Hamborger Veermaster in Hamburg

Unfortunately, half of the dishes on the menu were unavailable, and unfortunately, no information was provided when we were assigned a table. We wanted original hamburger specialties, but unfortunately, they weren't available... We had a reservation for 8 people. It's a shame that no information was provided, either via the tool or upon entry. The alternatives we ordered were bland and nothing special... That should change, because we won't be coming again... Too bad

Food was good, but it took a long time to be delivered. However, service is too few staff like everywhere else.

Don't order raw dishes there! I ate a very tasty beef tartare but unfortunately there was a little surprise. The following night I vomited 5 times and consequently had food poisoning. My remaining vacation days were ruined and then I just lay around in the hotel.

Great restaurant. Was traveling in Hamburg for work and can be found right at the beginning of the Reeperbahn. Great ambience, nice service and cool music at the start.

The food here was really fantastic and recommended! The suckling pig was more of a “men’s portion” because unfortunately there was no room for dessert for me, as I have a sweet tooth. 😂 The toilets were extremely well maintained, shiny and stylishly decorated. But unfortunately it would have been more pleasant if the entrance area had been separated by a curtain, especially in the cold months. Unfortunately, at the first table you had to put on your jacket every now and then. But maybe the restaurant will find a solution for this 😊 All in all a lovely experience!

The food was a solid six. Never had such a bad burger. We waited forever for the food. The ambiance and prices were also not up to scratch. Absolutely not a recommendation.

Unfortunately, salmon is considered vegetarian/vegan. When it comes to vegetarian and vegan food, there are the typical three dishes. Cheese spaetzle, baked potato and a punch. I would like more.

Very large portions but the taste was okay

I was here for dinner last January during our company trip to Hamburg. The organization went great, we were a very large group of approx. 40 people and the staff despite full company, we served us well, food arrived at our table at very small intervals. When the drinks were empty, it was seen and asked about. The atmosphere was good, the food was very tasty and I think the prices were reasonable.

We had our annual team event and then had dinner here in this restaurant in the evening. We made reservations in advance and as was recommended to us by the veermaster, we said in advance what we wanted to eat and also the time when it should be ready. Unfortunately, we seemed to have been forgotten or at some point we were asked what we wanted to eat and then we said we had already ordered in advance and of course the food took a long time to arrive. One meal was supposed to be prepared gluten-free, but unfortunately that didn't work and three meals ended up taking so long that the others were already ready. See the photo, one has finished eating and the other has just gotten his first and is just starting. That was of course very stupid. Apart from that, the food was very tasty and the staff was very friendly, but time management was of course difficult for a company that has a program...

We had reserved a table for 6 people, but then had to wait half an hour for our table. We were then seated at a table where it was so cold that we ate in our winter jackets. The food only came after an hour and after repeated requests. When it arrived, it was only lukewarm as it had probably been sitting for a long time and the burger was unfortunately bone dry. Never again, tourist trap!

Perfect start to an evening on the Reeperbahn We were at the Hamburger Veermaster on a Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m. Although it was very busy at the typical rush hour on the Reeperbahn, the restaurant quickly and easily gave us a place for two people. The service was friendly and attentive, even though you could tell she had her hands full. This meant that there were minor delays in ordering, but that was completely understandable in this situation. The house beer was pleasantly bitter and tasted very good. The house burger was exactly how you would expect a hamburger to be – fresh, juicy and delicious. Overall, a great experience that was perfect to start the evening with a good meal before continuing on to the Reeperbahn. We'd love to come back!

Simple but super tasty dishes. Friendly, fast service, very clean toilets, we always enjoy eating here.

For Reeperbahn the restaurant is at the top level. It's also at the beginning of the street. Food was good, although not great. Service was very hard despite the restaurant being very full.

The food is so good here. We shared the hamburger and the schnitzel. The burger patty needed some salt but it was still delicious, the sauce and onions were so flavourful. The potatoes that came with the schnitzel were the best potatoes we've ever had!

Food was good and Veermaster Blond is highly recommended. The idea is that they have too few staff.

Northern German, delicious, cuisine, unfortunately some dishes were "off", very large portions, friendly staff, it's a bit of a focus on throughput, functionally furnished, but also has something of a fast food feel, but the price/performance ratio for food and drinks is good

The restaurant offers a nice ambience that is particularly suitable for smaller groups. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the stay very pleasant. Unfortunately, when I visited, the food was a bit dry and the taste wasn't entirely convincing, which might have been bad luck. Nevertheless, the restaurant on the Reeperbahn is worth a visit because the overall package of atmosphere and service is right. With a little more attention to detail in the food it could be really great.

Be sure to try Labskaus. It really tastes incredibly good here. The original Wiener and the tight Max are definitely also recommended. Add Kaiserschmarrn for dessert and the culinary evening is perfect. Thank you and see you soon!

The false snail was delicious. The staff was super friendly. Everything was great and for a normal price. We can only recommend the restaurant. It's worth going.

Unfortunately we sat near the door and it was very cold. The service was nice when she was there. Mostly just stood around at the counter...

I can't rate the food because we didn't get that far. Had reserved a table to have a nice evening... The table was in the back corner, you had to push through other tables... Super uncomfortable, really cold... when we pointed out the cold... yes in progress (the existing fan heaters didn't work). I then asked again if we could possibly have another table. Answer: you can see everything... OK... I think we could have found a way... but so unmotivated and disinterested staff... Too bad...

Einfach nur enttäuschend.Hatten einen Tisch reserviert und wurden in die hinterste Ecke gesetzt..super ungemütlich uns sau kalt... Nach dem ersten Hinweis die Heizlüfter sind in Arbeit ( funktioniert aber nicht) dann nett gefragt ob wir den Tisch wechseln können.... Ihr seht doch das alles voll ist... War es nicht . Und man hätte sicher was regeln können.Gut,dann nicht,wir sind dann gegangen.. eine persönliche Reaktion kam auch nicht.. viel Erfolg bei der Einstellung zum Dienstleister sein..

For those in a hurry: Atmosphere: 0* Service: 0* Essen: It didn't get that far. Detailed: Reserved at 6 p.m. The store was about 1/3 full, so plenty of free space. In the lower area it looked quite attractive, it was warm and there was music playing, quite loudly. We were then taken upstairs to a tiny table in the far corner. It was extremely cold there, max. 15°C. (It's the end of November.) Radiators were there, but they were cold. The lights were very bright and the music was missing. This is what the break room at my company looks like. The atmosphere was absolutely unpleasant, as apart from us there was only one large group there, who were also very cold. It was practically a closed society since we were the only ones who didn't belong to that group. After a minute we realized that we felt absolutely uncomfortable here, so we asked for another table. This request was rejected by the staff with a shrug and absolutely no motivation, even though the store wasn't even half full. It was obvious that the staff didn't care at all. There was no effort to change the situation. Eat or die. Since the store has been recently renovated, one would think that there would be some interest in recouping the costs. This certainly won't work by treating your guests like troublemakers. To be honest, I even hope so, because you don't need such stalls in Hamburg. This is how the Veermaster becomes the Nevermaster.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the good old Veermaster anymore. Food is ok but waiting 90 minutes for the food when the store is 3/4 full is a disaster.

We were there with 8 people on a Saturday lunchtime and the store was packed. The service remained relaxed and didn't make anyone wait long. The food was great, the beer was delicious - what more could you want. We'll definitely be back.

Actually, I can't write a proper review because we weren't actually there. We had reserved a table for four people to watch football. When we arrived, the waitress said that there was a broadcast problem and that they couldn't show football. I would have liked to have known this beforehand, contact details were available.

We ate here on a Saturday afternoon. Burger with fries Matjes with fried potatoes. It was possible to send the burger back to the kitchen without any problems because it wasn't cooked through. The dish was then served completely new. The herring was very carelessly prepared, the fried potatoes were very finished, we wouldn't order them here again. Service is very friendly, the atmosphere is informal.

The suckling pig was great. The duck was great. Despite the store being fully booked, the waiting time was great and the service was great and very friendly. Also a very nice atmosphere.

We were there for dinner with 18 people. Unfortunately, EVERYONE was of the opinion that the quality and taste of the food left a lot to be desired. The fried fish and the fried potatoes were far too dry and far too dark. A colleague said that he had never eaten such a bad plaice! In addition, the prices are significantly excessive. I had a great experience at Hamburger Veermaster! The hamburger was delicious and the beer went perfectly with it - fresh and really tasty. The waiter was super friendly and attentive, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The cozy, maritime atmosphere of the restaurant completed the whole thing. Absolutely recommended for a relaxing evening!

This place shouldn't be called Vermaster...., it can't be compared with the old Vermaster!!! There is a lack of flair, ambience and “love for the guest” here....

Tuvimos 2 grandes experiencias en Veermaster en un breve viaje a Hamburgo. Normalmente no repetiríamos restaurante durante un viaje corto en una ciudad nueva, pero nuestra primera experiencia de postre tarde una noche fue tan alentador que volvimos a cenar la noche siguiente. Era el cumpleaños número 16 de mi hijo y estábamos tratando de encontrar un lugar que sirviera postre de algún tipo para poder celebrar apropiadamente... Veermaster era el lugar... abierto tarde y aunque lleno por dentro y por fuera, nos dieron una mesa de inmediato para nosotros dos. Nuestro servidor fue lo suficientemente amable como para acomodar mi solicitud de poner una vela de algún tipo en el postre de Roll Crumble francés al horno que pedí... hubo un poco de comedia cuando no pudo encenderlo en la mesa y tuvo que llevarlo de vuelta a la cocina para pedir ayuda. Y no era solo una vela, sino un chispador lleno... así que todo un placer visual. También tuve una buena foto de Jägermesiter. Nunca lo había tenido antes y quería algo local de la región. Somos vegetarianos y la noche siguiente, nuestra última noche en Alemania, queríamos otra auténtica comida alemana de algún tipo y vimos que tenían "Anton's Cheese Spaetzle" en el menú. ¡Bien! Ya habíamos tenido suficiente schnitzel vegano y salchicha en otros lugares ... vamos a darle una oportunidad a Spaetzle! Ambos lo pedimos... Fácilmente podríamos haber compartido uno, ya que era una porción bastante generosa que ninguno de los dos podía terminar. Fue bastante bueno... básicamente un macarrones con queso estilo alemán que venía con una ensalada muy fresca e impresionante. También pedimos "3 Kinds of Bruschetta" - Aquí es donde deberíamos haber hecho un poco más de investigación de traducción, ya que, de nuevo somos vegetarianos, y uno de ellos era el arenque. Bien, lección aprendida para la próxima vez. Las bruschettas de tomate y olivo eran buenas. Nos sentimos muy bien atendidos aquí. No tuvimos problemas para sentarnos en dos noches muy concurridas seguidas. Es un lugar de lujo cómodo para comer con un montón de asientos en las mesas exteriores justo en el Reeperbahn si quieres ese ambiente. Gracias, Veermaster por darnos una gran experiencia, y por la atención extra "brillante" que le diste al postre de cumpleaños de mi hijo.

Unfortunately you can no longer compare it with the old restaurant. Not at all as cozy and rustic as it used to be. The food was really bad, the ribs were totally dry and too salty and the suckling pig was a joke for 23.90.

The ambience is great, but if you want something to eat, you're definitely better off somewhere else. Small portions whose taste is reminiscent of packet meals. This is a very beautiful location that can be expanded.

We were there for dinner and it was nice too. Drinks and food came in a reasonable time. Unfortunately there was a flaw with my food. I had the fillet steak and the menu didn't show the quantity. In addition, the cooking level was not asked when the order was placed. When I asked how the steaks were made, they were always medium rare. Unfortunately when the steak came it wasn't medium but rather rare. That didn't bother me in itself, unfortunately the steak was cold after a short time. And for a price of €38 that should be different.

Wir waren am Sonntag eine große Gruppe und haben draußen getrunken. Der Kellner, der etwas dick und älter war, hat uns über 100 Euro gestohlen. Wir gaben ihm zunächst 100 Euro, er zog diese von der Rechnung von 400 Euro ab, sodass noch 300 Euro mit Karte zu zahlen waren, aber dann gaben wir ihm weitere 100 Euro oder mehr und er nahm die Anpassung nicht auf der Rechnung vor. Wir haben es erst später gemerkt und als wir ihn darauf ansprachen, ging er weg und ignorierte uns. Ich hoffe, die Besitzer lesen das und stellen ihn zur Rede und sehen sich die Kameraaufnahmen an. We were a large group on Sunday drinking downstairs outside. The waiter who was a bit fat and a older stole over 100 euros from us. We initially gave him 100 euros he deducted this from the tab of 400 euros leaving 300 euros to pay by card but we then gave him another 100 euros or more and he didn’t make the adjustment on the bill. We only realized afterwards and when we confronted him he walked off and ignored us. I hope the owners read this and challenge him and watch the camera footage.

Wir waren an einem Tag mit gutem Wetter dort. Wollten daher draußen oder zumindest am Fenster sitzen. Der Laden war bis auf 3 Personen an der Bar komplett leer. Als wir uns ans Fenster gesetzt hatten, kam der schlecht gelaunte Kellner und sagte wir müssten uns auch an die Bar setzen, da die anderen Tische reserviert seien. Da uns das wie kompletter Schwachsinn vorkam, sind wir gegangen und waren woanders essen. Als wir eine Stunde später wieder an dem Laden vorbei kamen, war der Laden immer noch leer und wir uns sicher, der Kellner wollte einfach keine Leute im Laden bzw draußen bedienen, sondern nur an der Bar am Handy gammeln.

We still know the old Veermaster and were in love with the ambience. We only discovered the current location by chance. A notice at the old "store" or more clearly on the Internet would have been nice (you actually only see photos of the old business). The new one is contemporary and modern, but no longer has the charm of the old one. The staff is friendly, proactive and quick. We felt comfortable and in good hands. Yesterday we went to the Schlagermove in the Veermaster and it was just great! All employees are super friendly and on the ball. The buffet was very tasty with a lot of choice and everything was available at all times. The drinks are always cool and of great quality. Great ambience and the terrace is great. Many thanks to the entire Veermaster team for this great day ❤️❤️❤️ We will definitely stop by more often now 😊

Very nice restaurant. Great operation and service

It used to be a great restaurant - good food (that was served quickly), great atmosphere, top service. Emphasis on EARLIER. After the old Veermaster went bankrupt, a new shop was opened a few hundred meters away under the same name. Unfortunately with a completely new concept. Apart from the fact that the new location is smaller - there is no longer anything to see or feel of the spirit of "old Hamburg", the maritime flair was THE hallmark of the Veeemaster. It was basically the small counterpart to the Hofbräuhaus in Munich. Instead of party hits with a veteran live DJ in a rustic atmosphere, you now come to any run-of-the-mill bar with an attached restaurant for a pseudo-Schicki-Micki audience, with a mediocre solo entertainer trying to sing international classics. The food is okay, but the prices have risen significantly - or simpler, cheaper dishes had to give way (e.g. no pork schnitzel, only veal for a mere 28.90 euros), small fillet steak for 38 euros (which I prefer if I'm up for it eat in a steakhouse). 13.50 euros for a lukewarm crab soup is also an announcement, or 2.9 for a bit of bread with the salad. Well, good luck ripping off tourists! Just as a side note: you should not only change prices and event dates on the homepage, but also the presentation of the store... according to the current external image, visitors can still expect maritime flair and a party DJ. Label fraud!

We were there on business and unfortunately there was only one service, which was evident in the waiting time. Everything tasted good.

We had a drink there, prices are actually quite okay, but then charging guests of the restaurant €1 for a toilet is really not possible and normally it is not an obligation to pay anything. According to the law, it is also obligatory to offer a toilet for guests. And above all, if the salary is fixed, she is not allowed to charge anything other than mandatory fees.

A nice restaurant on the Reeperbahn, good food, good prices and nice staff too. We were there three times in total and were more than satisfied every time, even when there was a lot going on, the service kept their nerve and kept an overview! We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

Unfortunately the new location is a huge disappointment! Unfortunately, the flair of the old Veermaster has been completely lost and the service is a complete disaster! The waitresses can't remember any orders and are consistently unfriendly and stressed. This doesn't make the guest feel good and I've never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant. The drinks sometimes go back because either there is no carbonation in the drink or the beer is completely stale. The food was not at all impressive! Order: Veermaster ribs and hamburgers These were so dry that the meat almost got stuck in your throat without rinsing with drinks! The fries were too salty and the burger tasted like stale fat. Veermaster Hamburg: definitely NOT a recommendation!!!

I had the pleasure of having dinner there. I ordered creamy tomato soup. I do not recommend it, it had the consistency of tomato juice and this was not only my opinion, but that of most of the trip participants. The second course was ok. Pork chop, fries, salads and good local beer, and finally dessert. Apart from the soup, I recommend it

Went there with a large group during the harbor birthday and everything went well. The food was also wonderful. Clean shop.

Current information (as of May 11, 2024): The restaurant is currently closed indefinitely. According to local press releases, the reason is the operator's bankruptcy. We went to the place because of the interesting exterior (pirate ship design). Inside, the ship's design continued consistently and attractively. Good old pop songs were played and there was a happy, sociable atmosphere. We got a table without any problems and were served relatively quickly (table service only). Our beers (Radler and Veermaster Blondes) arrived quickly and well chilled. Only four stars because there was a distinct smell of a deep fryer in the air. Still a pleasant and good choice. Will definitely hire again. ;)

Tried, but of course it doesn't come close to the original a few meters further on the Reeperbahn, which is unfortunately closed for whatever reason 😒 miss the old Veermaster

We were there again for the first time after moving. The food and ambience used to be much better. Waited over half an hour for food and then it was only lukewarm. Very unfortunate. The only positive thing is that the staff is still super nice.

After the musical The Lion King, we were hungry. Then came across this wonderful shop. Very nice atmosphere. Several live artists performed which we thought was great! The food was equally delicious and the portions were large. The price is fair. I can fully recommend this restaurant for people who are very hungry and also value a beautiful location.

We spontaneously went to Veermaster during the week after seeing a musical to satisfy our small hunger. Excellent service and an excellent Wiener Schnitzel rounded off the fantastic evening. We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Compared to the old location, the new one is not as nice in my opinion. Normal tables and benches, only 4 tables an attempt to bring in maritime flair with a sailing mast. I found the old location more rustic and cozy. However, the reasons for the move are understandable and correct. The food itself as well as the service was good and gave no cause for criticism. The prices were OK.

My fiancée and I were in Hamburg over Easter for Dance of the Vampires and we ended up at the Veermaster twice. The people there are great, the food is delicious, the prices are not cheap, but reasonable. The bread basket as a starter is highly recommended, the dips are super delicious. But none of the other dishes (Labskaus, salmon in mustard sauce, crab soup, fried goat cheese, Franzbrötchen crumbles...) disappointed us. As a Prussian from the Palatinate with contact with the Rhineland, the cuisine seems to me to be authentically Hamburg. Full recommendation

Very disappointed with the place. My dish said “roasted potato” on the menu, so I made sure it didn’t come with bacon like other dishes. Unfortunately they didn't provide the information for my option, potatoes came with bacon, which I can't tolerate. Then I had to give up the potatoes entirely. The fish didn't seem to be completely fresh or had been previously frozen, there was a lot of liquid coming out onto the plate and the taste wasn't good at all. I think it's pretty strange in a port city. Prices a bit unreasonable (€24 for my plate), but that could actually be forgiven given the location and if the food had been delicious. The service was ok, the restaurant itself was clean and inviting. Too bad about the food. Unfortunately we won't come again.

We are 3 girls and spontaneously wanted to go out for fish on Saturday evening in January and were surprised to get a place without a reservation. The atmosphere was pleasant and the music made you want to sway. The portions were very large, luckily we shared our plates, we enjoyed the fish dishes. Steve's service was first class, thank you again! 😁 P.S. For a larger group of girls who want to have fun on the Reeperbahn and just have fun together, I can absolutely recommend this place, but then I would make a reservation in advance.

Unfortunately, the food was not very tasty and was laid out carelessly. The service wasn't good at all. Only at the end was it mentioned that only cash payment was possible. In addition, tips were simply withheld without being told.

The food was quite ok. With some things you could clearly see that they were prepared in the morning, but then not properly cooled or covered, so that, for example, the tartar sauce was already very dry. Unfortunately, a meal for the group was forgotten, but it was delivered in a timely manner. The service wasn't really friendly and only told us when we were paying that only cash would be accepted. A friend of mine also ordered a “fresh” beer that still had red lipstick on it from the previous one. Hygiene must therefore be questioned.
