Nachspeise, Palatschinken mit Vanilleeis, kam als Extra vom Haus. Und das alles zu sehr humanen Preisen.

Schon seit ein paar Jahren das Standard-Lokal wenn mit der ganzen Familie Essen gegangen wird. Bisher habe ich noch nichts gegessen, was mir nicht geschmeckt hat Und wir sind auch immer sehr freundlich bedient worden, daher gibt es hier von mir 5 Sterne.... Ich würde noch ein Bonusstern für den Nachtisch geben, darauf freuen wir uns jedes mal aufs Neue, aber das ist ja leider nicht möglich ;)

Tolles Restaurant! Fahren extra von Gevelsberg nach Bochum-Langendreer um bei Derventa das Essen zu genießen. Heute die Balkan Platte für 2 Personen gehabt. Superleckeres Fleisch mit Pommes und Reis, dazu einen leckeren frischen Salat! Was will man mehr. Chef und alle Mitarbeiter immer super freundlich. Vielen Dank für einen schönen Abend!!!

Große Auswahl, sehr lecker, freundliches Personal.

Hier gibt es das Beste Fleisch. Egal ob Schnitzel, Medallions, Steak oder Fillet, alles ist super zubereitet und schmeckt genial. Manchmal ist das Steak/Fillet etwas weiter durch als gewünscht, schmeckt aber trotzdem super. Wenn man freundlich drauf hinweist, bekommt man das Fleisch genau perfekt. Absolute Empfehlung.
