Great restaurant with very good Mexican food

The restaurant was exceptionally busy but I was managed to be seated quickly. Food was the best Mexican food I’d had in Europe - the queso was excellent and the mole enchiladas were flavorful. The rice and beans were authentic. Service was excellent as well.

Surprisingly amazing mexican food, kid friendly & nicely decorated. Great place to eat! Beware, the margaritas 🍹 are very strong 😉 (you can also order them to go 🤫) Order the enchiladas & chicken tortilla soup 👌🏽 I never pay so idk if it's cost friendly 🙃

The ambience is rather loud, but the food and service make up for it. Great food, very tasty, fast service, very friendly. Please be sure to reserve, otherwise you won't have a table, especially on weekends.

It was our first time there and we were surprised at how friendly the service was and how busy it was, luckily we had reserved. We sat down full of anticipation for good Mexican food. The service shone with friendliness and attentiveness, here 5 stars. The start with appetizer sampling was quite okay, but I had hoped for a little more, and also from the homemade lemonade, since all three of us drank one, but once normal and once with mint and once with ginger, we couldn't notice a big difference in taste notice. Unfortunately, the chili con carne was very, very spicy and, although my daughter had specially ordered it without onions, it was prepared with onions. The crowd was also very large and overall it was very one-sided. Unfortunately, my Enchilada Acapulco was a disappointment. The rice tasted like nothing, the enchiladas were a disappointment and the Mexican beans were pureed beans. The presentation of the plate was very bland and the taste of the food was irrelevant. My wife's tacos caseros weren't any better, and the amount of filling was really manageable. Maybe the cuisine wasn't to our liking or we were just unlucky, but we wouldn't go there again.

Number 1 or 2 for Mexican food in the area.

No ribs no beer and one of our friends was up all night with bad stomach throwing up and running out of the other end , I've been going there for over 25 years but no longer

We have been coming here for years on the way to/from France to eat Mexican food, which is rarely available in our region. Unfortunately the food is no longer as good as it used to be. The guacamole was just an avocado dip without the typical taste and the filling of the burito was rather bland and tasteless.

I had the tamale plate and the whole plate of food was not good. Once the waitress came to collect the other plates she asked me if I liked my food. I said I did not like the food and she had the manager come and talk to me which was nice. I was not upset about not eating dinner. The manager stated she tried some of the food and it wasn't their best and I wasn't charged for the food just my soda I had🤔

Ordered Birria tacos with the sampler dip, and the chicken steak and shrimp fajita. The birria does not come with consume. I was very shocked by this!. The dip was mediocre and the guacamole needed salt. The chips aren’t homemade, just some bagged garbage. The fajita was seasoned well and was good compared to all the other food I tried. 5/10, not returning

Very attentive staff. Mega delicious food, best margaritas and cocktails. Favorite Mexican for many years. We like to drive 75km one way for this.

The attention is very good. The meat is delicious. It's cheap for the amount of food they put out. The place is huge so there is always room without having to make a reservation. I recommend it to everyone. Thank you.

Customer service was great. Food left a lot to be desired for me. With the price and the way the parking lot was packed… I had higher expectations. Maybe people go there for the drinks vs the food.

Planned farewell dinner for our specialist training - what can I say, everything was great from the start. Nice table - you should reserve in advance. The service is always friendly, courteous and thoughtful. The ambience is well thought out Mexican, not superimposed, no kitsch. An overwhelming selection of tacos, enchilladas, burritos, etc... Food hot, tasty and beautifully presented. The only star deduction for the women's sanitary area, which was used by men late at night and was dirty - a well-known problem. Otherwise everything was really great, very nice outdoor terrace with a smoking lounge, which unfortunately cannot be used when it rains due to the lack of a roof. Clear recommendation, especially because of the huge selection of tequila - you should take a big wallet with you 😉

Sadly nothing good to say about this place ! On a Saturday night we went there with a big group of people, we all ordered food after a while everyone got their dish unfortunately I was still waiting . After almost an hour of waiting the told me they don’t have the food I’ve ordered… me HEAVILY PREGNANT and hungry got to deal with the attitude of the waitress and if this is not already a nightmare they handed me a coupon of 5 dollars . I would never go back there again, it’s by far the worst experience I ever had .

We went on a Friday without a reservation and they let us sit at a table for a couple of hours, which is appreciated for the courtesy. The food, drinks and service were fast. We liked everything we ordered. Tasty and well seasoned. The drinks are also delicious. Great variety of tequila. We only miss music, a deep silence. Something that was also missing, air circulation, we sat in a corner that in the middle of summer we were sweating all the time. I recommend it without a doubt and we will go again.

The shop was packed but the staff still tried to find a table. Even without a reservation. Price-performance is unbeatable and the service is quick and friendly despite the full restaurant. The food is also simply very tasty. Only recommended.

I just had a very awkward, and disappointing experience here tonight. One I called in a order at 7:10 and I arrived at 7:30, I was wild my order was made but waiting 30 minutes later at the bar before someone noticed me my order was never started. I all I wanted was a el Diablo chimichanga and a small margarita to go. The hostess was nice and made sure my order was priority at that point and it came out fairly quick. 2nd thing is the price of this margarita listed. The el Diablo on the menu says 14 euro, on the website there's no margarita price. My total ended up being 35 euros. That means this one margarita cost 21 euro which I highly do not believe and I felt I was overcharged badly. I wish I could ask for a refund but I never even got a receipt. Please fix this problem because I have at a lot of restaurants and don't believe this margarita cost 21 euro...

I am Mexican, if I could recommend this place, I cannot say that the food tastes very authentic, except for the horchata water, if it is the same, but in general, a craving if it covers it.

Always good. Margaritas good. Reservation is required sometime because they might be busy. It's probably the best Mexican restaurant in Ktown. Parking can be hard if packed.

A regular guest for 24 years. No further comment is actually necessary. The food is Mexican super (mega) good. The service is very friendly and accommodating and responds fantastically positively to customer restrictions.

This is the richest and most economical option It has a very varied menu, here I show you a little in the photos. The place is very clean . The employees are very friendly and speak Spanish - English - German - ..... in short it is an almost perfect place. Another beautiful detail is that you can bring your pet to the restaurant and it will offer water to your pet 💛

I loved my visit to Cantina Mexicana! The fajitas were incredibly tasty and perfectly seasoned, the margaritas were refreshing and mixed just right. The sir loin steak was cooked to perfection and simply delicious. I was particularly impressed with the carne asada, which was tender and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere authentic and inviting. An absolute must for Mexican cuisine lovers! I'll definitely come back.

Cantina Mexicana is my favorite Mexican restaurant, I've been coming here at least once or twice a year for years and I never get bored. I like the beautiful ambience inside, the airy area outside, the selection of drinks, the always courteous, friendly service and of course the super delicious food ❤️ I usually eat a combo and always like authentic street food. The delicious desserts are also always recommended. 😋 Always nice, always recommended!

2nd time going. The first time, I had the cantina chimichanga, and I thought ok. It's the beans, and rice is where it's at. The salsa sauce they gave me was like ok. Then we went back and I ordered 3 tacos. The pastor was good. The chicken was good, but the beans and rice... they are real beans and rice. What I mean is that it's not powdered beans or watered-down beans. Whoever makes the dang beans knows his stuff. My wife's taco salad was delicious, and my little one wanted a bean and cheese taco....they made them for her, and she ate both. Very good service both times. We will be back to try other dishes. The salsa also had flavor. Tried all their spicy salsas and they were better than other places I've tried.

As a long-time customer, I am now very surprised: some of the food is cold, poorly seasoned and portions are halved in size compared to months ago and 50% more expensive. In addition, side dishes such as beans and rice have now been removed from the main meal and offered as a paid side dish. A handful of rice, lukewarm, almost €4.00. You can also overdo it with the price increase.......

My husband and I come here quite often on date nights. We both enjoy the food and haven’t had a bad experience thus far. We have both been coming here for almost 3 years. Service is great. The waiters and waitresses have always been very polite. The restaurant itself is very clean. They make really good mojitos and horchata. I’m not going to specifically recommended any particular dish as I’ve tried a little bit of everything here and there and it’s all good. I think anyone would be happy with coming here!

I've known it for 35 years and have been there many times over the years and the restaurant has never deteriorated, on the contrary. Over the years I have been able to see how a small gas station became an ever larger, very good restaurant with its own wonderful flair. Great, keep it up.

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be. The 2-hour slots after Corona are understandable, but they put you under a lot of time pressure. I like to eat the baked nachos as a starter when I'm alone as a children's portion. Was never a problem. Now absolutely no longer possible. Good, money saved! The Takko salad has avocado in the picture, so I was surprised why people asked about it. To add just under 6 euros more. The food was delicious, but for me it was the last time, as you were sitting completely squashed together with strangers. Disappointing.

Excellent fajitas and large portions! They won't take the cilantro out of their guacamole or salsa because it's pre-made, but otherwise, no complaints and worth a visit... or two.

Ein sehr us-amerikanisiertes TexMexLokal. Die Speisen wurden definitiv auf us-amerikanische Wünsche angepasst und sind wenig authentisch, durchweg sehr fettig und wenig gewürzt. Man bekommt es zuhause besser hin. Man sollte sich ein Beispiel von El Taqito aus Karlsruhe nehmen. Habe schon oft in ganz Deutschland beim Mexikaner gegessen. Das war das schlechteste Mexikanische Essen. Die Salsa ist quasi ausschließlich aus pürierte Dosentomaten - was man schmeckt - und von Koriander, Schärfe oder gut gewürztem authentischen Geschmack ist wenig da. Habe die Bedingung nach Schärfe gefragt, habe gewartet aber nix bekommen.

Germany doesn't do TexMex well, but this place is one of the closer versions of it. They've got some interesting items like the Carne Asada burrito that has French fries in it but also more authentic Mexican food like chimichangas, enchiladas, burritos, and tamales. The atmosphere is pretty nice and the service staff are always genuine. Highly recommend calling ahead if you are gonna have a large party.

Very crowded, you can only get a seat with a reservation. As a result, the volume was very high and everything was a bit crowded (five people at a table of four is not recommended). We barely had room for all the plates at the table. The service was very friendly and attentive, the price was good and the food was delicious.

The decoration is very cute, but the price-performance ratio is not okay. Normally you get a free appetizer at the Mexican restaurant, but here you don't get anything like that. For the fajitas, rice and beans (normally included!) have to be paid extra at €5.50. It all tastes somehow the same and not particularly outstanding. Hot sauces or spices are missing on the table. I don't understand all the good reviews, there are many other restaurants where you can get better food for less money. Plus points only because of the waitresses, they were really nice, quick and always there!

Nothing about this restaurant feels authentic. If you're not turned off by the Mexican pirate standing up front, walk in to sit at a dirty table in a dusty, dark restaurant. The decor feels disingenuous and stereotypical, some of which looks like it's falling apart. The salsa is more like tomato sauce than salsa. Another salsa we had was like gravy. Food is improperly seasoned. Tacos loaded with cheese? Prices are high for what you're getting. I don't know what these other reviews are talking about regarding authenticity but they are obviously not from Mexico. When have hard shell tacos ever been considered authentic? There are better Mexican food options in the area! I am pretty surprised by how professional and graceful the owner is in their response to my review, though. From here on out, I will be referred to as the prophet.

Best Mexican we've ever been to :) everything was great

The food was tasty but could have been spiced up a bit more. The service and waiting time were really bad, I've never had food so quickly. The maximum stay is 2 hours, which I think is a bit stupid if you want to eat comfortably and you feel pressured. We only had 15 minutes left with dessert.

Food is pretty bland. They also messed up my salad which I asked for no cheese on. I asked them to fix it and they just scooped it out and there was still some cheese in it. So I asked them to remake it and they did, I shouldn't have had to ask for it to be remade. I'm fortunate I don't have an allergy but they should be more careful.

Simply the best Mexican in the Southwest. There is simply nothing here that doesn't taste good. Plus great service and great cocktails

Found the food subpar. A ready-made mush. It annoyed me to spend money on it. It's super loud and dirty. The "decoration" next to the table was broken and dusty. Simply focused on mass production rather than ambience and class.

The best Mexican restaurant I've been to so far and the service was super friendly and helpful. We will be back definitely. The only negative point was that it was relatively noisy and you should reserve a table in advance as it gets quite crowded towards the evening.

A very Americanized TexMex joint. The service and also the drinks are very good. The dishes were definitely adapted to American wishes and are not very authentic, very fatty and not very seasoned. The salsa is almost exclusively pureed canned tomatoes - which you can taste - and there is little of coriander, spiciness or well-seasoned authentic taste. The portions are quite large and the price is relatively normal. The furnishings/decoration are very stereotypical and the atmosphere is very loud and American but I guess that is also the main clientele here. Good for family celebrations or when you're drunk and feel like eating a lot quickly. Authentic Mexican experience, not so much. But this is certainly all a matter of personal preference.
