I'm a little disappointed—I usually go to Rüttenscheid and have always been satisfied. Service was a bit overwhelmed, even though it wasn't particularly busy—food arrived before the drinks. The burgers and fries were relatively bland, and the drinks were good. I'll be going back to Rüttenscheid in the future; the overall package is just right.

friendly staff, delicious burgers, prices a bit too high

We went for lunch as a family with two children on a Friday. Great service, great food, everything was quick, and the menu prices are unbeatable. There's definitely something for everyone, from vegan to gluten-free, vegetarian, to chicken and beef. You can even put together a delicious burger menu (salad is also available). All around, top-notch👍🏼

Regarding the delivery service: Salad, dips, burger, and fries in the same delivery bag. Delivery took 1 hour. The salad was completely spoiled and hot. The dips, which required refrigeration, were also hot. The lettuce on the burgers was wilted. The burgers and fries were cold.

We like going to Hans im Glück. We were unlucky at Kennedyplatz: the entire window was open, and there was a downpour, which made it cold. The food is good, though; the burger is delicious, and the fries are divine! The large vegan selection is also great!

Normally I go for the burger but went “rogue” and got the garlic Parmesan fries, the cauliflower and some drinks. Though I ordered on the phone the service was quick and attentive. One of the best HiG locations

I am really very disappointed. We were given a voucher worth 120 euros. We are from Velbert and wanted to pick up the food at Kennedyplatz because no delivery was offered. It's not a problem as it is quite a distance away. The problem started with the website - we wanted to pre-order online but it wasn't possible because the voucher wasn't accepted there. On top of that, despite registering, nothing was saved in the shopping cart and as soon as you left the site everything was gone again. We tried twice, then gave up, called and tried to place the order over the phone. They said no and told us to come in and order there. I ordered the whole meal a third time because it kept getting deleted and everything was saved as a screenshot. The total was 119.70 I think. Completely annoyed, I went there and gave the order to the actually very nice gentleman in person. After he had recorded everything on his device, I asked how much the price was and he told me that we were suddenly at 140 euros oO?! It turned out that one burger was displayed incorrectly and was much cheaper than expected. Well, after taking the burger out we were back at 116 euros. I got my food after about 20 minutes, which was okay for the order, but it would have been nicer if they had taken it over the phone and I could have saved myself that hassle. But no matter, I returned to Velbert full of anticipation, even though the bags were pretty light for that price, but I didn't think much of it. Hopefully the taste will make up for it. When we got home, hungry and annoyed, we discovered that the fries for our daughter weren't included and an 18 euro burger was missing. You can live with the fact that the place is way overpriced, but not even getting the food you paid for after such an ordeal is really terrible. Nobody was willing to drive to Essen again. It had already taken 3 hours all in all. The food was really tasty, but you can really feel like you've been robbed. I definitely won't eat there again, even though there was nothing to complain about.

The food is absolutely nothing special and way too expensive, but I think you actually go here as a group to be seen.

Okay, Hans im Glück is known for making decent burgers! Today I tried these fried cauliflower sticks... Amazing! A completely new experience 😅🤟 and since the staff is super friendly, the 5 stars are well deserved 🤩

My husband and I had a reservation for 8:00 PM on a Wednesday evening and were greeted promptly. We were able to place our order in less than ten minutes. Both the drinks (the PS Martini - I found the combination of vodka, vanilla, and the shot very tasty) and the food were served promptly, which was a pleasant surprise. The food was tasty and of good quality, and overall, we considered it a solid 4-star experience (the Hans im Glück with extra jalapeno for him and the Cheese & Bacon Burger with golden fries as a side for the two of us). Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive service of the staff, who acted professionally at all times. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant. The ambiance and its decor were reminiscent of a birch forest and created a relaxed mood throughout our stay. Overall, a successful evening with minor drawbacks in terms of the culinary experience, but definitely recommended. P.S. The restrooms were also nicely clean :)

The service is good, the prices are ok and the food was tasty

Waited over 50 minutes for the food, received incorrect advice on the menu (which led to overpayment), received cold fries, and a waiter who couldn't stand his teeth. Thanks, never again.

Incredibly disappointed. Regarding the service, not the food. Besides, it feels quite loud and hectic.

1. We made reservations for 5 people and wanted to sit outside. You then get a small table that is designed for 4 people with an additional stool. Although we requested the larger table, we were informed that other people had already requested it. The group in question only consisted of 3 people. Meanwhile, tables for other groups are pushed together and we were still allowed to sit cramped at the small table. 2. Service takes 30 minutes to take an order. 3. We got the food after a long wait (about 30 minutes) and both the burger and fries were cold. 4. Because we had to wait almost an hour for everything, it got colder outside and we wanted a place in the restaurant because there were still a few places available. The waiter refused us this idea.

Unfortunately, I had severe gastrointestinal problems after my visit today.

Typically Hans in luck. Burgers can be served very flexibly and are super tasty. Very attentive, nice service in a nice atmosphere.

Update from 04/29/25: Unfortunately, the burgers we ordered (2xplay of colors) were relatively bland in taste compared to our previous visits. Gold and sweet potato fries were also no longer convincing with their usual crispiness. It's a shame, maybe the kitchen wasn't having a good day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very nicely decorated restaurant with a wonderful and exceptional menu! They are burgers - vegan, vegetarian and as a meat version. Imaginatively and extraordinarily tasty put together. The service was consistently friendly and professional. We'd love to come back!!!

Nice, modern restaurant in the middle of Essen city. Here you can sit inside and outside. There are all kinds of burgers and even bowls. It was tasty!

We waited 45 minutes for our food. And then the burger was cold! There were only about six tables occupied, the waitress was just playing on her phone and then complained that she was the only one serving. What a disgrace!

After 45 minutes, I received the mushroom and chicken salad I ordered. The mushrooms were cold to lukewarm, and the chicken was cold. The server's explanation: "I'm alone, and I don't understand." Oh dear! Only about 6 tables occupied. We returned our food and went to a competitor.

Nice atmosphere but unfortunately much too narrow. The service was nice and quick but it wasn't busy either.

The food deserves 5 stars, no question. Everything is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. However, the service was very unfriendly and arrogant. We were served by Fabienne. The waitress kept pressuring us to order, even though it was a Monday before 2 p.m. and there were hardly any customers. We didn't dare ask anything because she immediately asked us if we "couldn't read" the menu. Her behavior made us feel uncomfortable. When we paid (without a tip), the waitress took the money and left without a word. No goodbye, nothing.

I would like to give even fewer stars for the service, it's just a disgrace.

Everything was perfect except for one small point. In order to relieve the burden on the employees, you can order and pay at the table using the QR code at Hans im Glück (you don't have to, it's an additional option). Unfortunately, it is not possible to not give a tip when paying...so if you are dissatisfied, it is not possible to pay at the table using the QR code without giving a tip. Furthermore, the tip that you should give at the table seemed very generous to me (payment via QR code).

We were totally thrilled. Friendly staff. Everything clean. Really delicious food. We'll be back👍

nice service and delicious burgers

Burger patty seems to be frozen goods and you can taste it, at least it's not better than McD. The remaining ingredients were solid. But given the prices, I expect more. Nice atmosphere and very attentive and friendly service.

The food is ok, the cocktails are more so-so with lots of ice cubes/crushed ice. If you take an evening menu, you pay about €11 on top of the burger or salad price and get a side dish (just fries, sweet potato fries for an extra €1.70) and the quick cocktail (normal cocktail price about €10, I didn't think it was worth it). The bottom line is that you get the side dish for free with the evening menu. It's ok, but the burgers are relatively small. But service was quite good and the fairytale forest atmosphere is also quite nice. Would come back, but not too often, there are simply better burger joints out there now.

Beautiful place, originally decorated, super nice staff and really delicious burgers. They are happy to think with you about what can be done gluten-free and even the hot chocolate can be vegan. Plenty of sauces to choose from on the table for burgers and fries.

Quiet at lunchtime, can get busy in the evening. Orders are placed via a website (QRCode). Otherwise you wait forever for service. Food was quick and very tasty. Deducted only because there were too few instructions for online ordering at the table.

Hans im Glück as a chain is very good, the staff is largely friendly and accommodating. At the end, however, it was not pointed out that the kitchen was closing, so the bedside table had to be removed and instead of serving/cashing out, we tidied up. I can completely understand why you want to do that, but you can't forget about customer service. Otherwise the ambience is nice, for me personally the music was too loud and the chairs were too uncomfortable but otherwise everything was fine.

We dropped by spontaneously and were immediately greeted very politely by the staff, who showed us our seats. The cards were also lying directly on the table inside, which is very practical. Our drinks as well as our food came very quickly and tasted good quality. The portions were also very large, which was appropriate for the price As I said at the beginning, the staff was very friendly and competent. Great shop, we will definitely eat there again!

Was there for dinner with my wife on Monday. A very cozy atmosphere with its own charm. The food itself came very quickly after ordering and was perfectly fine. What was noticeable, however, was that the team was probably understaffed, as some of the long-empty tables around us simply weren't cleared away. But the employees on site put in even more effort for this 🙂 Overall, an absolutely successful visit!

I am absolutely disappointed with my order on December 25th, 2024 via the Wolt delivery service. Hans im Glück's food was delivered ice cold and was therefore no longer edible. Of course, the restaurant can't help Wolt delivering the food cold. I expect from a delivery service like Wolt that my food arrives hot and in an edible condition - after all, that's their job. Contacting Wolt via the chat function was also frustrating. I was offered compensation, but it was by no means adequate. What was particularly annoying was that Wolt blamed the restaurant for the cold food instead of taking responsibility for the poor delivery. Such behavior – especially on a holiday – is disrespectful and unprofessional. One thing is clear to me: I will no longer place orders through Wolt in the future because I expect more from a reliable delivery service.

Everything is fine, gladly again. The service was great despite the Christmas rush, thank you for that!

We were there with eight people. Delicious food, nice service, everything good.

Unfortunately the visit was not a pleasant experience. It was busy, which is to be expected on a Saturday evening. The reservation via Google worked very well and we were able to skip the queue and go straight to the table. However, we would then have to wait almost half an hour until the waitress came to us and took the order. Unfortunately too long. The food came quickly enough, but unfortunately it wasn't too warm. In the special burger cheesesteak, the steak strips were cut very thin and cooked way too long. The meat was correspondingly leathery. Unfortunately, combined with the very sour sauce, this didn't work at all. My wife's burger was also not warm enough and served with too little sauce. The bun soaked up all the sauce. Too bad. To top it all off, going to the toilet had to be declared disgusting. Overflowing squat toilets, no soap, sticky floors, garbage, smell and stains everywhere. Things didn't look much better in the women's toilet. My wife said that some train station toilets are better. Completely wrong.

We eat here regularly. Love the burgers and the ambience is really great! I once accidentally got a vegan patty (I actually wanted the burger with a beef patty) and I'm very happy about it today. This spicy vegetable patty was so good that I now always order it. But the other burgers are also great, the cocktails are always very tasty - and the service is always courteous and polite!

The food was OK but nothing more than that, the volume in the restaurant roughly corresponds to the volume at Hamburg main station when a train arrives and the ordering doesn't really go well either because 3 orders arrived with defects or simply incorrectly! So, for example, non-alcoholic cocktails were specifically ordered and alcohol was "delivered" to our driver... As I said, the service was otherwise good but unfortunately it doesn't get more than 3 stars

Absolutely loved this place! The décor is stunning and truly unique, with tree trunks artfully placed throughout the space, creating a cosy and private atmosphere for each table. The design is so well thought out, with the tables perfectly blending into the natural aesthetic. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure everything was spot on throughout our visit. The burgers were simply delicious; juicy, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. The overall vibe is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal.

It is understandable and okay that everyone is now jumping on the bandwagon and that there must be an alternative for vegans too. But the fact that 95% of all chicken dishes are removed from the menu and replaced with fried vegan porridge is outrageous. Not everyone likes burgers. This leaves only vegan nuggets or salad with vegan chicken. At least give meat eaters a choice. Was definitely the last visit. Incidentally, the waiter on site sees it the same way and expressed this opinion.

The food was very good. I was skeptical at first because it is a chain. But the food was delicious and fresh. The furnishings are also nice and you don't feel lost despite the size of the store. Also suitable for larger groups. Unfortunately there was a system failure and we had to wait a while. But the service was very nice and attentive. I would go there again.

We went there spontaneously in the evening, got a nice seat, the waiter was very friendly and tried very hard. We ordered three menus, each with a burger on a large plate with a bowl of fries on it and a drink. Despite the fact that we all had the same meat on the burger, it tasted different for everyone, but unfortunately for me it was very strong (sorry, but like it smells in a stable) and not tasty. The mushrooms from the burger were very small and wrinkled. All in all, the burgers weren't that great. The regular fries were a little too soft, the sweet potato fries were perfect. The drinks were all delicious, although there was too much vodka in it with alcohol for my taste. We were asked in between if everything was okay, but not later if we wanted dessert. The atmosphere is cozy, there was a candle burning on the table, and the background noise was pleasant. There were 5 menu booklets on the table, unfortunately only one with current flyers. Unfortunately I wouldn't eat there a second time.

Standardized burger shop with the usual "Hans im Glück" products, where you can always find a burger, whether with meat, vegetarian or vegan. The service was friendly and quick, but the wooden block I was sitting on wasn't the most comfortable. Otherwise, a clear recommendation for anyone who likes burgers of consistent quality and a good selection.

The place was fine, the food was also fine. But waiting over 90 minutes for a burger isn’t fine. And the manager shook his shoulders and didn’t understand why that was a problem. Sure, they were quite busy, but it isn’t fine dining cooking. It’s an ordinary burger that should take 10-15 minutes in the kitchen and mass produced in batches. Other customers was leaving the place for not being served. They still believe that it’s worth paying full price.
