The restaurant is surprisingly good for the old town. Friendly service. The salad with steak strips is fresh and delicious. The lamb was roasted beautifully pink. The schnitzel has a good portion. Price-performance and good quality are right here. When the weather is nice you can sit outside and look at the Heumarkt. Not just for tourists but also for locals...

Authentically german (with a slight twist). Really enjoyed the meal, super fast service and that atmosphere that makes you wanna say ‘Prost’ out loud. Really worth a visit. The salad was great and refreshing!

We were attended by the guy staff quickly to have a table. He immediately mentioned only for 2 hrs, because probably they have a lot customers on NY eve. We ordered goulash soup, lasagna, rumsteak salad, grilled meat mix and drinks.. The food were fine except the goulash which is too salty. I like the meat just how they were grilled and tender. We finished the lasagna, tasty! The servings are good for 2. Even though they were busy the guy was nice. The only thing that I didnt like was the way they talk to customers both the woman ans the guy. The woman i felt she is a bit racist and agitated when I approached her, I asked if we can move to a bigger table because our table was small for our orders, I do not think the food will fit. She was agitated and said all tables were reserved. Then the man was asked us to moved to a bigger table in the end. The way they speak sounded impatient and agitated, I was speaking in a soft voice but I found them scandalous in a loud voice. I gave a tip. Anyway the ambience could be better if the staffs look happy and friendly smiling.

Well, it's about time for the pepper mill to get the words it deserves. We've eaten here quite often now and have already convinced friends and family that a visit to the Pfeffermühle is worth it. Despite the high level of stress, the service staff remains friendly and always happy to say something funny. (The hut is actually always full) The pan-fried dishes are simply delicious and are also a hit with the other guests. After every winter, we look forward to coming back to your terrace in spring and summer with good food and cool Kölsch to simply enjoy the weather and the atmosphere.

The range of restaurants on site is huge and it is difficult to choose. But we didn't want anything Bavarian in Cologne so we stopped here and what can we say, it was great. Very friendly and courteous service, cozy and cozy atmosphere and very tasty and extensive and, last but not least, affordable food. Special requests were also addressed without complaint. We can highly recommend the restaurant. The location, ideally close to the parking garage and the old town, is also the icing on the cake.

We came based on the reviews and LOVED IT!! I tried Hausgemachte Lasagne mit Bolognessauce und Gauda, ​​which appeared as number 14 on the menu. Its price is 14.90 Euros and it is quite large and filling in size. It was the most delicious lasagna I have ever eaten... Then, for dessert, I tried Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesoßo (6.50 Euro), which was listed as number 51 on the menu, and I was very pleased with it. It was a dessert that was crispy on the outside and appley and soft on the inside. Overall, I was very pleased, I recommend it. Additionally, the service was very friendly and polite. If you have pork sensitivities, they offer the option to change dishes made with pork to veal on the menu. When ordering, please specify that there is no pork in it and that you would like to change it.

Delicious food, best place to eat in Cologne

I am a frequent guest here, I love the schnitzel and have been visiting for more than a year. Love it. Prices did get a bit higher but worth it at least once per month

Dec. 2024: it had something of a train station atmosphere...but it was very nice! Very attentive and very friendly staff...very good food! A nice place to meet, eat, have a drink and chat. Highly recommended! Gladly again and again! Prices are within the usual range of Cologne's old town!

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon and luckily got a spot. It was absolutely worth it: the food (including Hänneschen dreh de Pann) was great, the meat was fried to perfection and tender as butter. All served beautifully in a pan where the food was nice and hot. In addition, a very attentive and friendly service. Nice selection of drinks. We really liked it, thank you very much!

Relaxed restaurant with lots of local guests and local flair. Very tasty cuisine with a large selection and a fair price/performance ratio. If you're wondering about the model of a UPS cargo plane that's on the bar: "This is like our kitchen," the two guests at the next table, who turned out to be UPS pilots, told us. "The hotels where we stay are all in this area and we all come here because the food is just great"

Stopped here based on Google Maps reviews. Food was very good. I had a 300g rump steak with a pepper sauce. Ordered medium and received medium. Meat was nice and tender and tasty. The pepper sauce also had a very good, not too weak pepper flavor that was just right for my taste. Very tasty with the good piece of meat. Quite nicely furnished. The only negative point was that it was a bit cold. But today it was also quite cold outside. Nevertheless, I can recommend the restaurant.

While passing through Cologne we found this restaurant located next to the Christmas market. We had a waiter with a tattoo with a little lightning bolt near his eye, he was incredibly kind and friendly! thank you to this gentleman if he sees this comment because we had an extraordinary time thanks to him! The dishes were delicious and especially the dessert the “ApfelStrudel” is truly to die for! We even came back the next day at noon so that we could taste one last ApfelStrudel before leaving Germany… We highly recommend this establishment and will definitely come back if we are in the area again!

We left very happy with this cute restaurant, which we went to by chance during our visit to Cologne. Even though we went without a reservation and the restaurant was full, they kindly arranged a table for us. The food was great too. I would also like to thank Ms. Esra, who takes care not only of us, but of all the tables, and who never misses her smile.

We like to go to this restaurant from time to time, luckily we are regularly assigned a more or less good seat, but it is advisable to make a reservation. The prices are pleasantly moderate for this location and the food is really delicious. There is plenty of meat in the goulash soup and it tastes great. The dishes are very sumptuous and served hot, what comes out of this minimalist kitchen is excellent. The food here is good, fresh and hot and there is no tourist trap. Even if the restaurant seems a bit small and overcrowded, it still has a certain cosiness to offer. The service is sometimes a bit overwhelmed but still very friendly. We enjoy coming and can definitely recommend the restaurant.

We've been eating there regularly about twice a month over the last few years and wanted to eat there again on New Year's Eve. Although there were some free tables in the restaurant, we were not assigned a seat. Several people came after us. Also individuals. to which places have been allocated. We will avoid this restaurant in the future and recommend that everyone else not go there again. Food is not bad, prices like in the neighborhood but arrogance terrible. Better not.

It's very nice there because it's right on the Altermarkt and has a direct connection to the Hänneschen Theater. The food is great 😃🤗😍👐👐 as is the staff and we use it as a pensioners' meeting point every two months. Regular local.

De eerste avond in Köln zochten we wat te eten en kwamen we hier terecht. Achteraf gezien geen straf. Het was er erg druk maar een tafel voor 2 hadden ze binnen een paar minuten voor ons! Leuke uitgebreide kaart. En het geleverde was fantastisch grote borden met degelijk Duitse gerechten. De porties zijn groot en de prijs is netjes. Dus voor ons een dikke plus

Nos aconsejó que solo podíamos tener la mesa durante 90 minutos, ya que tenían una reserva para más tarde en la noche. Esto estuvo completamente bien para nosotros. La segunda noche, intentamos ir de nuevo. Nos dijeron que estaban llenos. Nos fuimos y nos fuimos a otra parte. En nuestro camino de regreso a nuestro hotel, paramos de nuevo y preguntamos si podíamos hacer una reserva para la noche siguiente. Let me start by saying that I'm glad these comments exist and we can find such places. Even though it doesn't look very attractive from the outside, once you get inside, there is a feeling of a superior place. We ate dish number 16 in the chicken schnitzel and noddle section with mushroom sauce. The portions of both are huge. I remembered that there was no chicken among the schnitzel options on the menu, and when I told him, he made it accordingly. If you have a sensitivity to pork, you can also remove it from the sauce. Sinitze can be served with not just a single sauce option, but with any sauce you want, and it is very delicious. Dish number 16 is a masterpiece :) Don't worry about it being in the noodle section. Grilled chicken and mushrooms on top of a green Tagliette, with mozzarella on top, and of course they were blended with a wonderful sauce. The grilled taste was perfect, be sure to try it :)

We were guests in this restaurant, which is located directly on the Heumarkt, for the third time in just under a year, and on each of our three visits we were very satisfied with the food we received here, which we enjoyed every time. Overall, the menu offers a very nice selection of different dishes, including many grilled dishes, as well as several tarte flambées, schnitzel and pasta dishes. There are also some very interesting house specialties, which are not shown online. During our visits we have already tested several dishes and so far every meal has tasted really delicious. The various, tasty types of meat with clearly palatable grilled aromas have always been of very good quality and had optimal cooking points, and we also always found the fine side dishes and sauces to be really good and also fresh. The portions, which are attractively served to guests at the table, are generous in size, so that you will definitely feel full. The restaurant, which is also busy during the week, offers a nice, simple ambience with many traditional Cologne details, especially with reference to the adjacent puppet theater. When the weather is nice, you can also relax on the outdoor terrace along the Heumarkt. The service has been really friendly and attentive on all visits so far, and the food has always had a pleasantly short waiting time. Compared to surrounding breweries, we find the food here to be definitely better in terms of taste and quality, which is why we're a little annoyed that we didn't find this restaurant sooner. We can definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant and will happily come back a few more times ourselves.
