Many things can be cooked better at home, but it's quite cheap here.

Extremely affordable canteen, lunch dishes for €4.50, some dishes like pasta with Bolognese sauce even for €4! Of course, you can expect "only" canteen/commercial kitchen fare, meaning, for example, frozen vegetables, but there's nothing wrong with that. Convenience in the snacks that are offered additionally (currywurst, fries, sauerfleisch, herring, etc.) The cooking skills shine through; the main courses are homemade, and the gravies are made from the roast's base and not just from a packet. It's solid, home-style cooking that's filling and tastes perfectly fine. Not too hearty for a lunch break, with a relatively high vegetable content, which I think is good. Breakfast is also very affordable and good value for money. They offer half-fresh rolls with various spreads for €1 (salami, cheese, hummus, etc.) to €1.50 (e.g., salmon), along with filter coffee (€1) or coffee variations from the fully automatic machine (€1.50 for a latte macchiato or a latte). There's no service so far; it's self-service, but the owner, Guido, is always friendly (unless you break the COVID-19 rules, in which case you'll be rightfully yelled at).
