Wonderful, is it Hamburg humor to name a vegan restaurant after a place where meat is hung?

Ate there once. Tasted very bland and somehow not fresh. Nothing special, I've never had it before. But then I gave it another chance and took the food home...afterwards I got diarrhea. A really strange place, I can't recommend it.

Ich war mit meinem Partner für ein romantisches Dinner im Tassajara – einem wunderbaren veganen Restaurant in Eppendorf, Hamburg, das wir bei einer kurzen Online-Suche entdeckt haben. Ein echtes Juwel für alle, die gesunde, pflanzliche Küche schätzen. Die Atmosphäre war ruhig und sehr angenehm – ideal für einen besonderen Abend zu zweit. Im Tassajara merkt man sofort, dass hier nicht nur der Geschmack zählt, sondern auch das Wohlbefinden und die Gesundheit. Die Speisen sind ausgewogen, nährstoffreich und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Besonders empfehlen können wir das Akaal, die knusprigen Pakoras und die aromatische Antipasti. Absolutely recommended! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I've eaten there twice now and it's always been great. A huge compliment goes to the staff. I have never received such warm and friendly service in any other restaurant. The food is also sooooo delicious. Everything vegetarian or vegan and super freshly prepared and still served quickly. The atmosphere is super cozy and prices are also reasonable. I can really recommend a visit to this restaurant!

An all-around fantastic experience! The door was held open for us as we entered – a small detail that immediately created a warm atmosphere. The service was incredibly friendly, with fascinating explanations of the restaurant's history and the dishes. We were particularly impressed by the generous hospitality: There were many small tastings that introduced us to the diversity of the menu. The selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes is impressive, the prices are fair, and the portions are just right. To finish off, we even got to try a homemade poppy seed cake with pistachio ice cream – a family recipe from the owner's grandmother. Simply delicious! A wonderful family restaurant that we can wholeheartedly recommend. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant and service is quite good, I don’t know why there are very negative or one star review on service. It’s a fusion food, neither completely Indian nor continental. They dort their best to present vegan food in different ways. Our food everything was good, the starters were good. Salad could have been better, fresh. Rocket/ Rucola or grated carrot looked so old like they kept outside for whole day! Prices are quite higher than usual vegan restaurants. Visiting once would be nice though, you will definitely experience different tastes and good one.

Überraschend, lecker und pfiffige Kreationen! Als Fleischesser, der sich ab und zu veganes gönnt, war ich sehr begeistert, und habe nichts vermisst. Daumen hoch!

Waitress was great, and we liked the small appetizer you get for free at the start. The food, however, wasn’t good. It simply did not look appetizing or taste anything of the kind. We had a fake-meat situation with a texture so appalling no one wanted to eat it. The other stuff was alright, but nothing crazy and nothing you’d actually want to pay money for. At the end, the bill didn’t mirror the prices set out in the menu. That was pretty unacceptable. The atmosphere wasn’t nice either. I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either. I have eaten better vegetarian food in Hamburg, with an Asian touch as well.

We had dinner today, the first time in this restaurant. It is a family restaurant, a cultural mix. We ate a seasonal dish with porcini mushrooms, a fantastic combination of Polish and Indian cuisine. We liked Yogi tea to drink and, for dessert, poppy seed cake from grandma's recipe with ice cream. We were served by the owners' son, who was very helpful in choosing the menu. We sincerely recommend it, everyone knows something for themselves. The prices are affordable like in any other restaurant of this type.

Leckeres Essen. freundlich-familiärer Service, wohltuende Portionen (sprich man wird satt)-Eppendorf hat an anderen Ecken manchmal eher Übersichtliches auf dem Teller. 100% Empfehlung. Indisches Amuse Geule, italienischer Hauptgang und das Dessert nach einem Rezept der Oma aus Kattowitz. Wir hatten einen genussvollen Abend.

My meal “Mushroom Meadow” wasn’t seasoned at all, the mushrooms were wobbly. It wasn't a good combination with the cucumber and tomato salad either. I expect a meal like that for €6 from a snack bar on the country road. Here I would have had to pay 20 euros if I had paid myself. The waiter spoke in a totally exaggeratedly friendly way, it was really absurd with “thank you so much” and “have a blessed evening”. I wouldn't go there again.

Some of the best restaurants I been to. The waitress was so kind and good at explaining and making the food match our preferences and allergies (lactose and nuts) almost everything could be vegan and the recipes are local and great. I noted that they also have gluten free options

This restaurant is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Hamburg. Our lunch was great. Inside dining small and intimate.

I have visited several times now, all I can say is that the menu was different every time and it tasted great every time. A kitchen that suits my taste. The rooms are certainly a bit old, but they also have their own charm! Last but not least, friendly service rounds off the visit! We'll definitely be back! It was a special experience for me. The food is a matter of taste, sometimes quite interesting. I thought Brussels sprouts in mustard sauce were great, although I found the cabbage florets themselves a bit too hard. Chard was also something special. The peppers were like they were at home and the "meatballs" were quite dry, as expected. All in all, you can try this if you want to spend a lot of money on little things. The small free shots were very positive and delicious 👍 The juice mixture made from various fruits was also very tasty. The Yogi tea looked outstanding too. Summary: A typical restaurant that can only survive in Eppendort, and has been for many years now.

Four of us were at Tassajara on a Wednesday. The store wasn't particularly busy, but the service was still subpar. The two employees seemed a bit overwhelmed to me. Drink orders were forgotten and not asked for. In our opinion the food was mediocre but very expensive. 180 euros for 4 people without alcohol.

Eines der besten vegetarischen Restaurants in Hamburg, von regional bis international, auch mit indischem Einschlag. Alle Speisen und Säfte sind mit Liebe gemacht, was man auch schmeckt. Wir waren schon mehrfach dort, Mittags und Abends, während der Woche und am Wochenende, zu Zweit oder zu viert. Egal wie oder wann, das Essen ist immer hervorragend. Wäre das der überall erhältliche Standard, wäre ein Leben ohne Fleisch möglich. Ein zudem sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service rundet das kulinarische Erlebnis ab.

Meine Freundin und ich waren das erste mal zum Abendessen hier. Die Bedienung war von Beginn bis zum Ende sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Da meine Freundin vegan ist, war sie glücklich mal mehr als nur 1-2 vegane Gerichte auf der Karte zu haben. Das Essen, das wir anschließend bekamen (sowohl Vorspeise, Hauptgang, als auch Nachtisch), sah nicht nur hervorragend aus, es schmeckte auch wirklich sehr sehr gut. Die Soßen waren bei beiden Gerichten ein Traum! Wir können das Tassajara wirklich nur weiterempfehlen und freuen uns natürlich auch selbst immer mal wieder einzukehren.

Das Tassajara war das erste Restaurant, in dem ich vor 12 Jahren in Hamburg gegessen habe – heute ist es wie ein kleines "Nachhausekommen", wenn ich mein Auberginencurry bestelle.

Wirklich ein sehr empfehlenswertes Restaurant! 5 Sterne, ganz klar

Seit 2005 ist (bzw: war) dies unser unangefochtenes Lieblingsrestaurant! Als wir noch in Hamburg wohnten, waren wir mindestens 1x im Monat hier. Inzwischen wohnen wir außerhalb und waren gestern das erste Mal seit 4 Jahren wieder dort. An einem Freitagabend um halb 6 waren wir 2 von insgesamt 5 Gästen, was uns doch sehr irritiert hat, denn früher war hier abends ohne Reservierung selten ein Platz zu bekommen. Am Tresen arbeiteten 2 Personen und trotz des Gästemangels haben wir 5min auf die Karte warten müssen. Ob wir direkt etwas zu trinken bestellen möchten, wurde gar nicht erst gefragt. Es dauerte dann geschlagene 10min, bis endlich wieder jemand kam, um die Bestellung aufzunehmen. Das uns bekannte leckere Gratis-Brot vorweg gab es gar nicht und als nach 10min die Vorspeise kam, hatten wir immer noch keine Getränke (zur Erinnerung: es war LEER im Restaurant und ZWEI Personen hinterm Tresen!). Nach weiteren 25min kam dann das Hauptgericht (so lange haben wir in der Vergangenheit höchstens warten müssen, wenn es brechend voll war), der längst leere Vorspeisenteller stand zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch immer auf dem Tisch. Niemand kam zwischendurch, um sich zu erkundigen, ob alles in Ordnung sei oder man noch etwas möchte. Das war früher dort Standard, egal wie voll es war. Als wir kurz vor 7 gegangen sind, waren nur zwei weitere Gäste im Restaurant, offenbar ist dieses Restaurant also allgemein nicht mehr sehr beliebt und das wundert uns absolut nicht! Das Essen selbst war geschmacklich so lecker wie eh und je (was allerdings nicht in Ordnung ist: Brokkoliröschen auf die Karte schreiben und stattdessen einen Brokkoli am Stück servieren, nicht bei dem Preisniveau). Allerdings zählt am Ende das Gesamterlebnis und das war durch den nicht vorhandenen Service so unglaublich schlecht, dass wir vermutlich nicht wiederkommen werden. Sehr schade!

This place came highly recommended but everyone’s dishes were extremely salty. Also, the waitress seemed pretty annoyed that we were there, despite being the only customers there on a Wednesday night. We had to ask for the bill several times and they still hadn’t cleared all the plates by the time we left. I really wanted to love this place as I like supporting veggie/ vegan restaurants but unfortunately, I’m not sure I’d return.

Nach langer langer Zeit mal wieder hier. Es ist und bleibt unübertroffen GUT!!! Das meine liebe Community... das ist harte Liebe..im übertragenem Sinne:-) 6 Sterne müsste es hier geben-ohne Übertreibung. Warum? Schon wenn man auf den Gourmettempel zugeht, erahnt man, das wird heiß, dass wird etwas, was man nicht aufhören möchte zu genießen, dass ist etwas was sich im positiven Sinne in den Geschmacksnerven Einbrennen wird. Das ist etwas was man schon dann nicht bereut getan zu haben, bevor man es getan hat.. Sowohl außen ( bei schönem Wetter ) als auch innen, ist diese Lokalität etwas, was einlädt einfach daheim zu sein und sich wohl zu fühlen. Innen ist es sicherlich etwas beengt, aber nicht wirklich schlimm dieser Umstand. Ein Vorredner von mir schrieb, dass ihn genau dies störe weil..er nicht beim Essen beobachtet werden mag.??? Also dann, dann gehe ich grundsätzlich nicht in der Öffendlichkeit essen. Punkt!!! Das Servicepersonal ist die Aufmerksamkeit in Perfektion. Die geborene Freundlichkeit. Und das alles, dass alles ohne das es aufgesetzt oder auswendig gelernt wirkt. Äußerst zuvorkommend. Schlicht, in dem Personal spiegelt sich die Erwartung dessen, wie man sich behandelt wissen möchte. Die Karte! Die Karte liest sich schon wie ein verheißungsvoller Liebesroman, aber einer von der Literatur, wo im Vorwort schon auf die wahre Geschichte hingewiesen wird, dessen Begebenheit hier niedergeschrieben ist. Ich bin seit 36 Jahren Vegetarier, aber diese ausgesuchte Vielfalt und die Art wie sie bereitet werden, hätte ich Euch doch schon gleich am Anfang gekannt. Jedes Gericht ist mit einer Präzision bereitet, dass man ein gemaltes Bild, ein gekochtes Gemälde vor sich wähnt. Hier wird mit einer unfassbaren Liebe gekocht, mit einer Leidenschaft von der man sich berauschen lassen möchte, allein jetzt schon wenn ich nur darüber schreibe, bekomme ich eine Gänsehaut Von herzhaft über deftig, von mild bis süß... jeder kommt hier auf seine Kosten. Die kleinen leckeren "Schmutzies" ( Desserts ) sind allesamt von Hand gemacht und sowas von schweinisch lecker ( was für ein unpassendes Wortspiel im Zusammenhang mit einem Vegetarier ). Unbedingt Platz lassen für diese Verführung, die allesamt mit dem Verzicht von Mehl und Zucker bereitet sind. Die Getränkekarte ist ebenfalls ohne offen gebliebene Wünsche in Erinnerung geblieben. Alles was man kennt und auch erwartet... wird gekrönt von Getränken die es nur sehr selten in anderen Lokalen zu finden gibt. Die Mangolassie ist der Kracher-versprochen. Die Preise liegen leicht über dem Mittelwert und ich bin der Überzeugung-absolut gerechtfertigt. Ohne Wenn und Aber. Nach dem Essen verweilt man noch ein Weilchen, macht sich dann auf den Heimweg und weiß, es gibt ein Nachspiel:-) Wer diesen Genuss nicht ausprobiert, wird nie erfahren was Genuss der Gaumenfreude ist

Sorry, aber ich hatte den Crêpe und er war erstens geschmacklich nicht meins (viel zuviel Soße, lahm gewürzt) und ich hab mir übel den Magen verdorben. Der Service war schnarchig und der Aperol Spritz (Biovariante) war der mieseste, den ich je getrunken habe. Location ganz ok, aber direkt an der Hauptstraße - also sehr laut. Fazit: Kann man mal machen, aber muss nicht noch mal. Für Vegetarier und Veganer aber bestimmt top.

Pro: - Netter Service Contra: - Essen ist einfach und wenig besonders, Seitanbratlinge haben nach verbranntem Fett geschmeckt - Portionen sind allesamt relativ klein - Wartezeiten von 30Minuten für das Gericht - Preis- Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht bei fast 20€ pro Gericht - Restaurant ist ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen - Nur Barzahlung (nichtmal EC) Fazit: Unspektakuläres Essen mit schlechtem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Lieber veganen Speisen in alternativen indischen oder vietnamesischen Restaurants um die Ecke

Endroit exceptionnel. Des plats succulents, un service au top et des prix tout à fait acceptables. J’y retournerai sans aucun doute lors de mes prochains déplacements à Hamburg. Je recommande.

Sehr ansprechendes, hübsches Restaurant,Aussenterrasse/Plätze normal gemütlich. Service sehr nett und immer ansprechbar. Essen waren wir vor 5 Jahren im Winter schon mal, da hatte ich den Eindruck, es war etwas leckerer. Vielleicht, ist das aber auch nur so in Erinnerung, weil die Atmosphäre innen super war, denn es war voll. Diesmal, auch am Samstag Abend, war es leer! Nur 3 Tische draußen besetzt und 2 innen. Aber immer noch klasse, wenn man vegetarisches und vegane, Essen möchte...

Das Restaurant ist gemütlich - innen im Winter wie draußen im Sommer. Das Personal ist stets sehr freundlich, wenngleich der Service wegen offensichtlicher Unterbesetzung - vermutlich wegen Personalmangels - sehr lange braucht. Die Speisen sind frisch zubereitet und es gibt eine Vielzahl an veganen Varianten. Es werden viele interessante Gewürze verwendet. Besonders positiv: Es gibt eine Vielzahl an besonderen nicht alkoholischen Getränken und guten Kuchen. Es ist ein gemütliches Restaurant - viel Bio, gute vegane und vegetarische Speisen

Le restaurant est très sympathique. Le service correct mais froid. Dans notre groupe tout le monde à adoré son plat, sauf moi, mais c’est mon erreur: je n’avais pas remarqué l’indication sauce aigre-douce, alors que je n’aime pas ça. Je commande une carafe de vin, on nous apporte deux verres,… Donc, tout le monde aurait donné 5 étoiles, mais j’en retire une pour le service non convivial.

The food was great (I had the vegetarian steak) and the waiters were very attentive and polite. I liked the ambiance a lot as well. One star down only because of the prices, as I think it was a bit overpriced for what you get.

Super yummi veggie und veganes Essen zentral gelegen. Mittags zahlt man am Tresen und bekommt einen Mango-Lassie-Shot bei der Verabschiedung und abends ist das Restaurant eine ebenso gemütliche Location mit tollen Geschmackserlebnissen. Jederzeit wieder!

Seit ca. 1991 besuche ich dieses Restaurant regelmäßig, und war mit der Qualität bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Zusätzlich zur regulären Karte gibt es Werktags einen günstigeren Mittagstisch, und täglich drei aufwändigere (teurere) Tagesempfehlungen. Die Hauptkarte ist seit jeher unverändert. Eine Auffrischung der Karte sowie der etwas altmodischen Einrichtung würde ich begrüßen. Hund im Restaurant erlaubt. Achtung, nur Barzahlung möglich!

Wir hatten uns sehr auf dieses Restaurant gefreut. Aber leider sind wir ziemlich enttäuscht worden. Das Essen war okay, aber nicht herausragend. Und für das was man bekommen hat, definitiv zu teuer. Sm meisten enttäuscht waren wir vom Service. Das Personal stand nur schwatzend hinter der Theke und hat sich am Tisch kaum blicken lassen. Am Ende dann noch eine fehlerhafte Rechnung und ein „Verrechnen?“ bei der Geldrückgabe.

Etwas enttäuscht, da schlechte Tischzuweisung, obwohl nur 1 Tisch besetzt und wir später feststellten, daß keine Tische reserviert waren. Langjährige Kunden. Qualität nicht wie vor Corona. Schade ☹️

Bin am Mittag im Tassajara gelandet. Mittagsgericht ein Gemüserisotto zum Niederknien. Der Geschmack ist nicht zu beschreiben. Wahnsinnig lecker. Ein fantastisches Restaurant zu jeder Tageszeit.
