Hanse Kogge in Helgoland

We stopped in the restaurant for a short break and had a delicious hot soup which was just what we needed after the long walk on the island and was so well located on the way from Lange Anna to the elevator to the city.

We happened upon this place by chance and were both very impressed. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was very friendly and attentive. We'd be happy to go back anytime.

Lovely little restaurant in the uplands of Heligoland. The focus is on fish dishes. There are also meat dishes and salads. Our food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The prices are slightly high, but quite reasonable for an island. The staff are friendly. Our food was served quickly. You can sit inside in a rustic setting or outside, although there are only a few seats available. The view of the neighboring island in sunny weather is sensational! The restrooms are well-maintained.

"Rustic" probably best describes this small restaurant. If you're looking for fine dining, you've come to the wrong place. However, if you enjoy delicious home-cooked food and warm, friendly service, you'll feel right at home here!

We can't confirm the predominantly positive reviews. The food was only lukewarm. Furthermore, the fried potatoes were cooked in a lot of fat; some weren't even brown. The ambiance of the last room was more like a gazebo. We pointed out the quality of the food. The friendly waitress offered us a shot of schnapps, which we certainly needed after the meal.

We were there for dinner today and had a delicious fish soup first. Then we had tagliatelle with shrimp. Everything was very deliciously seasoned. 👍 And the service was super friendly and excellent.

Wonderfully located in the upper town, you can enjoy views of the bathing island and the lighthouse, as well as the endless water in front of you. You can also enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, beautifully prepared and generously served. The ladies serving are very hospitable and helpful, and strive to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I had the chance to get a seat on the small terrace, which was very pleasant on a day with extreme sunshine. I highly recommend the restaurant. You may need to reserve a table here, as the tables were full both inside and outside.

Our day trip also took us to this beautifully situated restaurant. We received a very friendly welcome and were seated immediately. It was easy to make our selection from the menu. While we waited, we enjoyed the magnificent view of the sea and the dunes. The ambiance is very cozy and creates a sense of well-being. The staff are very friendly. The wait for ordered food and drinks is reasonable. The portion sizes of the absolutely delicious dishes are in no way comparable to a senior citizen's portion. After the ship passage, one really looks forward to a proper meal, which unfortunately here consists mostly of salad. The price-performance ratio is unfortunately not up to scratch.

Super delicious food! The salad was really fresh, the fish was cooked to perfection, and the potatoes tasted amazing. The sweet sauce with lemon was the highlight – incredibly delicious! I highly recommend it.

My family and I went to eat at the restaurant over the weekend. We reserved a table in advance, and everything worked out perfectly. The service was very friendly and quick. Overall, the dishes tasted okay. I had a currywurst with fries; my food wasn't hot. I didn't complain that day, as I was hungry and could at least eat right away. I found the portions rather meager. I could literally count the portion of fries that came with the currywurst on three hands. Neither I nor any of my family members left feeling full. Especially fries, which don't cost the earth, could have been a lot more as a side dish for just under €17.

A wonderful restaurant on the top of the island with a panoramic view of the sea. And the most important thing is the perfectly cooked dishes. I liked everything: the fish soup and the French onion soup and the pasta with shrimps and the cordon blue meat. I especially liked the pasta: the shrimps were moderately fried and the sauce was wonderful. I didn't have to wait long for the waiters, they came right away. I also really liked the non-alcoholic cocktail. Especially in the heat. If I come here again, I will definitely order it again.

Unfortunately, we walked past this restaurant too many times and didn't notice it. Now it is an integral part of our stays on Heligoland!!! By chance we went there for dinner and had an incredibly beautiful and culinary evening. Two days later we were there again and were thrilled again. The staff is super friendly and loving, the furnishings are rustic as you would expect and the food is handcrafted and tastes great and for us it was the best thing we were able to experience on Heligoland. There are not only regional specialties. Be sure to reserve a table. From us 👍👍👍. We would love to come back. Thank you for the great time with you and the delicious food.

Vi fik en Schnitzel. Det var 2 stykker tyndt svinekød, der havde fået en tur i frituren, og dertil pommes fritte. Samt et par stykker salatblad, lidt løg og lidt tomat. Som sovs små poser ketchup. Aldrig fået lignende på en restaurant i tyskland. Rent junk-food.

The Helgoland panfish was very tasty 🥰, I couldn't do much with the mustard sauce. Looked good. I can also recommend the Viennese style schnitzel. The breading was very crispy. The schnitzels are freshly prepared. You can hear it. 😅 We got a great seat, you could look directly at the dunes. 😍

I would have loved to try it, but unfortunately it's closed. The website says it will reopen on March 24, 2024. No information for 2025 was found on the website or the restaurant.

Delicious dishes with a wonderful lake view. The Hanse Kogge restaurant impresses with its cozy, maritime rustic atmosphere and delicious fish dishes (the other dishes are certainly brilliant too). The EierGrogg is an absolute must! The staff is very accommodating and extremely friendly. Definitely recommended!

Today we spontaneously went to the Hanse Kogge for dinner. Until now we have unfortunately always overlooked the restaurant, which is very inconspicuous from the outside. Today we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The view from Obeeland of the North Sea is a dream. The food also really impressed us. One thing is for sure, we will come back at the next opportunity!

We stopped there for lunch and ate Knieper. Two portions were ordered, the quantities were distributed differently on the plates. I can't say whether that was just the way it was for us or whether the size of the portion always fluctuated greatly. The quality was very good.

Bis zum vergangenen Jahr war das Restaurant für uns eine Art Geheimtipp. Bei unserem diesjährigen Besuch wurden wir allerdings sehr enttäuscht! Offensichtlich hat inzwischen der Besitzer gewechselt. Meine Frau und ich haben uns für den Fischteller (je ein kleines Filet von Lachs, Seelachs und Dosch auf Bratkartoffeln mit Salat) entschieden. Das Gericht kostete 25,90 € und dafür sollte man schon etwas erwarten dürfen. Leider schmeckten das Seelachs- und das Dorschfilet irgendwie streng (offensichtlich nicht mehr richtig frisch) und der in einem extra Schälchen gereichte Salat verdiente aufgrund seiner kleinen Menge eigentlich noch nicht einmal eine besondere Erwähnung auf der Speisekarte. Wir haben darum gebeten, uns Salz und Pfeffer zu bringen (sollte in einem Restaurant eigentlich selbstverständlich sein und nicht eine gesonderte Bitte erfordern). Die Bedienung brachte uns eine Salz- und eine Pfeffermühle an den Tisch, die äußerlich so verschmutzt waren, dass man sie nicht anfassen mochte. Trotz extrem vorsichtiger Benutzung haben wir uns die Hände mit einer gelblich-orangenen Schmiere verschmutzt! Zum Glück erst nach Abschluss unseres Essens haben wir festgestellt, dass an der Unterseite unserer Teller noch einige ältere Speisereste hafteten. Man stelle es sich einmal bildlich vor: die Bedienung fasst diese verschmutzten Teller und Gewürmühlen an und serviert mit ihren Händen anschließend auch anderen Gästen ihr Essen. Hier ist dringend ein Einsatz der Gaststättenaufsicht geboten!!! Wir können nur jedem, der sich beim Essen nicht ekeln will, dringend davon abraten, dieses Restaurant zu besuchen!

As a family of four, we still managed to get a place on our week-long holiday in Heligoland, despite a good reservation load, thank you very much for this spontaneity! The food was excellent, 2x Hanse Kogge fish plates and 2x Helgoland panfish in mustard sauce, which was very tasty. I really enjoyed this stay and would like to come back on a future island stay!

I have been coming to the island of Helgoland for many years now. “Die Kogge” has now become my regular restaurant. The food is very good, there is a good selection of fish and meat dishes. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant has charm and fits well with the island theme. The wide view towards the dune is also special. Absolute recommendation from me.

Was on Helgoland again yesterday. I got “InselTicket” (at Eiscafe Curniciello >left in front of the elevator<). There are interesting offers and discounts included! Had to go to the “Hohenfels” perfumery on the Oberland and of course I “stopped” at the Hanse Kogge!! As always, nice service and quick service.

Great restaurant. Great view of the dune. The best panfish fillet I have eaten on the island. The fish is super juicy and tender. The mustard sauce is also very elegant, nice and creamy. Great white wine and everything is great! The only drawback… the toilets. Please fix the urinals, it can't be that difficult. All broken and covered with a “defective” sign, which doesn’t fit with the good impression of the restaurant.

The card is small, but there is something for you. The food was also delicious.
