We had a delicious german meal consisting in currywurst with a kölsh beer. It was not too expensive and the server was nice. The chocolate souffle was also very good.

When we have visitors and are out in the old town, we usually go to eat at your place. The service is quick and everyone enjoys the dishes. But we have to criticize one thing: smell and hygiene from the back of the restaurant down to the toilets, including toilets. Something should be done urgently. We already had visitors and they didn't want to come to you anymore, even though the food was tasty.

Despite the full house, we managed to accommodate 7 people. Food was very good. And really reasonable and justified prices for the Heumarkt as a tourist magnet.

I had read good reviews of this restaurant and I definitely wanted to go there when we were in Cologne. Unfortunately, I was not able to book online before leaving home. Calling wasn't really an option for me living in Canada. We took a chance and went for it. We were told it was full. We were so disappointed. We stood in the entrance of the restaurant and a few minutes later a waiter beckoned us to follow him and offered us a seat next to the bar. I think it's the most beautiful table in the restaurant. We were so happy and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and efficient, the food very good and the atmosphere very pleasant. This remains one of the most beautiful memories of our stay in Cologne.

An excellent place with amazing Schnitzel!

I had lunch with my girlfriend at the Pfeffermühle today, we were so impressed by the friendly service and the delicious food! We go there often, mostly on Sundays, and no matter whether we ate casseroles, salad, schnitzel or burgers, everything tastes delicious and the staff is so friendly, thank you for that! Four of us were spontaneously there on a Saturday evening. It was very crowded and at first we could only sit outside. When a table became available inside, we were immediately asked if we would like to sit inside, which we did. Although it was busy both inside and out throughout the evening, service was great and very quick for drinks. The food also came in a reasonable time and was super tasty. The price-performance ratio is also right here. Highly recommended!

We've been there several times. Always combine it with a visit to the Hänneschen Theater. No matter what we ordered, everything was delicious!! Good price-performance ratio.

The food was great & plentiful! Although there was a lot going on the day we were there and the service was a little overwhelmed, as we noticed from the mood when we asked something decent... We were only given a seat outside in the cold without a reservation, but we were still very satisfied and came We would be happy to come back when we are in Cologne again but this time with a reservation 😉

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I must say, the experience was far beyond my expectations. The food was simply outstanding, and the staff was warm and attentive throughout our visit. We started with two of their soups, and each one was better than the last — rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned. For the main course, we ordered the beef fillet with mushroom sauce. The taste of the meat was indescribable — tender, juicy, and full of flavor.

We stopped in to try the famous Kolsch beer and enjoyed sitting at a table overlooking the plaza and people watching. Although we weren't hungry, the menu looked appealing. Restrooms downstairs.

We ordered the grill plate and Jägerschnitzel for dinner. There was coffee and ginger ale to drink. The food was very tasty and we were served quickly. The waiters were very good and competent. Price performance is also right, I found it definitely fair.

The waiters were very friendly and tried to provide a table for our larger group despite being busy. I enjoyed the food very much. One point of criticism is that the dishes are not particularly cheap, but that is probably not surprising in Cologne. Toilets could be cleaner and more intact. Overall, definitely recommended.

The vegetarian offering could be expanded somewhat. There was some of it outside, but ultimately the offering was rather poor. We then had a delicious vegetable pan where the beef strips were simply replaced with fries.

Had dinner there yesterday with 9 people after our Hänneschen visit. Had reserved in advance and sat outside sat. The food was very tasty, great service, even though it was extremely busy, the service didn't let itself be disturbed. Always a smile on your face. No meal on this mortal Earth can live up to this dish. The creamy, mushroom sauce is sweet nectar delivered by angels, and the combination of the pasta with the chicken was crafted by the hands of immortals. Today we went to Hänneschen and the Pfeffermühle for the first time. The interior is comfortably furnished and the food tasted very good. Unfortunately, I cannot report any positive feedback about the service staff. At first they wanted to refuse us to dine indoors, even though there were still seats available. They said we should please sit outside because it would be quicker there. After a long back and forth, we were finally allowed to take a seat inside. Unfortunately, the service staff were very overwhelmed and our food order was simply forgotten until the waiters noticed it themselves. Afterwards our food was served very quickly after we were given a salad in advance as compensation. Luckily, as guests we can decide for ourselves where we spend our money, so we ate there for the first and last time today.

Seven of us came spontaneously and got a spot straight away on a sunny afternoon. The waiters were super attentive, the food was a 10/10, all the dishes were really delicious. Absolutely recommended :)!

We hebben een fantastische tijd gehad bij Hänneschen und die Pfeffermühle in Keulen. Het grote terras is een ideale plek om te genieten van het mooie weer. Het vriendelijke personeel zorgde voor een vlotte bediening, ondanks de drukte op het terras. Toen we aankwamen, was het erg druk vanwege het mooie weer, maar we konden binnen even wachten tot er een tafeltje op het terras vrij kwam. Het eten was heerlijk en de locatie in de binnenstad van Keulen is prachtig. Wij zijn zeer tevreden en komen zeker nog eens terug!

Wanted to go to the restaurant on a hot day. Were turned away because it wasn't supposed to be occupied inside. We should please take a seat outside. There was just one table free in the shade and it was very warm. But the table was completely crooked. That wasn't nice. The people who came after us were allowed in after all. (2 minutes later) A bit outrageous and incomprehensible. The food was good so far. Except: I had a salad plate that wasn't exactly enough for me to be very hungry. I know that better and different for the price. I also ordered fries, which only came after I asked twice. Staff seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. When I asked for the second time (when we had almost finished the meal/salad), the only answer I got was from the first waiter: "Oh, I forgot the fries again." Unfortunately no excuse - nothing. Too bad. I didn't feel comfortable there. “Welcome Guests” looks different to me. Unfortunately not again.

Nice location where the daily menu also includes Cologne cuisine. But don't worry, there's a translation 😉 The food was very tasty, I only deducted one star because the fried potatoes were only lukewarm. Food really good, service extremely unfriendly except for Shajam. After waiting for 30 minutes, we were assigned a table, which unfortunately was occupied by a regular guest. Afterwards it was repeatedly made clear to us and also told that we were actually not wanted.

The schnitzel tastes really good and the portion is large. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. It's nice to sit outside :)

But we have to respond to something absurd like this, because strangely enough, our waiter Pino received five stars from an Indian family three days ago and the guests were so happy that He took such good care of them. But when you have complexes and blame everything on racism, we lose our temper. We grew up here in Cologne and all of our employees, except for two, are foreigners There is no racism here and everyone is welcome. Had hier normaal niet gaan eten ivm uitstraling maar ivm beoordeling TA toch gedaan. Lekker en veel gegeten. Bediening oké, duurde nl wel even maar wel heel aardig.

Lage schön, essen gut, Personal freundlich. Aussen hui, aber innen... Schade, ein bisschen mehr Sauberkeit sollte sein.

Im Vorfeld war klar, dass man in dieser Jahreszeit nicht reservieren kann. Nach einem freundlichen Mail Kontakt, haben wir uns dennoch entschieden, das Lokal zu besuchen. Es hat alles wunderbar. Wir mussten nicht lange warten und hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt. Super leckeres Essen und sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Mitarbeiter. Auch bekam ich den Tipp, dass das Nachbarlokal eine barrierefreie Toilette hat. Auch hier waren sie sehr freundlich und es war überhaupt kein Problem, dass ich die Toilette benutzen durfte. Es war noch ein schöner Aufenthalt. Wir kommen sicherlich wieder.

We wanted to eat something from German cuisine, we were not disappointed. A restaurant that is just ok.

Waitress took 30 mins to come back to us as we weren't ready to order on her time. She then claimed we didn't get salad when we thought we did, for the server to then correct her, even though menu was clear. Bratwurst and salad were salty. Brought sunblind in too soon, so got roasted. Unlike anywhere else in Koln, they happily left my glass empty of beer and I had to ask for a refill. 4.6 stars returned disappointment, at least schnitzel was good.

It was delicious, if you're looking for solid food you're in good hands here. Service was also very nice. You shouldn't expect fine dining, but you don't pay for it either.

We had a fantastic evening dinning here .The Argentinian rump steak was exceptional,just like what we had in Argentina. The accompaniments were amazing as well , the potato gratin and beans with bacon.The guy who served us Pino , made the evening extra special for us by just being really friendly and helpful. He is such a happy guy who goes that extra mile to make you feel special. There are various musicians too playing at the square who entertain you whilst you enjoy your meal sitting outside the restaurant. It's a wonderful place to enjoy a meal when visiting Koln.

If you like delicious food, then this place is a must. The food is amazing, well seasoned, well prepared, well presented... big praise to the kitchen. The staff is careful, very friendly and highly committed. Thanks to the team.

Were there with 10 people without a table reservation. The managing director was very flexible and easily provided us with a table. ALL of my colleagues and I were absolutely thrilled with the food. An unassuming pub in the centre of town. I was very unsure entering the restaurant. Various furniture, a football match on TV with a burnt-out display (you know, the European Football Championship, in Germany). The kitchen is practically part of the restaurant. Very pleasant surprise from the helpful staff (unfortunately only at the beginning). Now positively, the menu also in English, the service communicates perfectly in English. Great food, huge portions, dishes with elements of local cuisine, very good local beer like Kölsch bier (local specialty famous all over Europe). Unfortunately the service was declining as time went by, probably fatigue from the two European Championship matches that were on TV in the meantime. Overall rating very good to great in terms of gastronomic experience.
