Good food and good service. Despite two large parties, the staff was friendly and always approachable.

We celebrated our small but lovely civil wedding reception at the FORSTHAUS and are more than happy to have chosen this location! The advance arrangements were so pleasant and pleasant; you can tell you're working with people who bring a wealth of experience and passion. The food and service were first-class. Our guests were also thrilled. The playground, in particular, was a real plus for the children and therefore also for the parents! We went to eat at the Forsthaus with the family today for my husband's 40th birthday. We weren't familiar with it before, but everyone was very nice when we made the reservation on the phone! Whether small or large, we were treated incredibly well. Bonus: dogs are allowed in the restaurant, they are given a bowl of water without asking, and are not just tolerated but welcome. The food was amazing, and so plentiful that we "had to" take some home. Bottom line: great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, friendly to both small and large people, as well as the dogs. Thank you so much! We'll definitely be back!

The food is delicious and of decent quality for the price. Unfortunately, the service significantly dampens the overall impression. Wait times are very long – we had to wait up to 25 minutes for a nightcap coffee. When we pointed this out, the coffee was removed from the bill, but the response was unfriendly. We won't be coming back.

Yesterday, I was at the Forsthaus Bochum as a wedding officiant to marry a couple, and I was simply enchanted by this beautiful location. In the middle of the forest, but with a large parking lot right nearby – simply perfect! Everything has been prepared with incredible love, and the space for the ceremony under a very stylish tent roof is perfect! Surrounded by greenery, with stylish seating behind the house. From the very first moment, you can tell how much heart and passion has gone into designing and running everything. This included, among other things, the warm welcome from Anne, the manager, who asked me if I needed anything...the service staff was just as friendly and promptly helpful. All around, fantastic – that's what service and hospitality should be!

Yes, the Forsthaus. It used to be great. Great food, superb service, and the location is lovely anyway. Unfortunately, not much of that remains. The food was really nothing special, and the service was really bad. The atmosphere, once quiet and relaxed, was dominated by unruly children and their equally unruly parents. Too bad I can't go there anymore.

I was invited here for a business lunch with colleagues. A very nice spot "in the middle of the woods." Unfortunately, the parking lot is a gravel road with potholes, so be careful when parking! The food was fantastic, as was the service. Special requests were fulfilled immediately, and we were constantly asked for drinks. Everything was great. The fact that the restaurant was almost full outside shortly after opening speaks volumes, I think. I would eat here again anytime if I'm in the area again.

Saturday afternoon in early August, after a walk through the Weitmarer Holz forest; we were two elderly couples, thirsty and hungry. Both our needs were met with great care. The staff were very attentive and eloquent (!). The ambiance—inside and out—is beyond reproach. P.S.: An insider tip for all grandparents with grandchildren: the adventure playground "one floor up"!

Good food – service? A fine art of embarrassment. We visited the Forsthaus with friends today – with the idea of spending a cozy evening with good food. And the food? Yes, it was indeed good! Not a culinary firework, but solid, well-prepared – nothing to complain about. But what followed was service of a special kind. We entered the restaurant at 6:05 p.m. At 7:50 p.m. – mind you, the last bite was still on our forks – the restaurant manager came to our table with the charming question (verbatim!): "How long do you intend to stay? We'd like to reserve the table for guests from the terrace." Oh, and we're sorry for making the mistake of actually using the table for dinner. The appearance of the obviously overwhelmed restaurant manager was more reminiscent of improvisational theater than professional gastronomy. All in all: great food, terrible service. However, if you like unintentional comedy, you're in the right place. We, in any case, are satiated after this performance – in every sense of the word.

An absolutely perfect location for me. We had a wonderful table for 6 people outside...a fantastic selection of dishes...the veal schnitzel with chanterelles was truly divine...and our male server was unbeatable 👏 very courteous and attentive, but even better was his friendly manner and wonderful sense of humor 👍Thank you again for that...continued success and best wishes for the future💙🤍

In short: extremely delicious and a cool outdoor terrace!

I had the misfortune of ordering a Wiener Schnitzel with cranberries and connoisseur fries. The schnitzel's rich breading was cooked in used fat. The accompanying salad must have been sitting for a while (perhaps from lunch?) and was swimming in (cheap?) greasy oil. The "fries" were nothing more than dry French fries, and there was a teaspoon of cranberries. Upon request, more were supposed to be delivered, but they never arrived by the end of the meal. The jovial-seeming waiter said that such a meal should simply be returned in the future—in other words, it was my fault for eating it all. When I asked at the end whether some small compensation had been possible, the waiter claimed that I was the only dissatisfied schnitzel customer, and that the kitchen management (!) had decided not to show their gratitude. Conclusion: no more Wiener Schnitzel, return the food immediately. P.S. My companion, however, was completely satisfied with her dishes.

Nice beer garden with a playground for children. It's also very cozy inside. Overall, a great restaurant for the whole family. A seasonal menu, as well as good classics like Wiener Schnitzel (originally made with veal).

We celebrated our wedding at the Forsthaus and would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne and the entire Forsthaus team once again, but also to offer our absolute recommendation to other couples who might also be looking for a location for their wedding or celebration. From the very first contact, everything was perfect. We immediately felt at ease and quickly realized we were in the right place. Everything was discussed and planned with us in advance, and everything was transparent and honest from the very beginning. We were also completely satisfied on the big day itself. Everything was exactly as we had imagined. The food was absolutely fantastic. I would say it was the best food I've had at similar celebrations so far. Our guests confirmed this. The team was also really great. Everyone had a smile on their faces the entire evening and was always attentive, even late into the night. Afterward, we received nothing but enthusiastic feedback from our guests.

Excellent food and great service! I can only recommend the restaurant to everyone! There's something on the menu for everyone and you'll be well looked after - plus the location of the restaurant is great. Very nice to sit both outside in the beer garden and inside.

The price/performance ratio is absolutely right here. We've also had a great service team for years and the new spritz bar freshens up the forestry house for the summer.

The service and ambience was first class! However, the price/performance ratio doesn't match at all! Completely exorbitant prices for little on the plate. There were four of us and we were all very disappointed with the food, little on it, cold and sometimes tasteless. For example, you had to look for truffles on the truffle fries. I first contacted the forester's house by email, but apart from blah blah, there was no response from them. The customer is no longer king. It's a shame that good gastronomy has once again become extremely poor.

We sat in the beer garden/lounge part of the Forsthaus. Drinks and service there were impeccable. You order your food using a QR code. We ordered currywurst fries and had to wait over 40 minutes for them. In the end the currywurst came to the table cold. The currywurst fries tasted good but they probably would have been very good warm. Because it was the middle of the day, there was hardly anything going on during normal restaurant operations, which would have justified the long waiting times. There was a wedding party in the main house, but if I can't keep this going alongside normal operations, I would recommend a closed party and ceasing restaurant operations for the time being.

I attended a wedding reception on April 11th and was pleasantly surprised. The forester's house is highly recommended. The team is extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely evening! It couldn't be better!

A Wonderful Restaurant in Bochum

We celebrated our wedding in the Forsthaus and were totally thrilled. First of all, the location is super nice! The tables were beautifully set by the staff and according to our ideas. The service was also courteous, attentive and professional. The highlight for us was the food. All guests gave us feedback about how enthusiastic they were about it. It was also possible to discuss the menu with the chef in advance. We also thought that was very good. The food was always outstanding during our visits. Overall, it was a great day and we can only recommend the Forsthaus, especially if you value very good quality cuisine.

Yesterday we were at the Forsthaus again and the food and service (thanks to Tim) were once again completely convincing. The starter, main course and dessert were very good in terms of quality and taste at an absolutely fair price. We'll be back soon.

My wife and I really love red deer game dishes. Here we tried such dishes and were very satisfied with both the quality of the food and the service. This definitely wasn't the last time we came here!

It's been a while, but definitely worth mentioning. We celebrated our civil wedding at the Forsthaus Bochum and it was beautiful, everything was perfect and even exceeded our expectations. Everything worked smoothly, including between the Klodt and Forsthaus florist teams. The food was perfect. Thank you very much, we will come back regularly!

Two visits during Christmas time. The first time only one burger was cold. The second time, out of 8 meals, there were four complaints. Not a good rate if you look at the price development of the main courses (30 - 45 €). Without asking, triplets were delivered instead of mashed potatoes for two dishes. The pork cheeks came with a very manageable amount of meat. Red cabbage with venison and goose was completely over-salted - in the second attempt it was seasoned more strongly to distract from the salt. The goose was very crispy on the outside (tasty), but correspondingly dry on the inside. Jus with Gnas was great. The declaration "today is our last day" is outrageous given the price level. I expect decent food with decent service. Turning the heating down around 8 p.m. did the rest. We declined the dessert offered as compensation; there was no mention of a reduction in the price. It's a shame, the best location is of no use if the kitchen and service don't meet the standard.

We had the boss's recommendation and no other recommendation was great, pasta was unfortunately a disaster. Very good service!

Netter Empfang nach kurzfristiger telefonischer Reservierung. Gemütlicher Tisch im vorderen Bereich nahe der Theke. Gut gezapftes Fiege Bier und relativ flott wurde auch das Essen serviert. Ich hatte Ochsenbäckchen ! Die waren echt super mit einer tollen Jus. Lange nicht so gut gegessen. Preislich auch völlig ok.

We celebrated our civil wedding in the forester's house almost 2 weeks ago. From the planning to the actual celebration, everything was tip top, everything was as previously discussed, even more beautiful. The food was great and the service was terrific. All the staff are very friendly, caring and helpful. A special thank you goes to Sebastian and Jan for their excellent support with the planning and to Henri who spoiled us with great service on our day, thank you very much for that.

Wir haben unsere Standesamtliche Hochzeit zum Mittagessen im Forsthaus ausklingen lassen und das war die beste Entscheidung, die wir hätten treffen können. Das Personal hat sich vom ersten Moment an, um uns alle gekümmert. Wir waren 23 Gäste und wurden zuerst mit einem Sektempfang begrüßt, für die Herren gab es Fiegebrettchen. Danach kamen die ersten Speisen und es wurden uns Oliven und Brot mit Aioli-Dip serviert, sodass der Magen sich schon einmal einstimmen konnte. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Wienerschnitzel, Schweinefilet und das Lachs-Teriyaki und ich kann nur sagen, dass es unglaublich gut war! Alle Gäste waren hellauf begeistert. Als Dessert gab es Schokoküchlein, Dreierlei Sorbet und Creme Brulée. Wir können sagen, dass wir rausgerollt sind, weil es so lecker war. Das Personal war sehr herzlich und wusste immer im richtigen Moment Getränke nachzufüllen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Where should I start and where should I end? We were guests here on August 24th, 2024 for a wedding. In short, everything here is correct from A to Z. The location is in a great location and very harmoniously furnished. The food was fantastic, both the grill buffet and the currywurst, which was served late at night. I would particularly like to praise the service team who were always present and super friendly. I would also give 10 stars here.

I made a request for a celebration with 80 people using the contact form on the homepage - no response. Then I went to the restaurant in person and raised my concerns with the service staff, as the manager in charge was probably in conversation. The details were taken and I was given a card with buffet suggestions. Unfortunately, the managing director as the person responsible for the organization did not get in touch again. I have now booked somewhere else. Amazingly unprofessional behavior that speaks for itself......!

Went here spontaneously because we saw that there was a playground so the children were kept busy. It was a very good decision, and not just because of the playground. Apart from the vegan curry, can you offer any other specific dishes for a vegan family? We would have liked to visit you with the in-laws, but your map looks more like a "slaughterhouse" than a forester's house... a little scary. If you want to appeal not only to seniors but also to young, responsible and future-oriented families, or if you want to enable seniors and young families to come together at your home, you should perhaps make your offering a little more diverse and less barrier-free. Not everyone eats animal products these days. Good luck with it!

We went to the Forsthaus beer garden for the first time today and loved the food. We were skeptical at first because there is something coming from every direction. But we thought the food was great. Expensive.....But delicious. We also liked the service and the presentation

If you want to eat stylishly and more upscale, this is absolutely the right place for you.

Very nice restaurant with a very nice beer garden. There is also a great playground for families with children. The menu is not huge and not run of the mill, but the quality is very good. The service is really very friendly and accommodating. You should reserve a table because the forester's house is always busy.

We celebrated our wedding in the forester's house. With 115 guests, we opted for the exclusive option so that we had the whole store to ourselves. The advice in advance was extensive and we received excellent support from start to finish (ask for JAN!). At no time was any money borrowed from our pockets. We were able to implement our decoration wishes as we wished, as well as our food ideas. We opted for the grill buffet and the food was fantastic: pulled pork, lamb salmon, Kikok chicken, mayor's beef fillet, vegetarian alternatives. The guests were completely happy, there was something for everyone. Everyone was also 100% satisfied with the attentive, friendly and good-humored staff. We would celebrate our wedding there again at any time.

Unfortunately we couldn't use the terrace due to bad weather. There were several large groups inside, so it was very noisy. The terrace is still great, especially for children. There is a huge playground. All in all great and would be happy again.

We decided to celebrate our wedding in a small group (31) in the Forsthaus. We were given fair advice from start to finish, so that an unforgettable day was always our priority. With a free wedding and a pre-selected menu, it was an indescribably wonderful day. The food was simply great and every guest enjoyed it. The initially inconspicuous gravel area was decorated and served as a magical wedding ceremony. The service was absolutely fabulous, discreet, yet always present and friendly. In addition, there would have been enough space in the hall for 15 additional guests with whom you could celebrate your special day dancing together. Every wish was fulfilled and every worry was quickly taken away. The Forsthaus is absolutely suitable for such events and I can really recommend it to everyone.

Today we had lunch in the forester's lodge with a slightly larger group. We haven't all felt so well received and "welcome" in a long time: The taste of the food is simply at a very high level, we enjoyed it fabulously. The menu has something for everyone, or is intended for everyone: meat lovers, vegetarians, children... The service from the courteous staff is also very attentive, you can tell that a great team enjoys working there. I would particularly like to emphasize the child-friendliness, there are high chairs and a great outdoor playground. We'd love to come back!

We had our free wedding ceremony in the forester's house. We would choose the location again and again for our wedding. Great staff who were very friendly and accommodating to every guest. We arrived quite spontaneously on May 1st without a reservation. Stumbled in here around 7 p.m. and found a pretty busy beer garden. Nevertheless, even though we initially just wanted to linger for a while with a drink, we were provided with a really cute table that was quickly cleared away. Wonderful ambience, you look into the green trees and enjoy pure nature. The service was perfect, nice and friendly communication with the responsible employee. The drinks chosen and the delicious tarte flambée that we then ordered absolutely contributed to the well-being in this location. Absolutely recommended for people who have a sophisticated lifestyle Prefer gastronomy. Always my pleasure. Thanks!!

Unfortunately a really big disappointment. Meat cold or not medium and of poor quality, asparagus hard and hollandaise boiled until curdled. The service was confusing or seemed unprofessional... it could only be a slip-up, otherwise the store would no longer exist, but it was still super disappointing and incomprehensible. Kind regards

Update 2024: Nothing has changed, the food is still great, the service is really great too! 2023: Highly recommended! Very tasty traditional and new food and beautifully presented. The portion sizes vary depending on the dish. The prices are as usual these days, that is, slightly increased. Very friendly service, everything runs promptly, the food is served to several guests at the same time. The parking lot is across the street. Lots of play opportunities for children outside during the day. The women's toilet is on the first floor, so if you have difficulty walking, please ask in advance whether the toilet on the ground floor can be used. All in all: We would love to come back!

It is a beautiful house on the edge of the Weitmarer Holz. Great playground for children. Parents can enjoy the delicious food and watch the children. Good price-performance ratio.

Unfortunately we were sitting in a draft and we were freezing. For the high price, the seating was really uncomfortable.

Went to the forester's house as part of a professional meeting. Food was very tasty, service was very good. As a Bavarian you like to drink Bavarian beer, but the Zwickel from Fiege was excellent ;) Keep it up…

We were there for the comedy crime dinner. The show was generally very entertaining... The starter and dessert were also OK, just very clear... But what people were thinking about the main course is inexplicable to me! Tranches of Mayor's Piece. So, beef, from the tenderest cut. OK, BUT the whole thing looks like it's cooked, soft, smells like raw meat, with the same jus and beans wrapped in bacon, completely without spices. Yes, I really have to say it, it was disgusting! We were there for the first and last time.
