Hacienda Mexican Restaurant in Kaiserslautern

One of our favorite restaurants. Very tasty, huge portions. Nice staff and not a long wait, even if the restaurant is full.

Tonight was once again disappointing. After today I can't help but give feedback here. The burito, which was supposed to be fried, wasn't crispy at all, but consisted of a slimy, moist, soft, square mass. Rice and beans have no taste, although that has always been the case, but other things used to be good. The only thing that was good on the last few visits was the home lemonade. The service staff wasn't at all interested in my feedback when clearing up that the food was not edible and that there were carrots in it, even though I had previously clearly stated that there shouldn't be any in it. He just said I would have gotten a new one if I had contacted you straight away, but to be honest I'm uncomfortable with having to return something completely straight away and I've really lost my appetite even after the slimy cover. Besides, I didn't want to wait and then eat when the others were almost finished. We used to love coming, it's a real shame that it got worse and worse and it doesn't even interest you if you give polite feedback that you could clearly understand on the plate. I would have liked an apology or some understanding or some reaction to the feedback after the many visits in the past and also for new guests. So that was it for now.

It's okay, I think there are better things out there, but if you're hungry and have some free time you can go there.

Price-performance is really absolutely great. The food was good and sufficient in quantity. We didn't have to wait long either. The staff is friendly and always quick. The price at the end was great. I can only recommend it.

Absolute catastrophe! There were 6 of us there, two people got the wrong starters, one person didn't get an entire main course (which was later charged anyway, but of course not paid for). The waiter was annoyed when you mentioned something that wasn't true. But the worst: In the dishes with chicken, the chicken tasted like tuna. We didn't think anything of it and ate it anyway. Bad mistake! Unless you want to spend the whole night in the bathroom with a terrible stomach ache! Never again!

I've eaten at myriad mexican restaurants all over the U.S. and would compare this to any middle of the road restaurant. It won't blow you out of the water but it is definitely someplace I would go to again.

Was there on different days and tried all you can eat ribs once and wings once - both absolutely satisfactory. Good seasoning, well prepared. The à la carte menu is varied and offers many other options. Overall, solid Mexican cuisine with a wide selection. The service is just that.

I highly recommend it, I love the food there

The waitress doesn't speak German properly and forgets part of the order twice in a row. Eating also takes far too long and only tastes mediocre - the only good thing was the extensive offerings on the menu.

Today it took longer than average. Otherwise, great as always.

It was the first and last time we went there to eat. Very old, outdated atmosphere at the start, the greeting from the kitchen was, in my opinion, ready-made salsa that was then stretched so that it hardly had any taste. My steak and also the fries, completely unseasoned, were slapped onto the plate with iceberg lettuce and tomatoes and a dollop of the ready-made dressing on top. My wife had fajita meat that was dry and tough and the remaining mush looked like it had been eaten before and was just thrown carelessly onto the plate

It was our first time at this Mexican restaurant and it was definitely our last time! My husband thought about turning back in the stairwell and it probably would have been best. The menus were very unkempt and smeared and the atmosphere wasn't very nice. We had a bad night: all of us, except our smallest son, who (luckily) only ate a nugget, had stomach cramps, vomiting, etc. So it was definitely the food. If we had read other reviews beforehand, we would have known we weren't the first. We suspect the vegetables (tomatoes, lettuce) and the minced meat because these were the things my son and husband had the same and both had it the worst. We will never go there again!!!

Been here again for a long time - even just because of the mistaken assumption that the favorite Mexican restaurant is closed. If only I had checked earlier. But today's visit to the hacienda. Service: fast but as emotional as three meters of dirt road. Feeling like a guest and welcome is something different. E.g. there was no question as to whether everything was OK. is or whether it tasted good. Chips and salsa delicious... just the amount of chips was very manageable. Drinks: Also quick, you can't really go wrong - I think. The strawberry margaritha was a strawberry smoothie in a water glass. No sugar rim but at least a straw for decoration. Starter: Chili con Queso an absolute joke - a tiny stainless steel bowl filled with ready-made, warmed cheese salsa (it tastes more exciting even in the cinema). The chips had to be sorted separately. Even my 9 year old daughter realized without trying that "it was bought and not homemade". The taste experience was accordingly. Main course: a burrito with chili con carne topping and a quesadilla with beef. The filling in the buritto is indefinable, the taste “goes like that”. Lielos prepared. The beef in the quesadilla was bone dry. Half remained lying there. All in all, not a nice experience and therefore the last time for many years.

I hadn't been to the Hacienda in ages until a friend asked if I wanted to come along. Went there without a reservation on a Sunday evening and managed to get a seat, but it was busy. Accordingly, the background noise is a little higher. Service came quickly with a menu and drink requests. Likewise the tortillas with the salsa. What was chosen and the starter was received relatively quickly, the main course came at the right time afterwards. Unfortunately, for two out of four dishes, the food was brought to the table more lukewarm than hot. I don't need it to be so hot that you burn your tongue, but in that case I would have liked it to be a little warmer. It was a bit annoying then. The taste was okay. However, it's not so outstanding that I 'absolutely' have to visit the Hacienda again in the near future. There are alternatives in and around Kaiserslautern that were more convincing. Priced within the local range. Service friendly and attentive.

The food is very good!! No long waiting times and always nice staff! The atmosphere is exceptional and everything is very clean! The prices are affordable too! I've been eating there for 25 years! Always a pleasure

Overall an average restaurant experience. Some of the waiters only speak English. Unfortunately we had the misfortune of sitting near the kitchen. Whenever the door opens you can hear noise from the kitchen. Unfortunately there is no national music (or no music at all). Unfortunately the food is pretty bland, you should definitely try the hot sauces. The moderate prices are positive.

Great atmosphere with delicious food and good service.

The food is really good and big portions. What was great was that I and my colleague only arrived half an hour before closing time and we were still able to order and eat in peace.

Went to this restaurant for the first time with friends on Sunday. The service was friendly at first, but after 8:30 p.m. the friendliness stopped. Because they close at 9 p.m. The salsa sauce was very watery. My wife was given rancid salad oil with her salad. After our complaint, the salad was replaced immediately, but we didn't get any other oil. My burrito was wobbly and soggy. Taste ok. Here came the awakening in the night. I was very nauseous and you can imagine the rest... The cocktails at the end consisted only of ice and water. Hardly any taste or content. Definitely the first and last time there. Not recommended.

Quite large rooms, so you have to expect medium waiting times. Conditions are then really fixed and they do their job well. In my opinion, the food was pretty average. We were satisfied and would come again if we were nearby.

Almost all of the food was frozen food. Nothing was homemade here at all! Each of us had cold food. Some of it was so salty that it wasn't edible. Orders for changes ended up being wrong. Friends ordered the beans and I had them on a dish without beans, beans on top. Brownie was also just frozen food and still rock hard, with spray cream from a can. Service was absolutely not professional, sometimes we had to wait forever. Toilets were reasonably clean, but so freezing cold that you hardly dare to take off your clothes. There was no parking nearby either. The floor shakes as if there was a bowling alley above it.

Unfortunately the quality of the food is no longer good. In the last 7 years everything has been consistently reduced. Unfortunately we won't be coming anymore.

The three of us came here for dinner. The portions were large enough and tasty. After we placed our order, we were served a large portion of nachos with salsa. The service was friendly and we were served quickly after we raised the flag at the table.

The food is absolutely terrible , after speaking on my food being nasty and sending it back I was told “no the food is good” by the manager then charged for the food I had taken a singular bite of.

The cocktails are great and the service goes to great lengths. However, the food is not particularly good. The salsa is completely flavorless and the tortillas taste like baked cardboard. As for the guacamole, I'm not even sure if it's ever seen an avocado. I was more disappointed than thrilled.

Rice is over cooked, please don’t come here and waste your money. Mango margarita didn’t taste good tasted like was and alcohol no flavor. Steak fajita big chunks no flavor.

The all you can eat ribs offer is great

The service was great, the wait was short, our waiter was very professional, and had a great understanding of the menu. The food was tasty. The ribs could be a lot more tender though. I would definitely recommend.

If i could give this place a negative 5 stars, I would. This place is horrible. Went on a Wednesday, drink specials is two for one margaritas. Sounds good, right? NOPE! They were small and nasty. I had the original lime and a mango. Both were nasty. Lime tastes like salt water, mango taste like they forgot to put tequila in it. Food was room temp and dry like they microwaved it. Nasty, everything was nasty. And we got the sampler platter. They are not authentic at all(as they claimed they were)! Flower tortillas, cold meat, iceberg lettuce and cheese on their tacos. The meat inside the tamales were not only cold but taste nasty AND was hard. And the waiter never came to check on us after we got our nasty food. We had to walk up and ask how to pay (which they were supposed come give us the check like they did engine else). Please, PLEASE don’t waste your money here. Or if you do, please don’t give them fake good reviews that’ll trick others.

Cheap, good food. The waitresses are always quick and the kitchen doesn't take long either.

I found the stay quite pleasant. We were served quickly and the food came to the bill quite quickly. However, I had to wait a long time and had to go to Go to reception to pay. For me the price/performance ratio isn't quite right here... it's a bit too expensive for what you get. You can get much better and fresher burritos in the area for the same price…

Too crowded and the tables are quite close together. If you have to go to the toilet you can hardly get through without disturbing others (strangers) while you eat, the service staff doesn't work hand in hand. Not handicapped accessible. The food was rather unseasoned, the steak was briefly fried at too little heat and came to the table cold. Piña Colada tasted like nothing. It's a shame, we're used to better things from Tex-Mex cuisine. But I can do it better at home. Will not visit our site again.

We were there with a group for a birthday. Sat there in the “next room”. The drinks were picked up quickly and brought relatively quickly. After that, no more service staff came for ages. After one person in our group asked at the counter whether we could possibly order, they only pointed to another waitress who was probably responsible for us. It took another while until someone finally came to take the order. In my opinion, the starters such as mozzarella sticks were frozen, but the quality was okay. The supposedly homemade chili jam is a ready-made chili sauce that can be found in every supermarket. My main course, the steak and the "fried potatoes" with onions and baked beans, were only lukewarm, and the steak, contrary to what I ordered, was not medium rare. Furthermore, the fried potatoes were not fried potatoes, but a frozen product, which has nothing remotely to do with fried potatoes and both the potatoes and the onions were half so salty that it was impossible to eat them (you have that Still saw salt on it!) For dessert I ordered a hot chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and cream. This course was relatively acceptable, apart from the fact that the brownie was only slightly lukewarm and so hard (baked?) in the middle that you could hardly break it with a spoon. Finally, a word about the drinks: almost everyone was of the opinion that the drinks (Cola, Spezi) tasted very watered down. Unfortunately, based on my experiences, I cannot recommend this restaurant!

First and last time !! Food was horrible.. I'm currently sitting on the toilet with a blown out anus.. possible food poisoning. Great atmosphere but horrible food..

We have considered it the best Mexican restaurant in the area for over 30 years. Huge selection at fair prices. I usually get the facitas and my wife gets the large taco salad. As always, we were very satisfied. And a full Loka,l after all the tough competition nearby speaks for itself.

Service satisfactory but even on a birthday you can get something but there in every restaurant! Unfortunately, Margarita only tasted soapy and bitter. When it came to billing, we weren't even asked who paid what and simply created an invoice for everyone. The food was quite okay. But I think you should put a little more effort into the service!

I ordered tacos there. Unfortunately they weren't as authentic as I'm used to. The tortillas were not corn tortillas but more like the standard ones you get in supermarkets made from wheat flour. Very little meat and the sauce wasn't that good either.

Update December 2024: Again very good. Service very friendly. Be sure to reserve! Food tasted very good. Service was extremely friendly, even though the place was full. Price-performance top. We'd love to come back.

We were eating at the Hacienda last night and when we pushed the small tablecloth in the middle aside to make more space, there were still leftover food there from definitely longer than yesterday or the day before. After that we honestly lost our appetite. When we asked the waitress about it, she neither apologized nor was offered any kind of compensation and the tip was kept when paying without this being communicated on our part. We found that very bold; In addition, there were still leftovers on the table.

For years I went to this restaurant. Always great food.

Spare ribs tough, Hamburguesa Mexicana heartlessly applauded and no sauce, nothing for fries, not even asked, waited over an hour for the food and then it was almost cold, La Hacienda had inexplicable things on it, glasses were only cleared away at the end. I think it's a shame that it's like that, I don't know if it's because of the day we came from or the prehistoric times, but I didn't think it was that good today. At least the ambience is okay.

We have been there many times and have always been very satisfied. Yesterday, however, was a disaster! Service left a lot to be desired. Even though we were sitting at the entrance we were constantly overlooked. We really understand when things are hectic, but there really wasn't that much going on yesterday... The sauce for the nachos at the beginning was waterier than ever. Our food, well. It was always good. But yesterday.... Cold fries... Fried dishes were more like rubber instead of crispy. Only the mozzarella sticks were crispy. The worst thing, however, is that my husband must have had something bad, rather stale...apparently leftovers were warmed up after the closed Saturday. I won't go into further detail here about what my husband went through at home. Anyway, this was our last visit!!!

I've been eating at the Hacienda for about 30 years, 3 or 4 times a year is simply a must. The nice thing is, you never have to make a reservation, we always find a place. I love the greeting from the kitchen, the taccos with dip. We always order 2 large different types of wings and eat half of them the next day. They taste even better when warmed up. I always order a tacco salad with it You should just pay attention to it, don't If you order too fattening things, then the Hacienda is perfect!👌

Found the food subpar. The salsa tasted like water and dish soap, the chicken burrito tasted fishy. I thought: This is what cat food must taste like. Tastes vary, but I don't understand why the place was so busy. At least the staff was friendly, although we waited quite a long time for the food. I didn't like the ambience. In my opinion, quantity rather than quality and definitely my first and last visit.

Very friendly service. We were 3 adults and 2 children. No advance reservation necessary. Large amount of space. The food was delivered to the table in a timely manner, not a long wait. And thank you very much for the greeting from the kitchen.😋We could have even been filled up with chips/nachos.

We were in the hacienda for the first time today. The food was super tasty. Price-performance top. I'm particularly impressed that only one waitress comes when you raise the flag. You have peace and quiet and aren't asked questions every five minutes. We'll be back

I ate there with my boyfriend because I heard it was good. I was very disappointed with the food, it tasted okay but when we got home we both had a lot of stomach pain and nausea 🤢 I would never go there again!

Were there this evening. Unfortunately only one service employee spoke to us. The other employees were not communicative. We waited more than 1 hour for food. The food used to be better. Only the Terryaki wings were really recommended.

Had dinner there for the first time in 10 years and we were very positively surprised. You have to climb 3 small flights of stairs to get to the restaurant, but there is great food and drinks at reasonable prices waiting for you. The portions are sufficient and the starters are delicious and a large selection of drinks.

Great service, nice and friendly service, brilliant chips as an opener, overall very good food, spicy prepared, nice large portions and all at a fair price. What more could you want? Not least for all these reasons in my personal top 3 😁 *****5 stars**** and fully recommended!!! Update: Was there three weeks ago, apparently a new chef and unfortunately he doesn't have it at all: Rice overcooked Fajitas without any taste unlike before Red beans mushy and mushy Side salad used to be awesome, but now it's without any tricks There is a lack of the necessary spice and skill here....simply unbelievable.... Conclusion: I'll go again, if it's that "lousy" again then it will definitely be the last time. I wonder how you can crash so brutally from 5 stars to a maximum of half a star...!!?? If they close at some point, then I would say it was because of the (new) chef... Very, very sad.... 😞😓

Very yummy food and dessert they’re delicious and the people were so nice the waiters and they had the cute little flag to draw attention to the waiters which was very cool I love this and I would come again

The Hacienda is my absolute insider tip for a great dining experience in a cozy, Mexican atmosphere. I'm particularly enthusiastic about the "all-you-can-eat ribs", which make every visit a highlight. The ribs are incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned and just plain delicious. The generous portions and the ability to reorder as desired make the whole thing unbeatable. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere invites you to relax. For lovers of ribs and good Mexican food, Hacienda is a must. Clear 5 stars!

The restaurant looks very nice, there are spatial divisions everywhere that offer more privacy. There is also a room where these are missing, for parties and larger celebrations, for example. The service was very good, we were greeted warmly and the waiter always had a smile. The starter was tasty, but both of our main courses were soggy, even though the menu said they were fried. Everything was in a sauce that tasted indefinable. My vegetarian plate was also cooked for too long (as if it had been heated in the microwave) and the consistency was much too soft. The homemade lemonade was very sweet, but that depends on the taste. Since it was our second time there and we always ate something different, I can say that I liked the small dishes, which were also crispy.
