Grohe Brauhaus in Darmstadt

The Brauhaus Grohe is the first address for me in Darmstadt if I want to enjoy good local cuisine and spend a nice evening with friends. You are guaranteed to get excellent beer and really good home-style dishes here. The only thing I wouldn't eat here is the Kässpätzle because they're spelled incorrectly and come with dried onions and no salad, but I would never order them outside of the Spätzleländle anyway. A variety of Hessian and Rhenish culinary delicacies await you here. Clean it and cheers!

The food was very good. Of course we enjoyed tasty Grohe beer. It's always worth a visit when driving through, to get off the motorway, have a good meal and of course buy very good, tasty beer directly from the microbrewery. For me, German beers are simply much better and tastier than our Swiss beers. The service is always very friendly and accommodating

The plan was to eat goose - goose breast with dumplings, sauce and Brussels sprouts, a lamb's lettuce with raspberry dressing first, and a hefeweizen with it. It was so delicious - and a really generous portion! In my opinion, goose is always a bit tricky because it tends to be dry - but this goose breast was as it should be: juicy and tender! Plus a nice thick sauce to portion yourself, two dumplings and a bowl of creamed Brussels sprouts. A great meal! We sat comfortably on the 1st floor (reserved in advance). The background noise is quite present - but that's to be expected with a full house. We were still able to have a great chat. All I can say about the service is: great! Very attentive but not intrusive, extremely friendly and relaxed. Thanks to the kitchen and “our” two service boys (Matthias and ?) - thanks to you we had a really nice evening!

Those who like beer have come to the right place...

The food is very tasty and the portions are decent. The service is great, you don't have to wait long. There are many delicious beers.

Really a lovely old inn/brewery with charm. Food was delicious and you didn't have to wait long. Unfortunately, the tables and chairs were very tightly packed together. As a result, the noise level was slightly higher. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking is difficult, but there is a parking garage about 5 minutes away (center parking garage). Not suitable for people with wheelchairs. Entrance has stairs and toilet in the basement.

Very good location in Darmstadt. The beer is very tasty, especially the “Grohe naturwolke” (of course it’s a matter of taste 😉). Unfortunately, this variety is only available locally. Although it belongs to the Darmstadt brewery (which doesn't mean to sound negative), its originality has been preserved! The service is very attentive + always friendly. By the way: you can also find something “extraordinary” here, food and drink that is not typical of a beer garden. Reservations are strongly recommended...

The beer is very good and the place is nice. Not much else in Darmstadt so if you're looking for a brewery, it's probably here! Small downside on the tarte flambée with too many fried onions. Not useful. But the other dishes looked very good.

We went to your crime dinner last night. Actors great, location in the hall great, service quick and friendly, unfortunately the food from starter to dessert was a failure. The amount of food returned probably spoke volumes :-(

Great atmosphere in the brewery's old inn and of course delicious beer, food and selection is ok but mostly you're there for the beer and if you want you can also knock on a keg here 🤩👌

The schnitzel was somewhat okay but too small. The fried potatoes were carelessly taken from the bag to the pan, roughly chopped and without onions, bacon or any spices worth mentioning - there was a complete lack of sophistication. 18€ is just too expensive in my opinion. Paying was a real nuisance: there was probably only one EC device and a larger group was paying in the hall. We had no choice but to wait until we were finally allowed to pay (lots of guests). In the end, after 20 minutes in the rain, I went to the ATM to cut the whole thing short since there was no end to the drama in sight. A little tip to the team: Situations like this can happen, but it depends on how you deal with them. A small gesture like a drink on the house while waiting and a friendly apology could have made a big difference. Instead, they responded with annoyance and told us that other guests were to blame because they paid individually. Why do I care what other guests do? My job is to pay, it's the restaurant's job to make it happen.

The cheese spaetzle had hardly any cheese and therefore hardly any taste..

As a vegetarian you feel a bit like a second class guest here. The selection is very limited and the dishes, in terms of concept and quantity, are simply side dishes without meat. In terms of taste, the food was "good", as expected from a brewery, i.e. a lot of fat, well seasoned but no finesse. The beers (non-alcoholic and with alcohol) are “very good” in my opinion. The tables are a bit cramped.

Recommended a table on weekends evening. beer taster is absolute fav! also the beer barrel if you have more than 6 people then definitely try this! we also love to eat the flamkuchen as we are vegetarian and we love the onion and cheese flamkuchen. great ambiance and very quick service.

The brewery has a pleasant atmosphere, but is rather simple. There was an unpleasant smell in the hall. The service wasn't very attentive and generally seemed a bit annoyed. We had to wait a long time for drinks and the bill. The food was okay considering the price, but could have used a little more seasoning. All in all, the visit was absolutely fine. However, we wouldn't come back again.

We had dinner here with friends and not for the first time. Unfortunately, not much has changed with the food, but the prices are very outrageous! The conditions are friendly but very pushy and intrusive. GROHE is a name here, but unfortunately there is nothing more to recommend here than the specially brewed beer.

Here you can sit very nicely in the backyard. Fast and friendly service. The food was quick and tasty. You should definitely try the house beer. Prices reasonable. Gladly again!!!

A good German restaurant that offers a lot of different things. I had the cheese spaetzle which was really good. Since the cheese was very strong, I would have liked a salad included. My companion had the Frankfurter Schnitzel. It tasted good, but it was a small portion with just a few fried potatoes, which is why we also ordered the fried potato pan with egg. This was also delicious. I would recommend the draft beer and the non-alcoholic house beer as drinks. In summer the inner courtyard invites you to linger and enjoy the weather, in winter the rustic restaurant. We'd love to come back!

A true classic in Darmstadt. You get good beer and excellent dishes from the Hessian culinary culture. The prices are between 10-20€ per dish, absolutely fine. The atmosphere is great, especially outside. I can only recommend it!

🥩Schnitzel €16.5 Configuration: Pork chop, fried potato cubes, pickled cabbage, lemon slices I originally wanted to eat at the market place, but I saw on the menu that the steak was over 20 yuan, so I walked an extra 6 minutes to come here. The restaurant has a small garden and feels like it is full of locals. The outer layer of the potato cubes is fried to a crispy texture. The cabbage is pickled slightly sour, removing the fishy smell and keeping it crispy. The skin and meat will separate when the pork chop is cut. Lemon slices are really difficult to use, and lemon wedges are much easier to squeeze. - 🍺Grohe Radler €3.9 Beer + Lemon Sprite, made into an alcohol-free version, the taste is a little lighter, but the original lemon-free alcohol beer is more delicious. - 📷2024/08/16

Always good. Basic German food but dine very well. They have flights of beers as well (they have good beer as well). The entire menu is delicious, and service is always great. It's in a great spot near everything as well. We go here once a month.

They offer a wide variety of brews, from crisp lagers to rich stouts, and each one was exceptional. You can tell that they take pride in their brewing process, as every sip is packed with flavor. Finally, if you visit, you must try the Haxe dish. It’s hands down the best I’ve had! The meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, paired with traditional sides that complement the dish beautifully. Whether you’re a beer lover is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

You should definitely make a reservation in advance, but then the beer garden is really nice. The service was quick and friendly and the food and drinks were delicious and filling.

The Grohe Brauhaus is cult! If you haven't laughed, cried and eaten and drunk well here, you haven't been to Darmstadt! Directly in the beer garden in the brewery courtyard or in the rustic restaurant, you will be served with heart and hospitality. Always my pleasure. The completely renovated hall on the 1st floor is the new insider tip!

GROHE remains Grohe - I've been drinking beer there for 49 years!

The beer garden is very. Only the Heiner schnitzel wasn't good. I've eaten better. Everything was too greasy, the fried potatoes and coleslaw didn't have enough flavor.

The place has very good Haxe and food in general. Most waiters are very friendly but recently we had an annoying experience with one of them asking if we want more beer more than 5 times (although many tables were still available and it was way before closing time)

We had been meaning to visit the Grohe Brauhaus for ages. The home-brewed beer tastes delicious and is freshly tapped. 🍺The food is really great. We sat in the beer garden, which is beautifully overgrown with vines along the wall. There are enough parasols available. The toilet across the yard is very clean 👍. Transport connections nearby. Everything was great 👍.

The origin of the rustic beer with regional cuisine

The food was very appealing, the service was friendly and took the time to take the order, including any special requests. A visit is also worth it just because of the tasty beer. We'd love to come back.

Conclusion: unfortunately it doesn't work anymore! Disappointing across the board. We had the Reindlessen for 2 people at €19.90 per head each!!! There was 1 schnitzel, 1 bratwurst, 1 beef sausage and a rib with no less than 6 mini rib bones on it, mind you for 2 people. Good portion of sauerkraut and really bland fried potatoes. We were really looking forward to this because of the past. However, they were absolutely nothing. Not even really cut into small pieces, barely fried and dripping with fat. Had nothing to do with fried potatoes. And the meat portions mentioned above were unfortunately not filling, although the taste was okay. The service? Well, it might have been enough for a village pub, but in our opinion not for the Grohe. We have known the restaurant for a good 35 years now but unfortunately that was the last time. For a nice beer, please. A pity.

Very tasty food. However, we were served very unfriendly. When the weather turned, we asked if we could go inside. This was rudely denied, everything was full. Afterwards we saw other guests go in.

With a group in the Grohe Brauhaus in the upper hall. When almost all the tables were occupied, it was very loud. The service was great, saw when a glass was empty and came straight away to take the order. I can't say much about the food because I only ate a dessert called "Darmstädter Ebbelränzscher". But that was very tasty! The others were also very satisfied with their food.

A Darmstadt authority for beer connoisseurs

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Grohe Restaurant in Darmstadt, reinforced by the unsatisfactory exchange of emails with the management. After celebrating a birthday with a group of eight, we were shocked to discover an additional charge of 10 euros for bringing our own cake (we took beers and had lunch 8 people). Not only were we not informed of this fee during our meal, but we were also not provided with utensils or plates for the cake. In response to my email expressing my dissatisfaction, the management's reply was dismissive and lacked any semblance of customer service. Instead of addressing our concerns with empathy and understanding, they chose to justify the charge and even criticized our actions of bringing a cake without prior permission and using six additional napkins when eating the cake.The tone of their response was condescending, insinuating we do not know how to behave in a restaurant. This level of arrogance and disregard for customer satisfaction is something I have never experienced before.

Brewery with beer garden just outside the city center, conveniently located on the tram. Very good beers, worth trying. Service attentive and quick. Food is delicious and in filling portions at moderate prices. When we are back in Darmstadt, we will stop by again.

Beautiful beer garden almost in the heart of Darmstadt. What I think is cool is that you can also make a reservation outside. Great service. I have rarely experienced as many times as we were asked for drinks. Keep it up from the 6 of us 👌. Food hearty and delicious. As it should be in a beer garden. If you love Grohe, you've come to the right place. Oh and the delivery times for the drinks are also super fast, here too big compliments to the tappers. Prices are ok for beer and co. There are more expensive beer gardens there I'm looking forward to the next visit

Nice brewery atmosphere but... the service is even nicer 😁. Very fast, extremely friendly, relaxed and always with a cool saying. You can tell that he is having fun at work, so the guest is having fun too. The food was good 👍🏽, even if you really liked the ribs. It's not the kitchen's fault. So we're still happy to do it again.

I've been coming to Grohe since my youth and was there again last Sunday with friends. This time I unfortunately have to say that the food was a disappointment. A friend asked if he could get some steamed onions with the meatloaf, which he did. But I thought charging an extra €1 for a tablespoon of onions was very excessive. I'm used to butter being served with cooked cheese with bread. You had to ask where the butter was. There was then a small portion of butter for three pieces of bread. To stay with the truth, both meals tasted good. Now to my...I had potato salad with pork chops. The potato salad had raw pieces in it and the chop was fried to death. I asked do you have a new chef, which was answered in the negative. I was looking forward to it because I always enjoyed eating it at Grohe. The only bright spot is the beer is still very good.

A great brewery, with sumptuous food, delicious beer and a hearty ambience

We have been to the Grohe several times over the last 20 years. Unfortunately we were very disappointed today. Whether cutlet or schnitzel, all breadings were too salty. Fortunately, this kitchen mishap can be made up for with beer. But unfortunately the service today and also on the last visit was subpar. Despite the reservation, the head waiter wanted the table to be freed quickly for the next guests. Incidentally, the same thing happened to the people sitting next to me at the table. When I pay I keep it ok. d. R. so that I pay by card and then give the service staff a tip in cash. Anyone who can think along with the service staff will certainly be happy about this gift. But the waiter asked several times whether there was no extra charge when paying by card. As soon as the payment process was finished, the waiter turned his back on us without saying a word. So there was no tip either. It's a shame that the head waiter lost good customers to the Grohe due to his constant pushing and departure.
