HAPPENPAPPEN in Hamburg

I had a dish from the lunch menu there for lunch. It was delicious and the portions were plentiful. The staff were super friendly and quick to respond when I needed anything. You can sit outside in the shade.

Always good! Everything's vegan – my personal favorite is the chocolate cherry cake :)

The menu is smaller, but there's something for everyone, including more unusual dishes. There was a bit of a wait to order, but the food arrived super quickly, tasted excellent, and the service was super friendly!

Great veggie food in a nice and laid back location. Food is good but portions are not super big and I paid €20 for a bowl and a lemonade, which seemed a bit too high for what you get...

During our trip to Hamburg, we were quickly looking for a place where we could eat vegan and gluten-free. "HAPPENPAPPEN" was quickly recommended to us, and we were thrilled. From the very beginning, the service was always friendly and attentive. Bringing our dog along was no problem, and they even brought a water bowl. The food was amazing. Very tasty and incredibly filling. The value for money is definitely good! There are also recipes suitable for celiac patients, and they even offer gluten-free pasta, among other things. The restrooms are very clean and have a cool design. Ultimately, we were pleasantly surprised and absolutely thrilled. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back!

I have to say it tastes of air, disappointment and the lingering bitterness of wasted time because the food I ordered never arrived.

Super delicious food and very nice service! Happenpappen knows how to make vegan food alright! The food took awhile to arrive, though, so don't go here if you're pressed for time. I'd also recommend to make a reservation, as the place is quite popular, it seems (I understand why, though!)

The quiche was very good, the side salad barely had any dressing on it. Lunch price: €13.90, which is something you have to be willing to pay. I was also not informed about a €1.90 surcharge for a small tzatziki dip, which is unacceptable.

Stumbled upon this place during lunch time and ordered the grilled cheese sandwich. Although it was well made, the food was not to my taste. Considering the small portion I think it was fairly expensive.

Overall: Cozy and Tasty Vegetarian/Vegan spot but with smaller portions. A warm, welcoming place with a calm vibe. The food was fresh and full of flavor—simple, satisfying vegan dishes done right. Portions were on the smaller side, but everything tasted great. Perfect for a relaxed meal, just don’t come starving! (Else just order more ;))

I discovered Happenpappen spontaneously while passing by because I had an appointment nearby. I ordered a small curry bowl and an iced matcha latte, and both were delicious! The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I'll be back :)

Vi besøgte Happenpappen i St. Pauli – en lille, autentisk vegetarrestaurant med mulighed for at sidde både inde og ude. Stedet har en afslappet atmosfære, og betjeningen var venlig og effektiv. Vi fik en vegetarburger, som var veltillavet og serveret uden lang ventetid. Maden var enkel og velsmagende – et rigtig fint sted at nyde et grønt og afslappet måltid i hyggelige omgivelser.

It was a bit more expensive, but I've rarely eaten so well. All the ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The location was great, and the service was excellent.

The place is small and cute. I arrived at 12:15 PM on Thursday, and within an hour, the tiny space was so crowded that while the food was absolutely delicious, the experience wasn't pleasant. Regardless, the lunch bowl and vegan cheese are amazing!

We tried the burger and the burger bowl and were thrilled! The food was served very quickly, and we were completely satisfied.

Delicious vegan dishes and a large selection of cakes, super friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. It's just a shame that there's no attractive outdoor seating area on the busy street. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

We went there for the first time, and it was perfectly fine, but nothing more than that. The staff were super friendly and kept a good eye on everything, but the tables could have been cleaned better—they were very sticky, which was really unpleasant. The two burgers (one classic and one bowl) were quite tasty, but the seitan patty was quite dry, and the burger came without any side dish, so the portion was quite small. We ordered potatoes as a precaution. The whole-wheat bun wasn't really our thing. It wasn't exactly cheap, but that's Hamburg, after all. The bottom line: You can go there without hesitation, but we probably won't eat there again; there's too much vegan competition these days.

Delicious vegan food, reasonable prices.

The food was quite good, but the portions were abysmally small. I find €15 for a portion of pasta that fits in my hand a bit cheeky. Perhaps they could offer different sizes here… €20 for a proper portion (twice the size) would be more appropriate. Unfortunately, there was no response to our feedback on site.

Expensive, but very tasty, and the vegan "cheese" was very good. In our case, the wait was incredibly long, but the staff remained friendly.

During our visit to Hamburg, we wanted to try a restaurant we'd never tried before, so we chose HappenPappen. Even though it's relatively unassuming from the outside and more reminiscent of a student bar inside, the food there is really good. I tried the vegetable quiche with chive dip and a slice of carrot cake for dessert. Both were delicious 🤤 All in all, I highly recommend it, especially because of the friendly and attentive staff.

Incredibly delicious! We didn't expect that at all, because the presentation is very “home made”, and that's exactly how it tastes, but just perfectly prepared, both in terms of the combination of ingredients, as well as in spices and consistency. They both had the moussakka and it was really delicious, as was the salad with the incredibly creamy, yet light yogurt dressing. I could eat it every day. Very nice, honest, authentic and helpful service too

Sehr cooles kleines Bistro! Direkt in St Pauli gegenüber vom Bunker. Hier gibt es viele glutenfreie Optionen und auch sonst ist das Essen Mega lecker! Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Unfortunately, the gluten free cake wasn't really separated from the other cake. The furnishings are simple but have charm. The service makes an effort! However, the furnishings as a whole seem ruter-rocked.

Service top & accommodating, food baba, location relaxed, atmosphere casual, prices a bit pricy - but the quality is right. Always worth a detour. 🌻 Afterword: Because guests complained in reviews about the lack of child-friendliness. During my stay today, I sat for an hour behind a family whose child was constantly and loudly kicking the glass with his rubber boot. The service tolerated it, as did the rest of the guests. Unfortunately, the parents most of all. Life is perspective.

Chic, small vegan restaurant with delicious food. We had the bowl and the large salad, both were delicious and really filling. Price, performance is ok. Service was nice. It was just a shame that you had to go in to pay and everything was only cleaned sporadically. There was a lot of herb in the salad, which I personally don't like that much and in my opinion could be replaced with another "more unusual" ingredient. Some bread with the salad and the bowl would have been great. All in all, still great!

Very exciting and varied menu, nice service and really tasty - although unfortunately quite expensive for my taste for the size of the portions, for example just under 15 euros for the Egg Benedict (two toastie halves with (albeit special) toppings are a bit expensive. Still recommended !

Very tasty burgers and potatoes :-) The special burger with potato rosti and cranberries was particularly good.

We dropped in on a reservation-only Advent dinner event. They still kindly accommodated us although we didn't have reservations. The prix fixe menu was excellent as was the service. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, the food of the highest quality, everything was excellent. I especially enjoyed the vegan salmon and the aqua faba chocolate mousse. But it was all on point. I highly recommend this cozy spot for dinner.

A great location -- directly across from the St Pauli Feldstraße stadium where I watched the women's football team play on a very rainy Sunday afternoon. I came in afterwards to warm up, watch the world go by from the window seat, and drink a fresh mint tea which was the most delightful shade of green. A super cool spot, will be sure to visit again if I'm ever in Hamburg!

The food was great. Cool idea that all burger dishes can also be ordered as a bowl. It was a Thursday evening and very crowded. Nevertheless, I would have liked more attentive service.

Went to this place with a lot of expectations. But they were not fulfilled at all. Food didn’t really taste of anything. Although the atmosphere looked nice, in reality it was a pretty bad experience. The inside was crammed with tables, and the acoustics were so bad, it was almost impossible to have a conversation because there was just so much noise. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.

Excellent food! We had the gemuse quiche and grilled cheese. Both were delicious. The restaurant is small, so not many tables. But the staff is friendly and the service is quick. They also do takeout. Recommend to everyone - not just vegans.

HAPPENPAPPEN really sweetened our stay in Hamburg! We tested our way through the menu, from the cauliflower Benedict (new on the menu and highly recommended), the grilled cheese sandwich, the red spice sandwich and the vegetable quiche! Everything was super fresh and delicious! The vegan Swedish apple tart rounded off our visit perfectly, to die for! We also had nothing to complain about with the drinks; you could choose between soy, pea and oat milk. The service was very nice and accommodating ✨ 🌱 Music selection also 5/5! 🎶

La empleada no nos atendió y no nos cobró el dinero, nos vio pagar y luego vino a nosotros cuando nos íbamos preguntando si todo estaba bien, dijimos que todo estaba bien y luego vino con un “noté que no diste propina”. Esto es algo que vemos en los EE.UU. porque los camareros viven de las propinas, pero en Alemania? Dejamos consejos, no si todo está bien o bien, ya que es lo mínimo que podemos esperar. Se dan propinas para un servicio excepcional y este empleado ni siquiera nos sirvió. Tratar de avergonzar a tus clientes para que den propinas es totalmente desagradable.

The menu is very limited on the weekends which is a downside, but the food is absolutely delicious and the service is exceptional, the staff are very friendly and cool.

We had visited here for lunch and ordered a quiche and salad bowl. My mom and I were both satisfied ! (Also my decaffeinated coffee taste was also good) Staffs are very friendly as well in that she tried to explain the menu and gave us enough time to review the menu :) Love to visit here again!

Rather small but well-kept place with a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. We went there for lunch and tried some really tasty quiches. You can understand the attention and research of the cook. Really very friendly staff.

Sitting on the noisy street isn't exactly relaxing. Food is overpriced for the small portion size and the burgers aren't particularly recommended either. (€6 for 6 baby potatoes [served with a French fries-style side dish]). But service was nice. You have to know.

I can't understand the positive reviews. Of course, as a veggie you are happy about meat-free alternatives, but there are better and, above all, cheaper options in Hamburg. The burger really doesn't fill you up and unfortunately the taste was only mediocre. The burger bread was totally dry. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was very nice, although a bit overwhelmed. But you sit so tight that it's really not comfortable.

This vegan restaurant I can only recommend. Food was very tasty and waitress nice. Maybe the price could be lower. On the other hand I think that everything was homemade so taking back.

Small exclusively vegetarian and vegan place a stone's throw from the Planten un Blomen park, but it's a shame that it is located on a very busy road. Better to sit inside even if there aren't many seats. The menu options are limited, recommended for a short stop without too many pretensions. The service is fast and the homemade lemonade excellent.

Vegan food place, mostly sandwiches (large and very delicious🌱💕), I tried the tempeh one and I liked it a lot. I find the price a little excessive for a sandwich, no matter how big it is, the tempeh one cost me €13.50. The place is nice and so is the service, although if you are a tourist you should keep in mind that not everyone speaks English🥴 I would go again if I ever return to Hamburg.
